Storyline

After Paul and Jenny part company with their sinister housekeeper Agatha, the disgruntled former employee gives a vintage doll called Robert to their son Gene. Soon after Agatha's departure, strange events begin plaguing the household. Furniture is vandalized, objects are thrown around and maniacal giggles echo through the house in the middle of the night. But nobody believes Gene when he claims Robert is to blame for the disturbances. Paul and Jenny consider the possibility that a supernatural force has taken over their home. But as the occurrences escalate they discover that it's not the house that's haunted... it's the doll.

pleasantly surprised!

I wasn't expecting much after some people trashed it but was pleasantly surprised to see how good the film actually was. It takes place in one house most of the film which gives it a decent claustrophobia and tension. The story doesn't carry many surprises if you've seen these doll possessed films before but there is added tension with the father and mother characters, an argumentative pair who are like a bomb waiting to go off for half the film. The suspense is pretty well done, lots of bits that reminded me of the opening scene of Halloween (original not crappy remake) and the ending was a rip of Halloween 4. A few performances are a bit hammy, but for the most part the actors play it serious and do an okay job. Films like this are clearly done with not much money to cash in so when one turns out to be quite well crafted it's well worth giving it some due. It's not perfect, but then I didn't need it to be to enjoy it. The films has a lot of good things going for it.

This franchise just keeps getting better and better!

You would think that after five films this would have become a tired premise, but the way that it takes on the spy genre as both an intelligent espionage thriller as well as a big-budget blockbuster makes it even better than the new James Bond films.

It's exciting, slick, cool and fun, but this series, most of all in this film, has got an amazingly inexhaustible energy to it that makes it so brilliant.

Let's start, then, with the main attraction of this film: the action. Simply, it's stunning. There are five separate big action sequences here, each lasting around ten minutes more or less, and they are all high-octane thrill-rides that never let up and make this such an entertaining film.

Tom Cruise proves once again that he's a blockbuster star like no other, giving his all in the action here, whether it's attaching himself to a plane, jumping in a chasm of water or riding a superbike through the desert (in what was, in my opinion, the greatest, most exhilarating car chase ever).

On that note, actually, the incredible bike chase is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the great action, but credit has to go to director Christopher McQuarrie for excellently turning this into a good-looking and intense action thriller, using great camera work (avoiding shaky cam) to make it so brilliantly entertaining.

Away from the stunts, this film has still got a very good plot to it. There are few blockbusters that couple great action and intelligent storytelling nowadays, but this really bucks that trend, because it's absolutely enthralling to follow from start to finish.

There are betrayals and deceptions galore in this spy thriller, as well as a genuinely exciting climax, which is so unpredictable that it makes you forget about the generic plots of the less successful films and be properly engrossed in the current story.

Finally, this is also a very nice film to look at, thanks both to McQuarrie's direction, as well as the beautiful sets and landscapes that this is set in all over the world.

From the mesmerising desert of Morocco to the foggy alleys of London, this is a global journey that goes even further than the previous films, and comes out with a stunning result, the best of the series in my opinion!

Wow! That was hilarious!

Way beyond my expectations.

Jack black was nothing but hysterical. Honestly could not stop laughing at him.

James Marsden make a fantastic side kick to Black's fantastic performance.

Another great Jack Black movie written by Mike White who also wrote School of Rock.

Black plays the head of his 20 year high school reunion committee who after seeing one of his classmates, Oliver lawless played by Marsden in a national TV commercial, weaves a very tangled web to get the coolest guy in the school to come to the reunion so he can be a hero but his quest turns out a little disastrous.

This movie impressively went places I did not expect and turn out some real funny results that change how I see Bromance movies forever.

Excellent Movie and Touching.

From the trailers and songs , most of the movie is sorta guessed at. A sad / tragic love story , the question remains it has been handled well by the scriptwriters , the director etc.

