I stumbled across these cute 3D animations over at Drawn! . The quality and detail of the animation is really lovely. This series is aimed at an older market and is called Kajimba. It’s an upcoming 26 part series of short animations featuring creatures from Australia’s outback and the story line has a lot of potential.

The story line:

“Kajimba is a dry and dusty place way out in the middle of Australia, and when we say way out, we’re talking a bloody long way from anywhere. Built right in the middle of all this nothing is the Kajimba hotel, and this is the story of all the folk within.”

The Characters

“While officially classified on government record as uninhabited, Kajimba is the only drinking hole for miles around, so it collects all the lost and thirsty souls who were brave (or stupid) enough to venture out here in the first place. In other words, the beer is cold. Click here to meet some of the characters.”

Bellator is a new Fighting Championship that offers a unique tournament structure with a focus on the fighters. Prior to each fight Bellator showcases the the fighter’s background, strategy and fighting style.

I have to be honest, I was never much into MMA or any sport for that matter but once you get past the shock and awe you begin to see the strategy and technique that each fighter brings to the battle. I find it especially interesting that Bellator features some female fighters in the non-tournament bouts.

Female fighters are a rare breed and many come from a traditional Martial Arts background such as Muay Tai. You can’t help but stop and stare when two women get in the cage to battle it out. (The most well known female fighter is probably Gina Carano who was an American Gladiator on the re-make.)

Last weekend I watched Kerry Vera (wife of UFC light heavyweight Brandon Vera) and Leslie Smith take to the cage. This was the debut MMA fight for both girls. Leslie Smith is a fighting rookie and loves being the underdog. The more experienced Kerry Vera was the winner in what proved to be an exciting fight.

The best part, however, is the sportsmanship and respect that the fighters have for each other. At the end of the fight the two women hugged and were full of smiles proving this sport is more than what you see on the surface.

So having a little fun, I asked the twittersphere, “What if Swine Flu turned people into little piggies?”

Some of the responses were pretty funny:

Piggies? We’d be stuck in some kind of perverse “Spirited Away” alternate reality… not entirely bad - lostangel

we would all say, “Willlowwwwwwww, whillllllll-ooooh” or is that what we would say when Willow was turning us back? - brentlavelle

It would be an instant comic tragedy! - dehlz

Then I could finally become a cannibal with no consequences. - qeek

Then we would be in a science fiction movie :) Would the little piggies be like gremlins? - farhanahmad

LOL. Well then it would be a lot easier to tell who was infected. - justcallmetaz

Weirdly, that’s quite a nice thought :) - mrchambers
