Details of the versions of all the data offered can be found on the EDINA website.

OS OpenData - NEW

In addition to the licensed data products, all the OS OpenData is also now available through Digimap. You can find most of the OS OpenData products through the Data Download facility. BoundaryLine is available through the Boundary Download facility. Digimap continues to offer full flexibility in identifying and downloading the data you want for all products. Although the OS OpenData products are available from Ordnance Survey's website directly, search and select options are limited.

Other Digimap Collections

Other Digimap Collections have also undergone some improvements recently. Historic Digimap now has a new data download facility called Historic Download, offering the ability to download larger quantities of data in a single request. The new mapping facility called Ancient Roam is alsobecoming well established, offering an updated and much easier to use mapping interface. The previous facility (also known as Historic Digimap) will be withdrawn at the end of 2010. Ancient Roam and the new Historic Download facility will remain beyond this date. Geology Digimap also has a new Geology Roam mapping interface offering easier map browsing functions and the ability to fade between the geology overlay and the backdrop mapping.

Cross national time series data updated: 1815-2009

The Cross-National Time-Series Data Archive is a longitudinal data series. The Archive was launched in the fall of 1968 by Arthur S. Banks under the aegis of the Center for Comparative Political Research (subsequently the Center for Social Analysis) and includes national and international statistics from 1815 to present. In establishing the archive, it was decided to assemble materials, insofar as possible, dating from 1815 (immediately after the Congress of Vienna and formation of the modern international system). It was also decided that all commonly recognized members of the international community should be represented, excluding a handful of quasi-states such as Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco, and Vatican City. In 1977, data for the latter were also introduced, with coverage extending from 1975.

The Library holds the complete dataset, now including 2009. LSE staff and students can access by emailing datalibrary@lse.ac.uk.

Thomson ONE Banker Excel extension

Hello, my name is Neil Stewart, and I'm a member of the Library's Information Services team. Amongst other things, I do some work on the Data Library, so I am joining Dave to blog here about data resources.

On to business- Dave and I have just installed what should be a useful new piece of functionality on the two Data PCs here in the Library. This is an extension which allows you to download and work with data from Thomson ONE Banker within Excel. Simply open Excel on either of these PCs, and select the Thomson ONE Banker tab from the top menu ribbon.

To use either of the Data PCs, please ask for access to them at the Help Desk, Library 1st floor.