The answer is a resounding yes. This is Mohit Suri's forte and he has elicited a fantastic performance from Emraan , Vidya. In particular this is Emraan's movie , his eyes speak volumes in his scenes.

The music is well placed.

The characters are not black or white , but grey, with their self motivations.

It's worth the money of the ticket. Go for it ...

Outstanding Epic Heart Touching Bajrangi Bhaijaan

I don't know from where to start & where to end. SALMAN KHAN has just nailed it. Pavan in reel is just mirror image of Salman Khan in real. Love, Care, Share, Being Human. Simple, sweet, innocent. His eyes and expressions are enough. Never seen image of Salman. As he has said no one clapped for his shirtless scene. HARSHALI as Munni (Shahida) is super cute. That innocence she has made our hearts to melt. Her sweetness steals the show. Without her voice she says everything. Understanding, the bonding between her & Salman is beyond perfection. NAWAZ as Pakistani Reporter Chand Nawab is mind blowing. How he helps Salman & Munni that's must watch in movie. KAREENA as Rasika is beautiful & played her part very well. Each scene is perfect. Story by V. Vijayendra Prasad is outstanding. All are just perfect in their respective characters. Or I'll say no one can do them other than Salman, Harshali & Nawaz. Perfect direction by KABIR KHAN. Aseem Mishra as DOP has shown Kashmir's true beauty. Love moments, fun moments, emotional moments everything is perfect. There is not a single moment in whole movie at where you'll think it is unnecessary. Movie will force you to think God, Religion, Country, Boundary no one can stop Love & Humanity. Wow, finally a good thriller movie after a long time. Drishyam is a remake of the Malayalam movie by the same title. The movie is nestled in a Goan village, the kind where everyone knows one- another. The protagonist is a middle-class Goan Vijay Salgaonkar( Ajay Devgn) for whom his family's well being is paramount.

Pathetic

Simply awful.That's the correct word I have for this movie.Terrible direction and terrible script.Disgusting Cinematography. If you have excess time utilize it but don't go this movie or never watch it even on piracy. The junior Big B should rethink why he is continuing acting and selecting this kind of movie. The heroine is in this movie but for what reason she knows! The only reason I have given it one is for two reason!

1) The utilization of the original score from 90's was pathetic but you will feel nostalgic. 2) Rishi Kapoor tries to give the movie a shape.

Better than expected...

I'm now writing this review back to back with another (similar?) comedy Unfinished Business (2015) with Vince Vaughn (who actually was supposed to be the star of the wedding ringer along with Owen Wilson).

I'm disappointed from most of the recent comedies, so I had low expectations with this one too. Well...the verdict is...it's better than expected! Not a masterpiece or anything but it works.

The premise? You've seen it before in many variations. A socially unpopular guy is engaged to be married with a "hot" woman, above his looks and status. His problem? He doesn't have any friends, so he hires a professional "best man" and his team, so he can offer to his woman the wedding she dreamed of.

Josh Gad and Kevin Hart are not first class comedians. They have some chemistry though, so the inevitable bromance works.

There are some funny moments. A dance. Some crude humor but not too much. It looks like Wedding Crashers "Lite".

Overall: Watch it if you had the time. Not great but overall is satisfying enough.

First time since Tootsie I've seen an audience give a clapping ovation.

Light and funny this movie is pure and unabashed entertainment - my kids and everyone else in the theater belly laughed throughout. The movie contains no embarrassing or awkward content or innuendo, just lots of great and happy slapstick from the comedic genius of Kevin James. The plot is simple and straight forward; good guys vs bad guys. The minor bits of light violence are gratuitous and kid friendly in the manner of Wile E Coyote. Great good fun - bring your kids and laugh your head off. Better yet, let the grandparents take them and tell you about it after wards. The plot as you've probably already read is the Kevin James character being rewarded with a vacation to Vegas for his exemplary work as a Mall security guard. He brings his teen-aged daughter along for the ride and their hotel is targeted by the bad guys stealing art works from the hotel. The daughter and her newly found love interest get caught up in the heist and Blart comes to the rescue.

