Wingin' It Lacquers

I'm backkkkkkkk for good now. I came home on Wednesday, and I think I'm resettled in haha. So I can play catchup on bloggy goodness! Today I'm reviewing the 2nd half of the Wingin' It Lacquers polishes. If you missed Part I, you can catch up here. :]

I think did a good job capturing these polishes with these macro shots:

I'd like to make a note before you read my review: Crystal mentioned her note to me that she likes her polishes fairly thick, and that most people would prefer to add thinner over buying a thinner polish. She mentioned she would also be adding this disclaimer in her shop so consumers are aware before purchasing the polishes.

I personally am not a fan of thicker polishes, especially if I'm layering over a color (it tends to drag the color along with it making it look wrinkled). However, I did not add thinner to these polishes when I swatched them.

Wingin' It Lacquers Mermaid Scales and Peacock Tales

This one was the one I was most excited for, I FREAKIN LOVE iridescent glitter. It makes me all giddy and excited! Mermaid Scales and Peacock Tales is a black jelly with different sizes of iridescent hex and squares that flash green/blue/purple/yellow-gold-ish.

I did 2 coats of Mermaid Scales and Peacock Tales, no undies. I found this to be the thickest polish I was sent to review. While the others were manageable, I found this one to be quite tricky to apply. Without adding thinner, short brush strokes were key. Due to its thickness it did take a little bit to dry since it is a jelly polish, something to keep in mind while layering.

Wingin' It Lacquers Rock-n-Roll Cowgirl

I'm not a huge pink person, but I do find myself enjoying pinks and browns together. That's exactly what Rock-n-Roll Cowgirl is! It is a mixture of different sizes of pink, brown and gold hexes.

I did 2 coats of Rock-n-Roll Cowgirl over Zoya Sweet. I didn't have any application issues and I found it dried in pretty good time. No complaints from me :]

Wingin' It Lacquers - Who's the Boss

This polish is a lot of fun, she really nailed this black jelly polish! Who's the Boss is a black jelly with silver glitter in stars, micro, hexes and small bar. There's a little holo silver thrown in there which gives it a nice pop! I always find with black jelly polishes I order/review I have a problem of colors getting drowned out by the black base. This one does a good job of being a great black jelly while letting all the silver pop against the base color!

I did 2 coats of Who's the Boss with no undies. This one was also manageable to apply with no issues and I didn't have to fish for stars. I allowed, and would recommend, drying time to be allowed between coats for a faster dry time and to avoid slippage since it is a jelly polish.

Wingin' It Lacquers Liquid Silver

Liquid silver is chocked full of different sizes of hex, square and bar silver and holographic silver glitter in a clear base. This polish shines bright and the holo silver glitter really makes this awesome!

I did 2 coats of Liquid Silver over a black creme polish. I honestly think I would of preferred 1 coat over a color versus 2. There was a lot more glitter in 1 coat than I perceived haha. I think 2+ does pretty well on its own, with no undies, if you're looking for total bling! This polish was probably the thinnest formula, a consistency I'm familiar with. It applied well, and dried in good time. No problems with this bling polish!

Wingin' It Lacquers - Spring Fling

This wasn't my favorite, I'm not a fan of pink or shaped glitter :P But, that's just me haha. Aside from the flower shaped glitter, I did enjoy the glitter mix! In this light pink jelly polish you can find jelly, aqua blue, light blue, pink, purple, and yellow hexes of different sizes. In addition, there are some pink flower glitters in the mix.

I did 2 coats of Spring Fling, which actually surprised me! I thought it was going to be more sheer. Application was great, no issues, I didn't have to fish for the flowers, and with time in between coats, it dried in good time :]

POLISH ADDICT: Lace and Lacquers & Imagine Dragons

Hello, hello! Hope everyone's week is going alright. Today I have some polishes by Polish Addict to show you. One is super special to me, because it's named after me :D The 2nd polish that someone has named after me, I feel so special! (This was the first) After the jump I have swatch and review of these 2 polishes for you!

If those bottle shots don't get the party going, well then I don't know what to tell you! Bahaha

Polish Addict Lace and Lacquers over Sinful Colors Candy Coated

I think that fits the idea of (actual) lace and lacquers pretty well! Lace and Lacquers is a mix of white, pink, blue, yellow and purple pastel matte glitter in a lavender jelly base. This polish is super light and airy looking to me, actually reminds me of lace! Haha (I won a bottle of Lynnderella Ghost of Chance a few months ago, this kinda reminds me of it! I haven't swatched the Lynn yet though :X story of my life haha)

It was a bit on the sheer side after 3 coats, and I don't have much patience for building up lavender jelly polishes haha. I found Sinful Colors Candy Coated was the perfect match for the base color of Lace and Lacquers. I did 2 coats over Candy Coated. The application was smooth, glitters came out great and when layered over another color the dry time was more reasonable!

