In the reading from NTI today we learn about our attraction to toys.

And we discuss the obvious toys such as iPods, iPhones, iPads, Androids, computers, cars, homes, boats, etc.

But toys are not limited to the objects we envy for possession.

They can also be our bodies.

Before we inhabited our body, it was an idea - a toy if you will. Something we desired and thought of as a solution to solve a problem.

It was valued and most of us currently STILL attribute value to it.

The body is something to enjoy for a little while, until time and our tiring of it turns it into - junk - which we later will discard in a process we commonly call death.

There is nothing wrong with playing with toys. But we must remember that we are not our toys - and we are not our bodies.

We are a timeless, ageless, spiritual being having a bodily experience.

In outer space there is no concept of time unless you have a timepiece or clock. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow are words that are interchangeable with now and the dream of not now.

It is only the rotation of the planet that seems to cause the experience of time passing (i.e night and day, a yesterday, today, and tomorrow).

With no planet or timepiece as a reference, we have nothing to measure time with. The concept of time without a reference is meaningless.

Therefore time is the looking at now and the dream of not now.

Since we only know -now- and -not now- is only a dream, we can use now as a tool to listen to what remembers the dream of -not now- perfectly and can provide us with perfect information as to our course of action - whatever that may be.

We need only shut-up and listen.

It is very hard to listen when we are talking. So quieting the mind is probably a good idea - agreed?

If we look at the thought behind judgement we see a decision in the mind that something is wrong - something needs to be changed. In other words, there is a belief that all is not right.

If we look at the thought behind prayer - the kind that sees a problem and asks God for a solution - we see the same thing. We see a thought that sees something as wrong and something needs to be changed.

In this way, Judgment and prayer are the same.

However, when we look at True Prayer we see that acceptance is prevalent.

Acceptance of everything as whole and perfect as it is without any need for change IS True Prayer.

Asking for something to be different is simply judgment disguised as prayer.

What is True Prayer?

A Course in Miracles describes prayer not as a time when we ask or beg for something, but instead of a time when we cease all asking and give to God our wants, hopes, and desires.

Does this mean that giving to God our wants, hopes, and desires means we are asking for God to give us those things?

No, it does not.

It means, we release our wants, hopes, and desires as our gift to God and Holy Spirit (aka Christ) and He will heal our misperceptions.

Our misperceptions are a result of mistaken beliefs that we are something we are not - a human having a spiritual experience.

But in Truth, we are a spiritual being having a human experience.

And human experiences are the result of mistaken beliefs which bring about misperceptions.

Accepting all things as Whole and Perfect can be achieved via the quieting of the mind - the ceasing of our wants, hopes, and desires.

So, although we may have wants, hopes, and desires for a better life, (i.e. more money, a meaningful relationship, a new car - whatever) in reality we already have everything we could ever want.

Why?

Because we ARE Everything.

When you are on the path to awakening, it is very easy to wander off the path without knowing you have left.

This happened to me this past week.

It was so easy to see that someone else would be much better off if they would only do XYZ or change ABC about themselves.

In another instance, I could see that they could have saved time if they would have only done it my way instead of the way they were doing it.

But these diversions are only time wasters and not road blocks. We need only recognize that we are making judgements and then immediately release our insistence on being right and Peace returns to our awareness.

In each and every case, it was my choice to be right instead of allowing what was unfolding to take the natural course.

I guess it really is easier to allow a cart to roll downhill than to push it uphill against gravity - but sometimes I seem to believe I know which direction the cart should go and how fast it should fall. Silly me.

Release and let go. That is all that is necessary. Everything else will fall into place perfectly.

Here they are:

We trust everyone is led by unique inner guidance to one experience, called awakening, which is realization of one true Self.

When I heard about this, I recognized it as a step towards the reunification of the sonship - and I immediately embraced it.

Who is doing this thinking? Is it the one who believes it is separate from the Whole or is it the Whole? And how can we know the difference?

I have learned that if I thought about it, then it is not from the Whole. It is only PART of the Whole and therefore does not and cannot know Everything - it can only know part of Everything and is subject to error.

So as crazy as it sounds, I am also learning that letting go of -self- or the part that believes it is NOT the Whole is actually in my best interest.

And so we must choose.

Do we choose to listen to inspiration and regard it as Truth or do we choose to listen to our interpretation of it?

