Remember These Dramas? Part 2

Well last time we talk about how the latin dramas barged in malaysia's entertaiment arena. As of today, this post will provide you an insight on the Filipinos dramas that is used to be part of everyone favourite things to watch list. "Pangako Sayo" is one of them. Apart from being a little bit on the nonsensical side, Pangako Sayo offers dreams and wishes of what a modern day cinderella would hope for. The drama also features the traditional,streotypical asian mother of the boyfriend that cannnot accept the fact that her future daughter in law is living in the dirt poor area of Manila. Nevertheless the love of Yna Macaspac (played by the ever so lovely Kristine Hermosa) and Angelo Buenavista (portrayed by Jericho Rosales) survived despite the bitter life that they have to go through. Pangako Sayo garnered Malaysian attention for its actors and actresses. Jericho Rosales and Kristin Hermosa name bloomed and their popularity are unimaginable at certain point (too hyperbolic).

"Bituin" is another Filipinos soap Drama that won hearts of Million Malaysians. Unlike "Pangako Sayo", "Bituin" stresses the story of desperation and how a mother of 2 daughters sacrificed to save the life of her daughter. The story goes as Laura Sandoval (Nora Aunor) who lived a very simple life encountered a situation where she had to save the life of one of her daughter, Melody (Carol Banawa)who fall ill by giving another daughter of her Bernadette ( Desiree Del Valle) to her rich half sisters as a token for saving Melody. From that point on the story spinned off. Bernadette becomes a singer after living in America for years. Melody who also have a beautiful voice is also aspired to be a singer. The worst thing is both of them fall in love with the same men. What a story!!!. and the rest of it is history.

Sudah 3 tahun bertapak di bumi IIUM kuantan. Dan selama itulah bermacam aktiviti dah diperbuat bagi memenuhi masa yang terlebih lapang especially bagi budak-budak sciencess yang agak free memanjang. Lepaih siap jer esemen ha apa lagi pergi karok la, movie la and of course makan. Sini nak citer la jugak pengalaman indahku (hik3x). dalam 3 tahun kebelakangan nie banyak transformasi yang telah dijalankan di IIUM kuantan terchenta (sangat). pembangunan silih berganti. Pokok2 ditebang-tebang macam cabut lalang jer kat sini.beruk monyet dan segala macam fauna ciptaan tuhan bertempiaran lari seperti mr .

Keindahan kuantan memang terserlah la sangat especially time bulan2 yang cenggini when the monsoon season come...tau2 lah paginye sejuk kemain..and at noon it become so hot and so unbearable to our eyes and skin...(dah tukar kaler jadi ala2 kaler dodol gitu) never the less there are so many things that Kuantan can offer besides the heat and rain...and bukit pelindung is one of them

Akhirnya pertama kali berblog dalam bahasa melayu.Bahasa ibundaku yang tercinta (ceywah). setelah berkurun lamanya blog ini berkapuk dan berhabuk....dapat juga diteruskan penceritaan dalam blog yang tidak semenggahnya ini. Hari ini mari bercerita tentang hujan. "Hujan yang turun bagaikan mutiara" begitulah indahnya fenomena alam ini seperti yang digambarkan Allahyarham Sudirman dalam lagunya.. cube kite lihat langit hari ini Hujan tak pernah berubah. Turun mengikut aturan alam dalam kiraan dan jumlah yang berbeza. Kadang - kadang sikit ..kadang-kadang banyak tapi kadang-kadang tak turun pun..Kadang - kadang bila ada matahari (fenomena hujan panas) timbul pulak si pelangi....cantiknya alam anugerah ilahi. Hujan turun kain jemuran pun kenela diangkat...macam cerita p. Ramlee tu "ani angkat kain hari dah hujan" (pendekar bujang lapok)...maka hari yang panas tadi menjadi suram, sejuk dan lembap. Cendawan pun tumbuh melata....Hujan menggamit nostalgia dalam hidup setiap manusia. Teringat waktu kecik2 dulu di kampung...bila hujan ada jer bende nak direka. dulu dekat anjung rumah opah mesti ada satu salur yang secara semula jadi terwujud bila hujan turun...masa tu la nak annoy ayah supaya dia buatkan bot kertas sebab nak tengok bot kertas tu berlayar...tapi kejap jer pastu bot pon tenggelam...bukan main seronok dengan bot kertas...Opah pulak menyelinap ke dapur...masak air buat teh..... manis bukan main...

