Burberry fun

yes, so i've been away again, seriously guys, i don't enjoy blogging just once a month! i was in the hospital and then the hubs was too a day after me so trying to take care of him while i was still recuperating was not easy on me. add the holidays and end of the year @ work which is just plain insanity. yeah, blogging unfortunately didn't fit into my list :(

thank goodness for my 4 weeks of vacation a year, i guess it's worth having tenure!

so anyways, i leave you with a little collage from my early morning trip to burberry (same day Versace for H and M release). when i say early, i mean mad early, i was there before they opened, since Versace was an utter failure burberry was the only way to make me feel better! we were about 10 people too far back in the H and M line to get a bracelet and the mens section was empty. funny story though, when i was looking out for restocked mens versace items from the dressing room, my sister in law witnessed a tiny middle aged asian women take down 3 men to get the clothing before them! she was held down by 4 security guards and dragged out stating she had no idea why they were kicking her out, smh! the things you will see at these sales...

Blog Sale!

I am a pack rat and I've been slowing learning to "let go" of things. Those things today will be some shoes, I would have more to post but my dog, Rocky, has eaten countless pairs of shoes, or I have given them away. Depending if BagBorroworSteal.com buys my handbags, I may be posting those for sale here too (Coach, L.A.M.B., Dooney & Burke, Linea Pelle). Surprise Birthday

for me! The hubs can't seem to stop surprising me, I truly had to hold back the tears. I walked into the party two days after my actual birthday expecting to meet up with the hubs' cousins before heading out to dinner with my bro and his family. It was small and intimate, which I loved. I had people that mattered to me (and vice versa). There were a couple friends that couldn't make it and I was so sad to not see them, but life happens, right?! one was expecting a baby, sees life happens! Congrats, E!!

Enough babbling, I could seriously go on and on and on...for example, I'm testing out new contacts and they suck! HD my butt...(purevision2) and I'm afraid nothing will really work for me, contacts aren't made in my prescription. When you get to a certain level of nearsightedness, they stop making the prescriptions in quarters (.25) so I'm wearing a -10 on my right eye versus the -9.75 I need and -9.5 I've been wearing previously. Glasses are much higher than -10, but they can make those stronger and more precisely than contacts. I h.a.t.e. glasses, been wearing them since 2nd grade and before I was diagnosed nearsighted, I was failed from 2nd grade (the first year) b/c I couldn't read...they thought I was unable to learn until I was given a mandatory eye exam my second year of 2nd grade and the nurse was astounded I was able to function at all 0_0. Ugh -- see, I can babble...smh (did I mention I was placed in ESOL too and my only language was English...I didn't learn Spanish until I was 14 years old!)

So here are the (few) shots of the amazing get together my hubs and ah-mazing and supportive friend, Rachel (not to mention so incredibly gorgeous and fashionable) planned for me!

I can't forget about my brother and his wife that took me out this day and kept this a secret so well! Thanks for the shopping spree at Sephora, those are always welcome ;-)

Hey beautiful people! I am back with a new post ( so sad ). I haven't been posting b/c my injury took much longer to heal to a point where I could type outside of work.

feel free to take a look at the pictures from the Procession for the Lord of Miracles (Jesus) of Washington, DC & my FOTD! By the way, for those who know I'm not catholic; I attend this every year for my husband (he is Catholic) and it means a great deal to him and I respect that.

the ratablo weighs 8,500 pounds (~2 tons) and is carried by 32 men that must rock side to side, take breaks and switch out men to prevent an accident. it is considered an honor to carry it.

they're heading to Adams Morgan, crossing Connecticut Ave. NW. from noon to 8 pm they walk 12 miles.