Polish Addict Imagine Dragons

Husband and I have been into Imagine Dragons (the band) recently, and when I got this polish and saw the name it made me smile haha! Polish Addict Imagine Dragons is a pretty neat polish. In this shimmery aqua jelly base, you will find green, blue, gold hex and circle glitter. You can find regular glitter and holographic glitter in this mix also. The large circles are my favorite part and I was so happy they were willing to come out of the bottle easily!

This polish was a little on the thin side but to my surprise it built up quite easily. I did 3 coats of Imagine Dragons. I did allow some extra time in between coats to avoid glitter slippage. The application was smooth and I didn't have any issues with this pretty polish! :]

YOU POLISH: Monster High Collection [Lagoona B., Glawdeen W., Ghoulia Y., Frankie S., and Twyla B.]

Monster High Collection by You Polish

Greetings from Houston, Tejas! Now I have my notes (thanks to my semi-awesome husband, he's only semi awesome because I'm awesome hahah), I can put together a blog post or two! Today I have a look at You Polish's Monster High Collection. Now, I don't know a darn freakin' thing about Monster High or the (adult) obsession with it haha [I'll probably get crap for saying that lmao], but I do know a little thing or two about indie nail polish ;] After the jump I have swatches of 5 out of the 6 Monster High Collection by You Polish.

First up is Lagoona B.

Lagoona Blue - Source

You Polish Lagoona B

Lagoona B is a pale yellow crelly with a mix of circles, hex and square glitter in yellow, turquoise and pink. While I have no idea who Lagoona is, haha, I do enjoy this polish for how unique it looks and how much the colors pop in the base. I wish I grabbed a bit more of that pink glitter, I think it's a fun contrast!

I did 2 coats of Lagoona B. It was a lot more opaque than I thought it would be, always a nice surprise! It was a smooth application and it dried pretty quickly. I wish I would of had more of the pink on the nail. (What? Lacey wants more pink!? haha) If you're looking for more pink glitter - Lagoona B. also comes with a bag of pink flower shaped glitter you can place on your nail :]

Clawdeen Wolf - Source

You Polish Clawdeen W.

This one was super interesting to me. I can't recall how many times I've seen a brown jelly polish. The base of Clawdeen W. reminds me of the brown shade of Hare Polish Bury the Hatchetfish, if that helps some haha. In this brown jelly, you will find hexes, squares, and circles in darker purple, lighter purple, gold, medium brown, and dark brown. I love how unique this color combo is!

I sis 2 coats of Clawdeen W. If you have longer nails, you might want 3+ coats or undies for this polish due to visible nail line. I again had no issues with this polish. It was a great application and a decent dry time for a jelly polish.

Ghoulia Yelps - Source

You Polish Ghoulia Y.

This was my 2nd favorite from the collection. Mostly because of the color combo. It's such a unique blend of colors I never would of imagined would of looked so awesome together! Y'know? Ghoulia is a deeper aqua color with red, green, and blue squares and hexes. I especially love how the green glitters pop! And I'm bi-partial to red and aqua since those were my wedding colors lmao.

This was again, 2 coats. No issues with this. Everything came out of the bottle well, covered well application was awesome, and so was the dry time. :]

Frankie Stein - Source

You Polish Frankie S.

This was my 3rd favorite, I'm a sucker for any green minty color. Not to mention things with crazy awesome contrast. Frankie S. is a minty green crelly base with blue, black, grey, and pink hexes and square glitter in various sizes. I'm loving the bright blue and pink in this polish!

This was 2 coats of Frankie S. The application was just as good as all the others, along with the dry time. This one seemed easier to get the larger pieces of glitter on the nail in comparison to the other polishes. No issues with this one.

Twyla Boogie - Source

You Polish Twyla B.

I don't know what Twyla's problem is, but for some reason decent pictures of her are hard to find on Google lmao. ANYWAYS, this was my favorite out of the 5. You can see why, I'm guessing! There's so much awesome crammed into this polish. Twyla B. is a lavender purple crelly with blueish-purple shimmer, light purple, darker purple, blue and aqua shreds and hex. Told ya there was a lot going on! ;] the shimmer is 10x more amazing in person, trust me.

I did 3 coats of Twyla B. It was a little on the sheer side, but because of the color it's understandable. No issues with this one either. Application was smooth, everyone came out to party, and the dry time was also good. If you buy any of them, buy this one. Well, buy whatever you want lmao but this one is the best in my opinion :D

There is also a 6th polish in You Polish's Monster High Collection. Venus is a glitter top coat, if you're interested in seeing it swatched - You Polish has it on her Facebook Page, here. I will have the swatch at a later date due to supplies.

