All I can say is, wow.
The Dsquared show, at Milan's fashion week, looked like it was taken straight out of 1940. Jazz club wear was the inspiration for the Fall 2013 collection and the models sauntered down the runway wearing 1940's style top hats and cigar coats paired with gorgeous hand beaded gowns. I just kept waiting for Emma Stone to walk out with Ryan Gosling on her arm.

Wowza I'm really loving Alexis Mabille's Spring 2013 couture collection. The collection's fun, bubbly and flirty silhouettes really show through as the looks go down the pink runway. Usually known for his unique and zany looks, Alexis reigned it in with this collection and made a show-stopping appearance. His penchant for zany details didn't completely go to side though. Alexis was sure to include some pieces in his spring collection that would raise a few eyebrows. And we love him for it.

While browsing through photos of recent runway shows I came across this magical new designer named Shane Gabier. His 'Creatures of the Wind' label are whimsical and a little odd at the same time. The Chicago based label has been featured in Vogue. The inspiration for the label infuses two different worlds into one. It is derived from an ancient fabled world of a Celtic fairyland and Shane tries to combine the differences between the worlds by adding different textiles and textures. The story is adapted from an old seventeenth century manuscript which tells the tale of the Celtic fairyland. What comes from this tale is a magical collection of awe inspiring garments with a touch of whimsical beauty to them.

Spring flowers bring us showers...of great new garments! The inspiration here is from flowers and all of the components of what makes a flower so beautiful. Textures from the plant, pollen, and colors are what spring's new collections are all about. Gorgeous fabrics are created to make these pieces that mimic a flowers natural and delicate beauty.


"Pollen"

Allergic to it or not pollen is a very pretty part of a flower that holds lots of color and has a whimsical appearance. These are some amazing fabrics created with pollen in mind. No sneezing.

"Electric"

Electric colors are what draws your eye to a colorful flower. These fabrics are full of electricity and pizazz. They will make you want to dance.

"Prints"

Denim Trends are All the Rage

New denim trends are being discovered by so many designers and they are taking their designs to new levels. Embellishments, leather accents, embroidery, loud prints and bright washes are all being used in the season's new collections. Metallics are being brought back in a new way and are looking more intense than ever. Ive got all of the new trends that are showing up in stores now and in the near future just for you. Check them out and be ahead of the denim trends.

Animal and loud prints are popping up everywhere from True Religion and Pepe Jeans all the way to The Gap and even Target. These are definitely standout pieces that would look great paired with a simple tank or tee and blazer.


The 'Artists Direction'

Pops of color, bright hues, and acid and tie dye washes are all the rage right now. Get them while theyre HOT!!

I am obsessed with reversible jeans...they're like getting two pairs for one. Great for split personalities.

'Liquid Metal

Liquid metal and leather looks are very hot right now. Metallics are everywhere and leather washes are showing up all over. They are great pieces to have to give your look a sexy edge for day or night. Get shining girl!

"Country Fair"

Everyone likes to get down and dirty, and for those who don't you can always fake it. Patches, 'dirty' washes, and wilderness looks are trending right now so you can get as dirty as you want.

New York Fashion Week Part 3...

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is now over and we have seen some amazing new garments shown on the runway. Designers have been showcasing their Fall and Spring collections and there have been some great new trends that have been followed. I love the Fall 2012 collections, shown below, from Badgley Mischka, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Jeremy Scott. Jeremy Scott has a sort of Steam Punk inspiration with his collection and I love all of the pops of color for the Fall. Marc Jacobs never disappoints with his casual but chic collection that every woman is going to HAVE to have for the fall. Badgley Mischka's collection for fall has a chic Gothic look to it and I really like the silhouettes and lines throughout the collection. Enjoy!

New York Fashion Week has had some amazing new and established designers debuting their collections on the runway at Mercedes Fashion Week. The show is still in full swing and I am loving all of the new trends for spring. Balmain continues to show through with their edgy and show stopping pieces and the Rodarte collection has a very ethereal feeling. New York's Mercedes Benz fashion week has started and there has been some great new trends that are appearing on the runway so far. I am loving the color story in Alice & Olivia's Spring 2012 RTW collection and am inspired by the prints in Diane von Furstenburg's Spring 2012 RTW collection. Some other great Spring 2012 RTW collections that I admired are Organic by John Patrick, Betsey Johnson, Cynthia Rowley, BCBG Max Azria, and Proenza Schouler.