cough cough ---- our wedding anniversary

hi ladies and gents, yes, i'm still mia, i still have tendinitis, going through physical therapy and a bump in the road with that (why does it take 11 weeks to approve ONE physical therapy session?!?!)...now the pain is as severe as the beginning and i need to start all over again...ughh

anyways, came back from vegas last week and G (hubby) came back sick and i caught whatever plague he caught in the poker room...so i'm barely conscious. as i write this i am coughing up a storm. i called out of work today (didn't call out at all last week). so back to work tomorrow, can't miss more work, vegas and a wedding from two weeks ago has me backed up already, argh. anyways, through sun or rain tomorrow night G & i will be having dinner at one of our favorite restaurants for our religious wedding anniversary (we're weird, we celebrate both civil and religious dates, haha). here's a few shots from our wedding 3 years ago :)

for our anniversary he bought me a camcorder (canon vixia hf r20) and i love it already, i had tested quite a few and narrowed it down to the canon, it had the most bang for my buck. and for my early bday gift, he got me my long time coveted michael kors hamilton! i already had the outlet version but i always wanted the north south version and while we were in vegas he got it for me, don't laugh, i cried (i blame pms). thank you so much love :) i ordered the zippered long jet set wallet to go with it last week, should have by tomorrow! yay!!

NYX $1.20 sale

Hey folks, yes, I've been MIA again, life is just going at a million miles per hour now, I can't keep up! I move in 15 days, have to buy a new car by next Wednesday, started physical therapy on Monday and I've lost way too many hours at work and I stand to lose more for the next couple weeks for more dr appts. I'm most scared about two things, my work load and packing with tendinitis. Just fabulous...

I want to touch a controversial topic, the NYX $1.20 sale that apparently never happened, haha. I must say, I'm slightly amused at how outraged people are. I understand they screwed up and all, but dang, some people have reported them to the BBB and reported them as a fraud...quite the accusation! I don't want to discuss this at great length, just wanted to say, b r e a t h e. I get it...but seriously, some people watched the sale for 24 hours or more, I give up after 10 min and move on bc other things are more important. To each their own, right?

I'll leave you with the view I've been having every night for a few weeks. So nice to go home while it's still bright out!

Omw to another doctor appointment for my right arm, so I decided to share a few pics with you :). A set of girlfriends and I have brunch at least once a month. This past Saturday we went to one of my favorite places for breakfast, Original House of Pancakes in Rockville, MD. I ordered a Dutch Baby with fresh strawberries, yum. It's a super lightweight inflated pancake. You must try it if you haven't already!

The rest of my day was filled with errands, more than usual. Why? Because my car is acting like the Poltergeist all over again. I used the hubs car. No car for a few weeks, no bueno! It truly is a long story, so I'll spare you. long story short, its gonna cost a cool grand, *fabulous*.

Wishlist Wednesday

as a huge makeup collector (that's all i really do, i don't wear makeup much) i need a place to store my makeup and since i live in a small apartment (1,050 sq ft) i need to utilize every foot as much as possible. fyi - my husband despises my clutter, he doesn't seem to mind his so much, LOL. i currently have a very sad attempt at organization and quite ugly, i have a plastic 3 drawer organizer (15 inches wide, 15 inches tall, 18 inches deep). it's huge but since it's plastic with strange curves, all the space isn't utilized at it's maximum potential and since the drawers are so heavy when i open a drawer it wants to sag and fall out of the container, no bueno. i also have a spinning makeup organizer on my bathroom counter that i find ugly now. it's called the Tabletop Spinning Cosmetic Organizer, sold by QVC. that's where all my foundations, concealers, primers and favorite lipsticks go. but having that organizer and the big 3 drawer plastic one on my bathroom counter is just overwhelming and ugly.

since my injury i haven't been able to put away laundry, do dishes or clean very much. i was feeling pretty down b/c of that so i did some youtubin for about 30 minutes as i was at home sick yesterday and saw this and fell in love!! it looks like the answer to my dreams *sigh*

it's called the Acrylic Makeup Cube and it sells for $175, i would personally need to purchase two. for that reason i will have to hold off on making this sort of purchase until I get around to selling a lot! i have a lot of makeup that i bought and thought would work for me...and turns out is the wrong shade or formula for my skin. i also have designer handbags that just aren't getting any love, time to purge! i personally wished i had a bedroom large enough for a vanity and i wished i wasn't such a packrat so that if i ever did get a vanity it would look decent and not a hot mess. anyways, if you want to order, the link is below.