Not the type of movie that a lot of Schwarzenegger fans are expecting!

'MAGGIE': Four Stars (Out of Five)

An indie zombie flick, made on a budget of just $4 million, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Abigail Breslin! It was directed by first time feature filmmaker Henry Hobson and written by first time feature film writer John Scott 3. The movie is actually more of a dramatic character study, than an action or horror film, dealing with the relationship between a teenage girl, in the Midwest, and her loving father. The catch is that the girl is infected with a deadly zombie virus. It's definitely not the type of movie that a lot of Schwarzenegger fans are expecting, but I really liked it.

The story is set in a small Midwest town, where a virus, called the necroambulist virus, has broken out. It slowly turns it's victims into zombies and the government deals with the problem by throwing 'the infected' into isolation wards. Maggie (Breslin) is a young teenage girl, who was recently infected by the disease. Her father, Wade (Schwarzenegger), must do his best to care for her, in her last days, and also come to terms with what must be done, when she finally changes.

I wasn't sure what exactly to expect, going into this movie. The premise, and idea of Arnold Schwarzenegger starring in a low-budget zombie drama flick, were both very intriguing to me. I am a little disappointed it doesn't have more action, and gruesome thrills, but it is a very well made drama film. Arnold gives, arguably, his best performance to date, and Breslin is pretty impressive as well. I wish there would have been a little more to the story, than just another drama flick about a terminally ill teen, and her relationship with her friends and family. It's almost like a zombie version of 'MY SISTER'S KEEPER' or 'THE FAULT IN OUR STARS', except with a little Schwarzenegger thrown in as well. I think he's making a lot of wise career choices lately, and he's starting to resemble Clint Eastwood, more and more, with each movie. This isn't a great film but it is a nice entry in Arnold's impressively expanding resume.

Movie Review

Loneliness is a Disease

...And it brings out the worst in people. Take Ted and his dad for example. John (David Morse) is depressed and bit of a drinker, running a run down motel in a middle of nowhere, where guests arrive only by accident. Ted is a cute little blond boy, who caught an acute case of sociopathy, he's fascinated with death and very weird young man.

The running thread in this film is vast, unavoidable loneliness of the place and characters, not a healthy situation for a kid, who's getting bored and his anger for being stuck there builds slowly.

Creepy kids are often quite annoying, that's just how things are, and it's kinda hard to actually root for them but there are certain aspects of his life that can make us feel bad for Ted. At least occasionally, and for a brief moment. Mom's run away with some random guest, so he's left with the father, a decent guy but kind of lethargic and a loner himself. And the dream that he'll one day leave this miserable place and join his mother.

The pace is very slow which of course stresses the atmosphere, the actual misdeeds that we witness break away from the overall melancholy and outbursts of anger provide much needed dynamics. There are moments of tension which get slowly drowned by the tone of the film, building on leisurely drama rather than lifting the horror elements. But the finale is certainly fitting, as all we'd seen before it led to the big resolution.

This film is not particularly original, let me mention brilliant The Good Son, as a reference; but it follows the recent trend in cinema where slow burn drama dominates even straight genre work, making them seem more arty and meditative at the expense of action sequences. Making even US films like this one, seem more...I don't know...European in tone and style.

The film doesn't really dwell on the boy's nature, it doesn't raise obligatory nature vs nurture question as we are aware this boy's life is not happy. On the other hand it deals with father - son relationship a bit, making it very clear mom's absence and isolation has really affected the kid. But has it really, or did he just want to break away from boring routine where nothing happens unless you make it so yourself? "Oh well. We all do what we can not to think about life" I suppose.

