2013 Acura RDX - That’s what has happened to Acura’s RDX for the crossover SUV’s new model year. The redesigned 2013 Acura RDX is better armed to win over shoppers — it's larger, lighter and more efficient — while offering an attractive value proposition.

Acura didn't have much success with the RDX in its previous incarnation. It was reasonably priced with a slew of standard features shoppers would want in a luxury SUV, but its quirky turbocharged engine and cramped confines were deal breakers.

The 2013 has been redesigned in a number of significant ways. Not only is it larger inside and out, it's lighter, features a different optional all-wheel-drive system and, most important, there's a standard V-6 engine under the hood that's more efficient.

2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe - The Hyundai Genesis Coupe has only been with us for a few short years and already it is getting a major facelift and power updates. The new Genesis Coupe features a squashed, pointy nose with a blunt front bumper, two faux air intakes and staggered wheels for a more powerful look. The redesigned 2013 Genesis 2.0T is better in a big way, with more power and a retuned suspension, though an unflattering-sounding engine hurts the otherwise-improved driving experience.

In its first three model years (2010-2012), the Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T was not a car I could get excited about (read my review of the 2011 2.0T R-Spec here). Its poky engine and sloppy handling made it under-deliver on its billing as an affordable, rear-wheel-drive performance coupe. Fortunately, the new 2013 version brings relief. (Please note that the Genesis Coupe shouldn't be confused with Hyundai's Genesis sedan, a very different luxury model covered separately.)

2013 Chevy Sonic RS - The RS is a sportier Sonic with an affordable sticker. Yeah, we wish Chevy would cram its 2.0-liter Ecotec under the hood of the Sonic, but barring that, we'll get the Sonic RS with a 1.4-liter turbocharged four borrowed from the Chevy Cruze and good for 138 hp. No higher than $22,000 (any higher and the Sonic RS would bump up against more serious sports cars like the Subaru BRZ and probably the Ford Fiesta ST, which is still to come but should cost around $22,000).

We got our first look at the Chevrolet Sonic RS in the flesh today, unveiled alongside two Chevy concepts – the Tru 140S Concept and Code 130R Concept – at the 2012 Detroit auto show. As much as we've liked the Sonic, this version looks to hit the enthusiast bull's-eye. The Sonic RS also wears a slightly different front fascia with a new grille and fog lamps, but the change in appearance isn't all that drastic, as the base Sonic is already pretty aggressive. Other exterior kit that's exclusive to the RS includes a new spoiler and rocker moldings, a chrome exhaust tip, and a new five-spoke wheel design (though the wheels are still 17-inchers).

2013 Ram 1500 - The Ram 1500 will receive a significant refresh for the 2013 model year, and the majority of the changes are indeed more than skin-deep. That's because the 2013 Ram will hit the showroom floor with a host of powertrain upgrades, including features that have never been offered on American pickup trucks until now.

The Ram was due for a facelift, but rather than giving it a superficial makeover, Chrysler went for so many smart updates that Ford and GM will be chasing for their own answers. Start with aerodynamics, where Chrysler has altered the front wheel openings and given the truck's grille active shutters said to reduce drag by 3 to 5 percent. It added an eight-speed automatic transmission too, tied in electric power steering, and brought in start/stop technology to save gas in traffic.

Many of the Ram's new technologies speak to its fuel-saving nature, including an eight-speed automatic transmission for both six- and eight-cylinder models, stop-start, improved aerodynamics, electric power steering, grille shutters and an auto-adjusting air suspension. The air suspension is essentially a version of the setup used in the Jeep Grand Cherokee and features an Aero Mode, lowering the ride height by 1.2 inches to help cut through the wind more efficiently. Ram will also offer the Chrysler Group's 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 as the base powerplant, delivering 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. For reference, Ford rates the 2012 F-150 pickup's naturally aspirated 3.7-liter V6 at 302 hp and 278 lb-ft.

2013 Dodge Dart R/T - With the compact segment becoming ever more crowded, Dodge is getting aggressive with its new Dart. As promised, pricing on the Italian-bred sedan will start at $15,995 (*before a $795 delivery charge). That undercuts key rivals like the $16,800 Chevrolet Cruze, $16,500 Ford Focus, and $16,130 Toyota Corolla. You can still buy a Honda Civic sedan cheaper, but by only $40.Most of the new front-wheel-drive Dart models go on sale this summer, and we like what we've driven so far. But the fastest of the breed, the R/T, holds off for a fall launch.

Like its less muscular brethren, the R/T rides on a Fiat chassis borrowed from the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, with a fully independent suspension. We expect that suspension to be a little lower and stiffer in the R/T. The car will get the most horsepower of the lot, with a 184-hp 2.4-liter four under the hood.

