At under AU$300, the price is right for the LG Optimus L7,

This touchscreen, in quality and size, is about right for a prepaid model under AU$300. Its WVGA resolution would have seen the L7 in good company in 2011, but it is noticeably duller than the top guns of this year. Blacks and colours are serviceable without being exceptional in any way. Blacks, in particular, could use a boost, with blacks on-screen looking grey beside the phone's thick bezel. It does display colour gradients well, though, with only very subtle colour banding evident.

There is one UI element that we really love, though. When you pull down the navigation curtain, LG has included a row of customisable settings shortcuts, like Wi-Fi, GPS, Sounds, etc. Also, there is a button for Quick Memo, which takes a screenshot of the current window and lets you draw on it. You could, for example, capture a web page you're looking at, highlight a picture you like and make an annotation for later. Or you could create a message for friends and send the tweaked screen to them over email or a social network. Often we find the manufacturers adding features that don't have a strong everyday use, but Quick Memo is one that we could imagine using quite a bit.

To keep the costs low, LG opts for quite a low spec in the L7, starting with a single-core Qualcomm 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM and an older Adreno 200 graphics processor. This is just not enough to power this phone in a seamless and uninterrupted way, unfortunately. From the moment we turned it on and throughout our testing period, we experienced long lag spikes, even when we were performing simple, everyday tasks, like opening our address book or accessing the images in our photo gallery.

This poor performance carries over into more intensive apps, as you might expect. Ski Safari is a game we've really been getting into lately, but it isn't as much fun when the frame rate is as low as it is on the L7.

On the flipside, battery performance is decent. We saw five hours of continuous video playback in the CNET Australia labs, and while this is far from being record breaking, it is a good day's use.

The 5-megapixel camera in the L7 is, like most other aspects, quite good for the price. You get a tiny LED flash beside the lens, which helps in low light, and auto-focus is built in to the camera software. Like most touchscreen phones, you press on the screen to adjust the camera's focal point, and you can tweak a number of settings, like the exposure and whether you want to take a panoramic photo.

What you can expect in a phone under AU$300 is a line that is shifting all the time. The LG L7 is a good example of a fully featured prepaid model, with a good basis in Android and some useful customisation from LG. The hardware and build quality could be better, though. Its plastic chassis and design are uninspiring, and the single-core 1GHz processor powering it all isn't enough to provide a smooth, seamless user experience.

GTX 670: NVIDIA is concerned about their ROP and memory performance

In a typical high-end GPU launch we’ll see the process take place in phases over a couple of months if not longer. The new GPU will be launched in the form of one or two single-GPU cards, with additional cards coming to market in the following months and culminating in the launch of a dual-GPU behemoth. This is the typical process as it allows manufacturers and board partners time to increase production, stockpile chips, and work on custom designs.

But this year things aren’t so typical. GK104 wasn’t the typical high-end GPU from NVIDIA, and neither it seems is there anything typical about its launch.
NVIDIA has not been wasting any time in getting their complete GK104 based product lineup out the door. Just 6 weeks after the launch of the GeForce GTX 680, NVIDIA launched the GeForce GTX 690, their dual-GK104 monster. Now only a week after that NVIDIA is at it again, launching the GK104 based GeForce GTX 670 this morning.

Like its predecessors, GTX 670 will fill in the obligatory role as a cheaper, slower, and less power-hungry version of NVIDIA’s leading video card. This is a process that allows NVIDIA to not only put otherwise underperforming GPUs to use, but to satisfy buyers at lower price points at the same time. Throughout this entire process the trick to successfully launching any second-tier card is to try to balance performance, prices, and yields, and as we’ll see NVIDIA has managed to turn all of the knobs just right to launch a very strong product.

Like GeForce GTX 680, GeForce GTX 670 is based on NVIDIA’s GK104 GPU. So we’re looking at the same Kepler design and the same Kepler features, just at a lower level of performance. As always the difference is that since this is a second-tier card, NVIDIA is achieving that by harvesting otherwise defective GPUs.

