No Bajaj name on the badge of the car

To take on Tata Nano, Mahindra Renault/Nissan alliance finalised a deal with Bajaj Auto on Tuesday to produce an ultra-low cost car by 2012. Mahindra Renault/Nissan Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn, said he had worked out the broad contours of a highly fuel-efficient ultra low-cost car project with Bajaj MD Rajiv Bajaj that would be out by 2012.

Although Carlos Ghosn refused to confirm whether the companies had signed a formal joint venture detailing concrete investment and production plans. When asked about the price range of the car and whether it will be cheaper than the Tata Nano, Carlos Ghosn said, "I am sure that the cost of the car will be lower than any car made in India". He also made it clear that production cost of the car could be different from its market price.

In the absence of Bajaj MD Rajeev Bajaj, Carlos Ghosn stated that there would be no Bajaj name on the badge of the car. The project that was announced in 2008 has already been delayed, because of the differences between the partners on a host of issues, including badging, designing and positioning of the vehicle.

Carlos Ghosn didn't commented about a May 2008 statement of the companies where they had announced plans to form a JV company for the low-cost car where 50 percent would be owned by Bajaj and 25 percent each by Mahindra Renault and Nissan. Volkswagen Beetle and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X cars will soon launch in India.

Volkswagen Beetle to be launched in India in December

The year 2009 has been the year of auto products launch so far and the end is expected to be same. Volkswagen is reported to bring its Volkswagen Beetle in India by December. The car was developed initially as a people's car but it is not the case in India as the cost would be much higher. The price range is believed to be around $20,000 thereby placing it in luxury car segment in India. The car is expected to be displayed in upcoming Auto Expo in Delhi.

In the meantime, a news Volkswagen Polo and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X are believed to be launched in India early next year. Volkswagen sells Volkswagen Passat, Volkswagen Tourage and Volkswagen Jetta in India at present.

Bajaj and Renault ultra low cost car again on track

Bajaj Auto One of India's largest two Wheeler manufacturer is all set to launch its ultra low cost car in India with Mahindra Renault Motors. According to news reports leaving behind all differences both companies now eagerly working on this plan. The main reason in the delay of the car was some car branding and basic concept of the car related differences. to clear these differences CEO of Nissan, Mahindra Renault, Carlos Ghosn met Bajaj Auto MD Rajiv Bajaj.

The Joint Plan of Bajaj-Nissan-Renault was announced In year 2007. All of these companies are working on small car plans for two years now. But some time back the project was halted because of some issues related to Branding, Product details and basic concept of the model.

It is expected that the car would be launched under the price tag of $2500. After success of Tata Nano in India many major car manufacturers are looking to grab the market share in low income class and lower middle class which is present in a wast number in India and the Tata Nano model will be main competitor of this ultra low cost car.

Renault will be launching it's full range of products in India

French auto major Mahindra Renault said it will offer to launch a full range of products in India and the company is working constantly to line up the right product, even as it tries to sort out differences with partners in the country.

Mahindra Renault Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn said, " Mahindra Renault will have much more products for India. There will be a full line up of products of Mahindra Renault for India and we have not come to India to sell one specific car. It's coming to India to contribute to the development of the Indian market and will come up with a complete line up."

Mahindra Renault has three joint ventures in India with Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), Ashok Leyland and Bajaj Auto. Mahindra Renault with its Japan-based partner Nissan is investing around Rs 4,000 crore in setting up a passenger car facility in Chennai with a total production capacity of 4 lakh units a year.

The plant is expected to start production by 2010 for Nissan products. After having meetings with partners in India, Carlos Ghosn said: "I am in India for the WEF and taking this opportunity to meet all our partners, Bajaj, Mahindra and Ashok Leyland. The upcoming cars in India are Volkswagen Beetle and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X.

Ultimate Motors to launch world's fastest car in India

Ultimate Motors, a Dubai-based distributor of exotic and luxury sports cars in the world, is reported to bring its three brands of Super Hyper Cars (SHCs) in India by the end of the current year. The yet-to-launch SHCs are- Arash, Shelby and Zenvo including Ultimate Aero. Ultimate Aero's top speed is 413 kmph and its powerful engine belts out 1,183 horsepower. The awesome power and top speed give it the world's fastest car.

The Aero can achieve 0-60 kmph sprint in just 2.78 seconds. On the other hand, UK based Arash and Denmark's Zenvo are planning the launch in India. The above mentioned SHCs are priced between Rs 2.4 to 5.4 crore. The news is confirmed by Ultimate Motors' President, Nasser Al-Hai who came here to attend an event. Meanwhile, Volkswagen Beetle and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X are going to be introduced in India by the end of the year and to be showcased in Auto Expo 2010.

