TEAM SUPER JACK 2015!!

GO SUPER JACK!!

The Canine Cannonball is coming up this weekend, and is hosted by Dog Days Bar and Grill. This is a Dock Dogs sponsored event and always attracts a large crowd. We are super excited about this year’s Canine Cannonball because our own Jack Buckley Jacobs aka “Super Jack” will be competing (or in his eyes performing). Jack is a three year old black lab and this will be his second year competing in the Canine Cannonball. Jack will compete in the Big Air Wave category, also called dock jumping. The Big Air Wave measures the length of the jump, or how far off the dock the dog can jump. There are also two other categories Extreme Vertical and the Speed retrieve. The Big Air Wave will have three rounds on Friday at 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm. The next three rounds will be on Saturday at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm and the Extreme Vertical event will happen at 5:30.

The action continues Sunday with two more rounds of Big Air at 11am and 1pm and ends with the Speed Retrieve at 3pm. This is event is for the entire family and you will not want to miss out! The best part about the entire competition is that all the action is free to watch and any donations that are raised will go to the Dogwood Animal shelter in Osage Beach. Dogwood Animal Shelter will also have pets who need a great home available to adopt! We would love to see all of you out at Dog Days this weekend!

Lake Race 2015

As most people know the Lake race is always a big event here at the Lake of the Ozarks and it is already here!! In fact they kicked off the festivities Saturday with a 5k run/walk and a silent auction. I do know that they are still looking for volunteers for traffic control and to help run the booths. Volunteers get a free Lake Race T-Shirt, free sandwich and drink during your shift, and you get to be up close to all the racing action. There will be a volunteer party Wednesday, June 3^rd at 6pm at Beavers at the Dam. If you want to sign up to volunteer please follow the link here to find the contact information. Proceeds from this event go to LOWA (Lake of the Ozarks Watershed Alliance) and other local charities. Now let’s get to the schedule for the rest of this week’s activities!

Wednesday June 3^rd

Volunteer gathering at 6pm at Beavers at the Dam. All volunteers will receive their shirts and assignments at the party, and there will be refreshments.

Thursday June 4^th

Lake Race VIP reception for all Lake Race Sponsors, racers, and committee members. The reception will start at 6pm on the lower patio at Camden on the Lake.

Friday June 5^th

At 9am the lower Bagnell Dam Strip area will be blocked off, and set-up will start. Be sure if you need to get to other side of the dam you go around and take W off of Hwy 54. Vendors should be ready to go by noon completed by 5pm.
The fun starts at 6pm when the Lake Race Street party begins so come out and enjoy good food, meet the racers, and see the massive boats up close.
The Patrick Lentz Band will be there at 8:30pm.

Saturday June 6^th

All traffic is closed at 9am so people can watch the race up close.
Opening ceremony starts at 11:30.
The fun begins at noon when the race begins, and if you cannot make it out, there will be three hours of live TV coverage on Fox and KRBK TV and radio coverage on KRMS.
The strip will be reopened to traffic at 4pm.
There will be a Lake Race Party at Beavers on the stage.

Sunday June 7^th

Traffic blocked off at 10am.
The race starts at noon and goes until 4pm.
At 5:30 there will be an awards ceremony on stage at Beavers at the Dam.

Tuesday June 9^th

Lake Race Chopper Dropper cocktail party and ball drop will take place at the Osage National Golf Club.

Even though a “Spring Cleaning” is often viewed as a much deeper clean than normal, don’t forget the basics. The basics are important such as, sweeping, mopping, dusting, and wiping down counter tops.

Make a Great First Impression

A home’s first impression is curb appeal, so make sure it makes a good one! There are several small budget friendly “Spring Cleaning” steps a home owner can take to make sure that their home makes a great first impression every time.