The rare sequel that lives up to the legacy of its predecessor, 'Sinister 2' offers gripping suspense while amping up the shlock for a genuinely unnerving experience

Many a horror sequel fail to live up to the legacy of its predecessor because it is content to simply do the same thing over again and/or try to compensate for that familiarity by over-doing on cheap jump scares. Thankfully, 'Sinister 2' isn't that kind of sequel. As much as it places yet another family in a creepy old house with a past, there are more than enough new elements that differentiate it from the original, while at the same time remaining thematically faithful to the earlier Scott Derrickson film that was regarded as one of the better horror films of its year.

Derrickson doesn't return to direct this sequel, but he and C. Robert Cargill again assume writing duties here. Given the fate of Ethan Hawke's character at the end of 'Sinister', the duo has wisely chosen to leave his character to rest; instead, it is James Ransone's Deputy So & So who makes a comeback, the former deputy who had previously assisted Hawke's Ellison Oswalt now himself obsessed over such similar cases. Indeed, the erstwhile police officer has been tracking houses which were scenes of grisly murders accompanied by the disappearance of the families' youngest, and his own investigation has since brought him to a rural farmhouse where a mother is taking refuge with her two sons from her abusive husband.

Unbeknownst to her, the older twin Dylan (Robert Daniel Sloan) has been seeing several ghosts of young children around the house, who conspire every night to get Dylan to sneak to the basement and watch snuff movies recorded on Super 8 film of them killing their entire families. If Dylan doesn't cooperate, they promise that his nightmares won't go away – or that the demon by the name of Bughuul would be very, very upset. Their intentions only become clearer much later on, and without spoiling the surprise, let's just say that it has to do with some sibling rivalry between Dylan and his much more impetuous younger brother Zach (Dartanian Sloan).

Although casting the accursed family as a protective mother and her twin sons might seem a convenient way of appealing to audience sympathy, there is a much more ingenious reason for the conceit. Those who have seen the first movie will recall the twist near the end where each unfortunate family meets their end only after moving from a previous scene of murder to a new residence; as it turns out, Courtney (Shannyn Sossamon) is particularly inclined to moving away whether by force or volition once she is found by her husband Clint (Lea Coco) . That adds a frisson of urgency to the deputy's quest to find out more about Bughuul before her inevitable move, a personal mission which also puts him directly in evil's way.

Whereas the earlier movie was told largely from Ellison's perspective, Derrickson and his substitute Ciaran Foy opt not just to observe the proceedings from Courtney's point of view but also that of Dylan's, especially as the latter is repeatedly seduced by the seemingly innocuous exhortations of Bughuul's ghost kids. At the same time, reinstating the former's offbeat supporting character into this narrative also provides a perfect opportunity to explore the mythology of Bughuul, in particular a vital clue left behind by Professor Jonas (Vincent D'Onofrio) whom Ellison had previously consulted that points to the demon's modus operandi from more than four decades ago.

At no point do the writers nor Foy sacrifice proper storytelling for convenient scares, and aside from the unsettling moments that are meant to make you squirm (or jump) in your seat, there is a surprisingly well-developed narrative that keeps you on edge. The former however should not be under-estimated, as Foy shows more gumption than Derrickson by upping the shlock factor of the found footage – one shows an entire family being electrocuted by their son while seated in a pool of water in their kitchen, another shows a separate family buried in the snow to die of hypothermia, but the most shocking of all is that which takes place on the grounds which Courtney had moved into, which sees the family of a church minister and the minister himself being burrowed alive by rats trapped on top of their stomachs under a bowl on which rests a piece of hot coal.

Even without its predecessor's benefit of surprise, 'Sinister 2' packs plenty of suspense as it unravels the origins of Bughuul while demonstrating in detail just how each one of the missing children is exploited to recruit his very next victim. Like we said at the beginning, this sequel proves superior than most others of its ilk by being much more than just a retread of the original while showing an impressive restraint against jump scares. It doesn't hurt that it also boasts a gripping story which builds to a strong finish that reinforces the malevolence of the children who have fallen prey to Bughuul's devilish charms. Yes, it is a more than worthy sequel all right, and one that most certainly lives up to its title.

Loved this movie!!!