Tata to shut down its Pune commercial vehicle plant

Tata Motors one of India's largest car manufacturers is expected to shut down its commercial vehicle plant in Pune for three days starting from November 13 to November 15. The Main reason of this shut down is shortage off a critical engine component.

"Supply of fuel injection pump from one of our vendors has been affected due to the fire in Jaipur," as told by Tata Spokes person. However the name of the supplier hasn't been disclosed yet. Because of a big fire at Indian Oil Corporation depot at Jaipur the near by factories in near by area have been asked to shut down by the govt.

Hyundai starts up with it's 'Always Around' Campaign

Almost three years back Hyundai Motor India Limited started its campaign ‘Always There, Because We Care’ in order to offer best quality customer support for its Hyundai car owners in India.

This year the company has started a campaign Always Around from November 8, 2009 and Hyundai will be offering free checkups at all convenient locations for its customers in the cities where Hyundai cars are sold.

Shopping malls, jogging parks, Multiplexes, etc can be the targeted locations. This year Shell India has also joined the campaign for Hyundai customers as the lubricant supplier. Participating in the activity to support the campaign Shell India will also take valuable feedback from customers.

Last year it was witnessed that Hyundai had set up around 6000 camps and nearly 80,000 cars had visited the camps for free check up. This year "Always Around" campaign will be available at 6500 locations and will service at least 90,000 customers in the country. The campaign will remain active till December 2009. Volkswagen Beetle and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X are the upcoming cars in India.

Bajaj, Nissan and Renault to develop small car by 2011

Tata Nano has become an ideal for the auto world and many are impressed with the small car. Bajaj, Nissan and Mahindra Renault are working hard to develop a new small car that is to be available not only in India but abroad. Chief of Mahindra Renault and Nissan alliance Carlos Ghosn told here in India that the trio, Bajaj, Nissan and Mahindra Renault, is working to develop the compact car and it is expected to done by 2011. He added that the car would be priced between $2,500 to $3,000.

However, whatever be the price it would satisfy the customer with basic feature and functionality. Ghosn said that even though differences among the partners are there but the development process is continue. He also appreciated the growth of car market in India. Ghosn mentioned and declared the Indian engineers the second in providing basic features in cars with affordable prices. Meanwhile a new car is going to be introduced by Volkswagen that is Volkswagen Beetle and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X is also in the line from Mitsubishi. US based Ford Motors is planning to implement a latest rear seat airbag system in which seat belts of rear seat passengers will also work as airbags. These type of seat belt come airbags are specially developed to reduce injuries of children as well as elderly people. This new technology can be seen as a new marketing strategy at a time when almost every big car manufacture is coming with something new in its portfolio.

Ford seat belt is coming with an inflatable bag inside the shoulder strap. with this shoulder strap a small cylinder of cold compressed gas is also fitted beneath the seat which started acting in the case of a sudden crash or mishap. According to Ford Motors the belts inflate less explosively than a traditional air bag and are designed to spread the force of a crash over an area of the body five times as large as regular seat belts do.

"Vehicle safety has come a long away, but the focus has been on the front seat," said Stewart C. Wang, a trauma surgeon at the University of Michigan hospital and director of the university’s Program for Injury Research and Education, who spoke at Ford’s unveiling of the technology Thursday.

Mercedes-Benz Cars saw 4 percent sales in October

German carmaker Daimler AG said Friday its Mercedes-Benz Cars division that saw a 4 per cent rise in global sales in the month of October. Based in Stuttgart, Daimler said the division, which includes the Mercedes-Benz and Smart brands, delivered 97,700 cars during the month compared with 9,3800 in October 2008.

Daimler also said that sales of Mercedes-Benz Cars in China rose 84 percent to 6,800 cars for the month, and that it had already sold more cars there in 2009 than it had for the whole of 2008.

Joachim Schmidt the head of sales and marketing of the Mercedes-Benz Cars division said, "Mercedes-Benz Cars will continue to grow at a dynamic rate in China, and we expect the increase for 2009 as a whole to amount to more than 50 percent." The Asia-Pacific region including China saw a 34 percent increase to 14,100 deliveries. South Korea and Australia saw 63 percent and 22 percent increases, while Japan saw a 7 percent decline.

Overall, it can be stated that the company saw a 9 percent increase in the U.S. with the delivery of 18,900 vehicles. North American sales including the U.S. were up more than 10 percent to 21,600 vehicles. In Frankfurt trading shares of Daimler were 1.5 percent higher at euro33.15. With Auto Expo Toyota Prius will be launched in 2010 in India.

