This Friday is "September Serve-Aces" Friday Night Mixed Doubles - don't miss out on the club's biggest and best social tennis event! LE PETIT SMASH KIDS ACADEMY at MONARCH- FOR KIDS STARTING AT AGE 3
The "Petit Smash Kids Academy" was born out of a desire to teach tennis to youths with an adapted method, to favor success without competing with other students. The method used is "Evolutiv'Tennis", it was directly inspired by 25 years of teaching experience in lessons, clinic and coaching competitions. Through a variety of teaching material and gradual increase of difficulty in exercises, the aim is to develop a passion for tennis! END OF SUMMER PARTY - THIS SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7th 5:00-8:00pm

Although summer may be coming to a close, ladies leagues, USTA and junior programs will be starting up again. Take a time-out and enjoy these last moments of summer by joining us for our END OF SUMMER PARTY on Saturday, September 7th from 5-8pm! We'll have music on Center Court and plenty of drinks and appetizers to go around. Use it as an opportunity to get together with your team before the season starts! Hope to see you there!

NEW JUNIOR PROGRAM "LE PETIT SMASH USA"

Our newest pro, Valerie Albaret, has been teaching tennis in Paris for 30 years. During the first 12 years, she was one of the head coaches of the number one club in France. In 2003, Valerie founded her own tennis club in Paris, Le Petit Smash, which is now one of the top ten clubs of the Paris Tennis League, with 550 children enrolled in the programs. With a wealth of experience with children ages 3 to 12 years old, and along with her knowledge of the Bollettieri's method for champions, Valerie has successfully developed her own teaching method - "Evolutiv'Tennis" which is fun and especially adapted to the youngest. She has also coached good juniors.

In 2011, she assisted and coached Victoria Duval from Bollettieri Academy when she was in Europe for tournaments, as well as when she was at the TWA Las Cruces tournament in New Mexico in June 2013. Victoria defeated Samantha Stosur in August 2013 at the US Open. Valerie is very excited to introduce "le Petit Smash USA" programs at the Tennis Club at Monarch Beach and hope that many children will grow and love the game. She also offers private tennis lessons or clinics to adults and children with passion and dedication, every weekday from 10:30am to 4:30pm.

SUPPORT THE "JAPAN AMERICA TENNIS OPEN"

The "Japan America Tennis Open" will take place on Monday, September 23rd. The $100 per player fee (if registered together with a doubles partner, $125 if registered individually) pays for a tennis clinic with a USTA Master Professional (only 135 in the world), a round robin tournament, reception and awards dinner, all at the SeaCliff Country Club in Huntington Beach.

Winners get an award trophy to take home and their name engraved in the perpetual Japan America trophy. All participants get a bag full of goodies from Yonex. The tournament is a fund raiser to benefit The Japan America Society of Southern California.

JASSC administers donations to the 2011 Japan Relief Fund, to help in the rebuilding of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, and has contributed $750,000 to date. It is recently beginning to focus on the needs of children, including the needs of children who have lost one or both parents. Included in this is its commitment of $30,000 to support Fukushima Aiikuen, an orphanage in the affected area.

NATIONAL CHARITY LEAGUE SHOE DRIVE

Angel Bins is a socially-responsible company that started 10 years ago because they found that thrift stores were throwing away the things that didn't sell. They started buying them up and recycling them or finding homes for them all over the world. In the process, they started working with schools and organizations to help them fundraise.

They collect any types of shoes. If they are designer, they may sell them to websites. If they are out-of-style, they may give them to a needy person in a third world country. Damaged goods get made into yarn, which is then made into clothing or shoes. Nothing goes to waste.

Medora and Courtney Zani have a goal of collecting 100 pairs of shoes by Sept 7, 2013.

Please put your shoes in the bin located just inside the entrance of Laguna Niguel Racquet Club - your generous contribution will help make a happier holiday for needy kids in our neighborhood!

Say "Hello Again" to Friday Night Mixed Doubles as we celebrate these "Hot August Nights" with a throwback-themed event of classic rock and courtside fun - there will be prizes! Don't be a "Solitary Man," sign up soon while space is available and eat, drink and be merry 'til "September Morn" comes! There is no charge to play, but please provide a can of balls for your matches. WEEKEND FITNESS EQUIPMENT TUTORIAL - SATURDAYS and SUNDAYS 8:00am, 12:00pm, 4:00pm
Been to the Fitness Center lately? There are exciting changes taking place, and we want you to take full advantage of them! Learn the proper use of the NEW Hammer Strength and Life Fitness Equipment, now available in our Fitness Center. Each session will be approximately 30 minutes long and held on Saturdays and Sunday at 8:00am, 12:00pm and 4:00pm. SIGN UP AT THE FRONT DESK. Be sure to pick up one of our updated class schedules as we have some new and improved classes in the rotation!

OPEN COURTS - DAILY
Never tried Open Courts? It's a great opportunity to meet other members and get more playing time so you can improve your game! Open Courts are held daily: Monday through Friday at 4:30pm, "bonus" sessions at 6:00pm on Mondays & Wednesdays, and Saturdays and Sundays at 8:30am & 10:00am. To get your name on the list, simply call the front desk the day you would like to play at (949)496-4665. You will be matched up in a doubles game with three other members according to skill level. While we try to honor requests to play with other members, there are no guarantees. Please be respectful to the other members on the court and show up on time for your matches! Hope to see you on the courts soon.

NEW SPECIALS AND ITEMS AT THE TOP SPIN BAR & GRILL
Our fantastic chef Luis and bartender Monique have been working on great new specials for you to enjoy while you're at the club. The grill is open Monday-Friday until at least 7:00pm, so take the night off and let us cook for you! Always look for the daily specials we offer. This month we are featuring a few new wines: rainstorm, a 2011 Oregon Pinot Gris; 10span, a 2012 Monterey County Pinot Gris; and Alderbrook, a 2009 Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley. All are offered for $4 per glass. We will also be serving up new happy hour deals from 3-6pm: Basket of Fries for $3; Onion rings or Hummus for $4; Bacon Cheese Fries, Nachos, or Wings for $5. I am a personal trainer with a background in tennis and a passion for fitness. It has been a dream of mine to combine my two passions in one realm, and here I’ve landed in the best of both worlds.

I grew up playing competitive tennis on a local, national and international level. After my junior career I went on to compete for Division 1 Loyola Marymount University followed by a brief try on the WTA tour before injuries ended my career. These injuries helped me to realize the benefits of a proper blend of on and off the court strength and functional training. Although I couldn’t compete any longer, I continued to work with athletes on improving their fitness levels to improve their game. It was during this time that I realized my true passion for fitness. For the past five years I have worked with clients of all fitness levels, from the hardcore athlete, to individuals fighting physical ailments and injuries.

When it comes to training; I am a goal-focused trainer with a firm belief in keeping workouts interesting, fun, challenging and constantly changing. During my training sessions I like to incorporate different training styles and tools such as interval training, plyometrics, kickboxing, yoga, forms of high intensity interval training (such as tabata), free weights, kettle bells, stability balls, BOSU, and TRX bands. Overall, I truly love what I do and my main priority is to keep my clients healthy, happy and fit.