I wasn't expecting to get scared at all during this movie but scared I got! They had some really good jump scares! I know most scary movie enthusiasts don't like jump scares and say they are cheap but I love them because that's why I go to scary movies... To get scared! I also love how they used elements from the original but also threw in some new stuff that made it scarier than the original. I don't know why this movie got bad reviews because I loved it!!! It gave me all i am looking for in scary movies: jump scares, suspense, good acting, and having you on the edge of your seat. This is one of the better scary movies that I have seen in a while. I highly recommend going to see this movie! it is worth the money!

Good fun for the supernatural/ gore/ comedy lover

Listen if your looking for some based on true events type movie or anything that compares to the original exorcist then don't watch this. However I found the movie to be extremely entertaining. Great balance of craziness, gore, and comedy. This movie doesn't try to be something it's not. Its not the most original storyline but overall great movie! No I don't work for the production company or even know anyone affiliated with the movie. This review isn't attempting to boost the movie rating. I'm an average dude shooting straight and call it like I see it. This is definitely not a great first date movie but if you and girl/ friends like the genre you gotta check this one out. Before I watch any movie I always check the reviews and ratings but every now and again take a chance. So glad I did this time!

Nowadays Bollywood horror movies suffer a lot due to its predicted story line and failed to connect audience of today's generation. If we keep rest of the movie just concentrate on movie "Alone" same thing goes with it. As we know every movie is divided into three sections- beginning, middle and ending. Here, comes first foul in the beginning of the movie tarot card reader informs Sanjana that something lost thing of her will going to come soon. So, we can easily predicate that something wrong had happen with Bipasha Basu. That's what the rest of the story. Screenwriter failed to make a grip of suspense for audience. Like every horror movies in beginning ghost try to kill the hero till the interval film has already reached to its climax then back- story revealed and then attempt are being made to kill a ghost. The whole pattern is same for this movie "alone" The whole film is merely entertaining and scary. Many English dialogs ruin the Desi pattern. There are many repeated scene where Sanjana sleep on her bed ghost arrived we have already seen such scene in many Indian horror movies and audience well remembered the movie called "Hawa" in that movie Tabu was lead actress. I think this might be a reason why our Indian audiences prefer to watch Hollywood horror movie since its serve something new and different. Let's talk about the Exorcist, Grudge, The Conjuring the latest where we see that possessed ghost come out from the cupboard. So, something new feed to the audiences they love them, it does not mean feed anything but it is responsibility of screenplay writer to develop the sensible scene. That's hit inside audiences mind. A worst part of it, there was a scene where we see that Anjana room has been locked for many years after her death which is very common. I remember one of viewer says this room definitely going to be unlocked and her ghost will come out. See how it is easy to estimate story line, well this obvious affect other viewer later they show lack interest in that movie. Kissing scenes are injected forcefully I think just to attract mass audience especially B grade movie goers. Also, the middle of movie clearly indicated that triangle love story is going on. In the end, the same happens: sister kills sister for love. A sister's ghost comes to take revenge. After interval the movie goes very fast, unnecessarily. Last scene was torture rather than emotional. First, twist reveal it was Sanjana kills Anajana but the second twist confuse audience when Anajana confess killing of Sanjana. I remember when I was in lift I heard one of audience says if director had given permission to extend the movie might he would suppose to turn the story line by Anajana to Sanjana and whole circle go on. Oops I forget to mention that one thing about the movie to be enjoyed that's the only thing the music. This movie does not deserve anything if you want to spend nice time with your girlfriend than go and take her because you can make her laugh by funny ghost.

Ignore all the bad reviews! This movie was one funny movie. I am a huge fan of the original vacation movies and I thought this did it justice. It is much raunchier than the original one but just as funny. I am a fan of anything ed Helms does. He is one funny man! The funniest character(s) to me are the two kids. They have a role reversal, which the younger brother played brilliantly by Steele Stebbins is the bully and the older brother played Skyler Gisondo, is the older more feminine brother which is hilarious how they clash! This movie all in all was a funny movie. It ran a little long but you will leave the theater with a smile on your face. Even though I loved it, I only give it a 8 stars because the movie felt like it ran a little long.