Kalau tengok kat Astro Discovery channel mesti ada cerita pasal hujan...tanah kering kontang jadi hidup bila hujan. Air mencurah-curah dalam sungai yang dulu hampir kering ....hebatnya kuasa hujan ciptaan tuhan ini...Rahmat yang menyejukkan...menyegarkan..kerana itulah ada pulak budak group band underground buat nama kumpulan dorang hujan...

Itulah hujan...dalam seronok hujan pon ada dukanya.. bila da terlampau banyak bah pon menjelma.Habis tenggelam apa yang ada dalam laluannya. Binatang ternakan jangan dikira semua jadi mangsa kerakusan air hujan yang bergelen-gelen turunnya.tapi biarlah idup kite ini seperti hujan...turun menyenangkan tapi jangan sampai jadi bah menyesak dan menyusahkan....birlah kita mengalir lembut dalam ketengan daripada deras yang menyakitkan.....ok lah tu nanti kite sembang la lagi ok..

varieties....the best word to describe my lovely homeland Malaysia... well, for all that i know there is no other ways of describing the multi-everything of this country. foods,clothes,festivals...i had a blast living peacefully here. But forget all these country-loving cliché craps that i wrote...well because today i'd love explaining to you guys of some things that will enable you make a trip back down the memory lane...once we all knew and loved(just generalizing)that is watching dramas on TV. hmm so to ignite those memory back, let me just "explained" (uggh...so school-like) several soap operas that we used to fall in love with. the first one is la intrusa.Yes, the magnificent story of virginia martinez (played by the mother of all mexican drama actresses, Gabriella Spanic)and her evil twin sister Vanesssa Martinez (which is also played by the same actress). who could forget how awful Vanessa is to her fairy like sister virginia. When Vanessa married rodrigo just to take care off the spoiled brat that he had at the time. tragic!!!.but of course she made it through against her devil like sister who just wanna reap those money that rodrigo left(ofcourse after his death) for her to take care off.well it ended happily( haha love watching latin dramas).

The next heart-wrenching show is quite similar to la intrusa that is la usurpadora...well guess what gabriela spanic just love being a twin. As this story has a quite similar synopsis to la intrusa. wathching the drama at the time was kinda like deja vu..except that paola and paulina(the anti parallel twin sisters) are separated and met after years of separation. At least Carlos daniel bracho finally married the good one(Paulina).

Well next come betty...yes Yo soy betty lafea who made her debut in NTV 7 during the early milennium..(both la usurpadora and la intrusa were on TV2). Who dont know betty...a good worker, a great supporter of her handsome boss, armando mendoza. the story goes as she try to rescue Armando mendoza's company from bankruptcy and how she was reminded by everyone of how ugly she is (oooh poor betty)..all in all betty got beautiful and finally she got together with Armando( GOOd for HIM!!) and they had a baby..(WHAT A NICE SUPRise)actually before this particular drama there's another one on NTV7 it's "maria mercedes" played by the one and only thalia...(.i'm not gonna elaborate more on this drama you gotta search it in wikipedia...its just a beatiful drama you guys should watch it...)

