They pinned it still not being all rebuilt on Bobby Jindal. Before it was all Bush's fault and now that Obama has been president a year and really done nothing with all his magic dust... we have to blame someone and how convenient is it that their governor has an R behind his name.

Cheech and Chong are going on tour to promote the legalization of marijuana. M'kay, these two guys are the perfect stereotype of dumb loser potheads are going out to tell America this stuff should be legal.

My personal opinion is that if you have to self medicate with something that may send you to jail you have bigger problems than needing this stuff to be legal. The only way this would be good for anyone, is for the government to spend less on criminal trials for drug charges and an increased revenue from taxes.

What Charlie Gibson said to Cindy Sheehan

RUSH: You know, when Cindy Sheehan was all revved up and protesting outside George Bush's Crawford, Texas, home and marching around, she did meet with McCain, and after the meeting she called him a warmonger. I always said at the time that I felt sorry for her. This woman was devastated by the loss of her son. She couldn't get over it and she was trying to find some meaning to it, and she was used. A leftist PR firm in San Francisco decided to adopt her and promote her story as a way of continually harassing the Bush administration, to defeat our Iraq objectives and policies. She was used by these people. I was angry at her but at the same time I felt sorry for her because she was just a pawn. She was just a pawn, and I knew like every other pawn that the Democrats use when they're finished with them they throw 'em away, they just get rid of them. Once they've served their purpose they just become a statistic.

So this week in Chicago on our affiliate WLS, The Big 89, Charlie Gibson, the anchor of ABC's World News Tonight with Peter Jennings was talking to the host up there, Don Wade, about Cindy Sheehan. And Don Wade noted all the coverage that Sheehan had received in 2005, and he asked Charlie Gibson whether we're going to see some coverage of Cindy Sheehan as she goes up to Martha's Vineyard to protest Obama because he's still in Iraq and he's still got us in Afghanistan. And here is what Charlie Gibson said: "It's such a sad story. Martha Raddatz [of ABC News] wrote a terrific book about one battle that took place in Iraq, and it was the battle in which Cindy's son was killed. And you look at somebody like that and you think here's somebody who's just trying to find some meaning in her son's death. And you have to be sympathetic to her. Anybody who has given a son to this country has made an enormous sacrifice, and you have to be sympathetic. But enough already." Enough already, Cindy.

You know, so after going through all the proper, oh, she's a sympathetic figure, so sad, trying to find meaning, why did her son die, has it really helped anything, is it really an honor for her and her country that her son gave her life in battle and so forth. When she's out there revving up people against George W. Bush, it's, let's cover her 24/7, let's make sure we have our cameras out there outside Bush's ranch when she's there, whatever she's saying, whatever she's doing, if she goes down and meets with Hugo Chavez, our cameras will be there. They could not get enough of her. Now that she's headed to Martha's Vineyard, the State-Controlled Media, Charlie Gibson, State-Controlled Anchor, ABC: "Enough already." Cindy, leave it alone, get out, we're not interested, we're not going to cover you going to Martha's Vineyard because our guy is president now and you're just a hassle. You're just a problem. To these people, they never had any true, genuine emotional interest in her. She was just a pawn. She was just a woman to be used and then thrown overboard once they're through with her and they're through with her. They don't want any part of Cindy Sheehan protesting against any war when Obama happens to be president.

Walmart is Promoting Obamacare

I just heard a commercial on the radio in favor of health care reform. To paraphrase "We won't stop until every American is insured" and it was put on by Walmart. I know they care so deeply about this matter since only 47% of their employees are covered. I guess because their profit margin is so low they can't do better by their employees.

There has been lots of talk about this logo. Some say it looks like the Nazi logo.

The biggest problem I have is that Obama's campaign logo being a part of it. That is just disturbing to me. This is not Obama's country it's our country it's the United States of America. His propaganda logo has no place here.

Yes, at times I'm a bit slow but with my five lovely children running around sometimes my mind is on other things.