I don't know when I'll be back again! No seriously, I fly standby so I have no idea lmao! I'm leaving to Houston for a week to visit my dad who recently had surgery. Good news is, he's cancer free. YAY DAD! I have a few posts planned this week, but I won't be all interactive as usual. ;) Normal bliggity blog biznits will resume next Wednesday/Thursday.

Can't leave without a mani! That's pure blasphemy. Here's my trip manicure. I actually thought about this for a solid week hahahahaha. I picked up some nail stickers for the rest of the trip because I'm lazy like that haha

I used Picture Polish Paradise, which is amazing. I was so happy this was good to go in 2 coats! This is my first Picture Polish and I'm in lalalalove! Haha

WINGIN' IT LACQUER: Dark Matter, Butterfly Fields, Dark Energy & Spring Fever

Hi guys! Today I'm reviewing a new-to-me brand called Wingin' It Lacquer. This is part 1 of a 2 part series, check out part 2 here! After the jump, your usual swatches and review from me :]
These are the 4 colors I'll be reviewing today:

Wingin' It Lacquer Dark Matter over Sinful Colors Grecian Sun

Dark Matter is "a mix of sizes and shapes of purple, black and teal glitter in a greyish jelly base. There are some [black] stars and holo purple [glitter]". While I don't find this to be the most unique, I do like how this polish has the ability to change nearly any color you layer it on top of. I really enjoy the purple holo glitter, it gives it that little somethin' extra it needed.

I used 2 coats of Dark Matter over Sinful Colors Grecian Sun. While the formula was a tad thick, I didn't seem to have issues with it. With a thicker polish consistency, it is important to keep in mind how long you wait in between layers to avoid "slipping" of the other layers. I waited maybe a minute or 2 before I added the 2nd layer and everything was good to go. I'd also like to note I was unable to get any stars out of the bottle.

Wingin' It Lacquer Butterfly Fields

I find this to be pretty similar to other yellow creme base polishes, very Easter and spring looking! Butterfly Fields is a "creamy pale yellow with holographic lime hexes, purple dots and squares, teal dots, and pink hexes and dots. There are also holo pink butterflies". I think the holographic glitter really sets this one apart from the other pale yellow polishes I've seen before.

I did 3 coats of Butterfly Fields, no undies. I would mind the dry time with this one as well. I find thicker creme finishes need more dry time allowed. Otherwise, no issues with this one! I think most of my butterflies were stuck at the bottom of the bottle haha I was okay with it because I'm not a fan of butterfly glitter :P Resting the bottle upside-down should help that issue (if you enjoy the butterfly glitter)!

Wingin' It Lacquers Dark Energy over Revlon Plummy

Bars AND squares? People know the way to my heart bahaha. Dark Energy is a mix of sizes and shapes of teal, black and pink glitters". Mores specifically different sizes of hex, square and bar glitter.

I did 2 coats over Revlon Plummy. I didn't have any issues with this one :] I, again, minded dry time between coats due to the formula's thickness.

This polish looks quite similar to Dark Matter:

Wingin' It Lacquer Spring Fever

Spring Fever is a "shimmery aqua base with pink, teal, yellow and purple matte glitters of different sizes. There are several different colors of flower glitter". I feel when people make polishes, a shimmery aqua/mint color is the one they always try haha. Most of them I don't like, but I did enjoy the shimmery base of this polish! I also enjoyed the layering effect this polish has.

I did 2 coats of Sprin Fever, No undies. I was expecting this to be more sheer, so 2 coats was a nice surprise! I didn't have any issues with this polish and the flower glitter came out quite well, as you can see. :P

Good day! Today I have 3 polishes from Lacquer Lust to swatch and review for you today! These are some pretty awesome polishes, worth taking a peek! PSSSST, HOLOOOOOO

First up, my favorite one ;]

This was my favorite of the three Jo sent me to review. Look at that close up, f*cking stunning. Lacquer Lust Taurus is a black jelly polish with holo dust, and flakie like glitter that flashes orange and green/blue. This one really came to life in the sun, as you can see! I'm not a fan of black polishes, but the complexity of this polish has me all excited haha

I did 3 coats for full opacity. No issues. Dry time was great, I let the layers dry completely before each layer though because it is a jelly. Nice smooth application, too!

Eternal Bliss seems to be what everyone is lusting (yes that was intended haha) after! A white(-ish) holo, oh me oh my. Another polish that pops great in the sun. Although, the linear effect of the holo isn't strong.