A title that compliments the writing quite nicely

"Unfinished Business" is a landmark film for one reason and one reason only, and it's the first directorial effort by Ken Scott that doesn't have a plot or a title related to sperm. After directing both the Canadian film "Starbuck" and the American remake "Delivery Man," Scott has set his sights on another subject that, unfortunately, gets bogged down by not only its dirty-minded tendencies but its directionless comedy and narrative as well. "Unfinished Business" is a miserably unfunny film, lumbering from one situation to the next in a stumblebum fashion, making ninety minutes out to be an absolutely laborious affair on all counts.

The film focuses on Daniel Trunkman (Vince Vaughn), who quits his job after his boss Chuck Portnoy (Sienna Miller) tries to make him accept a five percent pay deduction. Just before walking out, he proclaims to his former coworkers that he is working on starting his own business and that anyone who wants to work for a fairer, more honest company should follow him out the door. He's followed by Timothy McWinters (Tom Wilkinson), an elderly man who was also just let go, and Mike Pancake (Dave Franco), a quirky, shy youngster who was interviewing for the business that same day. We fast-forward one year later, seeing the three as broke and clueless as when they started, with their only hope of achieving some income after two stagnant months is a trip to Europe to close the business deal they need in order to continue. Daniel keeps reiterating time and time again that the agreement is only a "handshake" away, but, as expected, and this goes without saying, a load of ridiculous bawdiness follows them overseas and they are left with their own wits and ridiculousness to try and make this deal work.

You may be asking yourself what business are these men in, what is their company about, and what does this insurmountable business deal consist of? You're not alone, reader; I was asking the very same questions while watching the film. Writer Steve Conrad (the same man who penned "The Pursuit of Happiness" and "The Promotion," which detailed something similar to this story in a more entertaining and empathetic way) dances around these ideas, with Daniel, at one point in the film, saying him and his two coworkers are in the business of selling "swarf," or the stray metal shavings that turn up in mass amounts following the construction of a building, a bridge, or some other societal necessity. After that point is established, none the previous questions get answered. The three men talk about how revolutionary this business deal is if it goes through, but nobody takes the time to explain its effects, the monetary impact, what the three men have been doing for the past year while their business sinks like a rock, and so on.

Conrad engages in some of the laziest screen writing I've seen, not only in a narrative sense where nothing is explained or elaborated on, but in the sense that the film never manages to be funny. It lumbers through sight gags and attempts at humor that are so frequently dead-on-arrival I wanted to check the film for a pulse. The only performer on hand that seems to be trying to create some level of character is Dave Franco, an actor I've appreciated in his last few film roles as a goofy soul who can play both clueless but confident or clueless and intimidated very well. Here, he's the latter, and he's often fun when he's responding so nervously to Daniel's requests or must recite his full name (which isn't funny, but the film keeps trying to assert that it is) in the middle of a meeting.

With that, "Unfinished Business" packs nothing but an exhausting array of failed jokes and an empty plot that its caricatures certainly can't rebound and its writing/directing team sure can't save once the cameras begin rolling. To the surprise of some, I'm sure, I defended the last two major raunchy comedies that have been released to theaters, "Hot Tub Time Machine 2" and "The Wedding Ringer," respectively, crediting them for doing their job in not only making me laugh but packing in a little extra something to their formula. "Unfinished Business" is so broken and empty that it can't pack anything extra into its story or formula because there's already so little there. It works as a perfect juxtaposition to the characters' company in the film, as it's a trainwreck that has an audience and nothing more.

Like Schumer's stand up, moment of hilarity but a personal narrative

Written by Amy Schumer with inspirations from her stand up comedy and her real life, Trainwreck is irreverently funny but completely sincere.

