The best way to keep your footsies warm on those cold days? Two layers of socks and some fur-lined boots. Probably not those most chic way to adorn your feet during the winter but certainly the warmest. And you're gonna need those toes during the summer while you're wearing sandals, open toe shoes and going barefoot on the beach. Warm and cozy vs chic and hypothermia. It's your choice really.

It's amazing how an outfit can go from totally blah to understated chic with a few basic staples. A good wide brim hat (like this and this) and bright jeans (these, these and these are great) make what would have been an ordinary outfit into cool downtown chic. Add a simple leather shopper like this one from Zara (this one for those with a heavier wallet) and a pair of your fave shoes and your good to go. Simple, dimple, pimple. Ready to go in a flash. I just saved you 20 minutes off of the morning face-off between you and your closet.

DIY Time: Knee Patch Jeans

So we all know that elbow patches are a thing right now but why should we leave our other joints out of the fun. Our knees want some loving too. They too want to be covered with patchy goodness. If you agree you should scroll on down and see how we can fix this problem.

All you need is a pair of your old jeans,

a pair of even older jeans from which you will cut patches out of, a needle and some thread. If you don't have those lying around well I guess your out of luck.

Then you need to try on your jeans and put a mark where your knees are, and cut patches from your old pair of jeans so that they are wide enough to go from seam to seam with a bit of overhang.

Sew your patches on making sure to fold over the edges that touch the seam of your pants.

Then you're done!

Spring in My Step

Today had me browsing through spring runways in an effort to take my mind off the conditions outdoors. I made a resolution that I would refrain from complaining about things that I cannot change. But I don`t think fantasizing about warmer days ahead can be considered complaining. Now, if we take a cue from A.L.C. s/s 12 we won't need to put our fall/winter wardrobe to waste. We can recycle all our leather wears and spice them up for spring with pastels and a pop of colour. I particularly love the second ensemble below with the pastel blue blazer below. It's oh so chic!

Alice + Olivia brings us a fun and colourful spring. With shift dresses, maxis and pastel colours mixed to your hearts content.

Dries Van Noten is much more toned down with mainly grey and black and a few colours popping up here and there. And, brings back the once popular trend of skirts over pants. I'm sure there are some of you who are just itching to wear this trend all over again, albeit in a more chic manner, and those who are wishing that the skirt over pants look would never rear its ugly head again. I for one am a fan.

Also, that sleeveless coat in the fourth look needs to be mine.

Love these heels but I don't think they've shown up on the blog yet. Also, I got these corduroy pants the other day at Joe Fresh for 10 bucks. Gotta love boxing day/week sales. This is probably the first time I've worn cords since about elementary school.
