Glacier National Park – Montana

My oldest daughter, Rebekah, arrived this weekend from Texas in the care of my dad and mother-in-love, Teresa. We spent the weekend at Glacier National Park and it was nothing short of extraordinary and breathtaking to say the very least. Sunday morning we hiked two miles to Avalanche Lake on the west side of Glacier and arrived just in time to see a Grizzly sow (momma) with her two cubs!!! Here’s a shot I got and a few others of my favorites from the weekend.

I had such a wonderful time with this darling couple at the Rivers Bend Lodge located in beautiful Paradise Valley, Montana. The scenery was gorgeous, the lodge was sumptuous and they were fun.

It’s hard to believe that we are already in February! Emily Kate sent me a text message last week wanting to know if I was going to design custom Valentines for them this year. Well of course I said, “Yes!” So this weekend I picked out these recent photos of them taken while they were in Montana and designed these two cards. This year’s design is more focused on the picture than any digi elements.

I still can’t get used to all the wildlife you can see just driving from place to place here in Montana. This weekend I was up around Flathead Lake and saw a lot of bald eagles. These eagles were in a tree and I think I lost count at 5 or 6! Regardless of how many there were, they were beautiful to watch and photograph.

{Big Horn Sheep}

I could hardly believe that this group of Big Horn Sheep were just on the side of a busy road. And best of all was that, as usual, I had my camera and zoom lens handy. For a while I thought for sure that two of them were going to start “butting heads”, but alas one of them was playing it cool and ignored the other.

{first peoples buffalo jump}

Formerly known as Ulm Pishkun State Park, this is one of the largest prehistoric bison kill sites in the United States. For over six hundred years, Indians stampeded buffalo over the mile-long cliff. Now, the top of the jump provides expansive panoramic views of the Rocky Mountain Front, the Missouri River valley, and the buttes and grasslands that characterize this High Plains setting.
