Wow, it is so great to be back from the holidays. I enjoyed some much needed R&R packed full of fatty food, seriously competitive board games, and tons of family time. I was blessed beyond count in 2008 and can't wait to see what the Lord has for me and Lace Image in 2009...

Okay so this session was the first of a couple I snuck in over *Christmas Break*. I am holding the rest of these images hostage until I get THE NEW AND IMPROVED LACE IMAGE WEBSITE!!! I am only slightly excited as you can tell.

Here a just a few of my favorites.

*** On a side note, how is it that it is so hard to train your body to not think you should get a month of vacation for Christmas? Does anyone else struggle with this? I know the first year I had a big girl job I seriously got the I miss college break blues. I'm doing a little better now, (it has been 3 years lol) but I still often day dream of naps before softball practice. lol Ah, the good ole days!

Hey faithful blog community! I have missed you! It has been way to long since my last blog and I have so much to catch you up on. I have been thrown into a whirl wind of red, green, santa hats, and Christmas bulbs; and couldn't be loving it more! I told myself the blog must be put on the back burner until I finally get caught up. Well believe it or not I think I am almost there. I finished up a session tonight and have final edits tomorrow. I plan to update the blog throughout the next couple of weeks until I am caught up.

Thank you to everyone who has been so patient these last month. As many of you know I have been spending my weeks here and my weekends in Sioux City watching Ian finish up his last football season. Sadly the season for the Morningside Mustangs has ended. The men finished up a great year and were a lot of fun to watch. I think I will miss it more than I know.

As for Lace Image I have a ton of great things coming up. Keep checking the blog I hope to have a new website up by the begging of the year. I pulled in a fabulous web designer and am absolutely ecstatic to see what he puts together for me. I have a new location in process and even a few specials to kick off the new year.

Nothing says Merry Christmas like a cutie. : ) Isn't he just a adorable!

Okay, I need a little help on this one. I am in love with this image. She is just a knock out that screams I'm a sweetie. I am thinking of having this as one of my first specials in the new location. I would love to do a girlie-girls season.

Trash the Prom Dress, Unionville, Missouri

Trashing the prom dress is a new trend in senior photography and one I absolutely love. You don't exactly have to trash the dress, just like you don't have to trash your wedding dress in a day after session, but you do get some amazing images from places you don't normally see gowns.

I love to try new things and I love to try any sort of fashion or trendy shoot. Mix that with two people who have been best friends since they were little and I have a great session on my hands. Thank you two so much for trying all of my crazy poses and climbing through the junky studio. :) I hope you both like your images, I think everything turned out wonderful!

Centerville Fireman

Have you ever stopped to help someone in trouble? Have you ever given to someone in need, even when it wasn't expected of you? Better yet, have you ever risked your life for someone else with nothing to gain? I'm sad to say I haven't done these things enough, but some days God lets you realize you need to "Count Your Many Blessings".

I know I am not posting near enough of these images, but mostly because I recognized a fellow high school classmate I couldn't wait to capture him in action.

Derek Carter is a former Putnam County Midget and graduated with me in 2001. He has been all over the US since then, but I'm sure happy to see him back. Ironically, later on that day, I had a senior session with his younger brother. What do you think Dylan? He's pretty cool isn't he!

Please help me give a big welcome to Jamie, Julie, Justin, and Jaydon. It doesn't take long for new residents to fit right in, but I think that is especially true for this group. They are most certainly, Unionville material! Once again I get a pair of onery boys which I love. Jaydon is such a fireball, he kept me busy the whole time. Seriously ran circles around me; no exaggeration. While Justin is Mr. calm cool and collected.

What a fun session, I got to take a whole entire family reunion. It was the 50th year farm reunion accompanied with a real life book signing. Okay somedays, especially today, it is extremely difficult to manage having a full time job and still pursuing this little Lace Image dream of mine. Recently the phrase, "overwhelmed" is an understatement for my feelings about my workload. I'm not writing this to make a sob story and receive any sympathy, but seriously don't we all at different points in time look at our workload and think there need to be 10 more hours in the day to complete "our list".

Midway Baptist Church, Unionville MO

Meet Mr. and Mrs. Rob Fleshman of Unionville, Missouri. Some of you might remember the name and yes he is formerly of Unionville, but moved away after high school only to return a couple of years ago. Mr Fleshman, or Pastor Rob as he is referred to around the Midway area, has served as the full-time pastor for Midway Baptist Church for the last two years. As many of you know I am a member there at Midway and I am so proud to call Pastor Rob part of my Church family. Him and his wife, Mrs. Michelle Fleshman, both have such a servants heart for the Lord. I never could have imagined the challenges and demands a Pastor and his family could face, but they have accepted everything that has been thrown at them with such a loving spirit.

I couldn't begin to list all of the great things they have contributed to our Church and my personal spiritual growth. For anyone who doesn't know this family please take time, even though they have been here for a while now, and help me continue to let them know we're glad they came back. I think it is so amazing that people are willing to give up the fast paced life of the city for the slower, sometimes backward, country living. I know I can speak for my entire Church when I say we feel very blessed to have such a dedicated and hard working Pastor. Not to mention leaving his job and home to come back and work along side our small Church.

As for Michelle, she has taught me so much since being here. And has truly been a great example of a good Godly wife. She reaches out to me in so many ways and I appreciate her unwavering love. Did I mention she runs a household of four kids... ikes! : ) I have yet to see her lose her temper, no matter who's fueding, crying, or doing something they aren't supposed to. It seriously takes a strong woman to do that. Michelle has lead a couple groups through some woman's Bible studies which aren't always easy for my sinful flesh to accept. Yet, she does it in such a kind way and really illustrates the benefits of being in God's will.

I believe I might be a couple days late on the Pastor appreciation week, but better late than never.

One sunny, very sunny, afternoon I headed to my neighboring community Lucerne for a family portrait session. It is so interesting now being "all grown up" and working with families that I used to hang around in my elementary days. : ) Taren and I have been friends since we were little. I mean really little, like birthday parties with hats little. It was so great to catch up with the Blanchards and be invited to take their family portrait. I just loved it. I thought Jim might fall over with a few of my requests, but everything turned out wonderful! Proofs will be ready in a day or so. Thanks Blanchards! I had a blast! Also while taking family pictures I couldn't help but comment on how great Jill looks. While searching around on the internet I noticed this.... Weight Watchers Dang, I knew she had something I didn't. I have been thinking about doing this myself. That whole white dress thing isn't very forgiving.

Honey Creek Resort, Rathbun Iowa Photographer

Here are a few shots from a recent session at Honey Creek Resort in Rathbun, Iowa. The new resort is located just north of Centerville, Iowa on Lake Rathbun. The venue is amazing! I love the location, inside and out it is going to be one beautiful wedding site.

This is just right outside the restaurant. I love the look of a beautiful delicate bride surrounded in rustic nature.

This is the first thing you see when you walk in the resort. I plan on taking many wedding couples here. The entrance holds some amazing colors, textures, and light that hit just perfectly. I took a few bridal portraits from this location that are wonderful. The designers chose some fabulous metallic tile that will make any bride glow.
