StillWaters by Golf Cart

Can you spend an entire weekend at Lake Martin without getting in your car? I decided to find out by staying in StillWaters all weekend to see how many places I could get to by golf cart without having to drive my car.

Personally, I think StillWaters is the most golf cart friendly neighborhood around Lake Martin. Spending the weekend there gave me a chance to put that opinion to the test. The Cart Source in Dadeville loaned me a golf cart, and they were super nice about it.

Getting Around StillWaters by Golf Cart

The golf cart was an E Z GO ELiTE, and it was really nice. It had an LED screen, a radio, seating for four people, as well as plenty of room in the back for my cooler and everything else. It was pretty much perfect for what I was trying to do.

The Cart Source is a local company in Dadeville on Highway 280. You’ve probably seen them if you’ve driven up and down 280. They’re huge, and they’ve got all the best dealerships there.

My Home Base at Villas on the Harbor

Another big part of making this work was using 507 Villas on the Harbor as my home base. It’s a listing of mine with three bedrooms, a boat slip, a deeded PWC slip, four parking spots, as well as a garage for the golf cart.

This condo is now under contract, but I have another awesome condo listing in StillWaters. It’s Harbor Pointe Condo E103. This is another great spot that gives you access to all StillWaters has to offer plus a private sandy beach and lakeside pool. Harbor Pointe Marina Inside StillWaters

Once I got to the Villas on the Harbor, I was 100 percent in golf cart mode. The car keys could stay put. From there, I started seeing just how much I could do around StillWaters without getting back in the car.

One of the best things about StillWaters is that they’ve got their own marina inside the gates. Harbor Pointe Marina gives you a place to store your boat, get gas, and visit the ship store. That’s a huge benefit if you’re trying to spend your weekend inside StillWaters.

The Landing at Harbor Pointe is also right there. It’s one of the newest and most popular restaurants, and I noticed something I hadn’t really paid attention to before. They’ve already got about eight or nine golf cart parking spots, which makes getting there by golf cart really convenient.

Restaurants Inside StillWaters

I was able to eat at The Landing at Harbor Pointe without getting in my car. Also, Prime Steakhouse gave me another option for lunch inside StillWaters. Having restaurants that I could reach by golf cart made this whole experiment pretty easy.

Lake Martin Grocery Store by Golf Cart

One of the key elements that made the whole plan work was Lake Martin Grocery. It’s connected to StillWaters by a golf cart path, so I didn’t even have to get out on the highway. I could just ride the golf cart over there, and it’s a full grocery store.

At that point, I felt like I was kind of cheating. This really wasn’t too hard. I still hadn’t started my car and had been getting around by golf cart the whole time.

Church of the Living Waters

When Sunday rolled around, I didn’t even have to leave StillWaters for church. Church of the Living Waters is inside the gates. It’s also right on the water at StillWaters.

Golf and Amenities at StillWaters

For you golfers out there, no trip to StillWaters is complete without playing at least one round of golf. StillWaters also has a lot of other amenities besides the golf course. All of that adds to the idea that you can park your car and spend your time inside the neighborhood.

The Golf Cart Lifestyle Is Real

One thing I noticed over the course of the three days was that I wasn’t the only person doing this. I bumped into about three people who were basically doing the same thing I was doing. I saw some friends of mine who had just bought a boat, and they were tooling around StillWaters, kind of scoping it out.

A guy at the grocery store really had it dialed in. He was in and out with his stuff, some cold beer, hot dogs, and hamburgers. He had clearly done this before.

Can You Spend a Weekend in StillWaters Without Your Car?

After spending three days doing it, I can say that getting around StillWaters by golf cart was not too hard. I could get to restaurants, the grocery store, Harbor Point Marina, church, golf, and other amenities without starting my car. For someone who likes the idea of throwing down the car keys for the weekend, that’s a pretty cool part of the StillWaters lifestyle.

Harbor Pointe E103 For Sale at Lake Martin

If you are looking for a Lake Martin condo where you can show up and start enjoying the lake, take a look at Harbor Pointe E103. A Great Location Inside StillWaters

Harbor Pointe is located inside the gated StillWaters community on the eastern side of Lake Martin. From E103, you are close to Harbor Pointe Marina, The Landing at Harbor Pointe, Bluffs, and Prime Steakhouse. That gives you plenty of options without having to go very far.

Of course, you can always get in the boat. Head over to Chuck’s for pizza and wings or spend the day exploring Lake Martin. If you are traveling by car, Niffer’s, Oskar’s, and Lake Martin Beach Club are also nearby.

StillWaters also gives you access to golf, tennis, a sandy beach, a lakeside pool, and other community amenities. You can play golf in the morning, get on the boat that afternoon, and grab dinner at Prime that evening. I can think of worse ways to spend a Saturday.

