For the first quarter of 2012, LYP has chosen the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank as our Community Service partner.  The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank distributes more than 15 million pounds food and grocery products every year to more than 500 soup kitchens, shelters, and food pantries in 27 Central Pennsylvania counties. These agencies directly feed thousands of hungry families throughout Central Pennsylvania – including Lancaster.  We’d like to do our part and have a food drive through one of their “slow times of year”.

For the next three months at our monthly mixers, we’ll be collecting non-perishable items to donate at the end of March.  Some examples that are most valuable to the food bank include:  canned tuna, canned meats and stews, soup, peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, pasta and rice, canned and dried beans, pure fruit and vegetable juices, and baby food, cereal and formula (must be within code date).

Our goal is to collect 100 pounds of food by the end of March – but we need your help!  So next time you’re at the store, pick up a few extra items and bring them along to the next mixer.  Together we can help feed the hungry in Lancaster County!

Lancaster Young Professionals is pleased to announce information regarding our 2012 Annual Meeting & Mixer. This year's event will be held at The Stockyard Inn, with networking and mingling occurring from 6pm to 7pm, followed by a guest speaker and LYP presentations.

This year's guest speaker is Matt Belanger, member of WGAL's '8 On Your Side' investigative team and avid member of Lancaster Young Professionals. Matt is originally from the Susquehanna Valley, and glad to call Central Pennsylvania his home. He graduated from Central York High School and attended Elon University in North Carolina where he earned a bachelor's degree in broadcast communications with a minor in political science.

Throughout the evening, guests will be able to participate in our annual Chinese auction for items donated by LYP's Discount Partners, such as restaurant gift certificates, sports memorabilia, apparel and more. Hors d'oeuvres will be served through the evening and a cash bar will be available. Attendance to this event is free for all members of LYP and only $10 for non-members.