In a very unusual move for NVIDIA, for GTX 670 they’re disabling one of the eight SMXes on GK104 and lowering the core clock a bit, and that’s it. GTX 670 will ship with 7 active SMXes, all 32 of GK104’s ROPs, and all 4 GDDR5 memory controllers. Typically we’d see NVIDIA hit every aspect of the GPU at once in order to create a larger performance gap and to maximize the number of GPUs they can harvest – such as with the GTX 570 and its 15 SMs & 40 ROPs – but not in this case. Blizzard finally launched the Diablo 3 character profiles

Blizzard have finally launched the Diablo 3 character profiles on Battle.net, promised since the game’s release in May. This new addition won’t much alter the way you play, but it does enable you to become better acquainted with your characters and those of your friends.

Providing an overview of your Diablo 3 characters, the profiles enable you to fine tune them, which we’re sure will bring out our obsessive and finicky side. This is particularly the case as you can share your characters with your BattleTag friends, meaning they’re sure to be thoroughly scrutinised.

Blizzard have said additional functionality, including more detailed stats and achievements, will be added further down the line. We’ve written lots of Diablo 3 news in the past few months.

Originally I thought this game would keep me going for well over a year. It was frustrating to realize that beyond Act 2 Inferno (Act III was my progression block), upgrades cost so many millions in the inflated gold AH that you can't see yourself obtaining them in any reasonable amount of time.

Because the general economy is so much more basic than say, World of Warcraft, you can't even find an economic niche to make money. Flipping commodities is a joke. It's all about putting a high level item on auction for outrageous prices, hoping others with outrageous amounts of farmed (or bought) gold will bite and set you up to buy that one rare or set item you need.

In WoW, my guildmate was able to turn a big profit selling casual shirts made from the Tailoring profession. The Diablo economy is boring and linear and leaves most players out of reach.
The only thing that kept me going for an extra couple weeks was trying out rogue builds in Inferno, getting the classes to 60, and trying to complete Hell in hardcore, which didn't work because of the server-wide lag spikes that killed thousands of toons. Later, Blizzard killed the thousands of threads made about the problem.

And Act 2 is awful. It's almost a facelift of Diablo 2's second act: another locked imperial palace in a city in the desert, an oasis, more sewers, a bunch of tombs with the same yellow tilesets, and ANOTHER crazy wizard who you fight in his own floating arcane sanctuary. Kulle's questline is just maddening.

To me the combat and exploration is incredibly satisfying (loved the books and random instances), which were more than enough to motivate me through five lvl 60s. What a let down to see this shallow, repetitive endgame and economy take away from it.

Nexus 7. The software is the best Google has ever made

When Google announced that they are making their own tablet, many quite rightly observed that some of the company's previous products have become the biggest success in the mass market. While the 2008 G1 handset, in the past, like some geeks, it's almost not a device to challenge the iPhone. For the search giant to take the mighty Apple iPad, at least, ambitious.

Actually this is a cruel tablet functional - excellent screen (1280x800 HD can be skipped), battery life of nine hours of nonsense that makes me entertained from London to San Francisco, the speed of the processor is supported by an advanced quad-core at 1.3GHz seems to respond more intuitive than ever to touch the user's finger can not wait. This is not a quality associated with the device before Google, but now they are just what makes the device well enough to demand serious attention in a sea of other Android tablet.

Indeed, Asus, the manufacturer, not winning the previous standard of design, which the laptop has all the popular Zenbook beautiful brushed steel. These costs have been shaved by offering a large margin around the screen and a plain black unit. Build quality is very good and strong, with no marks on it after weeks of my strong, regular use.

Google's software is also the best ever made, but this is a media consumption device more than anything else.

Re-organize the applications and widgets on the homescreens now easier than ever before, but this is a tablet that is intended for people who, most likely, have never used a tablet before Android. There is a front-facing camera for video calls, a few seem likely to be used, but it is nice to have, simply because there is a good dictation and speech recognition, which some people, at least for now, seem to be taking with great enthusiasm.

This is why Nexus emphasize 'Play Shop', not the root of Android.
In short, the Nexus 7 is not for geeks or fans of the tablet. This is for the broader market.
Nexus 7 is remarkable, as a whole, the device is feasible to take a tablet of the niche category is dominated by the iPad to really a mass market phenomenon.

Nexus 7: is it a genuinely good Android tablet?

