As always I will come straight to the point here.There will be plenty of websites which will talk about Dooars Tourism and what you should do,where you should visit during your Dooars Trip during off-season.

I wish to talk about something in detail which I was unable to find in these sites during my research.I will talk about "How you can plan your Dooars Trip during Off seasons"

This year we had set our goal to visit Lava during the Aug break and also booked tickets accordingly.But suddenly we had to change our plan as we soon began to realize that our hope of reaching lava will soon meet a dead end as it depends on our Politician's mood.As we were travelling with family we finally decided that we would got to Dooars.

Whatever little time I had in my hand before the journey date,i have utilized that time researching and preparing a short itinerary which can make up for our original trip.I will break up this article in these following sections so you can better plan you trip.

Dooars (Places to visit during off season) :

Medla Watch Tower Visit (Gorumara National Park): As you all know Gorumara National Park remains closed during monsoon,you might thinking of avoinding this place during this time.Guess what,if you happen to visit there during monsson you will be more please as the flora and fauna of the jungle will mesmerize you further.

Although all places related to Gorumara national park remain closed due to monsoon,Only one place remains open for tourists which is know as Medla watch tower.Tourist can avail a Buffalo safari to reach Medla watch tower.If you are one of those who loves nature and does not really care about wildlife sightings,trust me,you will get more than what you expect in this route.Please have a look at the below pictures to know different costs related to this "Buffalo Safari"

Samsing: If you are there in Dooars during monsoon,then visiting Samsing is a absolute must.I dont want to brag about this more and should ask you to check out the following pictures to decide for yourself.

South Khairbari Nature Park: As the whole Jaldapara Reserve remains closed for visitors for safari you may have decided to skip this during monsoon,but wait,there is one small place here which remains open during monsoon too.I am talking about South Khairbari Nature Park here.Let's just say,The place is not that bad.There are 2 Leopards & 1 Tiger in captivity as of now.

It does have its own advantages & disadvantages.Let us focus on advantage first.This nature park can help you fulfill this small but very important nature activities.These are as follows.You can also have a detailed look at what to expect in this park in my Travel Vlog Here

Nature Walk

Anticipate possible sighting (All though they are already inside a Cage)

Some important time with yourself

Introduction to different sounds of nature (If you have patience)

A possible small long drive across jungle during evening (take the alternate route while coming back)

Roads between Chalsa to Gorumara National Park: Just Wow.Thats the only i think, i am going to say.Rest I leave it to your good judgement.Enjoy this road (Specially during evening)

Murti River: What can i say about Murti river.You have to see it's actual condition during monsoon to believe it.It looks like a giant volcano waiting to erupt during monsoon thus bringing out the best in it.

Identifying the Location for Overnight Stay :

If you are visiting Dooars during monsoon,you should ideally be staying in Chalsa for its proximity towards Gorumara & Samsing and Madarihat for its proximity towards South Khairbari Nature Park.

You can alternately stay at Lataguri as well as its very close to Gorumara National Park.But i will suggest you to stay at Chalsa to visualize the might Murti river & occasional road trips to the near by jungle roads.Trust me,you will want to come back again afterwards.

P.S : As we are talking about off-season,I will not discuss about other locations situated inside Dooars region which remains closed during Monsoon.

Suggested Station for Arrival:

New Mal Junction - If you are planning to visit Chalsa/Gorumara First ( Approx 9 Km)

Hasimara - If you are planning to visit Jaldapara first. (Approx 11 Km)

NJP - If you are coming from somewhere else (Approx 58 Km from Chalsa)

Our Tour Plan:

Day 1: Pick up from NJP Railway Station and then move to Gorumara Murti Sector. Check in to Hotel & refresh. After lunch drive to visit Murti River, Khunia Jungle and then back to Hotel. Overnight stay at Gorumara Murti Sector.

Day 2 : After breakfast at 09 AM drive up to visit Samsing Laligorus View Point and then back to Hotel. After lunch drive to visit Gorumara National Park Medla Watch Tower and then back to Hotel. Overnight stay at Gorumara Murti Sector.

Day 3 : After breakfast at 08 AM check out by Gorumara Murti Sector and then move to Jaldapara. Check in to Resort & refresh. After lunch drive to visit South Khairbari Leopard Rescue Center and then back to Resort. Overnight stay at Jaldapara.

Day 4: After breakfast at 07 AM check out by Jaldapara and then drop to Bagdogra Airport.

Approx Cost Per Person for this Tour - Rs 5500 to Rs 7700 Depending on no of people in the group.

I have visited Odisha Many times and i have stayed in OTDC panthashala most of the times.This time while i was looking for a stay in Chandipur,I deliberately wanted to opt for some other hotel just to expirence the service quality of other places.As i have stayed in most of other OTDC facilities i had a fair bit of idea about all of them.So without wasting further time let me directly come to the point.

I am willing to review this hotel based on this following parameters.Do let me know if i need to add few more parameter in future.

Parameters:

Location:

Hotel Muktangan is just 400 meter away from the sea beach.You can reach there within 10 minutes depending on your walking speed.

Lodging:

The have 4 AC rooms & 5 Non AC rooms as of now.following are the prices of the rooms.