First Watch

On a very very rainy Saturday, with Tornadoes swirling around (same storm system that hit NC very hard), couple of my buddies and I headed over to First Watch cafe for breakfast. We were depleted from shopping that morning, and me from my Brazilian wax. The whole day my mind was in the clouds from that wax. We had some amazing food and I have proof of how amazing it was...just look at the before and after!

Service here was awesome, food arrived fast despite being a full house with a wait. Food is super fresh, cage free eggs, while wheat pancakes the size of your large plate, for example. They have amazing yelp.com reviews too. Reminds me, I need to write a review on them...

My waffle melted in my mouth, the bacon was good, the eggs were just so delicious *salivating*.

We spent the rest of the day house rental shopping, shopping and eating at Five guys along with amazing boba. My girls fiance was snooping around my car in the back seat and found an old picture of an older couple dated 1978...the lady looked so mean and creepy and the guy looked like he had "checked out" of life...very creepy. We threw it away after showing my hubs...gave me chills. That photo has been in my car since I bought it 4 yrs ago, no one until now found it. I have a feeling its what has made my car crazy. Engine died at 39,000 miles, battery died 3 times, fuse box is in need of replacement now ($1k repair), and more. Anyways, let's forget about my previously haunted car...

My girl was back in town and despite the exhaustion, I stepped out to see her and have a good ol time. We met up with a group of about 10 gals which I know through her.

I was mixed up as another gal at least two times (in the first two pics w me)! I don't mind bc she's totally gorge and smart as heck! People say it was the hair, you be the judge.

had a great time despite the massive amounts of drunk college students, several that spilled beer and red drinks on me 3 times...and students that don't know how to use the word "excuse me". At least I had a great group and free cokes, guess the bartenders were disappointed I wasn't drinking, haha.

I'm hit with tendonitis (wrist) and I can't do any real blog posts :( no fun. I've had the pain for over a week and decided to see a doctor Saturday and was given a hard splint.

I can however read blogs! I have 1000+ unread favorite blog posts...I need to get crackin! Hubs and I were sharing my laptop for a month...not easy to work around so I thought it best to not use it at all until he bought a new one, but now that he got one, the brace doesn't let me work effectively, LOL. I should be better in two weeks...if not I'm going back to physical therapy again.

Hustlin' and waxing my legs

i hustle on a daily basis, yup, daily everyone, i work hardcore for my paycheck...i kid i kid haha - for reals though, guess who'll be at the Lil' Wayne concert tonight at the Verizon center in Chinatown, DC? yup, you guessed it, me, tehehe. i got two tickets to our companies suite box and was planning on taking my hubs but he's not available :( so i got my girl M from work to go with me, we are super excited! i've been fortunate enough to have received a few box tickets in the past, just two weeks ago took my whole family to the Ringling Bros Circus!

random fact, have you noticed i use a lot of exclamation marks and "haha's" and "LOL's"?? it's because in real life i ~~obnoxiously laugh out loud~~ chuckle and express everything with big eyes and much excitement, that's just how i am, loca. anyways - i am super excited and can't wait to put together an outfit (last second as always since i never plan ish). onto more domestic topics...

i waxed my legs on my own for the first time with non-microwavable wax! OH MY GOSH, it did not hurt as much as i thought it would and took me an hour to do both legs (just half). with time i'll be more efficient and i'm sure i can get the time down to 30-40 min. so yesterday i had the smart idea of buying a wax system since i couldn't justify paying for both a brazilian wax and leg wax and i know for a fact i could never give myself a brazilian wax (i doubt anyone can do that whole thing on their own, LOL). then i further justified buying a wax system by reminding myself i could wax my arms, underarms, lip, chin, errrrythang! granted i was petrified with the idea of home waxing after reading so many horror stories...wax that doesn't come off for days, bruises, peeled off skin, etc.

i walked into sally's completely unaware of what they sell in terms of waxing systems, and of course i was more excited about going shopping than reading reviews and doing research...oi vey!