Make sure the yard is free of any debris and leaves.
Ensure the lawn is consistently freshly cut.
Freshen mulch in bedded areas.
Pressure wash the house, especially if the home has vinyl siding. Pressure washing a home is very important and should be done at least once a year. (Make sure not to use too much PSI when cleaning your home so damage is not caused to the siding.) Why not add this to your Spring Cleaning list, so that the outside of your home remains fresh and bright and does not develop a dingy appearance.
If you have a green thumb and enjoy gardening, it definitely does not hurt to add some color to the front of your home with some beautiful flowers and greenery.
Flowers and greenery are always a nice touch, but don’t give yourself more than you can handle. They are not a necessity just an added bonus.

Summer is upon us, which means there will not be a shortage of fun activities here at the Lake, and golf is always at the top of most people’s fun list. The RE/MAX Lake of the OzarksCharitable Foundation is hosting the 31^st Clown Golf Classic at Osage National and all the proceeds raised will be donated to the DreamFactory. Pre-Tournament Activities
The tournament kicks off at Osage National on Friday, April 25^th at 5pm with a silent auction and cocktail party, and admission is only $25. There will also be a men’s and women’s putting contest. Proceeds from the Clown Golf Classic will go to the local Dream Factory Chapter that grants dreams to local children. The Dream Factory stands out among other organizations because they grant wishes to all children between the ages of 3 and 18 who are chronically ill, not just terminally ill. The Dream Factory is truly an outstanding organization, and because they use the grass roots system 90% of the proceeds donated actually go to making dreams happen. BLUE ACCENT COLORS

Finding the perfect color scheme for your living space is always one of the hardest challenges in designing homes. Zillow Digs predicts that blue will be the accent color of 2015. Deep blue and navy colors really pop with the natural earth tones, making it the top color for 2015. If redesigning or renovating your home is on your New Year’s Resolution you may want to find furniture and paints that are natural earth tone colors then look for blue accent pieces. A fresh coat of paint, new furniture, and accent pillows will give your home a fresh look and make it more appealing to potential buyers.

I know it seems crazy to start thinking about the New Year when Christmas is only a few days away, but most of the New Year’s Eve celebrations here at the Lake require reservations! There are tons of New Year’s Eve celebrations happening here at the Lake, so it should be easy to find one near you. It can be very time consuming to research where the best New Year’s Eve parties are going to be, what the theme is, and what band is playing. So we have done the research for you! Ring in The New Year 2015!!

The Inn at Grand Glaize is hosting its annual New Year’s Eve celebration on New Year’s Eve with appetizers and a cash bar starting at 6pm and dinner served at 7pm. The Ozark Mountain Oysters will be the entertainment for the evening starting at 8:30pm. It’s been a big year for Old Kinderhook with the Grand opening of The Ice in December and

The Lodge of Four Seasons is hosting an Around the World New Year’s Eve Experience. There will be a cocktail reception at 7pm in HK’s followed by an Around the World dining experience featuring traditional dishes from around the world at 8pm. Spontaneous Serendipity will perform from 9pm-12:30am with a champagne toast at midnight to bring in the New Year. Camden on the Lake has two bands booked for the evening and packages start at only $169 (lodging included). Money for Nothing will be performing at H. Toad’s from 9pm-1am with no cover! Five Turnknot will be performing in the Kinderhook Event Center from 9pm-1am (wristband required) and an after party with a DJ from 1am-3am for registered guest! New Year’s Eve Gala

The Lake Ozarks Swing Dance club is hosting a New Years Eve Gala at The Country Club Resort and Spa from 8pm-12:30am. The cost is only $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers and guest. Two drinks, party favors, and a champagne toast are included in the admission price. There will also be a cash bar and guests are encouraged to bring a snack to share as well. If you love to swing dance or just dance period this is sure to be a fun night you won’t want to miss! The Country Club is also offering dinner and room specials as well. It is awesome that all these resorts offer dinner and room specials, so be sure to take advantage of those deals. New Year’s Eve is also filled with laughter, toasts, and lots of dancing. We have really fantastic cab drivers here at the Lake, and we even have a designated driver service that strictly operates on tips. Christmas Lights and Shows at the Lake