This came to me a few nights ago:

"YOU MUST MAKE A COVENANT WITH TRUTH!"
"You must accept the truth as true no matter if you believe it or not."
"Remember the truth is a constant and you are a variable."
"One cannot be molded into a beacon of light as long as one insists on being right."
"Since you currently believe the truth is open to your interpretation of it, you must be made malleable by truth to be formed into a vessel for truth to live and love. You cannot do this while you insist on being right. You must be shown the way and you will only see the path to peace once your eyes are open to the accept truth and you lay down your flashlight of projections you currently hold on to."
"Your beliefs get in the way. Your beliefs take up room in your heart and must be set aside in order for there to be space for truth to live in you."
"Therefore live this: YOU KNOW NOTHING!. You are an open vessel for truth to live and for truth to love."
"Doing so will allow you to release the curtain you are holding up with your tired arms that seems to be separating you from seeing and experiencing truth."

And so, I relax my tired arms that were holding the veil of forgetfulness and I allow Truth to be my mentor.

For me, the key word in the retreat title is "intimate." I can feel that this particular weekend will be a truly intimate experience, not with me, but with clarity, wisdom and inner realizing.

The format for this retreat is open. The organizers are willing to plan nothing and let the entire retreat be spontaneous. This idea scares some people, because they believe that without planning nothing meaningful will happen, but I assure you it is exactly the opposite. If we show up with no plan at all and with openness for a meaningful and lasting shift to occur, everything we need for an incredibly meaningful retreat will be given in the moment. Today we look at a phrase that came to me last night before going to bed:

"One cannot be happy playing to win the game of life on this planet. The only way to be happy is to not play the game at all. Instead, simply watch and observe with no attachment to the outcome. Then and only then will you be happy."

Beneath the emotions of love, hate, happiness, sorry, ecstasy, pain, and a plethora of other descriptions of experiences that we sometimes have in this physical life, lives a silent, peaceful, and never changing watcher.

This watcher lives outside of time. It lives outside of our experiences and lives in a constant state of observing.

The peaceful watcher can be accessed during what appears to be chaos and turmoil experiences while in this ever changing illusion known as the physical.

The physical is constantly changing - in fact, the only thing that is constant about the physical is change. There is nothing in this physical that will be the same later - nothing.

Everything dies, everything decays, everything won is lost again. As Dov Fishman writes - All winners will eventually become losers.

But the Watcher is a constant through the game and does not pick sides. Only the ego picks sides. And this is where pain and misery come from - the attachment of a particular outcome tied to our happiness.

When we say to ourselves - I will be happy when XYZ happen, what we are saying is that we are not happy now but we will be happy later when the physical becomes a certain way.

This is a thought system that is sure to cause unhappiness - because the physical is NEVER constant and WILL change. Thus if we tie our happiness to the shift and change, we will NOT be happy.

However, we CAN choose happiness regardless of the current state of the ever changing physical.

And THAT is the key to everlasting freedom from pain and misery, and thus delivery into peace.

So armed with this information we can now re-interpret the phrase that came to me last night:

"One cannot be happy playing to win the game of life on this planet. The game of life can only be won for a little while - and therefore you will only be happy for a little while. The only way to be permanently happy is to not play the game with any seriousness at all. Instead, simply watch and observe the game with no attachment to any outcome. Then and only then will you be happy."

We seem to be hearing two different voices.

One is the voice of thinking - the voice that is worried about tomorrow or regrets the past.

There is another voice. And this voice only speaks of now. It never speaks of tomorrow or yesterday - only now.

In fact, it can ONLY speak about now because it only knows now. But what it knows about now is everything.

And that is something that the thinking mind does not have access to. The thinking mind never speaks about now. It only knows what it fears or regrets. And it only has access to what it thinks about things.

Never does it have access to reality. Instead, it only projects what it thinks about reality and offers that as psuedo-knowledge.

It is possible to listen to only the voice of now - but it requires practice. It requires that you ignore the voice that is worried about tomorrow. It requires that you do not regret anything about the past.

It requires that you listen to what is and ignore what is not.

It requires that you only care about what is real - which is and has always been --- now!

There are only 3 possibilities with regards to credit of your authorship.

Either you made yourself or something else made you.

If you made yourself, then responsibility for everything is yours - and fear and guilt are an inevitable outcome eventually.

If something else made you, either it was random chance, or an intelligence that can make that claim.