it was always the section i would skip =/ so of course i bought the most expensive system they had (you know...to be safe) ($64.99 with your Sally's Card) Gigi Mini Pro Kit (cheaper on amazon.com). since i was on the road the rest of the day i didn't get a chance to go home and try it, that means i had a chance to google reviews on the mini pro kit while sitting at red lights...that's where i realized everyone was complaining about the wax that the kit supplies and how worthless all the lotions and creams were. apparently the GiGi creme wax is crap, like super sticky and messy, when i say messy, i mean it doesn't adhere to the strips and stays on your skin, no bueno! so when i got a chance to go back to sally's last night i decided to immediately exchange it for the Suddenly Smooth Waxing System that was on sale BIG TIME, you get the wax (of your choice, i chose the Suddenly Smooth organic honey wax with argan oil), warmer, 5 collars (comes with the warmer), and 50 applicator sticks all for $29.99 (in store only -- online you get the warmer for $29.99, down from $43). i separately bought some Jilbere Euro Waxing System Non-Woven Waxing strips for $3 and GiGi's Wax Off for $10.

for some reason, all the items marked as suddenly smooth, are marked as Jilbere Euro on the website (they're the exact same items). granted the items I got did say Jilbere Euro on the bottom of the packaging. so who knows.

the instructions for the warmer are pretty good, considering i didn't burn down the house, haha! you set the warmer to power 10 after sliding the wax container and wax collar onto the warmer, let it warm up for 30 minutes for a full 14 oz container, every 10 minutes i took an applicator stick and stirred it just a bit to make sure the container warmed up evenly. after 30 minutes it was all warm and i turned it down to power 3 so it can just keep the wax warm and let it sit for 10 minutes just so the wax doesn't burn me. during those extra 10 minutes i washed my legs with african black soap (super cleanser), dried my legs completely, added baby powder with a cotton ball all over my legs, and laid down newspaper all over my bathroom floor. the baby powder helps in preventing the wax to stick to your skin and just to the hair and it helps guide you since it shows where you've already waxed (you don't want to double wax the same area...bad idea!).

i started the waxing process by applying thin layers at a 45 degree angle, going "SCHWAPPPP" and just sucking it up, honestly the wax did not hurt that much, certain areas with a lot of hair stung a bit but the rest was a breeze, the pain is the least of your worries, making sure you're very tidy with the wax to prevent making a mess should be your big worry, oh yeah, and burning yourself, just test the blasted wax ladies, don't be lazy ;-) -- also, make sure you buy a wax off to make sure that you get any wax you missed with the strips, the GiGi wax off is AH-MAYY-ZING and smells divine! you take the wax off and just rub on your legs then you take it all off with a tissue (per the instructions), i used a towel.

side note: if you want to experience pain, get a full on brazilian wax, the results are the freakin best, but dang, the pain had me screaming...no joke, the technician was obviously used to it, haha.

how much product did i use? i used about a 1/4 of the 14 oz wax container and 10 non-woven strips for each half leg.

how long did it take? from the moment i sat down to start waxing to when i completed clean up was a total hour, which imo is not so bad for a noobs. i will be waxing my lip, chin, legs, underarms, arms and my bikini when i can't go in for a brazilian at home from now on.

hows the cleanup? it was a breeze, i sealed the wax back up (left it in the warmer), put away all my supplies, and trashed all the newpaper, a couple sheets of newpaper had a couple gloops of wax.

in the long run this will save me bookah bucks and i can't wait to go buy another wax container (tomorrow night most likely, i got a $5 coupon from yesterdays receipt) and maybe a whole other set too. i'm so very glad i decided to go with the cheaper option, despite the sales associates saying the product was new in the store and they didn't have an opinion on the brand/system and despite the lack of reviews on the specific wax i picked (it's new). i will no longer use my epilator which hurts like a motha and no longer will i purchase the pre-glued sally hansen strips for my lip and chin (so far that's the plan since i haven't tried it yet). i will no longer purchase the surgi microwavable non-strips wax and i will no longer shave! freedom at last, ladies! shaving for me has always been a challenge, i have the worst reactions, no matter how good of a blade and cream i use, i always bleed (especially if i shave more than once a week...and i need it daily) and always get the biggest ingrown hairs, i'm talking about half an inch scars, it's horrible. With waxing I just have to use my clearasil cleaning pads daily to prevent ingrown hairs for both legs and where i've had my brazilian wax (my brazilian waxer gave me the tip, the few times i've had leg waxes i've been given no advice).