The best selling product of Ford, US auto manufacturer, Ford Fiesta now will be available with a couple of new features in India. The mid-sized sedan Ford Fiesta is having the price tag of Rs 6.44 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Nevertheless, the new Ford Fiesta 1.6 ZXI comes with petrol engine only. Maruti Suzuki mulls assembling SUV Grand Vitara by next year in India

The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki is thinking to locally assemble its sports utility vehicle Maruti Grand Vitara by next year, as it wants to bring an advanced version of the SUV to arrest falling sales. According to further sources, "The company is seriously considering to bring in an advanced version of Vitara into India, mainly to arrest the falling sales of the SUV."

MSI's plans would be dependent on the market response to the advanced version of the SUV to be introduced in 2010. Maruti Grand Vitara is available for Rs 16.67-17.97 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) with a 2.4 litre petrol engine in both manual as well as automatic transmission. In the recent months, sales of Maruti Grand Vitara is falling drastically. During April-September period, sales of the SUV fell nearly 70 per cent to just 59 units from 194 units in the year-ago period.

Even after launching an advanced version of Maruti Grand Vitara in July 2009, the company failed to revive the demand for the model. In September, sales declined by 53 per cent to only 9 units as against 19 units in the same month last year. MSI's parent Suzuki has sold over 25 lakh units of Maruti Grand Vitara across the worlds since its launch. Toyota Prius the hybrid passenger car, is expected to launch in India by early 2010.

Nissan to bring Murano in India by 2010

Nissan one of the largest car manufacturer originated in Japan is all set to bring its latest sensation in Auto market around the word, the Nissan Murano in India. Audi sales increases by 8 percent last month

Audi India, which is one of the luxury car maker in India recently reported that the company saw 8.41 per cent increase in its sales in October at 116 units over the same period last year. Audi India had also sold 107 units in October, 2008. The company's sales in the first 10 months have reported by 63.91 per cent at 1,449 units as against 884 units in January- October period last year.

Audi India Managing Director Benoit Tiers said, "Audi India has continued its sales momentum in October 2009. We have again shown growth, this clearly demonstrates our consistency in performance." Toyota Prius and Auto Expo will be launched in Indian market in 2010.

Maruti to launch Kizashi in India by next year

Maruti will launch its Maruti Kizashi model in India soon. The Maruti Kizashi model is a mid-size sedan model which has already been launched in Japan. Toyota cars in India crosses four lakh mark

There are four lakh Toyota cars in India. This mark is achieved in the 11^th year of its inception in India. Toyota, world's largest car maker by sales, intends to increase TKM dealerships from 93 to 150 by 2011. By the year 2011, the company will introduce a small car and for its launch the second production plant would be set up in Bangalore at an investment of Rs 3,200 crore.

Sandeep Singh, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) Deputy Managing Director (Marketing), said in a statement that it is a big step for the auto market and the company. Toyota, which is present in India through a joint venture with the Kirloskar Group, currently sells Toyota Prado and Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Camry, Toyota Corolla Altis, Toyota Fortuner and Toyota Innova. Toyota Prius is expected to be showcased in Auto Expo 2010.

Hold your breath! Luxury car makers are planning to launch diesel models in India thereby adding more customers in the tally. There are some leading car makers in the list- Maruti, BMW, Mercedes, Hyundai. BMW might introduce new E class in diesel engine. This new model will be displayed in Auto Expo 2010. Moreover, Maruti to roll out diesel variant of Maruti SX4. Recently, Maruti Suzuki has launched automatic transmission of Maruti SX4. Hyundai is also gearing up to unveil diesel variant of Hyundai Sonata. On the other hand, Mercedes, Audi and BMW sell more diesel products than petrol units. After the launch of diesel variant of Toyota Fortuner SUV, sales of petrol variant of Honda CR-V is under pressure. The production of the former is learnt to be increased by more than 60 per cent in October.

TKM, deputy MD (sales and marketing), Sandeep Singh says that higher power and torque figures can be achieved through advanced diesel technology that can satisfy premium car buyers. He added that Toyota Fortuner, Toyota Innova, Toyota Corolla and Toyota Camry's sells is more than petrol variants. The same thing happens with General Motors. It's Chevrolet Optra diesel sales is more than 75 per cent to its counterparts. Maruti Suzuki’s fast movers Maruti Dzire and Swift are selling 65 per cent diesel variants and others like General Motors, Hyundai, Mahindra & Mahindra, Ford and Tata Motors are jacking up production of the diesel models. Hyundai Verna and Sonata, General Motors Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet Cruze Mahindra’s Logan, and Tata’s Indica and Indigo, are seeing an increase in diesel model sales in the recent months. On the other hand, Toyota also going to launch electric model of Toyota Prius in Auto Expo 2010.