The Nexus 7 is a small device that looks harmless. Simple face of Google's first foray into the world of tablet do not have the hardware buttons apart from the power button and volume rocker, and 7-inch form factor flexibility means it can slip away into a bag or jacket pocket. With prices ranging from U.S. $ 199 for 8 GB model, the device is basically sold out the first flight in the U.S. So this initial success is only a matter of cost, Android tablet, or it really good? We take the Nexus 7 for a spin to find out.

Hardware

Nexus 7, particularly for tablet of this size, packing some serious grunting loudly. A quad core processor provides the processing power of Tegra 3, with 1GB RAM provides enough memory, along with a strong enough Android multi-tasking ability, to handle various tasks using a typical day can throw at it. The device itself comes with either 8 or 16GB of onboard storage, depending on how much cash you're ready to splurge (we have used variants of $ 199 8 GB, 16 GB model costs $ 249).

The 4325 mAh battery (specced at the "up to 8 hours of active use") which is quite generous compared to the size of the tablet, but we suspect the battery life is mostly helped by the fact that Nexus 7 does not carry a cell phone antenna data, one of the main causes behind Low battery problems between the brothers that smartphone 7.

Camera

In a moving, interesting though is not really surprising, Google has been throwing the rear-facing camera on this device, chose to 1.2 MP camera on the front face solitary for video calling. Given the awkwardness of using the tablet as the camera is upon us as a smart decision that no doubt allows Google to add more hardware grunt elsewhere while keeping costs down.

Form Factor

The main reason to buy a device of this size is that, unlike the iPad or other 10-inch tablet, can be held easily and comfortably in one hand, and 7 Nexus certainly built for that purpose. Display panel is large enough relative to the size of the screen, and we found it quite easy to hold in one hand and tap the screen with your thumb on the hand that - given the positive definite will probably find much use as an e-reader.

If the game is the thing, the size means you can store the tablet as if you hold the Nintendo DS or similar. Especially with games like Minecraft, where you actually have to use two hands at once, the small size makes doing this with both thumbs are very reasonable, where trying to do the same thing on a larger device is almost always heavy. People's hands, in particular, will enjoy the feel of the device when it comes to this application. Once again, the performance, especially in a full 3D real-time Minecraft given the world, is as smooth as butter.

Software

Speaking of butter, 7 Nexus has made headlines not so much for the hardware, but software. Jelly Bean, the latest in a long list of tasty-treat version of the Android flavor, more iterative updating compared to its predecessor Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), with the main focus is speed. Project butter is the official name given to the suite of changes made to accelerate the Android user interface, and we sat together with the Nexus 7 Touchpad ICS-powered HP tablet and phone Nexus S, the difference is readily apparent.

Our observation of ICS, especially on older hardware, is that the response of the interface is often found lacking - press the screen to be missed, drawer application will last up to five or six seconds just to load, the widget will sometimes disappear and then re-emerged thanks to the load on the source power system ... but all these examples there is no slowdown in the Nexus 7. It's hard to know exactly how much this is due to optimization software, and how much power thanks to the wealth of available hardware to the OS (some have commented that JB installed on older devices do not provide the same level sufficient snappiness), but we are happy to said that the update brings real, tangible improvements to the speed and general usability of the Android OS.

One of the addition of another well-known software is Google now, a perfect example of everything that is good-but-ever-so-slightly-creepy about Google. Pressing the home button and swiping to take you to the page now, where you can see various "cards." This card can do various things, like saying you're traveling times to work or home or other purposes, when you leave the house to get to the next flight, how best to get to the next meeting or appointment, the value of the last game involving your favorite sports team , and a host of others.

Most of the time it will be true, or at least close enough that the error is corrected in the search engines. You can also download software voice to text to your Nexus, so no need to go online to make a transcription, making it an interesting free tool to, for example, transcription of the interview. It also handles accents are also thanks to the large number of international languages and various versions of English.

The one niggle is continuous with the Nexus 7 OS, and it has been observed in many other places online, is the stubborn refusal of the screen to rotate away from the portrait mode when the tablet is placed in landscape orientation. Universal screen is locked by default, but this is fixed by pressing a single software. The Home screen, however, will not be short shift install a special application for this purpose, or rooting for the super user access, and then change the dpi to get the full layout of the tablet.

