Good morning, everyone! The Office of the President Chorale is very pleased to host today’s Flag Raising Ceremony, as we face the day with much hope and optimism for our President’s State of the Nation Address later in the afternoon.

To start off, please join the OP Chorale with our dear musical director, Prof. Ronald Bello, as we sing the National Anthem, to be followed by the Oath to the Philippine Flag, to be led by Mr. Ervin Valenzuela, and to be followed by the Doxology.

And to give us some updates on what’s new, or shall I say, who’s new in our group, may we call on Dir. Marianito Dimaandal, Head of the MRO, and at the same time, the Overall Coordinator of the OP Chorale.

Thank you, Dir. Dimaandal. And before we proceed to the singing of “Bayan Ko,” which is a parallel song to the usual “Pilipinas Kong Mahal,” we also prepared a special number, entitled, “Seasons of Love,” a song from the Broadway musical Rent, written and composed by Jonathan Larson. This song asks us “How do we measure a year?” Some of you may say, by daylights, sunsets, and midnights. Some may say, by inches, miles, and cups of coffee. Others may say, by laughter and strife. But in the end, we’ll realize that the only proper measure of a year in our lives is LOVE.

BLOWBAG: 7 Things to Check Before Driving

Prevention is better than cure as people say. You can prevent car problems by taking the necessary precautions as stated here in my post. Here are the 7 things to check before you go out on a road trip. It is easy to remember; all you have to spell out is B-L-O-W-B-A-G.

B for Brake. Before going on for a ride, check the brake fluid and make sure it is performing at its maximum level. Check for the brake pads and gas pedal if it is 100% okay.

L for Lights. Check engine light, headlights, brake lights, and signal lights - if they are functioning well.

O for Oil. Start up your engine and when the engine is already warm, check the oil using a dipstick. Remember that oil expands when it is hot and contracts when it is cold, having you different readings upon measurement. The oil should reach the "full" mark to consider it good. Then, check if there is an oil leak.

W for Water. The water of the radiator should be full to prevent overheating. Bring an extra container of water for refilling purposes. Check if there is a water leak. You should also check the windscreen washer bottle to make sure there is enough supply.

B for Battery. Simply put, check the battery terminals and the level of electrolyte liquid inside the cells. Terminals should be kept clean while the liquid should reach the metal plates or cells. Refill it with water if needed.

A for Air. Having a flat tire sucks. Assess the air pressure of your tires and make sure there are no bulges and holes. If the tire treads are worn out, you have to change tires as soon as possible.

G for Gasoline. Long trip or not, you have to make sure you have enough gas by checking your gas gauge and refilling you reservoir at your favorite gas station.

May your car be a Toyota Camry, a school bus, or a passenger jeepney, as long as you are the driver, you have to check its BLOWBAG. And if still in doubt, you may visit your personal mechanic or an auto repair shop in your neighborhood to ask for help in making sure everything is all right.

I am a beach person. At least once a month, I would be seen treating myself for out-of-town trips to the beach or any place with water activities. It is my way of escaping and taking a break from the stressful life in the city. Sometimes, I bring my family along with me, or my friends if they have time. Sometimes, I go alone to have some Me Time and soul searching.

For me, swimming is an all-time physical activity; it is not only for the summer season. Whether you go to the beach or go swimming in a pool, the fun and enjoyment would not be complete without bringing your favorite beach stuffs and swimming gadgets.

If you are to go camping by the beach, you can buy beach cabana tents where you and your family can stay while the sun is at its peak and during bedtime. You can also buy foam pool floats or inflatable water floats to fully enjoy your beach escapade. If you own a beach resort or a house by the shore, why not choose from a variety of agio outdoor furniture where you can relax, enjoy the sunset and sunrise, and bond with friends.

Photography is now a sensation among Filipinos. If you have digicams, you're in; when you have a DSLR, you're cool. Here are some tips for you to read on when you have plans of travelling in the nearest future...

♥ Take photos of faces: your family, your friends, and/or even strangers. They're more interesting than anything else. They show emotions, and they do reflect YOUR emotions, too.

♥ On to the beach or island hopping? Protect your camera from being wet by wrapping it in a resealable plastic bag or a zip bag. Zip bags are available in selected sports stores and photo centers.

♥ Keep your battery from the heat of the sun by wrapping it with a piece of cloth. Over exposure to heat can drain your batteries.

♥ Before you explore places, explore your camera first. What's better way to get good photos is to know your camera settings better. Play with your cam modes and enjoy the scenery by capturing what lies in front of you. Remember: you can enjoy the view through your naked eyes, but using your lens will give you lifetime memories so you have to make it good.

Lucky Goes to the Strawberry Farm ♥

A dream came true for Lucky. At long last, he had been to the Strawberry Farm in La Trinidad, Benguet.

The Strawberry Farm is just a 30-minute car ride from Baguio City. Riding a cab, Lucky was charged P100 only. Not bad, eh?

You can buy freshly picked strawberries for only P80-P100 per kilo but since strawberry picking (do-it-yourself) is more exciting, Lucky chose to pay P200 per kilo.

You can also buy strawberry-flavored taho, strawberry-flavored ice cream, strawberry-flavored scramble, strawberry jam and strawberry wine in nearby stores. Lotsa strawberries! Yum-yum!

Lakwatserang Frog @ Baguio Buddha Temple

Lucky, the Lakwatserang Frog, goes to Baguio Buddha Temple. The temple is just an easy find. When you are on Session Road, look for Assumption Road (parallel to Mabini Road and adjacent to Magsaysay Road). Walk on until you reach the dead end, you will know that you are on the right track when you arrive at the Saint Louis University. Turn right and there you are.

From Session Road, you don't have to ride a cab. Walking is a good form of exercise.

Note: The gate of the temple is always closed. All you need is to ring the doorbell and ask permission from the Sisters there. Please do respect the place, keep your presence discreet. This is a holy place.

Meet Lakwatserang Frog, the future all-time travel buddy of I Am Nicely!

And this blog will serve as her online travelogue, where you will see photos of her everywhere. Here, you will also read travel information, tips and current events happening on Earth, most particularly in the Philippines.

"Lakwatserang Frog," the title, is derived from the words "lakwatsera" meaning "someone who loves to travel or someone who is always on the go" and "frog," an amphibian, is a term presently used by Filipinos to replace or jocularly call a person instead of his/her real name. For example, "Etchoserang Frog" (a person who gossips and fools around) or "Emoterang Frog" (a person who is so emotional and dramatic).
