Well, Saturday night at the Nail was much better than expected. It’s always a crap shoot in spring whether or not people will come out. Thankfully, there were a lot of you, and you stuck around for most of the night! We had a blast, it was great to see a bunch of folks from up that way come out and enjoy the rain! Thanks to the girls at subway and the mini mart for taking care of dinner for us, and getting the nail the ones and fives that they needed!

Some more new gigs to talk about, one that’s coming up fast – a fundraiser for the Vermont lady hoopsters elite! The 9^th grade AAU basketball team won states, and is going to nationals. They are raising funds to travel to Florida to do so, and have asked LKP to be the music for their fundraiser. Long-time friend Heather Perkins is the coach, and has asked us to join them in Hyde Park to play Friday June 3 from 8 to midnight at the Hyde Park VFW. This is open to all, but tickets are limited due to space. The event is asking $18 per person. Please come show your support for some young athletes who are doing great and need a little dough to make the next step of the trip happen. This weekend we start our newest room in Rangeley, Maine. This one is a haul for most of you, but I hope some of our Maine regulars will make the trip for their opening night with LKP! This should be a blast, and we might even get some new shoes out of the deal! Come dance and bowl, yes, bowl at Moose Alley! We’ll have a full update for all as to how much fun this new room is, and get the tour bus loaded for the next time up! Saturday is back to Whippersnappers, and it sounds like it might actually be sunny! Never can tell, but maybe some folks can get the two wheelers out and have some fun after all this rain.

Friday morning quarterback again! Last weekend was a private party, so I skipped my weekly duties and didn’t do a newsletter. We’re back, and better than ever, or whatever that line is… schedule updates should be on the website in the next day or so, and include dates through December, so get ready for a great 2011, and we’ll see where things go! Lots of fun parties, summer events and weddings, so we’ll be all over the map with some new rooms, some old faves, and some wild events, so keep your eyes and ears open!

First of all, thanks to Jan for a fantastic birthday party! We always have to reduce the size of the PA when we do a party in a living room, but this one ROCKED! Thanks to all who came, and we hope you had as much fun as we did! Let’s do it again next year! This weekend has us in Barre tonight, and off tomorrow. April always seems like a transition month between ski and summer, so we tend to do fewer gigs this time of year and recharge the batteries. Maybe we should plan some events for April and early October to fill in the lull. Put that on the back burner and let it simmer. Next weekend is a double shot in one day! Friday is off, unless someone books us last minute, and then Saturday we’re playing from 1 to 3 at Buzzard’s ride in Hooksett at the American Legion. Ride leaves at 11, and gets back around 1:30. For more info on the ride, etc. go to www.buzzardsridenh.org. we’ll be there playing our set from 1 to 3, and then pack up and head over to Whippersnappers to set up for the night. We hope that the bikes just head down and have some fun with us in the evening once the ride is over. Come one come all and support a great cause.

As summer comes, we’ll be hitting a number of nights during bike week, adding a stop in Rangeley, ME for you folks up north, and getting our hands back in at the Brimmer in Manchester, so keep your heads up for some great events this summer! Hope all is well and check out the awards!

The holy &^%( award goes to college band bassist Jon Bon Roberts for showing up at the last show of the season at the Matterhorn. Wow. Where did you come from!? We hope you had fun, and I think we actually play one or two songs from that far back, and we’ll get you up next time!

The gravity award goes to the Jager girls for tearing up the stage, and almost causing a riot! Too much fun, and almost too much to clean up!

The bouncer award goes to Patrice for hopping the rail and taking control!

The best setup for a house party goes to Jan for clearing the living room and letting the house ROCK!

And the narcolepsy award goes to Jan as well for taking a nap when needed!

So, ever have one of those weekends where everything is sweet! Weather on Friday made for us thinking that spring was well on the way, and the crowds were out in Londonderry. We saw a lot of familiar faces, but continue to see new ones out as you boys and girls come out to check on the new lineup. We’re having a blast with a lot of new songs, and more fun than a barrel full of monkeys. Friday quickly became Saturday, and we headed north to Maine for the next to last installment at the Matterhorn. I was a little worried when we started because it was a bit quiet in comparison, but things quickly picked up and a regular nutty night attacked us as usual! School girl Saturday was great as usual, but it seemed like the desire of the staff was lacking in comparison to 80’s night. Maybe a couple of new themes will bring back the energy.