Tonight it just dawned on me that apparently Cash for Clunkers has been a big success. BUT, it's been less than a year ago that banks didn't have money to loan and now they must be turning out tons of loans for cars right. Aren't cars a bigger risk than a house? Maybe even a riskier loan in a down economy where unemployment seems to be going up on a daily bases.

So, banks still have TARP funds. Dealers still have the money they "borrowed". Now the government is giving out more money than even my parents in my lifetime would have given me for a down payment on a car. Interesting.

This is the part of the circus where everything is at the middle at once and you just can't look at one act or you may miss another.

I thought in honor of Obama's birthday I would bake a cake but first, I'm going to go to all the neighbors' houses and collect all the ingredients I need. I'm sure that he would totally approve of this method. :o)

Then I would love to have Obama over for a party, perhaps we could serve some tea.

Then it would be time for him to open gifts. I would start with giving him a new shirt. I think it would go nicely with his mom jeans.

Then I would give him a nice iPod with a great speech on it like the one below.

I saw that on the Yahoo homepage that Obama is going on vacation. My first thought wasn't even about the money, nope, that came second. My first thought was, don't most people have to work at their job for a year before they get a week of vacation.

Obamas Headed for Vineyard Vacation

It's hard to pick the perfect escape when you're the leader of the free world. But word has it that the Obamas have found the hideaway they need: A 28-acre, $20-million property on Martha's Vineyard Island, off the coast of Massachusetts, called Blue Heron Farm. The 10,000-square-foot retreat has everything a president wanting some downtime needs, including a swimming pool, basketball court, and golf tee. And it is even dog-friendly.

The Obama family will pay its own way for a one-week getaway at the end of August, and it's not cheap: Rents reportedly run from $35-$50,000 a week for similar homes. (Not surprisingly, the town of Chilmark, where they're headed, was voted the most expensive small town in America a couple years back. And that was before the First Family said they'd be coming.)

While it may seem elitist in mid-recession to turn up at an exclusive resort, consider this: The Secret Service rejected some 20 other vacation spots before Blue Heron Farm got the seal of approval.

As the AP notes, the Obamas' visit is not as bad as you think—it actually adds to the rich history of the place: In the old days, black families vacationed on the island because they were unwelcome elsewhere. Now prominent African Americans who choose to spend their summers there include director Spike Lee, Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. (yes, that Henry Louis Gates), and Obama's Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett.

The cost of taking a week's vacation when you are the president is undoubtedly high. But the value of family time, we're sure, is priceless.

Land of the Taxed and Home of the Apathetic

Could you imagine your mayor, congressman, senator, governor, or president just coming up to you and looking through your wallet, taking out whatever money they so choose and handing your wallet back to you? Most people don't think of it this way and honestly I didn't used to.

I guess it really hit me one day while I was making out my house payment. I thought about how I had a 30 year mortgage and if I paid x amount how much sooner I could get it paid for. Then it hit me, my house will never be paid for! My house and property belong to the government. Long after the mortgage company is paid I will still never be the owner of what my husband and I have worked so hard for. Crazy huh!

Then I got to thinking about the other things that we pay taxes on, at least where I live. My car, as long as I own my car, even long after it's paid for the government gets their share unless I just decide to park it in the garage and never move it. Yup, every year we pay for those license plates, and if you don't and you get caught driving, you get a ticket. We all know too that ticket money goes to the government.

It's everywhere, those of us who have sales tax, business must pay an inventory tax, taxes on utilities, fuel tax, sin taxes, and the list goes on.

Sadly, I can't think of anything you could do that one isn't taxed on. Yet, most of the everyday people don't even think about it we just go off to work and come home tired and do it all over and over again while Uncle Sam decides how much he wants and what he wants to use it for.

I know I need to study more about what our founding fathers believed in when it came to taxes. I admit I was a slacker in high school. I don't pretend to be much more now. I will say though whatever the founding fathers had in mind, I don't believe it was what it has become.

Yes, he said it but what do you really expect from a guy that talks about eating at diners that have been closed for years. Oh and that comment about the 7-11 workers, now that was classic, oh and the thing about the great depression and how the nation learned about it back then on TV. I love it.