If it was random chance, then there is no Love, there is no commitment, there is no decision you could EVER make that would mean anything since everything would be temporal and of no constance.

But if it was an intelligence that made you, your path to peace and the awareness of your Oneness with your Creator is certain only delayed by how you use the tools that were given to you by your Creator.

Self-Inquiry will eventually chip away all of the false ideas you have about yourself and reveal your True Nature.

Only the Truth is True - and Truth can withstand all interrogations.

When we are criticized by others, it is an excellent opportunity to practice awakening from the dream.

What is our reaction when we hear criticism? Do we thank them? Are we angry? Do we judge that they are wrong and we are right?

What if it doesn't matter? What if it is simply an experience that has nothing to do with what or who we are?

There is a Peace that exists within each and every one of us and can observe any situation we may experience in this dream-illusion.

Once we identify with that Peace, it becomes our Guiding Light to help us through any experience we may face on this planet.

And thus becomes the tool we use to awaken from the dream.

It may seem strange to think of our shoes, or the ground that we walk on, or even the planet as alive, but it is true.

The book I am currently reading is entitled The Convoluted Universe - Book Three by Dolores Cannon.

In this book, she describes a client who was hypnotized and remembered a lifetime where she was a rock - certainly a life much different from our human existence!

In another session, a completely different client remembered a life where she was a robot - created by a very tall being with no feelings. Upon traversing backwards in time, she realized that SHE was one of those beings originally and had incarnated as one of the robots in order to experience the effects of her creation.

Strange indeed!

These two examples are extreme cases of Spirit being able to experience life as anything - including what we would normally consider to be non-living objects.

But is it really so strange to imagine being something other than human? Did our Creator make humans and declare them above everything else? Or did our Creator make everything the equal?

In some biblical teachings, there is a differentiation between man and animals. But in ACIM, and many eastern teachings, there is no differentiation.

It is my current belief and understanding that being human is just another experience. And the only thing that makes it APPEAR to be above something else is our judgement of what we have declared as NOT us.

Ultimately, it boils down to belief - and can only be answered by going within. No amount of logic will find the answer since all of this is abstract anyway.

But my belief is that Everything IS alive. And I give thanks to the shoes that I wear, the ground I walk upon, and the air that I breathe.

Of course not!

The thinking mind is busy making scripts.

What the heck does that mean?

It means, it is busy thinking about any time but now. It is thinking about what was for supper last night, or what is going to happen tomorrow. Or it is thinking about what is coming up next - which is a favorite for television.

When one is totally and completely in the now, there are no thoughts about yesterday or tomorrow. There is only the present moment.

One of the things that was an 'ah ha' moment for me was when I realized-remembered that the past and the future were happening in the now.

What this means for us is that we can forgive in the present moment and erase the past and collapse the future.

The Course tells us that forgiveness collapses time. What does that mean?

It simply means that when we forgive things we perceive to have been wrong in the past (or even if it appears to be happening in the present moment), we collapse any future events that may have resulted from the decisions we made about the past event.

For instance, when we judge someone as 'evil', the law of Karma (which is nothing more than self-judgement), dictates that we will experience scenarios in the future that will attempt to 'prove' we are right about our judgements.

But when we forgive that so called -evil- person, those events do not have to happen. We are released from our self-imposed ball and chain.

Forgiveness now saves lifetimes later - literally works BECAUSE everything (both the past AND the future) are happening RIGHT NOW.

So, for this Christmas, give the gift that keeps on giving - forgiveness for your self and for everyone in the only time that it can be given - RIGHT NOW!

The path to peace, or whatever you want to call it - be it awakening, enlightenment, Truth, or even Oneness, is very well marked with signs that simply have one simple word on them - SURRENDER.

The signs do not say WHAT to surrender, nor do they specify HOW MUCH or what EXCEPTIONS should be considered.

Instead, these signs gently suggest a course of action that involves what some are not yet ready to do - give up insisting on being right.

Insisting on being right also includes the idea that you know what is best for you. It also includes ALL beliefs.

But if we open our mind up to the possibility that we do NOT know what is best for us, we might see a glimmer of light that shows us that what we have thrown out may actually be of IMMENSE value.

What if... just WHAT IF that which we CLAIM to NOT be is actually conspiring to make us happy? How would we even know if it was doing that without giving up our insistence on being right about what we THINK it is?