Mahindra & Mahindra vehicle sales grow 32 pc in October

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M ), the nation’s largest utility vehicle maker, has experienced a 32 per cent sales growth in October. Senior vice-president Arun Malhotra said, "Lower interest rates and packages offered by finance companies have triggered sales in class B & C towns. Our strong distribution network in the rural markets has helped us notch up good sales numbers in these markets in the past few months."

It was witnessed that last month sales of Mahindra Xylo, Mahindra Bolero and Mahindra Scorpio models have overtaken Toyota Innova, Tata Sumo and Tata Safari and Chevrolet Tavera. It was estimated by the industry that Toyota Innova sold around 4,050 units, while Chevrolet Tavera sale stood at around 1,000 units in October.

The festive season of the past two months generated strong sales and has given the Indian automobile industry some respite from the slow performance of the last few months. Other than this Mahindra & Mahindra posted a 21 percent growth in tractors sales in October. It sold 18,772 units of tractors in October, compared with 15,465 units in a year-ago period. With Auto Expo, Toyota Prius will launch in India next year.

Tata to show Xover in Delhi Auto Expo show

Tata Motors India's one of the largest car manufacturer is Planning to show its famous and long awaited MUV vehicle Tata Xover in Indian Auto Expo in New Delhi. The Delhi Auto Expo is expected to start from January 2010. It is expected that the Tata Xover model will be priced in the range of Rs 6 to 8 lakhs. Launch of the Tata Xover model is expected to be in the middle of the next year.

After the launch the Tata Xover model will compete with other famous crossovers of this price range like Toyota Innova, Mahindra Xylo and Chevrolet Tavera etc. The Tata Xover model is coming with a three row seating arrangement which makes it perfect for family tour es. Besides this the Tata Xover model is coming with all new generation features like new generation engine, navigation system, Anti lock braking system and airbags.

Fiat Linea T-Jet in Auto Expo

Fiat Linea T-Jet will be brought in Auto Expo 2010 in Delhi. The new model of Fiat will have 1.4L petrol mill in turbo-charged version. If the car launches, it will be the first in the segment with a turbo-charged petrol mill. The power mill of Fiat T-jet will belt out 120Ps of peak power at 5000 rpm and churn out 206 Nm of maximum torque at 1750 rpm. As far as acceleration is concerned, it will achieve 0-100 kmph sprint in 9.2 seconds. The peak speed of the car is 200 kmph. Apart from the power pack powertrain, the vehicle will sport reverse parking sensors, rain sensing wipers and automatic headlamps.

Other important feature includes Hill Holder function that it will halt the car from rolling backwards when you are on an incline and take the foot off the accelerator. The base version of the car, Fiat Linea, was launched earlier this year. It is also reported that Toyota Prius will also land there for display.

Facelift for new Fiat Palio

Fiat Auto India Limited, which is the Indian subsidiary of Italian auto manufacturer wants to give a facelift to the Fiat Palio that is its oldest surviving model. The new upgraded model will give a major marketing push to the existing small car that will rule out any phasing out of the model from the Indian car market.

Current models of Fiat Palio are being powered by 1.1L, 57 bhp and 1.6L, 100 bhp engines. These engines are also expected to be upgraded according to BS IV norms which will be in action from April 2010.

The diesel model of Fiat Palio is already BS IV compliant and does not need to be upgraded. A senior executive from the company said, “Although the Palio has become an old model now, it continues to serve our strategic purpose of being the entry level model in our range, while complementing the Punto. It was, hence, essential to infuse some refreshments to the model to keep it under production."

The Indian car market will witness the launch of Toyota Prius with Auto Expo nearly between 5-11 Jan next year.

Skoda Registered A whooping 98% increase in October sales

Skoda One of the most popular car brand in India has registered a 98% jump in its October sales compare to same period of the last year. According to the company Skoda Sold 1753 units against 887 units in the same month of last year.

Toyota Avanza in Auto Expo 2010

More and more cars are being reported to be showcased in Delhi Auto Expo in Jan 10. The list of the cars increasing day by day. The new vehicle in the list is Toyota Avanza.

This five-seater vehicle is believed to be displayed in the Auto Expo. The Toyota Avanza will be priced low than Innova, an MPV from Toyota. The new vehicle will be powered by a 1.5 litre petrol mill. Toyota Prius might be unveiled in the show too.

The Auto Expo is scheduled to be held from January 5 to 11, 2010 in Pragati Maidan. A good number of domestic and international auto makers will participate in this show.