so, here are my questions, have you done home waxing and what kind have you used?

also, how do you feel about double dipping if you're only doing your legs (no bikini or lip) with that wax container?

any other waxes to recommend to me, so far i'm loving the organic honey wax with argan oil?

have you tried this system (could go under the name Satin Smooth or Jubilere Euro...imo they're the same)?

please ask me any questions that you may have, i know i wrote a lot and writing is not my forte, so forgive me if i don't make sense sometimes, haha.

Elizabeth Taylor died Wednesday at age 79 due to congestive heart failure. I don't really know all that much about Elizabeth Taylor other than she married 8 times, divorced 7 and widowed once, had a perfume line (White Diamonds which my mother still loves) and was an actress. After googling her I learned she was a huge jewelry collector and my jaw dropped as I saw all the jewelry she has sported and owned. I had no idea she was such a humanitarian too, she spent a lot of time raising money for fight against AIDS. She was a dear friend to Michael Jackson and gave him a 4 ton elephant once to add to Neverland.

my gf had come back into town and i planned on hauling my nikon d3000 to a night out...so as i pull out my camera to take pics of my amazing friends...the camera said i was missing a memory card!! wahhh, i can't believe taking a break from using my camera made me almost forget how to pack my camera, ugh. no worries, the photog of the night loved us and took several photos of us. per my girls request, i cut/pixelated her out of the pictures. you know who you are and i feel terrible not having you in the shot with us!!

Here we find another NOTD. I used Revlon's Top Speed in Siren. Pro's: stunning shade. Cons: streaky, uneven application, 2 coats is insufficient, rubbed off the tips of my nails within a couple days (with a base and top coat).

Here's just a piece of what that very memorable night looked like - if I recall, this was the biggest traffic mess ever in the DC area, people were in their cars for up to 13 hours, it was freaking Armageddon, no order on the roads and random cars left and right were abandoned or broke down...I'm just thankful we were able to get my father in law safely home.

i am so lucky

to have friends, i'll be honest, i used to think quantity over quality in terms of friends and i've come to realize that i was so wrong. took me a while to understand that b/c growing up i didn't have many friends. i was quite the ugly duckling and according to some blog trolls i still am. i only recall two good friends growing up but one stopped talking to me to hang with a cool group and another moved and lost contact with me. saying that i will have a few posts coming up with four of my best friends, Nat, Car, Laura, and Lily. Then I don't know how I could forget, an amazing bday weekend for my girl, R, it was my first trip to Ocean City since I was a kid, so it was a very memorable trip. Can't wait to share!

here you'll find Car's Bday celebration! it was a luau themed party and my butt had two other events earlier that day and just couldn't get a luah outfit together...womp womp --- and my makeup was a hot mess by this time, bahhh

the birthday party was so fun and believe it or not i had another birthday party afterwards, i was pooped for weeks from that one day!

as of now my emails are overloaded and i owe a couple amazing blogger friends some replies, i like to put all my energy into an email for people that take the time to listen to me, i'll get to you ladies, i promise!! this is probably why i can never get blog posts done, i want to make posts too long and detailed, i eventually convince myself the post doesn't have to be perfect and to just post it, argh, also, i just got over (almost) a major sinus infection, i was in bed for 5 days, didn't leave my bedroom, i only woke up to use the bathroom and eat, i am very lucky to have an amazing husband that tended to me every moment he was home. i am also grateful my job was so understanding (they probably think i love skipping work... au contraire, i take much pride in my work).

so there you go ladies and gents, i am back up and running and i can't wait to catch up on my google reader! i miss reading all my fav bloggers' posts

Christmas Eve NOTD with Gel Nail Polish

i should call it the notw (week)!