We would have to relinquish judgment about it, of course. We would have to give up our thinking. We would have to give up our beliefs.

But if we take that course of action to the ultimate step of letting go of everything, we see that eventually we experience EVERYTHING as ONE - because there is no little self that believes it exists apart from the whole. In essence, we then experience holiness completely. We are holy.

And this step, which we ALL will eventually take - no matter how long it takes will free us to dream the happy dream of knowing we ARE one and sharing each other completely.

The way we perceive the world is influenced by the thoughts we listen to in our mind.

If we listen to the thoughts that say this is a cruel world, a meaningless world, a world with no purpose - then that is the experience we will have. We will have the experience of seeing the world as that - cruel, meaningless, no purpose etc.

But if we can look at the world with no preconceived thoughts about it - in other words without prejudice, we will see the world for what it truly is. It is simply illusion projected by the mind placed upon everything in response to our beliefs.

Can you see anything as it truly is? Or are you helplessly listening to thoughts ignoring Truth?

Sitting quietly without thoughts - or repeating a mantra such as -I Am That I Am- can help us see and experience Truth.

Enjoy Everything - because it is alive - and It is You!

When I was starting out as a young recording engineer - and even before then, I learned how to know the workings of audio gear even though I had never seen or used it before.

The trick was to not think I knew what it was. In other words, I did not pre-judge it as being anything other than what it was.

This allowed True Knowledge to enter my awareness and I was able to know what the device was and how to use it even though I had never used it before.

This is the same thing as what the NTI lesson says to do - simply allow whatever is to be and do not judge it.

Do not try to insist on being right and try to tell the device you THINK you know what it does - instead rest your eyes on it and allow it to TELL you what it is.

This is the way to TRUE KNOWLEDGE. And it involves giving up the insistence upon being right.

It also involves giving up thinking and instead allowing intuition to flow through your existence - making you aware of it.

Thinking always happens AFTER the event. And intuition is simply allowing the flow of information from the Source through the channel or the empty shell.

As long as our hands are full with judgements of our brothers as being guilty, we cannot fill them with the Truth that they are innocent.

And as we judge our brothers as guilty, we judge ourselves as guilty - since we and our brothers are One.

Therefore, the key to awakening and remembering the Truth of Who We Are is hidden under the paint of guilt we have poured upon our brother - and simultaneously because We Are One, upon the awareness of the Truth of ourselves.

When we experience fear, do we stop and look within to what is causing it? Or are we so afraid that we dare not look there?

I have found that by trusting my willingness I can eleviate the fear. How does this happen? It happens because I am trusting a higher power for my experience instead of insisting that I know what is best for me.

In other words, by trusting my willingness, only what is best for me comes. And I release my hidden desire to be in control.

What a strange thing it is to be so confused that we no longer realize WE are cause and believe that effects control us.

But thankfully, Truth cannot be hidden forever. We will eventually remember that cause does not live outside of us. And fear cannot bind the Son in any way except via illusion while He temporarily believes the insane thought that He could somehow NOT be everything.

Remember, too, that there is no judgement in the world. There is only judgement in the mind.

Therefore, look upon everyone you perceive as outside of yourself and see them as your Savior - which they are. They ARE the Christ!

And within them is a vision of your complete wholeness and sinlessness. Your vision of your perfection is revealed to you when you look upon your brother with the eyes of Christ and release them from your bonds of judgement.

The Peace of God awaits your decision to return home through your willingness.

Today we read a set of lessons discussing the idea of letting go of our attachments to all that we value in this illusory dream world we currently call reality.

The value we place upon Planet Earth, the seemingly real people in it, the unbelievable turmoil, atrocities and even small pleasures are diversions from awakening.

Even those individuals we seem unable to live without - including pets, mother, father, children, grand-children, and material possessions, serve to imprison us within the illusory dream.

How long will we be attracted to the false? Are we ready to let go of ALL of our attachments so that we can awaken to the Truth of who we Truly are?

That which you value in the dream, binds you to the dream.

So hold onto nothing - and you will naturally fall back to Truth. There is no where else to fall.

Once we realize that the experience we seem to be having currently is merely an illusion of separation from Oneness - an impossible thing for sure - we can tackle the seemingly impossible task of releasing the self that believes it is separate from the Oneness.