It’s hard to believe that Christmas is only a week away, which means this weekend is the last weekend before Christmas to enjoy the Christmas lights and shows here at the Lake. There are several places in the Lake area to go see Christmas lights and the Main Street Music Hall puts on a great Christmas program you won’t want to miss. Even though Christmas for Kids and Candyland are done collecting for the season, there are still lots of organizations at the Lake you can donate to that give back to the community: Hope House, CADV, and the local food pantries. Be sure to follow our Holiday Activities Pinterest board for more events and activities here at the Lake, especially with New Years right around the corner!

Enchanted Village of Lights

The City of Laurie has been putting on the Enchanted Village of Lights for years and this year Laurie hopes to have the largest drive-through light display in all of Mid-Missouri. The Enchanted Village is made possible because local businesses sponsor different light scenes throughout the park. The park opens at 5pm and closes at 9pm except on the weekends they stay open until 10pm. Their last night of operation will be January 1, 2015. Trust me this is not something you will want to miss, plus it’s free, but donations are accepted.

Versailles Unity Circle of Lights

This year is the 8^th season the City of Versailles has lit of the city park for its annual Unity Circle of Lights. The event is named after the city’s monument the Unity Circle erected at the front entrance to the park and will feature over 40 light displays. This tour is completely free and is open from dark until midnight through January 1^st. One thing is for sure though you will not want to miss the opportunity to see these beautiful Christmas light displays.

St Patrick’s Festival of Lights

St Patrick’s park in Laurie is the oldest light park in the lake area, and focuses on the true meaning of Christmas, Jesus and his mother Mary. This light display will be open from 6pm-10pm through January 1^st and is free of charge! So make it a point to go see these fabulous light displays in the Lake area! Start in Laurie with the Enchanted Village since it opens first, then swing by St Patrick’s Festival, and finish off the night with the Unity Circle in Versailles. Deck the Docks Light Cruise

Everyone knows no matter what time of year it is the Lake is always gorgeous, especially when all of the docks are covered in lights! Enjoy the true Lake experience and enjoy a two hour boat ride with dinner for only $20! (You cannot eat much cheaper than that at your local Applebee’s) There is Deck the Dock Cruises on December 19^th, 26^th, and 27^th and boarding starts at 5:30pm. If you want to see the Lake at its finest you will not want to miss the Deck the Docks Light Cruise!

Christmas on Main Street

The Main Street Music Hall in Osage Beach never disappoints, especially when it comes to their annual Christmas on Main Street show. There will be tons of dancing, singing, and of course comedy and it is sure to make you smile and get you in the holiday spirit. Tickets are $20 dollars for adults, $18 for seniors, and $11 for children 5-12 years of age. They have showings at 7pm every night this week through Friday and then they take a few months off. So don’t miss your chance to see this phenomenal show! Additional ticket information and directions can be found at their website.

White Christmas Production

We are so lucky here at the Lake of the Ozarks because we are surrounded by great school systems (one more reason to make the move to the Lake), not just when it comes to education but also extracurricular activities. Camdenton Laker Theatre presents “White Christmas” the musical this weekend. There will be four showings Friday at 7:30pm, Saturday at 2pm and 7:30pm, and a matinee on Sunday at 2pm. The Laker Theatre Company never disappoints and is sure to be fun for the entire family. The new high school that opened in 2007 features a state of the art theatre and equipment and the musicals always have a live orchestra. Trust me you cannot find a better theatre experience at the Lake than this. Call 573-216-8926 to reserve your ticket, because they do sell out, or go to the Laker Theatre Company’s website and purchase your tickets there!

The weather is not going to be as nice this as last weekend, but at least most of these events this weekend are inside or can be enjoyed from the comfort of your heated vehicle.
