I'm sure the Honduran government wasn't expecting him to do what he said. This is my second visit to Hoduras, El Progreso, and I’m already wishing for a Walmart. I’m glad to hear that somewhere nearby is coming up in the ways of the supermarket. Is it possible to bring things like cans of tuna in luggage from the US? I’m not sure what is allowed and what isn’t. I brought some cheese danish in my carry on bag that no one seemed to notice but they pulled out my candy canes thinking it was drugs. Very interesting airport in San Pedro. I’d love to follow this blog....glad to read something in English myself.

Re: What's the Honduran government's cut of your travel costs? | La Gringa's Blogicito

Thank you for any other excellent post. I'm in Nairobi and even though we don't have the kind of heat - or creepy crawly creatures like you do/did in Honduras - I still hate waster. I put my sugar in the sugar dish and then stood it in another bowl of water just like you showed. Guess what I found the following day? A bunch of dead ants in the water and now I can use my sugar instead of tossing it. Thanks again :)

Re: How much does it cost to buy a house in Honduras?

Every country I've been to and I have been to many have a median construction price for housing and it's usually calculated by sq meter. (Now 23). My family is from Ocotopeque and San Pedro Sula. We have never ever used cranberry sauce or pumpkin pie filling. I definitely remember the "gallina india" and the chicken sandwiches and the tamales. And usually in my family and all the other parties I've gone to, no one leaves the house to be merry outside. You have you're family, food and booze in one spot. The youngins go to sleep and everybody of age stays up and drinks and dances until you hear the rooster. which then means it's time for some "cafecito con pan ".
My family does dinner ( not everyone has to be there at the same time, we understand that people work) then some booze and dancing band once midnight hits, you go outside, light the fireworks and give every single one of your family a hug and an "I love you." Also. Can't forget about the "pino" scattered across the floor to make it look and smell nice. Yay xmas!

For dinner we usually have our chicken, rice, beans, salad, tamal, chicken sandwich and maybe a tres leches cake.

Re: Honduran comida tipica (typical food)

You have to boil your tamales! You are dealing with raw meat, steaming them will not cook the inside of the tamale.