Since there is only Oneness, and since twoness is only an illusion, it must follow that any -self- that believes it is separate from the Oneness cannot be true. It MUST be illusion.

Therefore, to release the concept that we could possibly exist separate from the Oneness that is Everything is a seemingly illusory task of letting go of something that simply does not exist.

In other words, letting go of self can only lead to an awakening experience back to the Oneness that IS Everything - the mind awakens and returns to sanity.

This illusory world of separation, including the idea of a self that exists apart from All that Is, must be let go of in order to remember the Truth of Who we Are - the One Infinite Son of God.

Forgive your brother for what he has not done - forgive your self for you have done nothing.

Walk Through The Valley of Fear with God.

Today we look at what we have been avoiding - fear.

NTI shows us in 2nd Timothy Chapters 2 and 3 that when we fear something, we are actually preventing ourselves from seeing the Truth that lives beyond the fear.

Since most of us fear what lives beyond fear as WORSE than fear, we constantly avoid fear - never experiencing what comes next.

Today's lesson explains a process where fear is allowed to present everything it has to offer to us - then we simply allow it to wash over us (i.e. experience it) and then see what comes next.

What we find is that an undeniable, encompassing, all pervasive Peace is the inevitable result of allowing fear to pass without resistance.

Hold onto nothing - Eckhart Tolle says. And I believe this holds true for when we are in the grips of fear.

DARE fear to be more than what it appears to be - it can only provide a temporary experience. It can never be YOU! And it will ALWAYS pass.

Today we read from NTI 1st Timothy Chapter 2.

In the reading, it mentions that within our current experience, it appears as if we are but a speck in a tapestry of colors which is everything that is something OTHER than us.

The speck appears to be all that we are because we believe the lie that thinking presents to us - which is only that which our eyes see and our thinking thinks.

But experience has already shown us that our eyes can be deceived. And time will eventually show us that our thinking can be deceived also.

When we look into physical matter closely, we see that at first there appears to be atoms, electrons, and protons.

But science is now showing us that in fact, there are no atoms, electrons, or protons. Instead, what we find is that there is only vibration within something that appears to be a fluid like substance.

All matter is merely vibration - have you heard this before?

Literally, our thoughts are collapsing wave potential into physical matter right before our very eyes - and our beliefs make it appear to be real to us.

There is no world!

ACIM has been saying this since Helen Schucman channeled it during the period spanning from 1965 - 1972. And we read this phrase over and over and it makes no sense to our logical mind.

If only we could suspend our judgment of it being UNtrue long enough for the light to shine into our awareness and show us that there truly IS no world! It is merely vibration within a fluid made to appear as real conforming to our belief system.

Clearly we must be willing to give up our thoughts about this world in order to see the matrix beneath the illusion that our thoughts appear to be making if we are to awaken to the Truth of who we are.

Today we also read from a new book I received from Irene A. Cohen MD entitled "Soul Journey To Love".

My favorite quote from the Day 1 reading is "Be vigilant about your thoughts, observe them, be loving toward them and let them go".

Notice it states to love them.

Love all things - even your thoughts. But do not believe them - simply let them go.

The ego cannot listen to the following statement without adding an exception:

Everything is Perfect - All The Time.

But if we listen to the Holy Spirit - the voice that whispers to us constantly, we will hear that phrase as True with no exceptions.

How can it be that everything is perfect all the time?

We can only experience each moment as perfect when we are willing to suspend all judgements and expectations.

Our expectations paint a picture of the present moment as something that could be improved. Our judgments paint the present moment as something that is unacceptable.

But just exactly what does unacceptable mean?

It means that we are not willing to accept the present moment and prefer something else.

But what is forgiveness but acceptance?

So in order to experience the present moment AS perfect, we must first be willing to forgive EVERYTHING and accept EVERYTHING as perfect for us - right now with no exceptions.

Once we are willing to suspend judgement and accept what IS as perfect, we will have the experience that everything TRULY IS perfect.

It seems so simple. And it IS simple. But to believe it and to put it into action in everything we do can appear to be unattainable.

But the only reason we believe it is unattainable is because we believe it to be unattainable. We need only be willing to be wrong in order to be shown that love truly IS everything.

Are you willing to give up your insistence on being right? Are you willing to drop your daggers and put down your swords so that you may remove the cloak and masks you have put upon the face of Christ?

If you are, you are ready to experience Peace - beyond anything you can currently imagine.