I did 2 coats of Eternal Bliss, which surprised me because I was expecting 3! Application was smooth and painless. Dry time was also good :]

Above is a quick comparison to show you where Eternal Bliss lies in the white-grey scale of polish. I'd say its not stark white like Sinful Colors Snow Me White (a regular white creme), not as dark as Zoya Dove, and pretty close to the white-grey color of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls

The Glitter Gal polish is a little more grey in color and the linear effect is much stronger. Lacquer Lust's Eternal Bliss, however, is more opaque than LAAF and takes less coats (2 VS 3+) I wouldn't raise the dupe flag for these two. They're pretty similar in color but there's a bigger difference in the holo effect. I like them both equally, for different reasons!

Please excuse the difference in light, I ran out of time the first day of swatching! Purple Reign is a purple, jelly, thermal polish with purple micro flakies! I love how squishy this looks on the nail :) As you can see the thermal effect, the darker purple is when your nails are cold and the lighter purple is when your nails are warm. I really like how this polish is more hot/cold sensitive compared to the other 2 thermal indies I own (Polish TBH and Twenty Seven Polish)!

This was 3 coats. No issues in application or dry time, I did wait in between coats due to the jelly finish. :)

Today is a post about a lemming o' mine I finally killed last month! I mean look at that bottle, how could it NOT be a lemming haha. This is also my first Girly Bits polish (FINALLY). After the jump, I have swatches and a short review for you :]

Girly Bits Cosmetics Cu Blue

Sorry for the shiny fingers, a girls gotta moisturize! I'm so in love with this polish, it's just so perfect in my book! Cu Blue is a deep, dark, indigo blue jelly with a crapton of awesome copper (hence Cu in Cu Blue) shimmer. I'm a big fan of polishes with awesome shimmer and this one hit the spot. Not to mention jelly polishes are a fun time, too ;]

I did 3 coats of Cu Blue. It was a little thinner than I thought it would be, but I came to terms a thinner jelly with a quick dry time is 100000x better than a thicker jelly and a slow dry time haha. So yes, this dried pretty darn quick which made me a happy camper. It's a great smooth application, no issues with this baby!

ZOYA: Summer 2013 Irresistible Collection

The Zoya Summer 2013 Irresistible Collection

AHH FINALLY! I can review the Zoya Irresistible Collection for you! Crazy mix up with my old apartment lying, FedEx and Zoya. Lets just say they're lucky I don't review apartment complexes... ;] ANYHOW, I can FINALLY show you these gorgeous, foily, metallic babies I was sent to review!

Every time Zoya comes out with a collection, I am more and more impressed. I've loved everything they've come out with since I began reviewing in Summer of last year. These are totally gorgeous. If you liked the Surf Collection from last summer, you'll love these!

Let's get started! Just a heads up, none of these swatches are with top coat.

Zoya Kerry

I freakin' love this color! It reminds me of those foil chocolate Easter egg candies. While Kerry is a gold foil, it leans a lot more toward the yellow side of golds, which is exactly how Zoya describes it: "Kerry can be best described as a yellow gold foil metallic". I did 2 coats, and everything was good to go! No issues and a great dry time. I see accented nail art galore for this baby's future!

Zoya Amy

This one jumped to the top of my favorites for this collection VERY fast. This color is absolutely gorgeous! Described as a "red orange foil metallic", Amy is a bright, fiery, glowing polish. This was again, 2 coats no issues with application or dry time!

Zoya Tinsley

Zoya Tinsley is a "rose gold foil metallic". In comparison to other rose gold polishes I own, this one is a lot more rose-y, which I like! I find this to be a toned down, less bright, pink version of Amy. :] Amy is still my favorite bahah! This was also 2 coats, no issues with application and a good dry time.

Zoya Rikki

I was looking for an object to compare Rikki to, and then Zoya's description nailed it: "fern green foil metallic". This is such a gorgeous green foil! I don't know why but I have the strangest urge to mattify Rikki haha This was 2 coats, no issues with application and a good dry time.

Zoya Hazel

This polish is very similar to Zoya Crystal. I couldn't quite nail it on the head but then I realized, upon further investigation (staring at my nail for a bit) there are both blue and green tones in this polish! Made me feel smart when Zoya's description confirmed what I was seeing, "Zoya Nail Polish in Hazel can be best described as a blue green foil metallic". I did 2 coats of Hazel, and again this had a good dry time and application.

Zoya Bobbi

Zoya Bobbie is a "hot magenta pink foil metallic". Hot pinks are pretty much the only pinks I kinda like haha, I'm not a pink person - sue me. And this is a nice change up from the neon hot pink or creme hot pink that I usually will wear from time to time. I actually enjoyed this one more than planned - shhhhhh! Haha This was 2 coats, no issues and good dry time!

