In great euphoria September 30, 2009. I just decided to post an entry for future references. Who knows? Btw, i got a haircut today by Juno. lol.

NO no no no! I'm not a drug-addict. Today was just one of the most wonderful and memorable days of my life and i couldn't find the best word to describe how i feel but HIGH! READ its description from UrbanDictionary.com. Totally felt like that. Please don't take it the wrong way :O

I am just at a stage in my life where I have power over everything with nothing to worry about. Literally. I may be unemployed but I'm a very busy mom. I have the best supportive family (everyone does), greatest friends (yes, we all do), pathetically funny frenemies (who doesn't?) and all the wonderful people who belong in this world.

No one will ever get the true meaning of this blog since i can not really go into details publicly but it's like that, hahahah! I really sound like high, do i? LMAO!

Hoping it would stay this way forever.

Top 10 Drugstore buys $10 or less

Not all expensive products are great especially for the basics. You don't have to buy the high priced name brand shampoo (although Kiehl's Coconut Shampoo is really amazing :) There are precious gems hidden beneath your drugstore aisles, you just have to look for them. Of course, there's always trial and error. Once you find the right one for you, you're set.

Here's my Top 10 list of the drugstore skin/hair care and beauty products that works great to not only me but for a lot of people as well. I have also read reviews about them and so far, so good :) You can also try to google them if you need more info but I think the best bet would be to try them personally so you can judge them yourself. One product may not work as good for you like it does for me. I swear by these products and I'm happy to share them with all of you.

1. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser $8.94 (also available in smaller size) ~ This cleanser is suppose to remove your makeup but it did not work for me like how Purpose removes my daily makeup so I use it as a facial wash. It's a good product i felt my skin smoother but not effective in removing makeup. I've read a review about this somewhere and he said you can never go wrong with Cetaphil which is true. It's really gentle even the baby can use it.

2. Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash from Johnson & Johnson $ 6.79 ~ This one works for me. Very gentle, Oil-free and non-comedogenic, whatever that means, lmao! It removes your makeup really well, I don't even need to use my makeup remover right before i wash my face. But i do use Sephora brand Toner before i apply my daily makeup or Sephora Cleansing water before i go to sleep just to make sure there's no residue left on my skin.

3. Cetaphil Cream or Lotion $8.94 ~ either one is great for moisturizing your skin. Opt for the cream if you have extremely dry skin that requires intensive care. I have both. I use cream for the cold winter months and lotion during the summer. It hydrates your skin. You can feel the difference instantly.

4. Loreal Telescopic Mascara $8.49 ~ Mascara is the only beauty product i would not spend a lot of money on. At least, not anymore. I have tried all of the expensive brand name ones and some of them are really not worth the price. Though i still buy one sometimes if i really like it, e.g. Chanel. Loreal Telescopic gives you long lashes like crazy and i love it. It works for me. Try Voluminous too if you just want volume.

5. Schwarzkopf Citre Shine Shine Miracle Highly Laminating Shampoo & Conditioner $3.50 each (not positive but it's around there) ~ Love this product. Used it for so long. My hair stays soft, smooth and lustrous.

6. Schwarzkopf Zero Frizz 100% Rescue Corrective Hair Serum $5.39 ~ I have been using this brand of hair serum for a decade and still i couldn't find anything better than Schwarzkopf hair serums. Zero frizz is their latest one and it couldn't be better. It does live up to its name. I apply it to my wet hair concentrating from the middle to the tips.

7. Nexxus Salon Hair Care Humectress Luxe Leave-in Spray $9.96 ~ I only have this for less than a month and I'm so loving it. Basically, it's a leave-in conditioner with an amazing scent. I spray sections of my damp hair after i put the serum then comb it to evenly distribute the conditioner. Your hair is softer, smoother and gorgeous.

8. Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask $6.29 ~ I got this together with my Nexxus leave-in conditioner and it's amazing. It's an intensive moisture hair treatment to be used once a week (more effective) or every two weeks depending on your preference. Apply a small amount on wet hair concentrating on the ends. Let sit for 5 minutes then rinse well. It helps restore your dehydrated hair strands.

