A while back my sister did a shoot featuring some beautiful fern fabrics and wallpaper from Sanderson’s new Maycott Collection. So fresh and pretty. Ferns are often overlooked when it come’s to flower arranging and in fabric choices but as you can see here, there’s something quite lovely about them. These botanical fronds are a little more old world but can definitely be reinterpreted to create a contemporary feel.

I came across these beautiful floral arrangements on sköna hem and had to share them with you. It goes to show that all you really need is some creativity and a collection of interesting vases and bottles. You don’t need a whole bunch of flowers either, rather carefully select just a few striking flowers. Aren’t these too gorgeous?

I recently upgraded my phone and so I’ve finally joined the world of Instagram. A bit late but loving it nevertheless! It’s fantastic to get a sneak peak into some of my favourite bloggers lives and being able to see what’s going on in their city and surroundings. So I thought I’d start a weekly series where I introduce some of my Instagram favourites. First up is Alice Gao who is an amazing food and lifestyle photographer based in New York. These are just a few lovely pics that Alice has shared lately. Alice has an incredible eye for detail and every photo is just perfectly composed, even if it’s only for Instagram. Last week I popped into the recently opened In Good Company in Claremont, just opposite Cavendish Square. Light and airy with a cheerful yellow door, this pretty little shop is filled with fun party goodies and unique gifts. They stock everything you would need for a birthday party or special event, from matching paper cups and plates to paper straws, napkins, cupcake liners and more. They also stock some fabulous lifestyle books, imported knitted, wooden and retro toys, vintage party games, stationery, washi tapes and personalised notebooks. I spotted some lovely iPhone cases by Rifle Paper Co. and the latest issues of Sweet Paul magazine. It was certainly difficult to leave empty handed!

This mist is rolling in and I’m so glad I’ve got my morning run out of the way. It’s definitely time to start bringing in the layering in both your home and wardrobe. Chunky woolen knits and warm, cosy textures are what it’s all about. I’d love to get my hands on one of Little Dandelion’s handmade wool throws as seen in the photo just above. Keep warm, friends!

Have you come across images from Moooi’s ‘Unexpected Welcome’ collection from Milan Design Week? You may have but I thought I’d share some photos as their show looked absolutely incredible. Moooi took up residence at Via Savona 56 and transformed the space into an eclectic and rather magical world. New pieces along side older iconic pieces were displayed in different room settings with dramatic lighting and huge blown up portraits and images by Dutch photographer Erwin Olaf. You really need to take a look at this 360° panorama of the show to understand the giant scale and incredibly creative set design. You can also see more photos over on the Yellowtrace blog as Dana was one of the select few to attend the preview. Lucky lady!

There’s just something about the Scandinavians… perhaps it’s the quality of light or the fresh air in the North but their love of simplicity always dictates and brings such a clever creative edge. This apartment is for sale and wow, don’t I wish I could snap it up. I love the bare bones feel of the space although I’d add a bit more colour of course. I also love the industrial elements that run throughout. Take a look at the whole apartment here on Alvhem’s website.

I haven’t been to The Old Biscuit Mill for ages, so on Saturday morning my sister and popped in for a coffee and delicious breakfast bagel. We enjoyed the sunshine and checking out the mix of Cape Town creatives and their outfits. A bit of people watching always entertains us! There are currently some amazing local jewellery stands at the market, Oh Dear Megan, Famke, Pichulik, Dear Rae amongst others. Definitely worthwhile visiting if you’re looking for some beautiful jewellery.