I decided to paint them all on my nails at once, because it's pretty much a given that I needed to :P

If you love foil metallics, this collection is right up your ally! I loved all these, and Zoya made it hard for me to choose just 3 as my favorite. SO if you asked me what my top 3 from The Irresistible Collection are: Amy, Hazel and Kerry. To me I found these to be the most unique shades. The applications were great, and they dried decently quick. The only complaint I have is the clean up, these are a pain in the buns to clean up, just like any foily polish like these. But that's a minor detail given if you wash your hands you'll be fine ;]

Today I have something not polish related, but totally manicure and hand related. It's a nice treat to polish your nails, add some fancy nail art! Why not have some nice hands that will make you proud to show off your nails? After the jump, I'm breaking down and reviewing the Hand Perfection Anti-Aging Hand Care System. There's a little somethin' extra for you at the end too (if you didn't get that from the title haha)

The Hand Perfection system is a 3 part system (depending what you buy, but these 3 items are recommended to be used together). That consists of:

You know what this system brought to light for me? We read everywhere (ok, well at least I read everywhere) about the benefit of applying a SPF facial moisturizer, tinted moisturizer, ect. But it never occurred to me that while we're focusing on preventing aging in our face, we should also focus on the appearance of our hands!

Oh! If you're noticing Ellen Sirot's name on the packaging, and you have no idea who she is... don't worry haha I didn't either! I Googled her name and discovered she is one of the biggest hand models out there. She's considered the most successful hand model in the world. So HEY! Why wouldn't you want to try a product she endorses? Especially if she's been the top hand model for TWENTY years! I'd kill to have gorgeous hands like her, but apparently we all can't be hand model perfect ;] haha

The system is meant to last you 2 weeks, of course you can purchase addition items if you do not get the results you desire. I used the system for 2 weeks as recommended. I applied the Nourishing Hand Cream each time my hands were exposed to water, and when my hands felt dry during the day. I also applied the Cuticle Pen 3-5 times a day. At night, I religiously applied the Rejuvenating Night Cream to the back of my hands.

While I'm a pretty young person (or at least people tell me I am bahahaha), 24 years old, my hands unfortunately look a little aged. I know a lot of my readers struggle with eczema and its flareups. While my eczema is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than it was when I was in elementary/middle school, I still suffer from extremely, super duper, disgustingly dry hands. I've had every rude comment in the book lol from people asking me if I was a burn victim to a friend of mine straight up calling me "granny hands". Yeah, people suck haha but that's besides the point. I'm trying to give you an idea of why this product really appealed to me. While I'm young in age, eczema has aged my skin and it shows a lot more in my hands than my fellow 24 year old friends.

Here are my results, of course not everyone's results will be the same. If you like, you can enlarge the pictures to see more detail:

As you can see there isn't some sort of miracle going on here haha. I wasn't expecting significant changes in the appearance of my skin. However, I did notice the look of my most hated finger, my right pointer finger, did appear slightly softer and less evil/wrinkly haha. While the change was pretty small, it's still a change that is noteworthy. Other than that small change, I didn't notice anything different. BTW ew, how stubby and dinosaur like do my fingers look? Lmao besides the point but I had to say it hahahahhahahahha. At least I can laugh at myself :P I am wondering if I gave this system a 2nd try, what the results would be.

I applied the hand cream as often as I usually apply hand cream, after washing my hands and then 2-3x when they feel dry during the day. I kind of wish the hand cream was a little thicker, but it wasn't super thin either. This did make me think about looking into moisturizers for my hands with sunscreen added versus the normal Jergens or Aquaphor I usually use.

The night cream was a little thicker than the hand cream, which makes sense. I applied it every night while I was in bed. It says to apply to the tops of your hands, but I'm an overachiever and also applied it on the tops and undersides of my fingers haha.

While I did enjoy the hand cream and night cream, I wasn't so much a fan of the cuticle pen. I enjoyed the applicator, but I'm just not a fan of cuticle oils AS MUCH as I try to be....haha I'm strictly a cuticle balm fan... I think it's mostly because my skin/cuticles is so dry. BUT I did give it a shot, it did keep my cuticles moisturized. I just find the cuticle balm is more effective for a longer lasting effect for me. I know a lot of other people like cuticle oils though :]

ZOYA: Summer 2013 PixieDust Collection

Zoya Summer 2013 Pixie Dust Collection

Today I have for you the new Zoya PixieDust Summer Collection! I don't know about you guys but when the first PixieDusts ended up being 10x nicer than I thought they would be, I was hungry for more of these polishes. Thankfully, Zoya released another collection of these babies! After the jump, swatch, review, and some nail art!

There are 6 colors in this collection, I kinda wish there was a green or turquoise though! Beggars can't be choosers ;]

On to my swatches!

Zoya PixieDust Miranda

Miranda is described by Zoya as a "rose sparkle". I ended up liking this color a lot more than I thought I did. Miranda is a very pretty, sparkly, pink. I did 2 coats, and the formula was great. I felt like all the new PixieDusts applied just as well as the first set of PixieDusts.