Neither option is particularly stressful - the first is a matter of a few dollars, a second wind thanks to a wealth of automated tools online (incidentally, we take the second route), but given Google's lock screen as a design choice and not a technical problem, it is an irritant that can avoided.

Google Play

Nexus 7 is a content consumption device that is designed to fulfill the same role as the Fire Kindle, so it is worth taking note of the application and content ecosystem to stand behind this tablet. It's no coincidence that Google adds TV shows to selection at the same Turn 7 was launched, and has also led to the service by giving users $ 20 of store credit when they ponied Play for tablets. This device is intended as a portal into the online world of Google and from a hardware perspective, it's perfect for everything from e-reading for HD movies to see mobile gaming performance.

While the store change brings Google closer to Apple and Amazon in terms of selection, the fact that TV shows, movies and buy the magazine is currently only available to buyers in the U.S. Google will leave users from other areas feel like they are losing. For international users, it is a fact that should influence your buying decision.

Wrapping Up

But in the end, we review the hardware, rather than Google's content strategy, and there is nothing to complain about in that department - quite the contrary. It's hard to imagine packing more hardware to the device-priced entry-level like this, and Nexus 7 stomps on other Android tablet well above the price point. Batteries and raw processing power standouts, and suitable for all games and watch movies you will want to do. The screen quality is good without the retina, but at this size (and, for that price, the material) is not important. And then there is Jelly Bean - iteration important, even if no particular game-changing about it compared to what we see with Ice Cream Sandwich.

If you see a cheap way into the tablet market as first time buyers, there is simply no other place to go. If you are interested, but not sold, on a 7-inch form factor, 7 Nexus can be a device that does it for you. If you are an iPad user curious but dedicated, well ... You can only look on with longing and waiting for the mini iPad seems inevitable.

Samsung has made a great deal on new phones, not only chose to launch it in a big event in London and luxurious self-contained but also claimed nearly 10 million pre-orders before it even launched.

The price was good enough for top-end phones - such as Three people have offered to just £ 34 per month with oodles of minutes and data, which is much, much cheaper than the iPhone will ever begin to.

And there are cheaper deals - can have a price of £ 28 per month from The Carphone Warehouse with no upfront costs ... You may be able to find even cheaper on line but the cost is very light for a cell phone to class to start.

But let's get down to the main question - is this the phone you have to spend hard-earned cash on?

The microUSB slot is placed at the bottom of the phone - easy to find with a charger but it will be interesting to see how it's used when placed in docks and car cradles.

This means that not only can switch the battery in and out - a key consideration for many people - there's also a nasty surprise in the form of a microSD slot next to the port microSIM. Expandable memory? It just gets better and better.

This means that theoretically you will be able to have a capacity of 128GB Samsung S3 Galaxy if you combine the spec on the internal memory (64GB) with the largest microSD cards around this time (64GB) ... so that the delicious prospect for those who love the place media.

Sure, there are statistics that say only 10% of users regularly go to 16GB of storage, but there is always the lower end of the S3 version of the Galaxy to it ... but with HD movie downloads become much more common, plus the inclusion of HD applications, we think more space is a good idea.

A fresh water fish tank requires about 30 minutes to an hour of work a week depending on the size of the tank.

Waht you will need:

1) You will need a clean 5 gallon bucket that has never had chemicals or soap inside of it.

2) A hose or gravel cleaner

3) A bag of natural or synthetic sea salt

I have split the work into two parts the tank which needs to be cleaned ever week on the same day and the filters which can be cleaned every 2 or 3 weeks.

The very first thing you have to do before you start cleaning your fish tank is to unplug your tanks heater if you have one. The heater can not be allowed to be removed from the water while it is hot so make sure to leave it unplugged at least 20 minutes before attempting to remove it. The water help cool the glass on the heater if removed it could crack, or the glass could totally shatter. You should also remember to never stick your hand inside of any fish tank before making sure the heater is not only off but unplugged from the wall. A small crack in the heater could be more then enough to cause a shock to you that can be fatal.

After the heater has ha time to cool you can safely remove the heater from the tank or it the heater is submersible you can just push it down to the bottom of the tank.