TV3 than land on its first latin soaps opera..Rosalinda...It's a story of how a people loving, kind hearted, village girl..Rosalinda(potrayed by thalia)who worked as a florist keeper, deliver her flowers ordered by a handsome hunk, Fernando jose and fall in love with the man. The story includes plot that are kind of mind blowing as well. One of'em is rosalinda was saved from a fire at the asylum in which she was treated after losing her mind. later,she got amnesia and forgot her name.she was then known as a singer named Paloma Dorantes after being discovered by a new lover aka a talent agent(alejandro alex) which made her rose into a great singer.finally she remembered being married to fernando jose.She got back together with the jose after going through such a harsh route of life.

well that's it from me for this particular post.Later we look at some dramas from other countries that used to be popular here in Malaysia before ....see ya'll later......tata

Malaysian Food phenomenon (part 2)

i've talked about how foreign food company infiltrated Malaysian food industry in my last post..so today i would like to tell you how has the condition changed since then. well finally i believe the road has taken to a whole new direction. In 1997 the franchise of secret recipe restaurant has been able to make its way into Malaysians' tummies and believe it or not this high end, classy cafeteria has capture the heart of Malaysians since it's debut days. The company's provision in taking care to cater it's muslims customers has become the major magnet that attracts Malaysians( which mostly are muslims) to come and dine in. Their cakes were just magnificent. in fact, due to its unending popularity it has expanded its wings to other asian countries like the Philippine, thailand and china. Thus, it is no surprise for this multi-million company to be established in other region including the USA and Europe. well it all started from the little steps of kelantanese chinese who experienced and developed recipes for the foods served. It's this man hardwork that brings Secret Recipe on top. Datuk steven Sims is the person behind this success. hahaha( i guessed those cheesecake could help me now somehow) really craving those cheesecake right now!!!

Well what i could say is that at least we have someone who's from its own country to be able to reap the wealth. Here's another one, The Chicken Rice Shop.. it is truly a good restaurant that serve chinese hainanese based food that sells like hot cakes these days. The foods are so amazing. They are fresh and most importantly, refreshing.

As for me i still prefer the good all time street foods that made me drool all over just by thinking of them.... hmm well i guess Malaysians are not bad at competing with those american brands....Good for Malaysia ...Malaysia boleh!!!!

Malaysians food phenomenon (part 1)

When we talk about serving ourselves, indulging in foods that intrigue our taste buds we sometimes overlook at the phenomenon that ones struck Malaysia. Well guess what i'm gonna share an inside of the "phenomenon" with you guys. Well it starts with a story...once upon a time......arghhh enough with the lame introduction hahah(losing my mind)well anyway the story goes...when i was a kid i live in an apartment in the bustling city of Kuala Lumpur. My family was not too well off at the time. our home was literally the size of a box of about 150 - 200 ft sq in size. we lived up and away reaching the clouds at the 14th level. It was a fun and lovely house before we moved to a much comfortable cozy home in Gombak. (this is not seri serawak flat but my house kinda look like this once)

At the time the tv always advertised an array of fast food restaurants such as KFC(kentucky fried chicken) that emphasize on the crispness and tenderness of their american style deep fried chicken. I was tempted and i would forced my mom to buy me one when she goes out teaching ( she's a teacher at the local convent school in peel road). Well i was always turned down....the reasons were it's not healthy and it's not affordable (in 1998 rm 10 was considered too expensive for a meal). however we got the taste of the crispy crumbly fried chicken when i scored good marks in my examination(thank god!!). that evening mama and ayah (my dad and mom) treated me with the snack plate, one of kfc's delights. (kfc's menu hardly changed since it's establishment. Only just the addition of the usual meal)Well my thought of kfc at the time was WOA!!!! fast food was made for the posh. T.T

From my story can you see how such incident affected our mind (those from the middle and lower income family). Up until today many people think that going for a drink at these restaurants (those that has undergone the branding for trademark) are considered to be lofty and filthy rich. There are so many kindda restaurants that has been growing like crazy over a decade. A&W, Mcdonald and Dunkin donuts are some other examples of the foreign companies that has critically set Malaysians' minds so that we think that these places are a social loafing spots for the loaded couch potatoes from all over the country.