Zoya PixieDust Destiny

Zoya Destiny is a "coral metal sparkle". Whatever that means haha I'm guessing the metal part of their description fits in with the slight gold flashes this polish has at certain angles. I tried to capture the gold flashes, I feel you can see it best in the last macro shot. This polish is a bright, fun coral color. I really liked this one, It's one of my favorites in this collection. This was 2 coats, no issues and a great formula.

Zoya PixieDust Beatrix

Beatrix is a "tangerine metal sparkle". Again with the metal description! haha This is a true orange (think orange soda!) color with some flashes of gold. I did 2 coats, no issues and a great formula. I'd say Beatrix and Destiny are the two brightest polish in this collection of 6.

Zoya PixieDust Solange

Solange is a "gold metal foil sparkle". This polish is a stunning gold color and I think the texture makes it 10x better. VERY blingy. Like the others - no issues with this polish, great application and 2 coats.

Zoya PixieDust Liberty

Liberty is a "blue sugary sparkle". This one is my favorite. It's a deep blue color that is still bright and sparkly thanks to the texture finish. It kind of reminds me of China Glaze Dorothy Who. Forgive me on the macro picture, the color is a bit off. I did 2 coats of Liberty, no issues and a great formula again.

Zoya PixieDust Stevie

Zoya Stevie is a "violet sparkle". Stevie reminds me of Zoya Perrie, only sparkly and awesome-r haha. It's a very pretty medium purple color. Another favorite of mine from this collection. I did 2 coats of Stevie, no complaints or issues, everything was perfect.

I've been wanting to do a little nail art with the PixieDust polishes since I received them. I came up with this idea because I thought of those sand art bottles I used to love doing when I was younger haha:

Kinda reminds you of some useless sand art bottles you don't know what to do with when you move out of your parents', huh? LOL All I did was use a striping brush to apply the polish ;]

Floral Nail Art Tutorial

It's springtime (ignoring the fact the weather doesn't want to realize that haha) and floral prints are all over the place. It's not spring in Polishland without some floral nail art! So, today I have a short tutorial of how to make some flowers using a dotting tool and a striping brush.

What I love about this is you can use any colors to make as many flowers, of any sizes! ANDDD it's super easy to do :] Below I outline the steps in the picture:

Floral nail art tutorial

Supplies: Striping brush, dotting tool, top coat, a green (SquareHue Flower Power, a white (Sinful Colors Snow Me White), a lighter color (Zoya Rory), and a darker color (Zoya Carly)

Step 1: Using your dotting tool, create circle shapes with the darker colored polish (Zoya Carly). You can choose how large or small and how many you'd like. I did 3 :]

Step 2: Using the lighter color (Zoya Rory), create 2 C-shapes with the striping brush starting from the middle, going outward. They don't have to be perfect!

Step 3: Using the white polish (Sinful Colors Snow Me White), outline either on the inside or outside of the C-shapes by creating 2 more C-shapes with the striping brush.

Step 4: Again using the darker polish (Zoya Carly), with the striping brush trace over the middle of the white C-shapes to soften the bright white color.

Step 5: With the striping brush and the green polish (SquareHue Flower Power) make 2 smaller lines to create leaves.

YOU POLISH: May Subscription Box Review (Neither Here, Nor There, & Like Totally)

Happy Saturday afternoon! Can you beleive this month is already almost over? Well, if you can't, let me show you the polishes in You Polish's May subscription box! After the jump, swatch and review for youuuu.

You Polish Neither Here

Neither Here is a aqua blue shimmery base with various sizes of white and black hex, white, black and pink hex, plus some white and black bar glitters. Super fun polish! I like how this is a twist on your typical black and white glitter topper. It also creates somewhat of a jelly sandwich effect.

I did 2 coats of Neither Here, no undies, plus top coat. Application of Neither Here was great and dry time was also great. No complaints from me today.

You Polish Nor There

Nor There is pretty similar to Neither Here (if that wasn't confusing haha), just reversed colors. Nor There is a hot pink shimmery base with different sizes of white and black hex and squares, turquoise squares, and black and white bar glitter. Again, another fun twist on your typical black and white glitter polish. I love how in both Neither Here and Nor There have contrasting glitter that really pops!

I did 2 coats of Nor There, no undies, plus top coat. Application was great again, and so was dry time. I didn't have any issues with this polish either.

You Polish Like Totally

Like Totally is a white-ish (it isn't a true white, leans a little more cream colored) based polish with neon medium hex and neon small hex with some crazy bits of hot pink neon glitter throughout. When Lauren showed me this polish it really reminded me of a splatter nail art design, without the mess :P While I don't fancy white based polishes as much as other people do, I think others will enjoy this polish. I've seen a handful of white based with neon glitter polishes and this one has a different look to it, I think.

