The Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the 10th anniversary for the Cancer Association of Havasu. In 1999 a group of dedicated volunteers formed the Cancer Association of Havasu with big plans and lofty goals for serving the needs of cancer patients and survivors in Lake Havasu City. The original goals have long been surpassed but still guide the organization in its outreach to the community. The organization supports itself trough fundraisers along with private and corporate donations, to provide services and education. For more information call the association at 453-8190.

The 2009 graduates of the Havasu Leadership Development program recently completed a community project in conjunction with the Arizona Department of Economic Security and the Arizona’s Childrens Association. The class decorated and outfitted three rooms within the new Tradewinds Building at the London Bridge Plaza. The rooms will be used for children and families in transition and for visitation. Project manager Lisa Riddle and her team planned and implemented the project over the past nine months. Children of the classmates and the Lake Havasu Chamber Ambassadors assisted the opening with a ribbon cutting. The Leadership Program is sponsored by the Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce.

American Veteran’s Traveling Tribute

The Lake Havasu Chamber Ambassadors were honored to conduct a ribbon cutting to open the public ceremonies for the American Veteran’s Traveling Tribute at Windsor Beach State Park. The Tribute features an 80 percent replica of the Viet Nam Memorial and other veteran’s exhibits. The AVTT was hosted in Lake Havasu City by the Freedom Bridge Foundation. Approximately 25,000 visited the Tribute during its 4-day visit to Lake Havasu City.