In a retrospect, i can conclude that our mind have been shaped over these years so that the rich are like separated from the middle and lower social class society. The situation left quite a scar for Malaysians as those from the upper class social status brag about how they are able to spend their money and be socially active in these spots. hmm ok that is for the first part of my study about malaysia food phenomenon see me in the later post on how malaysia changed today....seee ya!!!

after the completion of my 1st semester in the university now i am able to update the blog that i had left for a very long time....hihihih anyway....now i'm so bored that i do not know what to do so i decided to play the game that i used to don't like "The Sims" and its the third season anyway.nevertheless i had alot of fun playing this game......

It has been a very long time since i've blogged into this lovable blog of mine. i consider myself lucky to be able to enter this digital world back after a long hiatus. sorry guys....ahhhhh......so sweet and refreshing...the air in this digital,robotic, mechanical world..after a long period of daunting classes on Saturday and Sunday,finally i'm able to scrutinized the blog that i have unattended for past few weeks.The hectic life in IIUM make me realize how tough it is living away from family at the far east of this lovely country of mine. even the fasting month has arrived signalling the calling of human to purify themselves and meet the one and only god(Allah S.W.T).Now,what i want to share is about kuantan bus terminal,situated close to the kuantan darul makmur stadium.

Yesterday my friends and i decided to go through the traffic jam in kuantan city in the search of our "raya" ticket. After fauwaz done with his issue pertaining to the 'ptptn' loan in muamalat bank...we ride the bike till we arrived at the bus station.

we parked our bikes and climb the staircase to reach the upper part of the station.The old blue building is a real nostalgic site reminding me of 1980's malaysia.arriving at the first level of the bus terminal....i myself was searching here and there for the express bus that will take me to my destination,tapah,perak. so my first target is the bus express under the company ##per ##ce...huh!!! (protecting the company identity) i asked him with my mother tongue,: "hmm,tiket untuk ke tapah ada tak pada 3/9 nie" which means:"hmm, sir is the ticket for the bus to tapah, perak available on this coming 3rd of september" the person behind the counter replied:"takde..takde" which means:"no...no(angrily)" and he then with his vinegar like sour face continue reading his me##o newspaper....ugh i said..luckily i'm fasting...i was so shocked with the bad service provided.Aren't this people implement even the slightest of societal politeness in their life...these type of people really make me wanna puke. For what reason are they being so arrogant..(maybe due to hungriness in ramadan)hahaha!!. then i myself again search for another counter and yet the same scene replayed..what a shame..finally i got my ticket which available on 4th of september at the counter of UTAMA express...RM40.80 quite expensive huh!!anyway i did not really care about the price as long as i can go back home for this raya...hihi..After we all bought our ticket we decided to go for a walk and buy our food for the iftar (breaking fast) that evening.

A few meters away from the terminal we arrive at kuantan bazar ramadan(or the bazaar of ramadan). This is one of the biggest bazaar in the whole city of kuantan for this ramadan..luckily the food sellers were very nice except that the food is too expensive...murtabak is like rm5.00 per piece..

i may have to think thrice before buying it hahahaa..after all the sight seeing and buying the foodstuff for the iftar, we drove off home back to our mahallah(hostel) at 6 pm...ok i think that's all for now bye

For the past few days, i've been very busy with my life...registration ,taaruf and everything is damn so tiring.meeting new people make me realize i am truly in a foreign surrounding.Kuantan is a big city full of light culture and the most important part of it is the food. I just love the varieties."sata(fish paste wrapped in banana leaf and baked till it is yummy enough to be eaten),"otak-otak"(same as "sata" but wrapped in rectangular pieces rather than in pyramidal shaped of the "sata" and the "ikan bakar",the baked fish..One word to describe all of the delicacies DELICIOUS!!!.

Japanese pop culture had strucked Malaysia in the late 90's and the acceptation by the Malaysian is humongous.People nowadays are more leaning toward the glory of the j-pop(Japanese pop culture) than Malaysian pop culture itself.The development of this fondness is the product of massive japanese media blasting several japanese dramas that is so appealing, especially for Malaysian teens.

