This past weekend I spent “picking” with my daughter. We love to take long road trips stopping at every antique and odds n’ ends stores. Over the years, we have really acquired some pretty awesome things. There is not one type of thing that I really like to collect, but I always like to find a bargain. My daughter is good at taking things that we get for a good price and selling them on Ebay. She recently convinced me that I needed to wildblue so that I could follow our auctions on-line daily. I have really enjoyed getting on-line and looking up information about things that I find on the road. I found one really great antiques website called Miller’s Antiques. They have a great dictionary where you can search virtually anything and everything old and find some kind of information about it. If I had known that I was going to have this much fun on-line, I probably would have let my daughter talk me into it earlier!

I have worked from home for a few years now, but I have been pretty traditional about where and when I work. I set up a home office, and during work hours I work. I don’t turn on the TV, call my parents to catch up, or run errands. I started to think about my situation recently and was wondering what the benefits from working at home are if I’m not even giving myself the flexibility to work when I want, and from where I want. I don’t get any of the social interactions that most people get working in an office, so sometimes it gets pretty lonely. I decide to start exploring things I can do to get out more, and maybe work from a coffee shop or library somewhere. One of the things I came up with was to sign up for 4g wireless internet service. This service would give me the freedom to work from another location, but know I could still keep in touch and send work to my clients. I’m excited about getting started and can’t wait to start exploring all of the possibilities.

A recent trip to the library surprised me with many gifts. I love local publications almost as much as I love anything that is showing on my directv houston satellite tv channels. My adoration for local papers and magazines prompted me to pick up a recent copy of the local family magazine. It gave me a lot of ideas to keep my kids busy during the summer. The article surprised me by giving me actual places I should visit with my kids. Some of the places are free; some places required me to spend a few dollars. The first place on the list was a toy store. I do not like toy stores because of the consumerism. I also do not like having to bring my kids out of a store crying because I refused to buy the latest gadget or doll. This toy store is different. They buy and sell used toys. That sounds like a great store to have during these hard economic times. What is even more fascinating about the store is that it is owned by a mom.

I'm not prone to watch reality shows other than snippets here and there when channel surfing. However, there is one reality show that has caught my attention “Flipping Out”. My time is scheduled around this show. I control the www.cannonsatellite.com TV when this program is broadcast. I do not want to miss one minute of this show.

Originally, I had thought “Flipping Out” was about fl! ipping houses and is what caused me to tune in. Flipping houses is an aspect of the program. But, the cast is the feature that snared me. Perfectionist Jeff Lewis is a designer, who originally bought houses, renovated them and sold them. The last few seasons of the show have Jeff moving more in the direction of designer extraordinaire. Jeff's ability to design is not what makes this show. It is Jeff's expectations of his staff and his reaction when they do not meet those expectations that I consider the highlights.

Jeff Lewis has sent employees to the bathroom in tears. He has had to be scolded by his maid, Zoila, and his assistant, Jenni, for his actions. In one episode, Jeff expected on of his employees to apologize to his dog. The employee had not informed the dog he was taking it to the vet. Not being forewarned about where he was going evidently caused the dog undue stress.

"Flipping Out" is as good as any sitcom for laughs.

The Steakhouse, located on Ninth Avenue, has designed a one-of-a-kind meat costume made of 112 pounds of raw meat that includes a 32-ounce rib eye steak hat and petite filet mignon shoes. And it could be yours for $100,000.

The New York native wore the infamous meat dress to the MTV Video Music Awards last month — where she picked up eight moonmen including video of the year for “Bad Romance.”

“We are ’meating’ a demand for the most sought after costume of Halloween 2010,” Marc Sherry, co-owner of the restaurant, said in a press release. ”You can go trick or treating in the raw , literally. My staff thought I was going gaga when I told them they had to create this costume without butchering it.”

The dress is made of USDA prime, dry-aged sirloin, porterhouse, rib-eye and Kobe steaks. No costume is complete without accessories. It comes with designer trick-or-treat handbags filled with filet mignon and chocolate sauce, 40 ounce porterhouse steaks with candy corn, Kobe beef steaks and Kobe burgers, and a replica of a VMA trophy.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime, must-have costume. Just think of the memories, the photo opportunities, the 15 minutes of fame just by wearing Lady Gaga’s meat dress,” Sherry said.

I should clear something up...you have to have Auto complete or Auto suggest enabled so that when you type words into Google, it starts suggesting results for you. Then type "is" and a space. The top two results are "Is Lady GaGa a Man?" and "Is Lady GaGa a Hermaphrodite?" Fun stuff!