This weekend we’ll be hitting the slopes at Jay peak on Friday, and Stowe on Saturday. This will be our last gig at D’Cota’s for a while. It sounds like they’re closing down the bar for mud season, at least when it comes to bands, and will be back up for the summer. More on this as I know more. We’re putting out the call to all Newportians and Derbyites to get your buns to Jay and fire it up for this Friday night! Saturday puts us back in Stowe, and the schedule at the Rusty Nail is up in the air for the end of the season as well. the April 9 date that is on the calendar is probably a no go, but depending on snow, we may just sneak back over there a bit later in the month if the skiing is still there. We’ll let you know!

The MacGyver award goes to me! Fixing stuff on Saturday took us from a haze free night to smoke filled. I love it when stuff can be fixed on the fly!

The die-hard award goes to Cheryl and Kristin for 3 out of 4 gigs in 2 weeks. You guys are NUTS! But we love you for it.

The newbie award goes to Malorie, Katherine, Chau and Mia for kicking off their first LKP show with a bang, and we hope you come back for more fun!

The party like a rock star award goes to Never in Vegas – they were playing up the road in Sunday River, and came down to play with us after they were done. Trays of shots and some hijinks later, we didn’t see them at the end of the night. I guess we should have told the bouncers they were friends of ours so they wouldn’t throw them out! Too much fun and too funny. You boys are great and out of your minds in a good way! See you when we play next door to each other!

Well, the first weekend with Mark and Keith was a blast! We discovered that the latest new addition at Gusto’s is a new smoke detector setup that renders our haze machine off, since it sets off the alarms! Our apologies to the Barre fire department. We thank them for their prompt response and allowing us to get back to playing as soon as possible! What a way to start off the night. After that, the rest of the weekend forged on as the rest of the time at Gusto’s was a blast, and we rolled it into Saturday night at the Matterhorn! What a great crowd, great show and great energy! The staff and fans outdid themselves this weekend with a ton of fun and a great reason to do a repeat of the exact same gigs on march 4^th and 5^th! Get ready boys and girls, we’re gonna do it all again!

This weekend has us returning to the scene of the crime at the Rusty Nail in Stowe. The last time we were there, we broke the record for craziness on Saturday night. It was so much fun, everyone decided to do it all again this weekend. So, tonight and tomorrow will be another double shot at the Nail! Please let the snow run its course, and then come to the hottest place in Vermont! We’ll be doing more giveaways tonight and tomorrow, and hope that you all can make it out for another fantastic weekend. Last weekend was a blast at the Wobbly. Two great nights, and a bunch of fun with some fantastic crowds and good times had by all. It has been a rough one with all the snow, and then a dead computer to add insult to injury. Sorry I didn’t get an email out to all of you last week, I was still retrieving stuff off of the old laptop and adding it to the new laptop. Thanks to windows mail for making that so easy – NOT!

With that in mind, I have recompiled the email list. Now, with that out of the way, we had a blast at Whips and the Matterhorn this past weekend. It was so great to see some of the Maine regulars back, and we’re so happy to see you again! Don’t be a stranger! We want a fantastic winter with lots of repeats, and we’ll try to make it so you don’t get sick of us! Many thanks to Michelle, Mark and the whole crew at Whips, and Greg, Becca, Roger and Patrice at the Matterhorn for always making us feel special!

This weekend is a rare double shot at the Rusty Nail. Fridays are usually few and far between, and gigs back to back are even more infrequent, so we’re doing some special locals party thing for our regulars from NH and VT that come to see us at the Nail. Friday night will have some giveaways of LKP gear, and who knows what else will happen! We’re trying to show that two nights at the nail can be a regular thing, so come out Friday and show support, and then come back Saturday and add to the madness! We need to send out our special thanks to the folks at Baker distributors for helping out with the radio advertising, and very special thanks to TnT for making it all happen. Tiff and Tarin are getting the word out in Stowe, and we are awed by your energy and your greatness! We bow in your presence!

What a great new year's eve! I hope that everyone had a safe and happy holiday. My apologies to anyone who came up to see us Saturday night only to discover that we had played the happy hour and there were a slew of dj's mixing for the evening. If you came up, come back on February 11 and 12 and we'll definitely take care of you at the Wobbly! Thanks to the fantastic staff for taking such great care of us.

This week has us back in Manchester at the Derryfield on Friday, and returning to the Matterhorn for our first gig at Sunday river this season! We're looking forward to both, and hope that all y'all come out to have a blast with us.