9.?? Uh-oh, these are all the drugstore products i see in my bathroom counter and room vanity for now. I'm sorry guys, i really mean to make a Top 10 list that are priced $10 or below. But for now that's all i have, all the others are from the department stores. Maybe my Essie nail polish counts? coz they cost only $8 from ULTA but not sure if ULTA is a drugstore? Maybe huh? They sell Revlon, Maybelline, MaxFactor etc also. I will definitely update this entry if i find more great drugstore buys in my beauty arsenal soon.

MAC Brushes: Essentials

Reminder: This entry is just my own thought. This is what i love and my life (at least 25% of it :) PLEASE Please don't force yourself to buy these if it's not your thing. Rock whatever you have. They don't have to be expensive.

As a big cosmetic brush fan, I can not believe myself why I did not think of getting these MAC brushes sooner. So much money wasted on the cheap ones which i thought i saved but did not. Well, that's a lesson to pass on to my children, lol.

MAC has a massive of brushes to choose from. At first, you get confused which ones are you going to get or which are the basics you use everyday. If you have been using makeup for a while, then you already know what brushes you need.

This past month, i have already accumulated 12 MAC brushes. I would love to have all of them but i'll just take it slow :)

Here's the breakdown of MY basics for MAC brushes:

* EYES ~ 239 Out of all the shader brushes, this is my favorite one for it's perfect size and shape. It applies your eyeshadows really well.

~ 266 I love to use gel liner almost all the time. This brush is a staple in my collection. I also use it to fill out my eyebrows.

~ 224 What can you do with all your makeup if you don't have the right blending brush? This one does all the work for you. It blends all the ugly silhouettes of your shadows and make it look flawless.

~ 217 This is like my all around brush. You can use it as a shader, application to the crease, and blending. It's just fabulous.

~ 219 Pencil brush. This one is not really important for everyone but for me it is. I use it to blend my eye liner to soften the look. Very easy to use. (You can use cotton swabs as a substitute)

* FACE ~ 129 there are two types of this brush. You can choose either a long or a short handle. I got the long one. I like to see my brushes all same length (OCD). It just feels more comfortable for me. I use this brush for my powder/blush/bronzer. I have yet to buy the kabuki. In the meantime, this one works just as good.

~ 187 Duo Fibre Stippling Brush - It is also referred to as the "Skunk brush" coz it looks like one. I love this one so much and my absolute favorite. It helps me spread my foundation evenly and easily giving you that airbrushed look. It's definitely a must-have. (I also have the 190 Foundation brush but this 187 works best with my DiorSkin Nude foundation)

As you can see, i did not get any of the lip brushes yet, coz i don't think i really need it. I'm happy using my wand or brush applicators that come with my Dior Addict glosses :)

Drugstore brushes to consider

This is the continuation of my previous post. I promised to write about the OKAY drugstore brushes to look into especially when you are in a tight budget or for those people who choose not to spend a lot of money for MAC or other department store brand brushes. This is ideal for students too.

My picks:

* Sonia Kashuk ~ Available only at Target. They have sets from $12 and up. But I would get the individual brushes, a bit pricey but better. Also, if you purchase the pink ones, a percentage goes to breast cancer support. A good cause.

* E.L.F. ~ which stands for eyes, lips, face :) Available at www.eyeslipsface.com starts at $5. The complete set of 12 brushes cost $12 so it's $1 a piece, what a steal! They also have the 9pc set which was the one i got $15 coz it comes with a brush roll :) I heard you can also find them at Big Lots, KMart and other bargain stores.

* Eco-Tools ~ Eco-friendly. Soft, Cruelty-free bristles. Good for the price. A lot of people like it too. In fact, one of InStyle's Best Beauty Buys of 2009. Available at Target, ULTA, CVS.

* Loew-Cornell ~ These are painting brushes and the brand favorited by many painters. Even though i already own MAC brushes, i would still buy these as my backup coz these are comparable to MAC. Also great for using really colorful bases. They are pretty strong and very good quality. You can buy it from any craft stores like Michael's and JoAnns. Prices start from $2.99.

* Sigma Brushes ~ By the way, this is not a drugstore brand. Available at www.sigmamakeup.com. Okay, i have not used this one but i heard a lot of good things about it. Some people say Sigma is comparable to MAC quality. Now, i was ready to buy it if i get the answer i wanted. Well, i never received a reply from them about my inquiry. Maybe they think my question is weird. Obviously, i asked where their brushes are made FROM, lol. My typical curiosity all the time. Like i said, i don't mean to offend anyone. I am entitled to my own opinion and i think i should be happy with any purchase i make.