Now take any decorations you may have placed in the tank, so all you have are the small gravel at the bottom, this will allow you to get any dirt that those decorations may have been covering up. Now if you do not have a gravel cleaner you are going to have to roll up your sleeves and get your hands wet. You will need to stir up the gravel to get the dirt that has settled between the gravel into the water, and start removing the water into the bucket with the hose. Do not throw out the water you will still need it to clean the filters.

If you have a gravel cleaner, push the plastic tube into the gravel until it hits the bottom of the tank, then start a siphon into the bucket, every second or 2 move the gravel cleaner over an inch or 2 and repeat this process until either you have removed 15 percent of the tanks water of you have cleaned all the gravel.

Now at this point you can clean the Aquariums filters. The insides of the filters are used to grow bacteria, that help break down the nitrites and nitrates that are in the water from fish waste and uneaten food. To make sure we don’t kill all these Aquarium friendly bacteria, we clean the filter materials and sponges in the dirty water that I also full of the bacteria. Take everything out of the filters and rinse them of in the bucket of dirty Aquarium water, then give the sponge a couple of squeezes in the bucket and reassemble the filters, and put them back on the tank.

Now before adding the water sea salt must be added to the tank. All water has some amount of salt in it and to replicate the natural habitat of the fish there must be salt in your tank as well. Add approximately 1 cup of sea salt for every 50 gallons of water.

Now you can add water to the tank, but you must make sure the water is the within a degree or two of the temperature of the water in the tank. A drastic change in the tanks temperature suddenly can throw the fish into shock and kill them or weaken their immunity and help give them a fish disease. I recommend filling the bucket with hot water and checking it regularly till it is the same as the tanks temperature, then slowly add the water to the tank, start the filters and the heater.

Cleaning the filters only needs to be done once or twice a month, but the water in the tank must be cleaned on the same day every week.

6. After the betting is over, the dealer will burn another card, then deal the fourth of the communal cards. This card is called the Turn card

8. One last time the dealer burns the top card before turning over the last card of the game, called the River card. Players now have all 5 of the communal cards and their own hole card to make the best 5 card hand.

9. One last chance is given to raise the bets or get out of the game. After this each player still in the game will show their cards. This is called the Showdown. The player with the best hand is declared the winner and wins the pot.

The first watches did not wind automatically. They did not light up with digital numbers, nor did they tell the date or have alarms that could be set. These completely mechanical watches didn’t need batteries either, but they did need to be “powered” somehow. In order to keep on going, a mechanical watch needs to be wound regularly -- usually once per day. So why would people today opt for a mechanical watch in this age of inexpensive quartz and digital watches? It’s all about aesthetics and an appreciation for the art of watch making.

What Makes a Watch Mechanical?

For a watch to be completely mechanical it must not only run by means of a wound spring and set of gears, but these must be powered by mechanical means. This is different from a quartz watch which also ticks off time by the movement of gears, but keeps those gears moving through the energy of a quartz crystal. With a mechanical watch the energy to move the gears is powered by the winding of the mainspring. When the spring is fully wound on a typical mechanical watch the watch will keep accurate time for about 40 hours. There are more complex mechanical watches that can keep time for much longer with a full wind of the mainspring. Automatic watches are also considered mechanical watches, but the movement of the wearer’s wrist is able to activate the winding, hence the name automatic watches.

The same basic design of a mechanical watch is not all that different today than it was half a century ago. The intricate workings of a mechanical watch involves more than a dozen types of screws and about 40 more wheels, springs, plates, balances, and jewels -- and that doesn’t even include the case, face or strap! All of these tiny parts go into making the precise movement of a mechanical watch. However, at the heart of the finer watch movement are the jewels.

The Hidden Jewels in Every Mechanical Watch

The jewels are named as such because they are literally jewels -- specifically rubies. Genuine rubies were once used because they are made of crystallized aluminum oxide. This is a very hard material with a smooth, slippery surface that allows the wheel pivots to move in a consistent, constant manner as powered by a wound mainspring. This also keeps the steel wheel pivots from wearing down from the friction of the movement. Today, synthetic rubies are used in numbers ranging from 5 to 35 jewels depending on the complexity of the movement. At one time, manufacturers believed more jewels were better, but have settled in with about 4-8 jewels being the most efficient way to power the mainspring.

How All of the Components Work Together

If you were to open the back of a mechanical watch you would see the ticking off of the mainspring.
