It seems like whenever we have a high school senior session, we uncover their talents and that really opens them up. When we had Emily in the studio, she had not only a guitar but a ukulele! Let it be known, Emily is going places. I was getting ready for the guitar portraits and asked her to play me something on the guitar. Most people would just laugh it off, but Emily started to play…. beautifully I might add…. Stairway to Heaven. At that point, I was impressed. Later on, we had out the ukulele and she started to play Somewhere Over the Rainbow. I was blown away.

Thank you Emily for coming to us for your senior portraits – I am so glad we got to meet you and see your talent.

Charming Ideas to Incorporate into Your Wedding Day | Wedding Photographer, Michigan

Here are some charming ideas to incorporate into your wedding day to make it extra special for those who are nearest to your heart.

Mother
A double frame makes a wonderful gift for your mother. On one side, use a picture of you and your mother when you were a little girl and on the other, a picture of you together on your wedding day—hugging, getting ready together or something like that. For an extra-special touch, have the frame engraved to read, “I’ll always be your little girl.”

Father
If you wear a blusher veil, it is traditional to give it to your father after your wedding day, as a memento of that moment in your lives. A shadow box is a cute way to display this gift, along with a portrait of you walking down the aisle or having your father-daughter dance during the reception.

Fiancé
Secretly do a boudoir portrait session in your bridal lingerie with Sugar & Spice – A boudoir Studio and frame your favorite portrait. Hide it for him to find on your wedding morning with a little love note. This will be a wonderful surprise for him to enjoy that day and for many years to come.

Maid of Honor
A framed portrait of you together on your wedding day with a necklace or a gift card to a spa is the perfect thank you to your maid of honor. Have each bride’s maid sign the sole of your shoe before the ceremony for good luck. Whoever’s name is darkest by the end of the day will be married next.

Best Man
An engraved flask, a box of cigars or a nice set of cufflinks are all thoughtful gestures to give to the best man in your wedding. Be sure to get a portrait of all the groomsmen and the groom doing a toast. This makes a wonderful framed gift to give to each, along with a handwritten thank you card.

Flower Girl
An engraved locket is a wonderful gift for your flower girl. Alternately, a charming music box would also be cherished for years to come. Take a picture with your flower girl, and wait until her wedding day to give it to her, along with a heartfelt message about how proud you are to see her grow into a beautiful woman.

Future Children
Save a few bottles of wine from your wedding (depending on how many children you plan to have) and box each one up with a picture of you and your husband on your wedding day, as well as a heartfelt, handwritten message. This makes a wonderful gift many years down the road on your children’s wedding day.

Anniversary
Save the top tier of your wedding cake and freeze it until your one year anniversary. This makes for a wonderfully romantic memento from your wedding day.

For that big 25, use one of those bottles of wine that you set aside for your kids, if you have extras!

For your 50th, go to the place you were married and renew your vows in front of your closest and most dear family and friends. Be sure to save your shoes, veil and dress, wrapping them in linen and storing them in an airtight, watertight place. If you don’t end up renewing your vows in them, a daughter or granddaughter might love to wear it again.

Ashli Wallenbeck | Calvary Baptist Academy, Midland, MI

Ashli and her gorgeous blue eyes, were referred to us by one of our 2012 Street Teamers, Ben. (Thank you Ben )

We always like to learn about our Street Teamers and how they like to pass the time. This Street Teamer is the creative/sporty type, involved in Drama, basketball and volleyball. But when she isn’t hard at work, she likes to listen to the musical stylings of JJ heller, Pettit Team & Ben Everson.

When asked to describe her personality, Ashli said “I love to have fun. I am sporty but I love to dress up and be girly.”

For Ashli’s session we braved the cold and went to Downtown Midland. The sun was perfect that day (thank you!) Below are a few of our favorites from the day.

Erika Collin | Midland High School, Midland, MI

We first met Erika for a session a couple of years ago. We had so much fun with her then that we invited her back to join the Street Team.

Not only is Erika part of organizations and Photo editor for the Midland High yearbook and Student Council representative, she also participates in some of Anne’s favorite activities, Jazz and Ballet. When she is not busy with her many activities, she enjoys listening to bands like Manchester Orchestra, Band of Horses, The White Stripes, Cake, Best Coast, Animal Collective, Freelance Whales and she has a terrible guilty pleasure of listening to the rapper Childish Gambino. (Don’t worry too much – I like them too )

We asked her to describe her personality she says people describe her as extremely outgoing, bubbly, talkative and loud. She loves to get involved with everything that she can in school. She has a passion for photography and visiting her boyfriend in Traverse City. (Love the Cherry Republic!!)

For her mini-session we decided to venture out in the snow to Chippewa Nature Center. Erika, her mom and I were able to brave the cold and get some fabulous portraits! Please enjoy some of our favorites from the day.

Debora Ferriera | HH Dow High School, Midland, MI

We first met Debora when her sister, Becca, was a Street Teamer with us a couple of years ago. It was so great working with her sister that she couldn’t wait for her turn to be in the LP spotlight.

When Debora isn’t involved with her many activities of soccer, cross country, youth group, National Honors Society, Key Club and Voices of Dow, she enjoys listening to Adele, Death Cab for Cutie, Bed-light For Blue Eyes, Panic! At the Disco, Owl City and Regina Spektor.

We asked her to describe her personality and she said she is very happy and upbeat. She is outgoing and energetic, loves to laugh and said she’s over all a fun person. She says she is sometimes loud and is very expressive. Oh yeah – and she loves the color orange because it reminds her of everything happy.

We decided to take Stratford Park for a mid-winter spin and do her mini-session there. Here are a few of our favorites

Anne and Justin go waaay back! He his her first nephew When not spending time with family, Justin can be found playing his Xbox, listening to his favorite bands Godsmack, Big Sean, Drake, AC/DC, playing basketball, bowling or hunting.

Even though we know Justin quite well, we asked him to describe is own personality. He said he is an outgoing person and nice to everyone. He also said he loves to have fun and that his friends and family say he is funny.

We look forward to having Justin on our Street Team! For his mini-session we had a super-cold day and braved the weather in Downtown Midland.

Kayla Garrett | Pinconning High School, Bay City, MI

We first met Kayla, one of our 2013 Street Teamers, jamming out at the WIOG Lizard Fair this past summer where we were the official photographers.

While shes not dancing and having fun listening to a ton of pop music, this Pinconning High Schooler is involved in poms, soccer, SADD, theatre and choir. Needless to say, she is one busy lady

When asked her to describe herself she said that she is the girl that you hear long before you see her in the hallways. She loves talking, laughing and having a good time and at times can hardly stop laughing when she’s with her friends. In addition, she also LOVES to cook, especially chocolate chip pancakes. Even though her style is considered casual of t-shirt, jeans, hoodie and sneakers she loves to dress up and experiment with new looks.

We met up with Kayla and her parents in Downtown Bay City for her mini-session. She braved the cold weather and totally rocked out the session. Definitely a great addition to the team and we look forward to working with her
