The 2007 updates to the fourth edition include an informative annex intended to help guide those wishing to design playspaces which are more accessible to, and usable by, children with physical disabilities such as mobility, reaching, and manipulation disabilities. The annex focuses on reducing or removing barriers and increasing opportunities for people of all abilities to grow and learn together through outdoor play. It also includes changes to the fall heights for elevated platforms. <BR><BR>The article attached is intended to help people in the field work with the revised CSA standard. It lists Ten Key Areas as a way to introduce some of the topics included in this document. There are many other important subjects covered by the standard but by focusing on these ten key areas first, people can start to feel more comfortable with the material and its field applications.<BR><BR>Article in English only, Standards available for purchase in English and French.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/LIN/resources/~4/NTGvSiHcyig" height="1" width="1"/>

<resource:attachment>http://www.lin.ca/Files/21342/2007CSAStandard-PlayspacesStoryandTopTenList-1A.pdf</resource:attachment><resource:attachments><resource:attachment><resource:attachmenttitle>Children's Play Equipment article</resource:attachmenttitle><resource:attachmenturl>2007CSAStandard-PlayspacesStoryandTopTenList-1A.pdf</resource:attachmenturl></resource:attachment></resource:attachments><resource:directlink>http://shop.csa.ca/en/canada/injury-prevention/cancsa-z614-07/invt/27019532007/</resource:directlink><resource:directlinks><resource:directlink><resource:directlinktitle>Order info - English</resource:directlinktitle><resource:directlinkurl>http://shop.csa.ca/en/canada/injury-prevention/cancsa-z614-07/invt/27019532007/</resource:directlinkurl></resource:directlink><resource:directlink><resource:directlinktitle>Order info - French</resource:directlinktitle><resource:directlinkurl>http://shop.csa.ca/fr/canada/injury-prevention/cancsa-z614-07/invt/27019532007/</resource:directlinkurl></resource:directlink></resource:directlinks>

NRPA Economic Roundtable Report and Session Video - Report: Financing the Future: The Critical Role of Parks in Urban and Metropolitan Infrastructure

The Natiaonal Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and the Urban Institute (UI) 2011 Roundtable invited decision makers from a wide variety of disciplines to examine the critical role that public parks and recreation play in urban and metropolitan infrastructure.
