Fairtrade desserts for The Towers

The Towers Hotel in Swansea played host to the NPT Environment Awards on Friday 20th November hosted by TV presenter Iolo Williams.

We were asked to provide Fairtrade desserts for the award banquet and Sian came up with two fabulous creations.

The first was a Banoffee Cheesecake. A layer of biscuit, topped with a banana cheesecake, toffee sauce, Fairtrade bananas from Ghana, dusted with Divine Chocolate and a chocolate piece made from Callebaut Fairtrade couverture.

The second was a Mocha Chocolate Mousse Gateau. Chocolate sponge made using Fairtrade cocoa powder, mocha mousse made with fairtrade Coffee and Couverture, dusted with cocoa and decorated with chocolate coffee beans and a chocolate piece made with Fairtrade couverture.

Other ingredients included locally sourced cream from Ty Tanglwyst dairy farm in Cornelly which goes from Cow to cheesecake within 24hours and free range eggs from Old Castle Farm in Tonna.

As a business we strongly believe in using local ingredients in our products and we work hard to support local food producers and encourage the general public to buy from and support local businesses wherever possible.

We are delighted to supply desserts to the Towers Hotel and we appreciate their commitment to buy locally sourced products.

Wedding cake for Canada Lodge

Canada Lodge is a stone built lodge sitting in private grounds overlooking Canada Lake. It can be found on the outskirts of Creigiau village, a few miles northwest of Cardiff and a few miles from J34 of the M4. It is a most beautiful venue for a Wedding Ceremony and this weekend it played host to the Wedding of Alun and Anna.

Alun & Anna choose a 3 tier ivory wedding cake with their names hand written across the cake in autumn orange.

We also made chocolate truffle Wedding Favours for the adults and chocolate lollipops for the children.

Contemporary Wedding Show at Liberty Stadium

Our latest exhibition took us to the Contemporary Wedding Show at The Liberty Stadium in Swansea on Sunday 15th November. There was a large crowd all day long and Sian, Tonya & Melania were all "caked out" at the end of the day.

The stand looked amazing and there was lots of interest from brides to be. The show seemed to attract people from all across South Wales including Llanelli, Swansea, neath, Port Talbot, Bridgend and Porthcawl.

Saturday Night Takeaway to resume

After the amazing success of the Neath Food & Drink Festival and the fabulous reaction to Sian's cookery demonstrations we have decided to resume supplying food in our patisserie with immediate effect.

So to all those people who have been petitioning us over the last two months - we have listened and you can stop writing in.....

As well as supplying our daily specials, we have also decided to resume our Weekend Takeaway Menu for the next 2 months leading up to Christmas.

The menu for w/e 14th November is as follows :

Starter : Goats Cheese Tartlet with Walnut Salad

Main: Chicken Breast wrapped in Parma Ham, in a tomato and tarragon sauce

Dessert : Tiramisu

Price £12.50 per head

In order to avoid disappointment we ask all our customers to order in advance if possible although a limited supply will be available on the day.

Wedding Cake and Daleks

A surprise was in store for us when we delivered our latest Wedding Cake creation to Margam Orangery last friday.

Sian had made a 3 tier ivory wedding cake with ivory roses and diamante diamonds. The room had been decorated with an autumn theme and the cake looked amazing in the beautiful Orangery setting.

Having set up the cake our eye was drawn to a movement at the end of the room. Sian went to investigate and before we knew what was happening she had been stunned....

Rest assured the effects were only temporary and Sian has suffered no permanent damage.

Luckily there was a doctor in the house.

Reaction to Neath Food Festival

It is always difficult planning something new, especially something as large as a Food & Drink Festival.

How will the public take to it? How will local business react?

Will anybody come? What about the weather?

Can we attract the exhibitors?

These are just a few of thousand questions I asked myself before embarking on the project. My gut told me that Neath would support it. Neath people want to buy local and support local welsh producers. Without exception, the producers are truly passionate about their products and the food and drink festival was a fantastic platform to showcase the best they have to offer.

Everybody has a smile on their faces and has a positive story to tell.

Sian spent the day hosting cookery demonstrations in St.Davids church and again the public support was incredible. Sian's recipes were carefully chosen to showcase local produce and there was plenty of samples to go around after each session. Many thanks to Adam Jones who kindly agreed to open the festival and did the first cookery demonstration with Sian. The people of Neath feel tremendous warmth for Adam and we all feel very proud of his success. Adam was wonderful with children and my favourite question of the day was nothing to do with rugby, it was an enquire into

"What hair care products, Adam uses".

The first Neath food and drink festival was a roaring success with both traders and the general public throughly enjoying the day. Lots of samples were given out and lots of money went through the tills, as people came out in force to support local producers.

The quality of the produce on offer was first class and the exhibitors showed their true passion for the products they make.

Preparing for Neath Food and Drink Festival

Saturday 24th October is going to be the day of the first Neath Food and drink festival and here at La Creme we are busy preparing.

Products on sale on the day will include Halloween Cup cakes, welshcakes, chocolate brownies, millionaire shortbread, toffee apples and frangipane tarts.

Our stall will be based close to Town square alongside Next.

As well as running a stall, Sian will also be hosting a day of cookery demonstrations in St.Davids Church the first one of which will start at 11.00am and Sian will be accompanied by Adam Jones, the Wales and British Lion forward.

In order for Sian he utter the famous line "Here's one I prepared earlier" here's a picture of her making many today.

Camper Van Birthday Cake

Its must be motor week in Neath and Swansea because we have had two very special commissions this week.

One for an 18th Birthday Camper Van Cake and one for a Racing Car 1st Birthday Cake.

We have also had two orders for two very special young ladies who requested Giant Cup Cake Birthday Cakes.