I have tried a lot of other brushes but they're not really worth sharing with anyone cause i don't want you guys to waste money on those. Please keep in mind that these brushes are only for temporary use (or permanently, it's really all up to you). However, if you want great quality and long-lasting, you might want to check my review on MAC.

Hope this post has helped anyone who is in the quest for good alternative to expensive brand cosmetic brushes.

MAC Brushes

After a number of years using drugstore brushes, I finally decided to take the plunge to investing in real good cosmetic brushes, i.e. MAC! Obviously, they're not cheap but they will last you a very long time; most makeup artists swear by and some people i know who actually uses them.

If you are in a tight budget or just starting in makeup, drugstore brushes are okay if you just plan on using them temporarily. Looking back, i remember buying different brand of cheap brushes like 2~3 times a year coz one shed like crazy after another. In fairness, my picks on not-so-bad cheap brushes HERE.

Realistically, they're a waste of money and resulted to cost you more compared to buying the good ones right away. I can not even understand myself why it took me this long to buy MAC brushes.

P.S. Don't buy something that you don't really need. I don't need these but i want them and I use them a lot so it's okay.
Rock whatever you have. They don't have to be expensive.

You can't please everyone. Some people may question what the hell am I talking about. MAC is not that expensive. Why is it such a big deal that i promote this brand anyway.

Okay. First of all, MAC is just one of my favorites. Got a ton of other favorite brands, i could write a book. Dior is my #1 FYI! Secondly, MAC is a little more expensive compared to drugstore cosmetics BUT it is actually the cheapest brand in the department store. Third, MAC brushes rock. The quality is great. I have used them for a couple of weeks prior to writing this blog or else I'm gonna sound like an idiot making a review on something i haven't even gotten my hands on yet. (I do know people like that!)

I did look on some other brushes from Chanel, Clinique, Bobbi Brown, Sephora, Billy B, etc. Unfortunately, they all have something in common, the thing i hate the most! My mind is pretty made up in this particular subject. No offense to anybody but i'm so particular as to where a certain item is made from especially when i have to shell out a lot of money for it (I'm sure I'm not alone). I can't even believe Chanel is included in that sentence. I missed to check Dior coz the associate was not there. Shiseido & La Prairie are okay but there's not a lot to choose from. I heard good praises about Sigma brushes but they never replied to my inquiry, so whatever!

Therefore, MAC is still the best in the market i believe! They may be expensive but using them for at least 5 years or more (so they say) is definitely worth it.

BEWARE OF FAKE MAC BRUSHES especially when buying online. To be sure, go to www.maccosmetics.com it's the real thing. I would highly recommend visiting the store. Most Macy's have MAC counters and Macy's is everywhere in the US.
Pros: (1) you can see the actual product ~ size, feel, (2) you're 100% sure it's original, (3) you don't have to pay for shipping, (4) you don't have to wait forever in the mail
Cons: How about NONE?

P.S. You don't have to buy all of the brushes. Just get the basics and something you will use everyday. Unless of course you're a makeup artist or you can just afford to buy all of them, why not? :) I would love to have all of their brushes to complete my collection in due time.

Wii Fit Review

Okay. So Wii came out 2 years ago and everyone went crazy about it. Each store only has 15~20 units in stock; some only 5~10. You can see how people wait in line on the wee hours in every store that sells electronics stuff. Literally. It was nuts.

For those people who doesn't know or haven't heard of Wii (believe me, there's a number!), it is a gaming console although different from all the previous ones, i.e., playstation, gameboy, etc. Should i say, it is more advanced, more interactive and with the ease of use, the whole family can enjoy it. Actually a great excuse to get together.

Personally, I am not into games since I was little. Kids my age were playing all these stuff while I was either dancing to the pop tunes of the 80's or I was at my mom's room trying to put on her makeup and high heels. Perhaps, i just did not live a normal kid life. I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing but whether you agree or not, I have the most perfect life i wanted to live in :) and I wouldn't change anything about it.

Going back to my subject :)

New games are released right now; so my bff's kids got tired with the Wii so she sold it to me. I was hesitant at first, like i said, i am not into these games. Eventually, i bought it. Played a bit. 'twas A-okay.

