The latest LAMBcast is a somewhat special edition, devoted almost entirely to the cult 'hit' The Room. If you've seen the film, you're ahead of the game; if not, it's imperative that you see it as soon as possible; then come back and listen to the podcast (or just listen anyway; you still ought to get a kick out of it). Also, regardless of whether you've seen it or not, enjoy the YouTube clips below; they'll either serve as a fun trip down memory game or a primer for what you're in for.

In it, I was joined by two fellow LAMBs:

LITTLE FALLS, NY (November 3, 2009) – During an impromptu press conference on the steps of City Hall, local movie reviewer “Nolahn” announced that his b-movie review site, the Bargain Bin Review, will publish its 100th review this Friday.

“I’m very pleased,” said the pleased movie reviewer, the Chief Reviewing Officer of “The ‘Bin,” as the site is casually known to those who have actually heard of it. “I know that for many review sites – the sort with lots of funding and free time and a staff that isn’t primarily made up of cats – reaching the 100th review is no big deal. But for The ’Bin, been two years, plugging away each week at bad movie after unspeakably bad movie, so it’s a big deal for us.”

Nolahn wouldn’t say which film would be reviewed for the 100th review, but did hint that it is a “famously bad film” that will likely “make his head hurt.” The site will celebrate the achievement with a 100th Review Spectacular that will spread over two weeks and include a culinary-themed Bin Special, the introduction of a number of new “Friends of The ’Bin” and a State of The ‘Bin Address.

“The next two weeks will feature Very Special Editions of the Bargain Bin Review,” Nolahn shouted over the sounds of jack hammering across the street, “but they won’t be the kind of Very Special Editions where we all learn an important life lesson by the top of the hour -- that is my promise to you!”

Nolahn then opened up the press conference for questions. While Nolahn was asked for spare change, the arrival time of the next bus and the location of the City Treasurer’s office, no questions about the website were posed.

The Bargain Bin Review is a movie review site that has been taking on the kind of films no one else will touch since November 2007. Specifically, the site reviews the kind of obviously terrible straight-to-rental films that clog up the shelves of your local video store. Ultimately, The 'Bin is looking for the best of the best of the worst -- those films that are so monumentally bad that they circle back around to being good fun.

What is the main focus of your site?
At G-S-T, we (myself and my two friends/contributing editors) want to get our thoughts and opinions of our passion for movies out to fellow cinema fans. We hope to reach other like-minded and opinionated “film freaks” out there and maybe post some things/movie info that others may not have known about.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
The blogging efforts of G-S-T are simply hobby based, yet there’s an underlying passion that exists which, if the possibility exists or presents itself (like all bloggers feel, I’m sure), we’d love to do this professionally. Our main focus is just to have fun writing about films we love, why we love them and what new films we can look forward to. Again it’s a hobby - we do it because we love movies!

Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
We’re definitely going for a community feeling here. We don’t claim to be critics or have insider film info, but we have our own opinions about what woks for us and what doesn’t. We’re very interested in meeting and conversing with others who might share our opinions.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
Starting in February of this year, G-S-T has been live for 8 months. We try to post at least one solid update daily, taking the weekends off to catch up on movies for next weeks’ discussions/reviews.

LAMBs in the Director's Chair #4: Steven Soderbergh

Hello to all my fellow LAMB members! I have returned from the grave of the no online access, also known as The Internet Dead Zone, to report that I am officially back up and running again. I would like to offer a huge appreciation for those who have helped me turn installment #3 of the Director's Chair into a huge success. I shall not hinder you any further from finding out more information about our next installment. So, without further ado, especially since I am already a couple of days over due for making the announcement, I would like to proclaim that Steven Soderbergh has been chosen as the focus of the fourth installment of The LAMBs in the Director's Chair event. Poll results; new poll

Just 16% of poll respondents features non-Adsense advertising on their sites; this number seems low to me, though it leaves me with another question that was not asked: why?

So, if you're one of the 40 people that responded 'No,' I ask you: why is it that you don't? Is it from a lack of interest on your part, a lack of interest on the part of potential advertisers, or a combination of the two? Personally speaking, I feature (minimal) advertising on both of my sites, and I believe all of it has been initiated by the advertiser; I'm content to wait for offers to come in - if I like them and their product, great; if not, no sweat off my back.

New poll concerns the LAMB Scroll Box. I'm curious - with it containing just short of400 LAMBs, do you think it serves a purpose still? Though I use it occasionally, I can't say that I use it to do my browsing - I use a feed reader for that. And though it might be great to spread link love to all of the sites contained within it, I've also heard that it's possible that its existence hurts the page ranking of sites that feature it (something to do with links within Javascript and the way Google interprets them). So I ask you - has it run its course or do you find that its held its value?

What is the main focus of your site?
The main focus of my site is probably film reviews, as I do them with the most regularity. I do a fair few lists too though.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
I just enjoy writing and thinking about film, so my blog is basically a place for me to do this unchecked. Also I have the dream of being a screen-writer at some point so my blog gives me place to write regularly. I’d love to blog professionally, but am level headed as to the reality of this. Above all I do it because I enjoy it.

Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
I do tend to veer toward the lecturing side of things, but would welcome feedback and reader inter-action.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
I’ve blogging for about a year now, with maybe a 3 month hiatus in the New Year. These days I post every couple of days or so. At the worst once a week.

I spend large amounts of time surfing for film sites and such, and came across the LAMB on the Blog Cabins website.

Presenting: The Podcast Roundup

Last week, along with the Who Are LAMB? survey announcement (still going on, by the way - if you haven't participated, please do via this link), I put a call out to any and all LAMBs that produce/partake in a podcast. The goal is twofold: 1) promote those sites/people that are doing a podcast and 2) compile a handy, one-stop list (to be published every other week, or every week if popular and full enough) for potential listeners. If nothing else, it was an entirely selfish thought: I'm interested in film/pop culture podcasts, and I'd rather start by listening to the opinions of my fellow LAMBs than just find a random podcast.