i must have been hiding under a rock, i just had my first gel manicure, no, not gel nails, gel nail polish, applied to natural nails. they're supposed to last about 3 weeks and are super glossy, the best part is as soon as the mani is done, you can go about as if your nails have been drying for an hour! it's most likely due to the fact you have to set the nail polish with a uv light. OPI and everyone says you're supposed to soak off the polish when you want to remove it (15 min process) but my girlfriends at work have been peeling theirs off for months with no issues (i can thank them for introducing me, you know who you are!). the gel manicure's won't break the bank too which is awesome! for a polish that'll last up to 3 times longer than a standard mani, i think the average price is worth it. my gel mani was $25 and a normal mani is $10 (at the standard nail salon here), i imagine the prices are higher at spa's.

so, ladies, any experience with gel nail polish? i have read a lot of bad reviews and they typically come from people having their nails done at a salon that doesn't really know how to use the nail polish or they're trying to do it at home without reading up on it first!

what's truly sad was the shooting and fatal accident that occurred right after due to a robbery...several guys tried to rob a guy at an apartment complex and they were attacked by the owner with his gun and they tried to leave so fast in their car that they crashed head on with another car in front of the complex...how do i know? i passed by the apartment to drop off my brother, 2 minutes later i drove out the complex and i couldn't leave due to the accident. oi vey...when will people learn

is everyone all set for christmas? i haven't wrapped a single gift, just had the tree put up last week and no xmas decorations in the house...i guess deep down inside i don't want to put up xmas decorations. i grew up without xmas so having xmas decorations in my house just feels tacky (i can get into that another day). i love it in everyone else's home, but in mines...ehhhh. i think i'll gradually get into the decorating spirit, give me a few more years!

that's what i was learning recently at a private pole dancing event. strippers deserve some credit ladies, okay, they may not be saving for college but they work hard! the quiet girls did the best job and i'm so not a quiet chick, so i struggled (the fact i have hyper-mobile joint syndrome & I was sick didn't help haha)! take a look at how much fun we had!

everyone started out with heels on and took them off as soon the class started

we had tons of booze, champagne, mike's lemonade, etc (being tipsy and learning the moves was not easy, lol)

i was the only one to wear heels the whole time!

ewww, sweaty pits, lol

towards the end C put on her heels (it's actually easier with heels on)

also, the instructor was so awesome, she was holding herself up there for a good minute, we had user issues when someone tried to use my camera, we were so scared she'd fall on us (hence the awkward stance) LOL!

and for all the haters that have come across a beauty blogger i love (she knows who she is b/c she is sad i'm switching from a blackberry to the htc evo! no more bbm'ing for us, *sad*)

Long lost OOTN/OOTD

You guys know how bad I've been this year in terms of posting photos, it really irritates me! I don't have the time or the energy. Work is beyond craziness, working 12 hour days, my commute has been extended by 2 hours every day since we moved our HQ to Washington, DC. Don't get me wrong, I like being in DC...but commuting there is redonkulous, no joke!! I hate the Metro system (i follow blogs specifically created to point out all the IDIOTS that ride and work at the Metro), I hate the traffic, I hate the $300-$500/month parking fee's, the stupid parking signs that contradict each other, I hate it all. My first few days in DC I was very confused, taxes felt inflated, so I asked several cashiers why the total was higher...only one was able to yell there's a 10% tax on all food. Then there's the 5 cent surcharge on every bag you get at a food establishment, that doesn't bother me, it's just less to go into a landfill. So my lunches are much more expensive now (not due to the tax though) and the customer service in DC compared to Bethesda, MD (couple miles out of DC) does not compare!! I hate people that have a job and make it very clear they hate & don't care about their job. Suck it up, be glad you have a job! I sure am, despite my complaints I put on a good face! I've had way too many fights with people in DC, way too many and for so many reasons. I need to just accept that people are mean in DC. smh --- wait a minute, wasn't this post on long lost ootn's? tangents...i am the queen of tangents

i think i'm venting b/c i lost a best friend to cancer Saturday @ 2 am (23 yo) and i'm trying to hold myself together. i will attend the wake tomorrow night and the funeral wednesday. i ask you pray for the family please.