Ground Floor Lake Living

One feature I would not overlook at E103 is the ground floor location. Think about everything you bring to the lake, like coolers, groceries, towels, floats, lake bags, and fishing rods. All that stuff has to go somewhere.

Being on the ground floor makes getting in and out of the condo easier. More importantly, your deeded boat slip is just a short walk away. Grab the cooler and head to the boat.

That is the way a lake place ought to work.

Plenty of Room for Family and Friends

Inside, E103 has 1,518+/- sq ft with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. That gives you enough room to bring family and friends while still having the convenience of owning a condo. When everyone is ready to get outside, you have plenty of options there too.

Harbor Pointe gives you easy access to the water, piers, and plenty of places to enjoy being outside. The condo also sits in a quiet cove where you can swim, float, and enjoy the water without ever cranking the boat. Sometimes that is exactly what you want to do at the lake.

Some lake days call for riding all over Lake Martin. Others call for getting in the water and not going anywhere. You can do either one here.

Less Upkeep, More Lake Martin

One of the reasons people consider condos at Lake Martin is simple. They want a place at the lake, but they do not necessarily want another house to maintain. That is where the condo lifestyle can make a lot of sense.

The $1,316 quarterly HOA fee at Harbor Pointe covers maintenance of the pool, beach, buildings, piers, and landscaping, plus community electric and water. That can make a big difference when you are talking about a second home. You came to Lake Martin to enjoy Lake Martin, not to spend Saturday working on the yard.

61 Olona Drive in Dadeville hit the Lake Martin real estate market and is pending just one day later! Listed at $1,349,000, this Blue Creek area waterfront home gave buyers a combination that made a lot of sense: plenty of room, a great waterfront setup and a location that makes it easy to enjoy Lake Martin.

A Lake Martin House With Room for Everybody

One of the biggest selling points at 61 Olona Drive was pretty simple. It had room for everybody.

The 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home offered 3,754+/- sq. ft., including a large game room with a pool table and ping pong table. So, instead of everybody disappearing to different corners of the house, there was actually a place for kids, cousins and friends to hang out together.

That fit the theme of this house pretty well. This was a Lake Martin home built for weekends when everybody shows up.

119’+/- of Waterfront and a Great Lake Setup

Of course, the house was only part of the story.

61 Olona Drive had 119’+/- of Lake Martin waterfront and a long west-facing view across the water. It also had a private boat ramp, covered boat slip, Sea-Doo lift, pier and seawall.

The private boat ramp was especially handy. Having the ability to put a boat or Sea-Doo in the water right at the house is one of those Lake Martin features that can make lake life a whole lot easier.

Close to Lake Martin Favorites

The Blue Creek location was another big plus.

By boat, 61 Olona Drive is close to The Landing at Harbor Pointe, Chuck’s, Bluff’s Daiquiri Bar, Chimney Rock and plenty of other Lake Martin destinations. By car, Niffer’s, Singleton Marine at Blue Creek and the Lake Martin Beach Club are nearby. Lake Martin Grocery is also only about five minutes away by car.

Auburn Football and Lake Martin in the Same Weekend

There was another angle to this location that was hard to ignore.

Auburn is close enough that you don’t necessarily have to choose between an Auburn football weekend and a Lake Martin weekend. Stay at the lake, head to Auburn for the game, then come back to Lake Martin afterward.

Considering the game room already had a pretty strong college football theme, that seemed appropriate.

Pending After Only One Day

Ultimately, buyers decide whether the price, property and location line up. In this case, they didn’t need much time.

61 Olona Drive is pending after only one day on the Lake Martin real estate market.

That’s good news for the sellers, but it also says something about the market. When the right Lake Martin waterfront home comes along and buyers see value in it, things can still move quickly.

If you’re thinking about selling a home on Lake Martin, the lesson isn’t that every property will sell in one day. It’s that positioning a home correctly from the beginning still matters.

And every now and then, it works really fast.

I think one of the best things about owning a lake house is getting to watch your kids grow up there. At 390 Hickory Drive on Lake Martin, you have the kind of water right in front of the house where a lot of that growing up can happen. This 3 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom Lake Martin waterfront home is listed for $1,199,000, but to me, the story of this place starts outside.

Watch Your Kids Grow Up Right in Front of You

When they’re little, maybe you’re helping them catch a bream off the dock or watching them figure out how to stand up on a paddleboard. A few years later they’re playing King of the Hill on the Maui Mat, learning how to ski, or begging for one more turn on the tube. Then one day they’re the ones cranking up the Sea-Doo and heading out on their own.