What is the main focus of your site?
The subtitle of the site is "Sci-fi, Horror, and General Whoopass." What I cover falls largely under the heading "genre cinema," though I don't always color within those lines. I also lean more toward the seldom-seen and under-reviewed instead of those movies for which you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a review.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
World domination. Duh. Failing that, I hope someday to be considered the expert on movies that no one else has bothered to study, aka "the guy who wasted his life."

Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
If someone can school me back, go for it! (Though I warn you, I've got a degree in English Lit, which means that I'm really good at sounding like I know what I'm talking about.) But an interaction is how I know that people are reading to the end of the reviews, so...

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
The site has been up for ten years, though it spent most of those as a collection of static HTML pages (hand-coded, because I'm old-school). I converted it to WordPress about two years ago. I post one new review per week (outside of announced sabbaticals), with semi-annual "video binge" months of two per week.

To be honest, I don't remember. I've had it bookmarked for a long time as something I need to get to.

I feel like this is a canned answer, but I'm really doing it for myself. I'd be doing it even if weren't online (in fact, I do in numerous capacities.) I just love writing about movies, and eventually when I feel I've seen the amount of movies necessary to write my eBook, I will.

Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
I would love discussions on the films I write about. I've only had a small amount of interactivity though.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
My current site for about three months, but I've had movie blogs in the past dating back to 2006. I update the current site twice a day.

I recently came across a book called 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die, my first thought was to begin watching and reviewing each film on the list, but then I thought it would be much more enjoyable to do this with other reviewers. So I’m attempting to start a club based on this list, the idea is we’d choose a film off the list and everyone would have a week or so to rent the film and review it. I think it would be fun to see everyone’s thoughts a particular film after we all finished watching it. What is the main focus of your site?
Since November 2007, the Bargain Bin Review has been taking on the kind of films no one else will touch. Specifically, the kind of obviously terrible straight-to-rental films that clog up the shelves of your local video store. Ultimately, The 'Bin is looking for the best of the best of the worst -- those films that are so monumentally bad that they circle back around to being good fun.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
In the short term, my goals are pretty modest: To challenge myself as a writer and to slowly grow and evolve The 'Bin over time. I don't see The 'Bin going heavily into commerce in the long term, but I would like to publish a book of my reviews.

Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
I'd definitely prefer an interactive community, and commonly include a poll in the review for readers to chime in to. I also run The Binnie Awards, a special poll-driven piece I do around Oscar time where I allow readers to vote for such awards as "Best Take on the Zombie Genre" and "Movie You Still Can't Believe Is A Real Movie."

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
I launched the Bargain Bin Review in November 2007, and post a new piece every Friday.

My three favorite movies are all way too good to be reviewed at The 'Bin. Three of the more... memorable movies I've covered on The 'Bin are The Dragon Lives Again, Sunday School Musical and My Little Pony: The Movie.

How did you hear about the LAMB?
I had an evening to myself and thought I'd spend it looking around for different ways to get the word about The 'Bin out there. Your site was one of the first to come up, and I quickly realized that LAMB was something I wanted to be part of.

In addition to reviews of obviously bad, straight-to-rental movies and the occasional Bin Special (quasi-related one-off pieces), the Bargain Bin Review also has a couple of recurring features. The script is flipped in Crap Of The Titans: Instead of reviewing terrible movies no one has heard of, The 'Bin takes on terrible movies that everyone has heard of (e.g. Catwoman, Gigli). I've very recently agreed to take on the B-Movie Meatloaf, a bi-monthly round-table started by the guys at Strictly Splatter. And every week, The 'Bin features a choice site/event/Internet sensation as its Link O' The Week.

Who are LAMB? (part III) + some completely unrelated items

A few times over the last two years, I've asked you all to participate in a little demographic study to see who you all were. The results were interesting; click here if you'd like to see them.

Well, I'd like to take the temperature again. I've set up a new poll, updated with some suggestions from those of you that took the survey last time. I've got it set to run for just under a month (ends 11/20), but please, take a minute or two to go do it now. It's really short, non-invasive, and promises to blow your mind! Ok, maybe not. Go take it now!

Hopefully, this poll-taking will get you in the mood...to take more polls! It's been some time since we ran the course of LAMB Top 10s, in which we counted down our favorite movies (overall and in a number of genres - you can look back on what we did here).

Well, it's almost time for the LION awards, where we'll count down 2009's best. In the meantime (after Who are LAMB?), I'd like to kickstart some other Top 10s, from our favorite Directors to Actors to Character Actors to...who knows? Let's get some interesting lists going, shall we?

I'm interested in putting up a weekly or every-other-week post rounding up the various podcasts that you LAMBs produce, in an effort to promote them all a bit more. What is the main focus of your site?
Lots of independent movies, very personal and hopefully entertaining movie reviews.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
To share my very personal thoughts and feelings of the movies I see. So often, I read reviews that all sound the same, because they just talk about the plot and then try to give an "objective opinion". That's an oxymoron and boring to me. I really love when I can see the writer behind a review, what mood he was in when he saw the film. And that's what I am trying to do. It's really more of a movie diary -- my goal being to watch and review one movie a day... for the rest of my life. First and foremost, I am doing this for myself, but it's nice to see that there's people who actually appreciate it.

Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
I'd prefer my blog to be interactive, a place to discuss movies, unfortunately, most of my readers just read quietly, and I have also experienced that most movie bloggers out there aren't really looking to communicate and discuss about movies, cause when I strike up a conversation under one of their posts, it never goes anywhere. It's sad, I think.