What gets me though... is that with old crazy Joe second in command, just a (former? drug user and smoker's) heartbeat away from the highest post in the nation and the dems have the nerve to say Palin wasn't smart enough to be vice president. I mean really it makes me want to ask the first dem I see... How's that medical marijuana working out for you?

U.S. House debates dealer-closing bill; vote set for later today

Washington -- The U.S. House of Representatives completed two hours of debate this afternoon on a spending bill that includes a provision that seeks to reverse the closing of 789 Chrysler Group LLC dealers and the planned closing more than 2,000 General Motors Co. dealers.

House Appropriations Committee chairman David Obey, D-Wis., strongly backed the provision, noting that GM and Chrysler have received billions in loans, $1 billion for a "Cash for Clunkers" program, $2 billion in battery research funding and $300 million for the federal government to buy new advanced technology vehicles.

"This Congress has provided $60 billion in funding to the auto industry. I think that somehow to suggest that they have been abused ... is in my view off the point," Obey said. "I hardly think they have been underprivileged in terms of their treatment by this Congress."

Obey said dealers are entitled to a "decent review process, a decent appeals process."

Obey said the language in the bill will change when the House and Senate negotiate over the bill, but he said it was written as a lever to force the automakers and dealers "sit down and work out a better appeals process."

Rep. John Dingell, D-Dearborn, said the bill could "jeopardize" the recovery of both GM and Chrysler and the taxpayer funds invested in the automakers and lead to a "serious disaster."

"If the auto industry goes down because we have taken sides in a quarrel between the auto industry and the dealers, we will have destroyed not only the dealers that complain, but all of the other dealers," Dingell said on the House floor. "We are playing with fire here."

A vote on the bill is set for later this afternoon.

Despite a White House statement saying it "strongly opposes" efforts to hamstring GM and Chrysler's efforts to slim down their dealer networks, the financial services and general government spending bill is expected to pass later today. Its fate in the Senate is uncertain.

Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said he wasn't inclined to take up the dealer bill, but 25 senators have now signed onto a bill to reverse the closings.

Last week, Rep. Steve LaTourette, R-Ohio, attached an amendment to the bill in the House Appropriations Committee that was passed by a voice vote seeking to restore the dealer agreements of about a quarter of Chrysler dealers that were closed on June 9. GM has sent closing notices to 1,340 dealers, but it has reversed those decisions in 70 instances. GM expects another 1,250 dealers will close their doors voluntarily by the end of next year.

"We will not as taxpayers in this country give billions to General Motors and Chrysler until they come to terms with the hundreds of thousands of people they have put out of work," LaTourette said today on the House floor.

The National Automobile Dealers Association says the closing dealers could result in 170,000 job losses nationwide. But GM and Chrysler say it is imperative they reduce their dealer networks, to ensure the remaining dealers are more profitable. They also say the cuts will reduce their costs.

GM and Chrysler have received about $65 billion in taxpayer loans. The companies had the ability to cancel dealer agreements because they both were in bankruptcy protection. Bankruptcy law gives companies wide latitude to terminate previous business contracts.

LaTourette said the closings are the result of "the goofy action of an unelected task force and now the car companies taking advantage."

The Obama administration forced both automakers into bankruptcy after the White House rejected the automakers restructuring plans.

Rep. Shelia Jackson Lee, D-Texas, also criticized the closings, calling it an "atrocity."

"Let us get Chrysler and GM at the table to restore the ownership of these dealerships ...," she said on the floor of the House. "Get these car dealers back doing their jobs."

I have great respect for Sarah Palin. She isn't afraid of upsetting the applecart, heck she'll turn it over, and make applesauce. Sweet!

Palin is just the voice to challenge the current administration. She speaks the common sense that we are so yearning for. The critics may dog her for not having a pedigree. Well, I could care less if she knows which fork to use (and I'm sure she does) as long as she sticks it to the idiots in D.C.