At 390 Hickory Drive, you can watch a lot of that happen from the porch. There is plenty of water right in front of the house for skiing, tubing, paddleboarding, swimming, and riding the Sea-Doo. You don’t have to load everybody into the boat and go searching for enough room to play.

That’s a bigger deal than it might sound like if you’ve never owned a Lake Martin home before. Some of my favorite lake memories aren’t big planned events at all, but little things that happened while everybody was just hanging around the water. Give your family enough summers at a place like this, and those little things start adding up.

Big Water and a Big New Dock

Of course, the first thing you’re probably going to notice here is that the water is BIG. The view is amazing, and you can actually get out there and use it.

Then there is the dock, and I think that’s a really important part of this property. You’ve got room for the boat and Sea-Doos as well as space to swim and sit by the water. Pretty soon, the dock tends to become one of those places where everybody naturally ends up.

People sometimes overlook how valuable a really good dock can be when they’re shopping for Lake Martin real estate. In town, everybody talks about remodeling kitchens and bathrooms, and those things certainly matter here too. But at the lake, a nice dock and good waterfront can completely change how you use the property.

The House Works With the Lake

The house is two stories, and the layout makes sense for having family and friends at the lake. Upstairs is the street level, where you’ll find the kitchen and main living spaces along with those big Lake Martin views. You can be inside making dinner and still feel connected to what’s happening outside.

Downstairs is the lake level, putting you closer to the dock and all the action at the water. It also gives you additional space when friends and family start showing up for the weekend. And if you own a lake house long enough, you learn pretty quickly that people have a way of showing up.

That’s exactly how I think a lake house ought to work. People can spread out when they want to, but the house keeps pulling everybody back toward the water. After all, that’s why everybody came to Lake Martin in the first place.

Close to Some Lake Martin Favorites

When you do decide to leave home, you’re convenient to several places people actually go on Lake Martin. By water, you’re close to Chuck’s, The Landing at Harbor Pointe, Chimney Rock, and The Ridge Marina. That gives you plenty of options when somebody suggests jumping in the boat for lunch or an afternoon ride.

A convenient location is handy when you don’t feel like cooking or just want to get out for a while. Of course, with that dock and all that water waiting back at the house, I wouldn’t blame you for staying put.

The Thing I’ll Remember About 390 Hickory Drive

There are plenty of things I could point out about this Lake Martin waterfront home for sale, but I keep coming back to that porch and the water in front of it. I can picture somebody sitting there watching a kid catch a fish, finally get up on skis, knock somebody off the Maui Mat, or paddle a little farther away from the dock than they did the summer before. You get to sit there and watch them become a little more independent every year.

That’s one of the funny things about a lake house. You think you’re buying a house, a dock, and some waterfront, but years later those aren’t necessarily the things everybody remembers. They remember what happened there and who was sitting beside them when it did.

390 Hickory Drive is offered at $1,199,000 with 3 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. If you’re looking for a Lake Martin home for sale with big, usable water and a place where your family can make some memories of its own, I think this one is worth seeing.

The Perfect Wedding House in Trillium

Have you ever been in a boat, ridden by a house on Lake Martin, and thought, That Trillium house would be perfect for a wedding? Well, this home I’m talking about today has not one but two spots that would be awesome for a wedding. To me, this would be a perfect wedding house.

Two Incredible Ceremony Locations

It’s got two places where you could set chairs out and have a wedding. You could use one location if you wanted to face more generally east, or you could have the ceremony in the other spot if you wanted to face more generally west. Either way has some of the best views on Lake Martin.

This home sits out on the very end of a point in Trillium. If you’ve ridden your boat around this point at all, you know it. Listed by John Christenberry, an agent in my company, the list price is $5.5 million.

It’s a four bedroom house that sits on the end of the point. I mean, it’s basically a 270 degree view, almost 360 degrees. The property has 1,126 feet of shoreline that wraps all the way around the point.

Built Specifically for This Property

One of the first things you notice is the timber peg construction. There’s huge vaulted ceilings, a lot of wood, a lot of exposed wood beams, and an incredible wood floor with a big compass built right into the main living area. The craftsmanship immediately stands out.

Another feature you would expect inside Trillium on custom built homes like this is that they were designed with the views and the water in mind. The house sits on Trillium West Parkway, and it doesn’t feel like somebody got their favorite floor plan and just smooshed it onto the lot.

This house was built for this point, and this point might have been built for this house.

Why Some Buyers Choose Trillium

The buyers I see choosing Trillium, as opposed to somewhere like The Ridge, are often looking for a different feel. The Ridge is awesome, obviously, with a gated entrance, sidewalks, and tangible amenities that make it feel a little more formal. Trillium appeals to buyers who want something a little more laid back.