Amy is a monogamy-challenged magazine writer living and working in New York. She's pretty rad, and bags men often, but even though she feels pretty great about herself, something isn't working. When she's tasked to write about a sports doctor to the stars Aaron Conners (Bill Hader), she surprisingly finds herself attracted to him, in more than just a one and done kind of way.

You might think Trainwreck is going to be a raunchy comedy centered around sex, dick and vagina jokes, but it is way way more than that.

There is so much gold in Trainwreck, you almost don't know where to begin. Amy Schumer must be a creative and comedic genius to not only write a screenplay that Judd Apatow would want to direct, write parts and scenes that were so funny that she had the pick of the litter in terms of comedic actors, have a crystal clear story to bind everything together.

John Cena, Lebron James, Tilda Swinton, Ezra Miller are just some of the famous faces in Trainwreck. And don't worry, they don't partake in tired token cameos. No, they are highlights in some of the funniest scenes in the movie! Seriously, Cena and Miller, where did you come from and please come back! It all comes down to Amy Schumer's writing. Of course, it will be offensive to the faint of heart – but why anyone who is easily offended would try watching this film is beyond me. Schumer takes a stab at funerals, cunnilingus, gerontology and makes refreshing jokes on all fronts.

This is still an Apatow production, so it feels very much like all of his other films. And yes, the humor is very similar to Schumer's stand up – but it is hilarious and so appreciated! Please check out our website for full reviews of all the recent releases.

Pitch perfect was one of the best movies if you love acapella, but Pitch Perfect 2, is just as good if not better, and less about romance, and more about humor.

The personalities of each of the bellas is just perfect. The music is top notch.

Anna Kendrick has got to be the cutest non-conformist ever. Its not about being cool, or about being mean to each other through competition, its about being an individual.

Yeah, I'm sorry, it is that bad

"Fifty Shades of Grey" is based on a badly written book, so why someone thought they could make a decent film out of it is beyond me. Actually I don't think anyone believed they could make a good film, the producers just wanted the money that would come in from all people who for reasons known only to themselves read the book.

I had a free ticket and I had to go in order to do a story on it. Bottom line, I'm not doing a story on it.

Okay, here's the problem, and this is what breaks my heart. We no longer know what good or great is. I am no follower of Ayn Rand, but in The Fountainhead, she predicted the rise of mediocrity, mediocrity being considered great and the norm we shoot for. It only stands to reason that at this point, some things can't even rise to that sad level. This isn't mediocre, it's pathetic. I can't believe there are people complimenting the actors. But then I can, because they have come to accept mediocrity. Something I fight against with all my heart.

There is one other problem. The book sucked; in order to like it, one had to use his or her imagination. The success of this book lay in the fantasy aspect. Sometimes imagination is more powerful than just about anything and can give you an erotic experience. This film doesn't fulfill the most inane imagination, let alone someone who really has a wild and creative one. The only fantasy it can give you is how fast you can get out of the theater.

There were people around me laughing. The ones who weren't left, and from what I found out in the lobby, actually demanded and got their money back. When was the last time you saw people leaving a movie in the middle? I'm not sure I've ever seen it, and I'll guess I've been going to movies longer than a lot of you.

I lament the loss of artistic soul, of creativity, of going for the best. I miss the days when Billy Wilder was a writer and a filmmaker. What are we left with but a horrible book written on a first grade level and the resulting bad movie.

Not Sandra Bullock's best

Really funny movie. Lots of little quirky links to other movies, well-known music, famous people. You'd have to see it a few times to catch them all. I was somewhat disappointed at how the director chose to use Sandra Bullock's voice. I didn't find the character of Scarlett Overkill frightening enough, and as a result Sandra Bullock's voice was somewhat plain, there wasn't much sweetness versus angryness/threat in the voice, like you find with other movie villains. Scarlet Overkill's plans for the crown were crazy, but that didn't really come out. Nevertheless, I think I'll need to go again sometime. There is so much funniness in this movie.
