New Yorkers Will Get FREE Solar-Powered Charging Stations

If you are a New Yorker or are visiting and have a mobile device that is low on power... don't fret, just look for one of these FREE solar-powered charging stations distributed by AT&T.

Starting Tuesday, 25 solar-powered charging stations will sprout in parks, beaches and other outdoor spaces in the five boroughs, part of a pilot project from the wireless provider in partnership with the city. The stations — 12.5-foot steel poles with three petal-shaped solar panels fanning out on top — can accommodate up to six devices at a time regardless of wireless carrier, with dedicated ports for iPhones, Androids, BlackBerrys and standard USB charging cables.

The robotic line of iRobot has been a welcome addition to many homes as cleaning machines and really expensive dog toys... They even made appearances last year in hospitals with the RP-VITA Medical Robot.
Now they are making their way into the office with the AVA-500...

The AVA 500, a semi-autonomous telepresence robot for businesses, packed with Cisco's TelePresence videoconferencing software, and bearing a too-high-to-publish pricetag. Unlike the original AVA, which carried an iPad on top of its skinny neck, the AVA 500 carrier a hefty Cisco EX60 21.5-inch LCD "video endpoint," and is proportioned and styled like an electronic car charging station. The display, which has an HD webcam atop it, can slide between "sitting" and "standing" heights. Primary navigation data is gathered by a Kinect-style sensor.
The AVA 500 can be piloted by manual controls, but the preferred method is obviously the automatic one. You simply use the companion iPad app to select a location in the office, AVA pilots itself there, and notifies you when it arrives. Meanwhile, all the actual communication happens on your computer, through Cisco's video conferencing software.

The latest Mac Pro features new-generation Xeon processors, meaning the new Mac Pro gets double the performance compared to the previous generation. With up to 12 cores of processing power, Apple promises up to 40 GB/s of PCI Express gen 3 bandwidth, and 256-bit-wide-floating point instructions. Mac Pros come installed with 1866 MHz of DDR3 memory, and up to 60 GB/s of memory bandwidth.

Also a first, the new Mac Pro comes standard with dual GPUs — AMD FirePro workstation class GPUs — with up to 6GB of dedicated VRAM. With these graphics, Apple claims you are able to run up to 3 4K displays off of the Mac Pro. And the Mac Pro is expandable through 6 Thunderbolt 2 connections that allow up to 6 devices per port. There are 4 USB 3 ports, 2 gigabit ethernet ports, and HDMI out. Liquid Mammoth Blood Discovered... CLONE IT...!! (4pics)

Remember the post we did two years back on the potential clone of the wooly mammoth...? (Of course you do) Turns out the study and research had their prayers answered when 'flowing' liquid Mammoth blood was discovered in Siberia.

About 15,000 years ago, an old female wooly mammoth plunged through the ice as she was being chased by predators. Her remains have now been uncovered by scientists working in Siberia. And remarkably, as they were digging it out, blood began to stream out. Which is weird given that it was 10° below freezing.
It's not known if the blood or tissue samples contain living cells required for cloning. And even if such cells are recovered, the DNA repair would require a very complex process that could take years. A report is expected later this July.