They don’t need a guard at the entrance. They don’t need sidewalks, and they like that it feels a little more old school Lake Martin and a little more loose. The lots are usually bigger with more wooded areas and more trees because that’s just the way the neighborhood was originally laid out.

Flat Lot. Deep Water.

I always say, “Deep means steep.” If you want deep water, you’re usually going to have a super steep lot. Trillium is one of those neighborhoods where that rule gets broken a lot.

There are a lot of houses in Trillium like this one. The lot is flat as can be, but it still has deep water or year round water. That’s a combination that’s hard to find on Lake Martin.

The Surprise I Didn’t See Coming

I’ve shown hundreds of people, probably thousands of houses, around Lake Martin. Another surprise is this house has a rooftop deck.

Literally on top of the roof. You’re up there amongst the ospreys with a full 360 degree view around the house. It’s one of those features you don’t expect to find, even after seeing thousands of homes.

Lake Martin Beach Club is Now Open!

Lake Martin has a new restaurant on the water. It’s called Lake Martin Beach Club, and it’s awesome. I’m excited to tell you about where it is, what they serve, and how to get there. CLICK HERE to visit their Facebook page.

First Impressions

We stopped by on their first night open. They had all hands on deck and even had a little band playing. The place had a fun atmosphere from the start.

What We Ordered

Their signature drink is the Lake Martin Painkiller. Honestly, I couldn’t get through more than a sip because, hey, I’m working and I take this stuff seriously. I’m an IPA guy, so I had a Good People IPA instead.

We had the flatbread, the wings, and the catfish finger basket. Everything was good, and we enjoyed it. The food actually came out really fast, which surprised me on opening night.

The wings were especially tasty. One comment at the table was, “That’s the best wings I’ve had all day.” The Ranch Water was also very good and refreshing with the right amount of alcohol, ice, and mixers.

A Little History

People like me always want to know what used to be there. Over the years, lots of things have been in this location. About twelve years ago it was a barbecue place, and later Castelluccio’s Italian restaurant spent some time here too.

I think one of the first YouTube videos I ever made was at the old barbecue place. It was really grainy because I think I shot it with a Sony Hi8 camera or something like that. This location has seen a lot of history over the years.

Where It Is

You probably recognize the building because it sits right on Highway 49. It’s right by Blue Creek Marina and close to Blue Creek Bridge. The restaurant sits between Niffer’s and Oskar’s on one of the busiest restaurant stretches on Lake Martin.

It’s also right by Creekside Lodge if you know the hotel. If you’re wondering about nearby neighborhoods, it’s very close to Magnolia Cove and StillWaters. That makes it easy to reach whether you’re staying nearby or just passing through.

Can You Get There By Boat?

A lot of people ask if you can get there by boat. The answer is technically yes, but Highway 49 Bridge is a low bridge. Check your clearance before you come because it might be tight depending on your boat.

I used to get under that bridge with my old boat. We weren’t sure if a pontoon would fit unless you dropped the bimini, but it might work. Somebody even joked that letting a little air out of the pontoons might help.

Worth the Trip

The food was great, the drinks were good, and the service impressed us. That’s saying something because this was their very first night open. I think we’ll definitely come back again.

Castaway Point is smack dab in the Kowaliga Bay area, so it’s close to the restaurants and a lot of the places people like to go. Matter of fact, you can pretty much walk across the street to The Social, one of the most popular waterfront restaurants on Lake Martin. It’s about a 2-minute walk from 26 Castaway Point.

It’s also right by Anchor Bay Marina. If you need gas, need to store your boat, or need pretty much anything for a day on the water, you’re right there. That’s a nice thing to have so close to your Lake Martin home.

Close to Kowaliga Restaurant and More

You’re also close to Kowaliga Restaurant, just a couple of miles away by water and by land. Then there’s Ricky’s, one of my favorite new stores and what some people are calling the “Buc-ee’s of Lake Martin.” Elliot’s is also just a few miles down the road.

That’s why the Kowaliga location means so much. I mean, it really is smack dab in the middle of it all. You can get to restaurants, marinas, stores, and some of the most popular spots on Lake Martin without going very far.

78± Feet of Lake Martin Waterfront

Of course, the reason you’re here is the lake, and 26 Castaway Point has 78± feet of Lake Martin waterfront. You can hang out inside and watch TV or football, or you can look right outside while your family swims in the lake. You’re just steps away from the waterfront.

14 Loblolly Ct. sold recently, and I’m super excited for my buyer clients! I sat down with my clients to get there view of why they think people shouldn’t wait to buy on Lake Martin.

A lot of people tell me they’re waiting for the right time to buy at Lake Martin. They’re waiting for the perfect house. I understand those reasons because buying a lake place is a big decision. But sometimes I think buyers should ask themselves a different question. What’s the worst that could happen if you buy now?