Tariff for "Hotel Muktangan" - For Booking (9831020400)

AC Room (Double Bed) - Rs 1500
Non AC Room (Double Bed) - Rs 800
Non AC Room (Four Bed) - Rs 1500

The rooms are generally clean,although i would like them to upgrade their toilet kits and bedsheets once in a while.Considering the price range,please do not expect much from this hotel expect the basic functions.

Fooding:

I must compliment them for their awesome food quality.The food will actually surprise few of you.Please find the food prices as mentioned below.

You can also purchase fish/prawn/chicken from the local market directly and ask them to prepare it for you.They will probably take Rs 200-300 as cooking charge and you are all set to dig in to these awesome dishes.

I have found both Maity Da/Sahu Da who were managing this property as gentlemen and person with good helpful nature.All their cooking stuffs were awesome and deserves a thumbs up.

If you are looking for a decent budget hotel in Chandipur and wish to have good foods.This hotel is for you.If you are looking for leisure & wish to stay just beside sea beach and need all upmarket Linens,Toilet kits ,Then I am sorry to say this hotel is not for you.

Balasore is a very important station for me or many people like us who likes to explore Odisha in detail and beyond Puri.It is about time when Odisha Tourism starts focusing on this district to promote Tourism.

I have been to Balasore few times now and each time i was able to explore different locations surrounding this awesome district.This time i went to Chandhipur and i have visited the following locations from Chandipur itself.You can plan for visiting this locations from Chandipur itself.

"Where can i go this upcoming weekend except Digha/Puri/Mandarmani/Tajpur?"...That is the most popular question which is being posted in almost all popular travel groups in Facebook.So here I am trying to find the answer of this question myself & have decided to visit Chandipur. I strongly believe that Chandipur has the capacity to attract crowds and be a best alternate destination for Bengali's who by now must have got bored by Digha/Mandarmani/Tajpur. Please read on further to know why I think it is the best go to sea beach destination, if you are looking for something else beside Digha/Mandarmani/Tajpur.

I am intentionally dividing this topic into three articles because, i wish to focus on Chandipur only in this article and you can find all details about possible sight scenes from Chandipur in a different article for which link will be given at the end of this article only.

Brief Information about Chandipur:

Chandipur is in Balasore district of Odisha and it is approximately 257.7 Km from Kolkata & 207.4 Km from Bhubaneswar.Chandipur is famous for its Magical Hide & Seek beach.Please check out all embedded videos and pictures to know more.

Nearest Railway Station : Balasore (13.8 Km)

Nearest Airport : Biju Patnaik International Airport (211.4 Km)

Possible Travel Time from Near by Capital Cities (Train/Car)

Kolkata to Balasore (By Train) - Approx 4 Hours
Kolkata to Chandipur (Car/Bus) - Approx 5.5 Hours (Via NH 16)
Bhubaneswar to Balasore (By Train) - Approx 3.30 Hours
Bhubaneswar to Chandipur (Car/Bus) - Approx 4 Hours (Via NH 16)

Please note you will cross at least 4 Tolls if you decide to travel by road Via NH 16.Approx Charge for toll will be in the range of Rs 700 to Rs 1000 depending on the type of Car/Bus to and from Chandipur

The Famous Hide & Seek Beach:

The High Tide normally comes twice a day and you can expect to meet the sea around 8-9 Am in the morning and 7-9 Pm in the evening.There can be a delay of Approx 45 mins everyday depending on various factors.

So if you plan to jump into the sea ,Please plan accordingly

Things to expect beside Sea Beach:

Goats (Expect them to behave like dogs)
2 Coconut water Shops
Few not so important shops
1 great food shop as mentioned above - Mousumi Sea Food Hotel

As the title of this post suggests,this article of mine is about few places of Raipur which i think you should Visit.I am sure,if you visit this places you will get a rough idea about what Raipur stands for.

I am recommending the following places based on my recent visit to Raipur due to Professional and Personal Commitments.As a Traveler I have made a promise to myself i will visit atleast one location every 3 months which doesn't fall under normal travel route and Raipur was first in my list.

So Here's my list of 7 Best places to visit in Raipur:

Transportation:

Ola cabs ( My recommendation)
Hire a Private Car
Public Transportation (Do not depend on these)
Rent a Scooter (Try Rentrip.in)

Food:

Go for Veg Foods (You will find Plenty)
If you are Non-Veg like me,try to opt for Veg for few days (Trust Me)

Marine Drive
Gurudwara Dhan Dhan Baba
St.Joseph's Church
St.Paul's Cathedral
Ram Mandir
Mahant Ghasidas Sangrahalaya

Apart from these you may also decide other places such as,

Ghadi Chowk (If you wish to visit the local markets)
Banarasi Pan Mandir (Some says,The best pan shop in Raipur)

Now,It is not mandatory for you to like all the above mentioned location and I myself didn't find few of those interesting.

Best Month for Visit:The best month would always be from October to February as in Summer The temperature can rise upto 40 degrees

Best Hotel Locations:You should ideally look for hotels near Raipur railway station to get the cheaper and best prices.

P.S:If you are coming to Raipur by Air,Then look for the Govt buses which is there in Raipur airport so cut down your cost.you will find scheduled AC buses from Airport to main City as airport is almost 30 Km out of the city.