On a sad note, after almost 10 years, the Benning street Bar and Grill and Electra Nightclub closed their doors Christmas weekend. We're sorry to see the club go, and hope that we'll be finding a new place to play in the upper valley. We'll just have to see what happens, and I hope that we'll be back playing somewhere in west leb/ white river soon!

The gorilla foot award goes to Kyle for bustin' his bass drum pedal mid gig on Friday night.

The "I didn't go to Cambridge either" award goes to the zipperhead that thought that it was a good idea to question someone's education while standing there in a sweater that his mother obviously picked out for him. Hey, I didn't know they let you wear garanimals at Cambridge, either!

The best hair award goes to MC Theo. If I did a 'do like that, it would look like a pack of hairy hot dogs on the back of my head!

Another year has come to an end. the time to wax nostalgic is here, and I hope that everyone's 2010 was a great one and that 2011 holds some interesting times and fun for us all! As we rapidly approach the beginning of our 15th year, I have to say it's been a good run! Thanks to all the past members for their time and effort, and I hope that your current projects are keeping you happy and enjoying what I consider to be the greatest job in the world. We all get to "work" on a stage in front of people, and get paid to be at a party. Who can complain! With that being said, we look at 2011 as another time of transition, and hope that our search for a new drummer finds a happy fit to the fun group of kids that we try to be. Special thanks to Kyle for filling the drum seat in the interim until we get a more permanent replacement. Auditions will start in the next couple weeks, so all drummers, this is an open call to have fun, make some coin, and have a weekend off here and there. All serious animals should contact me at my email address below, or my cell phone and we'll set up an audition!

With NYE upon us, we'll be rocking the Wobbly tonight and tomorrow, but the schedule has changed a bit. We will be playing après ski this afternoon in addition to the new years eve show tonight, so come early and watch us play some different stuff, and hammer through some tunes we haven't done in a while! While I thought tomorrow was going to be us as the recovery party, we will again be doing the après ski from 5 to 7:30pm, and then there will be a national act taking the stage at the Wobbly! I have heard too many rumors, so I can't say exactly what or who it will be. Redman, Method man, Bomb squad, not sure, but we'll be doing the après, and then hanging to see what's up after that! For those of you that were planning on the recovery party, please come and recover with us, and we'll all hang out together!

Next weekend has us returning to the Derryfield and our first gig back at the Matterhorn in Sunday River, so get ready!

This past weekend was a blast. Thanks to the Rusty Nail for opening back up and all of you for coming out! What a great night, and all the improvements to the club are looking great! I guess I'll break my arm patting myself on the back since Jason and I put in the new sound system and light show! Now it makes my light show look dated, so look for improvements on that end in the near future! Thanks to Tiff, Kate and all the staff for making the return to the Nail a great one. We'll see you throughout ski season and the rest of the year!

Saturday was the Ben and Jerry's holiday party, and for the first time that we've done it, it was all of the different locations! Like 650 people and a great time! great to see you Wilbur! Nice surprise to see some familiar faces, Jules! Special thanks to Kim for having us back, it was a great time!

This weekend, we are back at Gusto's tonight in Barre, and we'll be hitting the stage at D'Cota's in Jay, VT on Saturday. On a sad note, owner of D'Cota's, and all around great guy Del Cota passed away a little over a week ago. We were totally saddened to hear of his passing, and I was glad I got the chance to sit and hang out with him at the end of the night the last time we were up there. We'll raise a glass on Saturday, and toast the fond memories of a kind man. The short time that we got to know him was fun filled, and we hope that the rest of the family and staff will accept our hugs and heartfelt condolences.

Christmas is coming, so don't forget all those gifts, and Christmas cheer to go around. Remember to drive safely, and if you decide to create your own lane, and try to cut me off, I will stay in front of you, and make you feel like a schmuck. So, turn off your high beams, remember that you were the one that doesn't know how to drive, and you deserve the coal in your stocking.

With Justin's announcement that he was giving his notice, we have decided to ask Kyle to come back and cover until a new drummer is chosen. So, good friend and skin slapper Kyle Flewz will be back on the throne until we have a new animal behind the kit. Come out and say hey, and make his return a comfortable one! As mentioned, we will be accepting applications for new drummers in the next few weeks, and be starting auditions in January. Let any drummer who likes to play about 80 or so nights a year, travel about a 3 to 4 hour radius from Manchester, and is a team player who likes lots of lights, and a variety of fun gigs, know and we'll get them the information and schedule an audition.