I did 2 coats of Like Totally, no underwear, plus top coat. If you want it to look more white, I suggest layering over a white polish. Lauren does an awesome job on white based polishes, by the way. Every time I review one for her I tell her how great they are. It seems that white based polishes are a hit or miss, y'know? She does an awesome job, real talk. Great and smooth application and a great dry time. No complaints again! :]

Zoya Summer 2013 Stunning Collection

Hellllllooooo there polished people. Today I have the Zoya Summer 2013 Stunning Collection to share with you. Before Zoya sent me these to review, I KNEW I HAD to have them. Anyone else a sucker for awesome cremes? Raise your hand! This is your post. If you love color, this is also your post. :] Swatch, review, a widdle bit o' nail art after the jump!

Zoya Summer 2013 Stunning Collection

Perfect colors for a summer collection! The yellow, orange, pink, and hot pink all seem to have a shimmer to them (I noticed it in the bottle). It doesn't come across much on the nail, but if you really are concerned with that... I'd get out that magnifying glass bahahaha. I'm excited for these, hope you are too!

Zoya Darcy

Zoya Darcy is a bright, sunny, buttery, yellow creme. If you're a sucker for a good yellow creme (I know they're hard to come by!), you'll love this polish. It was perfect (with no balding!) in 2 coats. The formula was awesome and so was the dry time. No complaints here!

I'm already in love with Zoya Pippa, which is another yellow creme, but this one is a bit brighter. Pippa may have competition for being my favorite yellow polish now! I don't have comparisons in today's post, but I do plan to do a comparison post in the future. I didn't want it to be super long.

Zoya Thandie

"A citrus orange" is how Zoya describes the color Thandie. Maybe I'm crazy, but I think it leans a little more toward the coral side of orange polishes. (I am crazy) Nonetheless, this is a brilliant color. It's bright, fun, and PERFECT for summer. Thandie was good to go in 2 coats. No complaints - formula was spot on and dried quickly.

Zoya Micky

This is just a warning: if you're a pink polish lover - you need these amazing pinks. I'm not a pink polish lover, or pink lover in general, in any way, shape or form. BUTTTTT these pinks are freakin' amazing. Usually I find pinks to be like reds. You know? "Meh, seen 'em all!" But something about these next 2 pinks... they're just awesome.

Micky is described as an "amazing coral creme". I don't find it to be super coral, in fact it reminded me more of a brand new, bright, pink eraser haha. I tried to find other words to describe it, but that's all that comes to mind when I looked at my nails! Micky was perfect in 2 coats, no issues, great formula.

Zoya Yana

Oh, Yana! How I want to hate you because you're pink, but I can't because you're so freakin' awesome and pretty. DARNIT! Anyways... Zoya describes Yana as a "geranium pink". This polish is a bright, hot, vibrant, pink. I usually gravitate toward the hot pink polishes, therefore I have a lot of hot pinks. This doesn't match any of the bright, hot pink polishes I own. This ones a stunner fersure. This was again 2 coats. No issues, great dry time and great formula. All around a great polish.

Zoya Rocky

I don't feel this shade is entirely unique, but this color is super pretty though and I do enjoy it! Zoya describes Rock as a "serene blue cream". I did 2 coats and Rocky had a great formula and dry time like the others. This one is also aching for a comparison post haha

Zoya Josie

Josie is a "grassy green cream", and she is exactly that. LALALALOVE this color! I don't think Josie pops as much as other polishes in this collection, but it's an awesome green polish. I did 2 coats of Josie for total coverage. No issues again, great formula and great dry time!

AND, because all these polishes were screaming at me "STRIPE NAIL ART", that's exactly what I did. I mean, why would I ignore requests made by nail polish? Pft.

WEEE! How fun is that? It reminds me of a bright beach ball or one of those beach umbrellas! These colors are totally fun together.

Then I took it a step further, I stamped a little:

I hope you all enjoyed this collection as much as I did! If I HAD to choose 3 must have colors from this collection, I'd go with: Darcy, Yana and Josie. But, if you're a creme polish lover... I totally recommend this entire collection, it's awesome.

I won't have the 2nd part of the summer collection for a few more days, crazy mailing address mix up and lying old apartments involved :[ BUT, I will have it eventually!

ANNATNAILS: Nail Polish Jewelry Review

Hello hello! Quite early for me to be posting, huh? Haha that's what happens when I have a 10 AM Drs appointment, I guess. Today I will be reviewing a few necklaces by Anna of Annatnails! In her shop, she offers nail polish decorated shell pendant necklaces (which are all gorgeous btw), nail polish pendant necklaces, nail polish statement rings, nail spines, photography pendant necklaces and photography statement rings.