Then we went to Sam's club and saw this video about Wii Fit! I got very interested-excited cause i was planning to enroll myself in the gym, AGAiN! but having second thoughts cause i don't have the luxury of time to go to the gym regularly.

I have the Wii Fit for a little more than a week now and I'm loving it. Seriously. I take control of my time as to when i want to workout or play. I don't need to drive to the gym and worry about my outfit every time. LMAO! I only use Wii for the Wii Fit. A lot of people may think I'm wasting the purpose of Wii in playing the games. For the third time, I really don't like games :( Sorry.

Fallen so in love with yoga, strength training and a whole lot of other sports. Totally worth it. I highly recommend it for busy, entrepreneur moms and to everyone else.

Grrr. I'm a little disappointed in myself right now cos I found out that I've deleted some of my pictures from photobucket since I was trying to clean up a little bit. Those pictures were in my blogs which i totally forgot about. They are important cos they represent the products i feature. Also, they link to some websites and other promotions that I'm doing. Now, some things are messed up.

WTH was i thinking?

I realized that most people just keep on storing 90% of their nonsense photos in there and they don't even edit them out. Why did i erase those? I am really pissed.

Being too organized is not good sometimes. This will serve as a good example. I hope I won't do it again.

Gotta go try fixing it. Sigh.

My Knowledge Being a Mom Enhanced

As a mother, you learn new things everyday. I am so grateful there's google, well-informed professional individuals and knowledgeable good old friends who give me informative advices.

My daughter has a fever since Friday morning and i just ignored it. She's a pretty healthy kid so I thought it was just a regular fever which disappears after taking Tylenol, but it's not. She doesn't get sick all the time (God forbid!) so i just waited for her to feel better. Bottom line, it is not a good idea to assume especially when it involves the health condition of your children.

From Friday, her temperature alternated to high-low, it did not really alarm me. Early this morning, it's already Sunday, she was really really hot, temp rose to almost 104° now, we panicked, literally. We had to go to the Emergency Room.

The doctor's findings said that she suffered from Acute Otitis media, in layman's term, Middle Ear Infection. This illness is common in young children, and often follows colds. Otitis usually causes fever, earache or fussiness. Taking an antibiotic for at least 10 days is very important to clear up the infection. Besides antibiotics, reducing fever medicines, pain relievers and congestion can also be very useful.

One factor that caused it was drinking with a bottle especially at night. The jaws connect to the ear 'something' so bacteria can spread easily. I'm not so sure if i remember everything she said but I'm trying to relate it the best i can.

Actually, I already stopped giving my daughter baby bottle, it was just lately, because she did not eat regularly and I got worried... so i thought maybe the fever did not really start from bottle feeding, there was something else that has caused it, maybe too much swimming? What do you think?

Anyway, the doctor prescribed antibiotic and an ear drop for her to use for the next few days. Since it was early morning, all the pharmacies were closed. We went to like 4 pharmacies and they all open at 10AM, omg! I got so frustrated thinking why the heck there's no more 24 hour pharmacy in America? And I even live in a big city, not the countryside. It sucks.

Regardless, I am more than happy that my daughter feels better now, she's doing her regular routine again. She slept 5 straight hours and her temperature dropped down to normal. Thank you Lord!

As we speak, I am off to the pharmacy. See you all later. Always remember, God is so good all the time.

I really thought I know enough about twitter, but there's still so much more to learn. While i was checking on my twitter page, i noticed the @LivinLuxe and i wonder what it is so i clicked it, LMAO! Silly me, i just learned about someone has replied to my posts and stuff. That's where i saw the RT by San_Antonio too.

Another wonderful day in my studio. I posted a new thread earlier today in the ETSY Promotions forum entitled ☆ Promote, Sell & Meet new friends...HERE ☆ where everyone and anyone is welcome to join, share their insights, chat, promote products, hopefully sell more, and most of all meet new friends in the community.

The response i get from all the super nice ETSYans is just amazing. People here are really friendly compared to the other networking sites or chats i've ever been to. No pun intended. My experience here so far made me meet a lot of other crafty individuals and learn so many things from them as well.

We also help promote each other's shops in order to draw more attention to possible customers, shop-hoppers and acquaintances from all over the world. It really feels great to be a part of this community. I am happy and thankful with everything that i came across every single day.

America, I Salute You!

