Finding quality beverages can be a challenge at times in Spain. Many of the supermarkets in Spain heavily focus on Spanish wines............. and why not, they are fantastic.

For those of you attempting to try something different or just add some variety to your cellar / wine rack why not visit the Marks and Spencer food section.

I took the time to sift through the small selection of wines they provide but found myself having to sample some of them as well. As with many of the wine ranges here the price varied from low to high, however even though a small cross section of the huge variety of wines out there, hats off to the person responsible for this selection.

Whether it be a celebration, party, dinner or gift the selection of international wines provided is well worth the visit. Personally I chose the French Riesling which was fantastic as I have been searching for one in Spain for a while now.

However whatever your taste please wonder through and take a look at their selection and with Christmas fast approaching if you are spending it here in Spain why not get some special bottles for that special day.

Apple iPhone 5 La Cañada

La Cañada is once again swamped by clients eagerly waiting to purchase the new iPhone 5. Extra staff have been placed in the main concourse to shepherd the queue of (today) approximately 100 people.

The Apple iPhone 5 has had mixed reviews, especially some of it´s software however this seems not to deter people from owning one. If you are one of the many avid Apple followers and feel like waiting in a queue for anywhere between 1 - 3 hours then make your way up to La Cañada.

Without the need to state the obvious demand for the phone will probably increase at weekends so if it is your aim to purchase one then I suggest arriving early.

Well I can confirm that tha sales are well and truly under way. I'm writing to you from my current location. Expect difficulty parking and long waits at the tills. Nonetheless there are great deals to be had.

Happy New Year readers! I trust you all had a fantastic festive season. With the English festive season drawing to an end and the Three Kings drawing closer this can only mean one thing.......... SALES!! those of you who held off from over shopping at Christmas and cleverly gave everyone an IOU will now be pleased to hear as from Saturday 7th La Cañada in Marbella is officially in its winter sale period. Although many stores have already been placing items on sale, Hollister being one, there will be much more from on sale from the rest of the shops in the centre so get on down and shop away for all those bargains.

Habitat La Cañada

Amidst the opening of the Apple store it´s previous occpuant may have been forgotten however for those of you still looking for it´s unique range Habitat is located close to the entrance of the old section of La Cañada. The store is on the left as you enter the centre where Casa used to be located.

For those of you who fell in love with Casa and it´s reasonably priced range of household products, this has now moved to Estepona next to Carrefour.

Sundays at La Cañada

The time of year has come again when shop employees wish it was a different time of year, as they lose their Sundays. Great news for us and not so much for them!

Yes folks La Cañada is now open on Sundays and shoppers can now enjoy yet another day of shopping at the weekends, somewhat taking the pressure off your Saturdays.

Today, in it´s first Sunday of the month, La Cañada was peaceful for until about 12pm so if you are planning a visit, maybe visit early to avoid the queues. This secret may get out though and the crowds may catch on in he coming weeks, so be prepared.

One drawback to the crowds flocking to the centre is traffic so be prepared to wait patiently when exiting the shopping centre.

If you can fight your way through the queue for the new Apple strore then it is well worth making your visiting Marks and Spencers this Christmas.

Whether you are looking for stocking fillers, presents or food it´s deifnately worth taking a look. they have some great innovative stocking filler gifts at low prices for all ages.

I am sure a dreaded period for many, especially those who do not particualarly enjoy shopping...... like men for example, however get in early and you maybe surprised.

Not even past Haloween and the shops have changed their stock and window displays to entice all who pass by with their latest ranges. Well as previously stated, why not be prepared this year, ahead of the crowds and take advantage of the early onset of xmas goodies in the shops.

In addition to the shops preparing, of course Christmas in La Cañada just wouldn´t be the same without the decorations which have appeared already.

It's true! Apple has decided that the Marbella shopping centre is an ideal location for one of it's few stores in Spain. It's rumoured to be a large store, my opinion, probably the ex-habitat location in the centre of the older section. However we'll have to wait until mid November to find out.

Mango Touch coming soon to La Cañada Marbella

For those of you who enjoy shopping and especially like ranges from Mango great news. Mango have recently relaunched their brand with "Mango Touch". Currently there are about 15 locations across Spain with these stores, Madrid being one of the most popular. These stores will be similar to other well known brands in La Cañada with clothes, bags, shoes and fragrances however will also stock exclusive ranges. Located just along from Terra Sana in the old section of the shopping complex.

For those of you with children in school in Spain the end of their long summer break is nearing. For some of you this maybe a relief for others maybe not. Either way the stress involved in gathering school materials for the coming year can be immense. Luckily many of the stores in La Cañada are now catering for the childrens needs. Some like M&S have a small section of clothing items that maybe suitable. Al Campo (the supermarket) have a wider range of clothing and at a more reasonable price. In addition to the clothing Al Campo (as always) have now got a section for exercise books and stationary so why not avoid the rush and stock up!

Clothing shoppers who are after some great ranges of clothing will be pleased to see an additional 2 shops added to the top new section of La Cañada. The first of which is Hollister the Californian Clothing company opening next to M&S The second US clothing store will be Guess who are opening along from Desigual overlooking the cafe in the center of the new section. These additions will surely only enhance the choice of clothing that already exists.

Midway through August and the shops in la Cañada are still offering great savings on many items. Savings can be made of anything upto 75%, which is a dicsount offered by Marks & Spencers. Other offers can be found in some of the better known clothing brands like, H&M, Zara, C&A and Topshop.

New ranges are already appearing in the shops so with only til the end of August 2011 are the offers available, so why not get up there and save money while you can.

Airport Strikes Summer 2011

News just in and I hope I am not the bearer of bad news for any holiday makers or any of this blog´s readers. Basically on the 18th and 26th August 2011 airport staff in all Spanish airports are going on strike. This will obviously affect both domestic and international flights, therefore check with your airline to confirm but maybe make alternative arrangements if possible.

For those of you who maybe visitng on holiday or locals who have looked out of the window only to find rain and your outside plans ruined do not despair as La Cañada IS open over the Easter period.

The centre will be opening with normal business hours 10am until 10pm on both Thursday and Friday this Easter.

Sales Madness

It´s officially the start of the January sales everywhere. Most of the shops in La Cañada are now displaying some fantastic offers. This however will cause you a long wait if you are planning on going there today. The queues are terrible backing out onto the A7 and with the rain it is worth maybe holding off a day or so.
In addition as we are all aware trying to park underground is a time consuming task as well.

Negatives aside there are some great bargains to be had so good luck.

A very warm welcome and a Happy New Year for 2011. For many of us the Christmas period is over but the Spanish population yet have their larger of the 2 celebrations "The Three Kings" on the 6th of January.

Now as I am sure some of you are aware some of the shops in La Cañada Shopping Centre are displaying their sales or rebajas already, however a majority of the shops will start their January sales on the 7th, so beware the shopping centre will probably be mobbed this coming weekend.

For those of you less concerned with the start of the sales and are still crraving some of that rich Christmas food, Marks & Spencer are currently doing deals on Christmas Puddings........... which Im sure you´ll all agree are superb, so why not get on down there and pick one up cheaply.

Once again that time of year has arrived and with it the La Cañada Centre Marbella has decorations up and Christmas present ideas in almost every shop. No sooner has Haloween finished and even before than the centre is adorned with Christmas decorations on the normal grand scale.