Last weekend we did a benefit for Jennie, and hopefully raised some funds and helped her out. Thanks to Matt Langley from Root 3 for playing, and Kyle and Mike for coming back and sitting in. We had a blast, and hope that all had a great time.

We'll start some awards after this weekend, and get back on a regular schedule!

due to a large party in the function room, the Derryfield has decided to go with a dj this evening to keep the levels down and allow their function's band to not have another band blasting down the hall. I hope that this does not inconvenience any of you who were planning on coming out tonight. the Derryfield will be open with a dj, or you'll just have to head to another location for live music!

Saturday night from 5 to 10, we will be donating our time to support our friend Jennie Lamanuzzi in her fight against lymphoma. the event is being held at the Gunstock Inn, and will feature Matt from Route 3, LKP, and who knows who else may show up! please come by and support a great cause if you're in the area and would like to help out. we hope to see you all there.

in other sad news, the transition situation with LKP is back on. Justin has given his notice on drums, due to the travel schedule. so, we are looking for another drummer to fill the seat. auditions will begin as soon as possible to fill the chair with someone who likes to play 80 to 100 gigs a year; play within an approximate 4 hour radius of Manchester, NH; has a good team attitude for setting up, tearing down and performing in a band with a large light show and PA; enjoys playing a wide variety of music with medleys and lyric changes being a must. any and all serious applicants should contact me either at john@lastkidpicked.com, or 603-359-5999. we will be taking our time on this one and getting it right. please get the word out to any drummers you know that might be interested. practice schedule is usually once a week once everyone is up to speed, and practice and auditions will be held at my house in Belmont, NH. get the word out and let me know!

Well Halloween weekend was a success! We had a great time with all the fun folks at the Cannon mountain view, and the large numbers made the temps in the tent stay up in the reasonable range! The load out was a bit cold though! Great costumes all around, we just loved you gangsters, firewomen and Rasta's! We're looking forward to the gigs coming up as we hone in on things in the band and add a bunch of new material.

This weekend, we are off tonight, and then head north to Jay, VT. with no current gig in Newport, this is as close as we get for all you northern Newportians! Head over to D'Cota's with us on Saturday night and have a blast! For those not familiar, it's the former Dirty Sally's I believe. We'll be cranking it out from 9 to 1 so come early and have a blast!

Also, we'll be playing an early set at the benefit at Whippersnappers in Londonderry, NH on Sunday. I believe our start time is around 5 or shortly after. Come support a great cause and see a bunch of bands!

Fall is upon us! the pumpkins are here, and Halloween is on the way! We'll be cranking out a bunch of fun gigs this month, and playing all over the place. Hope you can make it out. Thanks to LZ for taking great care of us last Saturday, and making us feel like rock stars! Also, showing us how to use your head in a party situation! We hope that everyone had a great time and we'll keep our ears peeled for more fun in Hen Kicker.

This weekend starts tonight at the Grass Drags and Watercross in Fremont! We'll be playing from 6 to 10, so come down, have a blast and join in the fun! So many exclamation points, so little time! Saturday we return to Whippersnappers in Londonderry for another great night. Now that we're in to fall, the crowds are growing at Whips, and the food is always great, so come early and stay all night. If you haven't been in a while, the restaurant now opens and you can see the stage from the back side of the bar. Pretty cool!

Next weekend we'll be cranking it up in Barre on Friday, so get ready!

Just a quickie. FMQB happens again after a busy week. We had a great time at Gusto's and On Tap this past weekend. The crowds up north in Essex were not as big as the first time, but there was a lot of stuff going on, and regulars out of town, so we'll just chock it up to summer. Good times and long drives

This weekend gets a bit of a change. As mentioned in last week's news, the Electra gig has been cancelled for tonight. We'll chock that up to summer etc. and figure out what we need to do to get all y'all to come out in the upper valley. There has to be a secret method, like free candy or balloons, or something. We'll work on that formula in the secret lab and get back to you! So, tonight is off. Please go support live music! Tomorrow we're kicking it up in West Stewartstown and it's softball tourney weekend, so it should be crazy! Thanks to Eric for his always appreciated accommodations.

