Well it's been almost 6 months since my last post so I'll quickly catch everyone up with what's been going on....

· Thanksgiving - made a pumpkin pie.....mmmmm good!
· Halloween – pondered the phrase ‘Halloween apples’…am I right Bob?
· Rememberance Day - remembered that pumpkin pie....it was really good!
· NFL road trip to Minneapolis - headed south to watch the Bears (yay) lose bad to the Vikes (boo) with Beilner, Goody and Moose. Always a good time with those fellas....I think Beilner teabagged me as I slept.
· Christmas - hung my stocking by the chimney with care.......it stayed empty :-(
· New Year's - nuthin'.
· Valentines Day – fell in love with pumpkin pie all over again…they sell that stuff year ‘round!

So that brings us up to more recent times…..such as the end of February when I took a trip to the Mayan Riviera as I had a hankerin’ for some warm sun and beach. It was a bit of a different vacation for me as I headed down there all by myself and wasn’t really sure what to expect. Things turned out well….I was upgraded to a 1000 sq. ft. oceanfront master suite, met plenty of friendly Americans and developed quite a taste for tequila. The resort I stayed at offered plenty of tequila tastings so I was able to try quite a few different brands. Here, in list form (“lists are good” as you may recall from Steve Marsh’s blogging tips 101), are some of my favorites….

· Don Julio Reposado – a popular tequila in Mexico and considered by tequila people as a great “go to” tequila…..definitely better than Sauza or Cuervo.
· 1800 Reposado – I really enjoyed this one. Aged for about 6 months….has a nice sweetness and smoothness almost like a scotch. I took home a bottle of this and prefer it to the more expensive Don Julio.
· Centenario Anejo – this one’s aged for about 18 months to 2 years. Sweet, smokey and smooth….for sippin’ only.
· Cabo Wabo Blanco – the only silver tequila in this list….un-aged with a nice warm bite! Has olive and lime undertones. Reminded me of a dry gin martini….also took home a bottle.

Yes, Patron is absent from this list as it seems that it is not a very popular tequila in Mexico and is kinda hard to come by there. I have heard mixed things, but I look forward to trying it and coming to my own conclusion. I heard Pfeif has a stash ;-)

That’s about all I have for this post…..I could go on with some video game recommendations but the last time I did that I got cartridge head. Future plans include Bobo’s wedding social at the end of March and a quick trip to Calgary over the Easter weekend for Anolafest 2 in conjunction with Stangherlin Winefest. I’m out……

First order of bidness....congrats to the Baker's on the birth of their son. Thankfully, from what I can see in the photos, the little guy has not inherited his old man's cup size! But seriously folks....best of luck Darren and Alison as you enter parenthood.

Secondly....I was out driving last week and saw a banana peel on the road which I swerved to avoid hitting.....thanks Mario Kart.

Next....a special thanks to Nat for sending me a shopping bag from my new chain of candy stores in Alberta. That's the first pic.....LL's Olde Tyme Candy Shoppe (they even spelled all the words right). Next time you're in Alberta and have a hankerin' for some Black Jack chewing gum or an Abba Zabba bar check out LL's Olde Tyme Candy Shoppe....mmmmm olde tyme!!

Now the pic on the right I had to stick in because I was shocked to learn from Bob's last post that there is in fact no more character on the Honeycomb cereal box. My Honeycomb eating days were filled with tales of the Honeycomb Kid and now nothin'! All the other characters are still around....Tony the Tiger, Snap, Crackle and Pop, Dig 'em the Frog, Sugar Bear, Toucan Sam, the Trix Rabbit, Lucky, Buzz Bee (that's the Honey Nut Cheerios guy), those three chefs from Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cap'n Crunch, Count Chocula, that bird who's crazy for Coco Puffs. So why no Honeycomb Kid? Come to think of it, even though those other guys are still on the boxes you never see them in commercials anymore...what's up with that? As a matter of fact the only one who is still making commercials is that damn Mini-Wheat guy.....he's the worst one....his commercials suck! If I passed that Mini-Wheat on the street I'd punch him in his face and knock the frosting off his goddamn back....sing your gay songs now Mini-Wheat!

LL's Olde Tyme Blog

Well I have to admit this is a little awkward. Never blogged before but here goes……

Several years ago while enjoying some pops with the fellas I came up with the idea of creating my own line of restaurant condiments. It’s kind of along the lines of a Newman’s Own type deal but I call it LL’s Olde Tyme. The marketing scheme is simple…..just take a sharpie and write LL’s Olde Tyme (in fancy script) on existing restaurant condiments. My first product was LL’s Olde Tyme Parm, available at a Boston Pizza near you. Since that ground breaking venture other products have followed:

LL’s Olde Tyme Salt
LL’s Olde Tyme Splenda
LL’s Olde Tyme Napkins
LL’s Olde Tyme Hooter’s Hot Sauce

As you can see the possibilities here are endless! And although I’m not making much (any) money off of this idea, it sure is fun to write LL’s Olde Tyme (in fancy script) on restaurant condiments with a sharpie.

Oh yeah, Bob I found your sandwich…..delicious! Could have used some LL’s Olde Tyme Prepared Mayonnaise though………