People in their 20's,university students,and young couples who are especially attracted to this media exposure are increasing.They are willing to even spend some of their money and time just to study japanenese language so that they have a better understanding of what they are watching. Even television in Malaysia are currently showing the syndicated version of these dramas that make them earn millions through the advertisements.However, the fascination doesn't stop at dramas. Movies,songs,manga,anime and tv programmes has created the j-pop funfair,charming its viewer with the entertainment embroidering the western civilization with eastern courtesy.

Today..the craze doesn't stop at liking or idolizing the j-pop.There are also malaysian who is dare enough to venture into Japanese entertainment scene. A Malaysian student, Aizudin Anuar or in japan better known as Aizdean had his singing career rooted in Japan.He debuted in the midst of 2009 with his single entitled...I Need You Baby/ONE followed by several other singles that he had recorded.Later he himself with his recording label company, Hudson Music Entertainment co produce his first album entitled, “Hadiah – The First Step” he even has one of the songs as a soundtrack for an Anime.Aizdean reportedly will comeback with a new single album,"Show Me The Glory" this month. We as fellow Malaysian should be proud with this achievement as this could promote Malaysia more in the future.....

Today is wednesday and tomorrow is thursday. What a pain in the neck i have. I've come to a new journey in my entire life where i have to decide everything on my own.Maybe we used to asked on everything for our parents or friends to ponder on.Some question include what should we wear,What clothes is suitable for us,what should we eat etc...and the list go on and on and on.But do we realize the fact that we are bigger and our parents are becoming older.Some might say that,"sudahlah don't bother your parents" or they might have said "eiih awak tu da besar tak malu ker nk ngadu kt mak bapak lagi".Whatever it is, our parents are the people yang "melahirkan kite dan membesarkan kita".

Love our parents... we are thought to do so..i so like believe that we maybe should not bother our parents with petty questions that may bother them.However i also believe that they are also important when we do need their thoughts on crucial thing like should we change our uni course or should we marry someone. And it would never kill them to answer those kind of questions.we should love our parents like how they love us since like from"sebesar jari kelingking" to as tall as one of my "pokok kelapa" at my back yard..hihi.Anyway,prophet Muhammad SAW also told us to love our parents as much as we can..

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: A person came to Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and asked, "Who among people is most deserving of my fine treatment?'' He (PBUH) said, "Your mother". He again asked, ``Who next?'' "Your mother", the Prophet (PBUH) replied again. He asked, "Who next?'' He (the Prophet (PBUH)) said again, "Your mother.'' He again asked, "Then who?'' Thereupon he (PBUH) said,'' Then your father.''

In another narration: "O Messenger of Allah! Who is most deserving of my fine treatment?'' He (PBUH) said, "Your mother, then your mother, then your mother, then your father, then your nearest, then nearest".

so... isn't this enough to show you how important our parents are...

Off to cameron highland with my family in the weekend..at first we dicided to go on saturday and have our heads laid on one of the Cameron Highlands hotel but as time went on we realized its already 12 pm and checking in late is so "merugikan" so we change our travelling time to tomorrow on sunday.This are all my sister faultlah she has some kind of 'kursus' in school that we postponed the holiday...arghh

the next day, we traveled uphill into the glory of malaysian rain forest, masyaallah i said what a beauty....Although the road is quite Topsy turvy and bengkang-bengkok,and my sister barfing up several time ewh!!... huh!! what a surprised we had as cameron is really actually cold (in the morninglah) the thick fog covering the hidden scenery of the rainforest is able to attract the nature junky like me haha!!

All the sight seeing we had in the strawberry park uphill, left us with empty stomach as morning approaches the afternoon. My mom said"Angah jom kite pegi beli ayam goreng kat marrybrown tu" at that point, i certainly become "syok x tentu pasal",and my mom and i go and grab some fried chicken ice cream and stuffs... my sister said 'what a relief...'

we found a nice cozy park with chairs and we sat down enjoying our home-made nasi goreng and marrybrown hot chicken (yup its really hot and spicy!!!).haaaa!!!urp alhamdulillah i said. now our journey continue, to the bharat tea plantation with the tea plant spread out like a carpet.It is a relief for our eyes and mind to see the majestic nature of God's creation....