What a great couple of weeks! It was fantastic to catch up with the folks in Manchester on the 16th, head off to Maine and kick things off with a great night at Rick's on the 17th, and then pack main street in Newport, VT this past Saturday! We miss playing up north, and the number of folks out in the street showed us that there are still lots of fun loving people up there to play with! We just need a place to play.

My favorite part of the past couple of weeks was the unexpected crossing of paths with former world champion boxer Marvelous Marvin Hagler. Just a random run in with a boxing great at Rick's. Who'd a thunkit! All I can say is way cool, and it was a pleasure to shake your hand.

Coming up we have a great weekend for those of you in central and northern Vermont. Gusto's Friday, with a huge beach party going on, and then On Tap in Essex on Saturday to round out a great weekend. We hope you can make it out and play with us!

Friday the 6th at Electra has been cancelled. Seems like people don't like to hang in West Leb in the summer. We'll see how things go in the fall. But, we're still headed to west Stewartstown on the 7th, so get ready for some wild woods fun!

The impatient award goes to the stage guy from Aquafest. The event was great, the event hosts were great, and then this French shower Ziploc is breaking the stage down around us in the dark. How about five minutes, Clyde? We'll even clean up our mess. OK, we won't and I'll guarantee my anger will be even greater if we have the pleasure of dealing with you next year.

And the narcolepsy award does not go to Riley. Daddy gets back at 2, riley's up at 530! Sweet.

Congratulations to Andrew and Christy. We had a blast at your wedding, even though the heat was making us sweat like crazy! We totally understood when everyone had had enough and headed off to bed before the last set. We cleaned it all up and headed off into the night with another happy 4th! this weekend is almost a weekend off, but we are proud to be a part of a great fundraiser tomorrow. the King Blossom Guitars Apple Jam!

The KBG Apple Jam is the second annual event supporting the Wounded Warrior Project. LKP along with several other bands and guitarists will be playing all day on Saturday to raise funds for the WWP. The event is at the Mount Sunapee resort, and runs from noon to 11pm. We will be one of the earlier acts, taking the stage around 12:30pm. Gates open at 11, and the price is $25 at the gate. We are hoping that one and all can come out and join us to support a great cause and see some great musicians.

Man, time flies when you're busy as all get go. Another week has passed, and it's time to head back out and play some music! A long week of work makes us look forward to the fun times on stage. This past weekend, we headed to Cohasset for a little private party, and had a blast with the folks down there. Such a cool little room with a great view. We hope they'll let us heathens back down that way again some time! Saturday was the return to our friends up in West Stewartstown at the Outback. It was a blast up there and the Mud Run folks surely know how to dance, even though it looks like they didn't know how to wipe their feet on the way in! The dance floor was a muddy, clumpy mess by the end of the night. Still, a good time was had by all and special thanks to Eric for his Pittsburg Hilton accommodations. Greatly appreciated and always good to see you!

Happy birthday to Amelia. 1 is a very important age. Keep eating cake and having fun. don't forget to poop.

As mentioned, this weekend will be in Barre and Manchester. Next weekend is the start of bike week, and we'll be in the Weirs on Saturday night for the final slot on the main stage at the Lobster Pound. 9 to 1 or something like that. So get your scooter out and come out and have some fun with us! Sunday afternoon we'll be at Laconia Harley in Meredith from 6 to 8 for another fun slot with them. We love the folks there, and they have a great little setup with lots of vendors and fun stuff. We'll see if the Sham-Wow folks are there again this year!

With the next to last ski weekend in Maine behind us, I'm looking forward to warm temps and summer like conditions, and it's only April 2! we have the wonderful occurrence of two of our favorite summer places to play this weekend, and both will have fantastic conditions to take the bike out in the evening, and freeze on the way home! We'll be kicking off the weekend at Whippersnappers tonight, with a whole slew of fun and hopefully some of those great temps that the weather guys have been talking about. Then, to round out the weekend, we'll see how packed the deck gets on Saturday at the Derryfield since it's supposed to hit 80! lovin' it!

As the spring season hits us, we look back at a short winter and revel in the great times we have had at Killington, Stowe and Sunday River, and hope that the fun will continue into the next year. Sorry for waxing so nostalgic, but just having one of those moments. Riley will be 2 in a couple weeks, and it just doesn't seem possible. Nothing like a two year old that talks a blue streak, and is funny as all get go. Parenting doesn't stink! Except when she learns the bad words and you know it was me that said them!