Ahh, that first smell and taste of freedom remembered once again today. July 4th is a national holiday. As the official date of observance, it's celebrating Independence Day which means gathering of families, fairs, picnics, shows with the presence of hotdogs, beer, barbeque and of course, fireworks! Since it falls on the summer, the celebration usually occurs outdoors by the way.

There will be different events or programs in every city and state in the country. All i want is to watch the Macy's fireworks tonight with my family at the back of my car and maybe bring some chips and soda. I wish to have a peaceful and safe Fourth of July for everybody!

Pretty Quiet Sunday

I think this is the longest Sunday ever. It's only 11AM. Where is everybody? No one is online either. You know how time is slowest when you're bored and got nothing to do?

Maybe everybody is out in the park for a little picnic with the whole family or just having a simple barbeque in the backyard. I'm pretty sure they're not on their computers though. *deep breaths* b-o-r-i-n-g!

We're just home with my little heiress and I'm not so sure how we can get through the day with this being so awfully quiet. hmm *thinking* Watch HD? (TV is such a waste of time, but maybe!) Go online? (already am!) Work on my crafts? (no, not today, it's Sunday) Cook? (but hey, i can't keep on cooking for the rest of the day) Chat on the cellphone? (we'll see!) Bubble baths? (sounds like a good idea) Mall? (never ever on weekends) Stalk my hubby? (that bored huh!)

I usually have everything planned out the night before, but my to-do list is empty today. I don't feel like going to my friend's house or going to the mall, duh, it's Sunday. Mall is too crowded on weekends, even the largest malls in town. I will never go there on the weekends in a million years.

Okay, well, let's try blogging or answering questions in yahoo or picking top 5's in facebook which i already did last night, maybe i'll do it again to forget time, if i will ever forget about it :)

So, i'll start roasting my beef and get my gravy ready then get to Sunday biz. Anybody care for lunch?

Oh, thank God! For the past couple days, i felt like I'm in solitary confinement. So quiet, so lonely, so boring. (i.e. if my daughter is asleep... when she's awake, we play and study a lot so everything's perfect!) I couldn't do anything productive and i lost touch with the world. That's because my ISP was down due to that crazy thunder and lightning. And the rain only poured for about 5 minutes, what the heck! Then, it took them 2 and a half days to come over and fix it :( Sucks, but that's just the way it is. It was like the worst times of my online life, if there's such a thing :B

Anyways, everything looks good now. Hopefully, the weather will continue this way. I am so excited to post the new items i just finished in my ETSY Shoppe. Eco-combo!

Yaay! Just finished my eco-combo bracelets and listed it in ETSY. These bracelets are made out of recycled/upcycled pop top pull out tabs. Very eco~friendly. Also embellished with a faceted clear cube bead which also serves as the closure.

So chic. So edgy. So fun!

Today is kind of an eye opener for me. This time it's real :)) As i was reading the last lesson from Timothy Adam, i get more interested as to what he has to say.

He talked about time management. You have to set a goal to get to where you want to go. Sloth is the language of the poor. I will never forget that. In fact, that is going to be my new motto ;) There are so many distractions every time so maybe we have to try to really concentrate to get something done. I am appalled by this because that is exactly what i do oftentimes. No wonder i never have time for anything. Steer away for serious change or you'll get stuck to this state forever.

I need to stay away from the phone, all the messengers, social networks and emails if I'm working on something. I realized i waste too much on there. Those social media will have their time from me but not as much time as i previously spend there every single day. Hopefully I'll get used to this easily because I really do want change. Time is too precious to waste on worthless things. So, wake up right now, buddy! Let's get things done!

Positive attitude

For the past few days, i have been researching on how to get more traffic to your website and find possible customers along. I found this amazing website by Timothy Adam who also happens to have an etsy shop like i do but then he has a lot more exposure compared to my mediocre experience.

So, i decided to sign up on his 5 day lesson for free. I have actually learned a lot from him and i'll just try to follow some of the things i did not know he said. Just like today, he said to write your blogs regularly. Not write two days in a row and skip another week or months. It won't help you crawl up top google. And i think it's true. Because of that, i'll try to write my blogs regularly from now on. (well, at least 3~5 days a week, so he says) I said, i'll try :))

Tomorrow will be the 5th lesson and i can't wait to read it. I'm sure i'll get a lot more insights and grow more sophisticated in this complicated web world.