After the jump I have close ups of the necklaces, and shameless selfies of me wearing them (because I know how much you want to see those lmao).

The first necklace is a bead pendant painted with Zoya Mimi:

I really liked this pendant because it brought out the gold details of Zoya Mimi. It also looks different from different angles due to the curvature of the pendant, so cool!

There are 2 things I love about this necklace: 1) It's SO light, almost feels like you're not wearing a necklace haha. I even forgot a few times :| YAY ME! 2) The colors. Oh me oh my, I love the colors. I love that this specific one has a ton of colors, making it very versatile.

This pendant is made with HER photography, "pictures were printed on light sensitive paper in the darkroom"... "No two photos are alike! It's like you're wearing my artwork!" So awesome, how talented is she! You're going to have to check out the rest of her photography pendants! While they're not nail polish - they are pretty awesome.

Annatnails Shell Pendant Necklace

This shell necklace is painted with a Color Club flakie polish over black. All her seashell pendants are handmade and she only uses nail polish to paint them. Such a cute idea too, I never would of thought! I follow Anna on Instagram, and I have been for awhile now, and I remember her posting some of her painted shells before they were on Etsy. She does a great job with them and they are really beautiful. :]

I really love all 3 of these necklaces and how unique they are. I can see these making great gifts for friends, family, or just any polish lover in your life (like yourself bahhaha)!

Month of the Military Child

As you may (or may not) know, April is Month of the Military Child. And today, April 15th, was the day chosen where everyone will wear purple to honor these children. Purple is the color that represents all branches of the US military. While I do not have children, my nephews are military children and I have a lot of military wife friends who have children!

I've been asked a few times what exactly is Month of the Military Child. It's simply a month to honor military children and their military families. As a US Navy wife, I have made many (not so easy) sacrifices in my life... and I can only imagine the sacrifices kids are forced to make (possibly multiple times) throughout their childhood. So April is the month that was chosen in 1986 to recognize military families and their contributions. If you want to know more about this month, you can go here. The website also gives some ideas of how to celebrate the month. :]

SquareHue Bloom Collection (L->R) Yellow Submarine,
Flower Power & Groovy Love

Hihihi! Happy Friday! If you're having some rainy, ugly weather, like we are right now - maybe these colors from SquareHue's April Box will brighten your day. This month's collection is called The Bloom Collection, fitting for April. After the jump, I have swatch, review, some nail art and all the links you need!

SquareHue Yellow Submarine

Yellow creme polishes are one of my favorite polishes. Yellow Submarine is a bright, yellow creme polish. As you might see in the bottle shots, there is some slight shimmer... sadly, that doesn't come across on the nail well. But a pretty, buttery, pollen-y yellow nonetheless!

I did 3 coats of Yellow Submarine. It always seems to be a hit or miss though when it comes to formula. Zoya Pippa and China Glaze Lemon Fizz are my top 2 yellow creme polishes for formula and dry time. This one was okkkkkayyyy in my book. While the dry time was good to go, there was a bit of balding for me (you can see on my pointer and middle nails). I'm not turned off by this formula though, I'm willing to give it another shot. Probably one of the better formulated yellow cremes I have though.

SquareHue Flower Power

Flower Power was my favorite in the collection! That shouldn't be any surprise though, we all know how I love my greens haha. Flower Power is a medium, grassy, green creme polish. It reminds me of all the fresh leaves on the trees in the spring!

I did 2 coats of Flower Power. This had the perfect formula, smooth application, and a good dry time. I really cant complain about this one!

SquareHue Groovy Love

Okay I have to admit - the name Groovy Love, reminds me of when I was younger (elementary/middle schoolish) haha I was obsessed with bell bottom jeans, tie dye, peace signs, flowers, ect. I can't be the only one! Or maybe I was lmao... I digress haha. Groovy Love is a pretty, light purple, creme polish. It kind of reminds me of purple jelly beans actually!

I did 3 coats of Groovy Love. Again, no issues with this formula, application or dry time. I also like how shiny this one dried. While all of these are relatively shiny without a top coat, I think this one had the most shine to it! Pretty impressive.

Figured I'd slap some spring nail art on my fingers. I've been depriving both of us from it lately!

SquareHue Bloom Collection Nail Art

Just okay haha. Meh, it reminds me of Easter! These polishes were nice to work with for nail art though :]

Just a side note because people have been asking me how I like SquareHue in comparison to Julep... I have been subscribed (and been paying for) SquareHue since December (I accidentally skipped January though haha). So far, I have no complaints about SquareHue's polishes. I think the formula might be a taddddd better than Julep's formulas. You don't get the little "extras" Julep throws in there, but usually I give those to someone else haha.
