For those of you who have written to me beseeching news of a sequel, I have something good to tell you. I just finished writing the first chapter!

To be frank, I had no intention of penning a sequel when I created Robin: Lady of Legend. Actually, I intended for it to be a self-contained piece with Robin “riding off into the sunset,” so to speak. However, your earnest requests have gotten my creative juices flowing, so I pulled out my keyboard and started writing. I still have no idea where much of the story will go or even when it will be finished, but I have made a definite start!

Robin Makes It to the Semi-Finals!

Thank you to everyone who posted a review of my book, Robin: Lady of Legend! It has successfully made it to the Semi-Finals of Amazon’s Breakthrough Novel Award. That means it beat out 99% of the competition (in other words, it was in the top 1% of all entries).

The three finalists will be announced on May 18. I don’t think I made it (finalists were supposed to be contacted today), but I am grateful and please with how far Robin did go (and I’m officially a second-prize winner). Thanks so much for all your help and support!

How Many Pages is Robin: Lady of Legend?

Because Robin: Lady of Legend is not currently available as a print book (it is an ebook available exclusively from Amazon.com), it doesn’t have an exact page count. However, its approximate page count is 400 pages (slightly less than Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban), based on the number of words in both books. Hope that helps!

Update: Amazon has listed its estimate of Robin’s book length as 277 pages, based on a standard 6″ x 9″ paperback book with 11 point font size. I can tell you that the printed version would definitely be longer than 277 pages, but you can use that number if you want, since that’s what Amazon shows.

Robin Makes It to the Second Round of ABNA!

Yesterday, Amazon.com announced the second-stage winners of its Breakthrough Novel Award contest. I am one of them! That means I am one step closer to the grand prize: a publishing contract with Penguin, which includes a $15,000 advance.

I have been really busy lately, so I had actually forgotten that Amazon was supposed to make the announcement. It was such a pleasant surprise to get the notice in my email that I had made it to the second round!

This round’s winners were based on a pitch they wrote describing their book. The next round’s advancees will be determined based on an excerpt they submitted (up to 5000 words, or about 1.5 chapters) from the beginning of their book. If I become one of the 250 quarterfinalists, Amazon will open my excerpt up to their readers, who will then vote for the 50 semifinalists. I hope if I make it that far (and I believe my book is more than capable of doing so!), you will all vote for me!

For now, it’s back to the grind of everyday life. Thank you all for your wonderful support!