At this point it's unclear if the R/T will come with only a six-speed manual or with a dual-clutch automatic as well. We do know that the R/T, like the Sonic RS, is going to face stiff competition from slightly pricier models, including the Ford Focus ST, the expected Fiesta ST, and the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ. Even if these sporty cars are bunched around $25,000, slightly above the Dart R/T, their performance chops could put a pinch on sales of the Dodge.

2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo - The standard Hyundai Veloster has always reminded us of that talented freshman in high school who has everything going for him but simply lacks the strength his first year out to make the coveted varsity team. The new Veloster Turbo will start at $21,950 (plus $775 destination). That represents a $2,500 premium over a similar naturally aspirated Veloster. The manual gearbox is standard fit, with the automatic adding $1,000 to the price. Opt for the Ultimate Package (bundling a navigation system with rearview camera, panoramic sunroof, automatic headlights, backup sensors and a 115-volt power outlet) and it will cost you an additional $2,500. Completely loaded, with automatic and destination included, the Veloster Turbo will set you back $26,225.

The standard Veloster, introduced at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, debuted with a direct-injected 1.6-liter four-cylinder rated at 138 horsepower and 123 pound-feet of torque. It's a respectable output for a naturally aspirated engine (86.25 hp per liter), but its 0-60 sprint in just over eight seconds certainly didn't match its sporty appearance. Enthusiasts held their collective breath for the expected turbocharged model. the Veloster lacks the performance cred to back up its killer looks. But that will change once this 201-hp version hits the streets. The 45 percent boost in horsepower has most folks taking a second look at the Veloster, and hoping this Turbo is a signal that Hyundai is getting as serious about performance as it has been about quality and design over the last few years.

McLaren MP412C Spider 2013

McLaren MP412C Spider 2013 - Last week McLaren unveiled the saliva-inducing MP4-12C Spider. We gave you all the news. We gave you the best pictures. You clicked in your hundreds of thousands. But we didn't give you video. McLaren on Thursday released a two-minute video of the 2013 McLaren MP4-12C Spider tearing up a racetrack. The 12C Spider is equipped with a 616-horsepower 3.8-liter V8 twin-turbo engine linked to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

A Volcano Red 12C Spider tackles the winding mountain roads of Andalucia in Spain. The car is driven by Mat Jackson, a McLaren test driver and British Touring Car championship driver. The video offers the first look at the MP4-12C in action, including a segment on how the car's retractable hardtop roof operates. Raising or lowering the roof takes 17 seconds. The video shows the roof lowering while the car is in motion.

The roof can be operated at speeds of up to 19 mph, the automaker said.

The Elise was introduced into the U.S., with a Toyota engine, in order to pass strict U.S. emissions laws. The 1ZZ & 2ZZ Toyota engines used have a Lotus ECU with their own fuel mapping. The supercharged Lotus SC and limited edition Jim Clark Type 25 Elise editions add a new performance dimension to the Elise range. 0–60 mph acceleration is in 4.3 seconds and 0–100 km/h in 4.6 seconds.

2013 Lotus Evora GTE - Lotus Evora GTE F1 Special Edition. The F1 Evora GTE F1 Special Edition features the Lotus F1 team’s colors and graphics, including a large Lotus insignia on the rear wing and gold finish alloy wheels. There is also a "10" logo on the vehicle to represent the number used by Kimi Räikkönen’s team mate, Romain Grosjean, this season. That engine seems to be good enough for Lotus because that is exactly what is powering their F1 Special Edition. Performance, however, should be better considering the vehicle has dropped 100kg/220 lbs.

Mercedes Benz cls63 amg 2012 - The CLS63 AMG. Called Manganit Gray Magno, the spooky hue hints at the sinister character of the CLS63, which was further confirmed by the crackling exhaust note heard as it rumbled onto the stage. The 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG is set to make its world debut at this week’s Los Angeles Auto Show, but before the live reveal the German automaker decided to share a sneak preview of its sleek new design.

Although the last CLS AMG was powered by Mercedes-Benz’ sensational 6.2-liter V8, the 2012 model makes the switch to the automaker’s latest 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8. Despite the decrease in displacement, the CLS63 AMG should offer plenty of performance, with the new mill rated at 518 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. A Performance Package will also be on offer, boosting power to 550 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque.

The AMG exterior treatment looks good on the new-for-2012, E-class–based CLS and its “four-door coupe” proportions. The aluminum hood and front fenders have been reshaped, and combine with a deeper front air dam housing twin LED light bars to give the car a wider-looking stance and a more bad-ass look in general. In back, a diffuser insert and the thinnest of rear lip spoilers should help stability while exploring the upper end of the CLS63’s speed range, which is electronically limited to 155 mph on standard versions and 186 mph on those with the optional Performance package. The gorgeous, purposeful-looking five-spoke wheels measure 19 inches in diameter and are wrapped with performance rubber measuring 255 mm wide up front and 285 mm wide in the rear.

Stunning design, superior performance and groundbreaking efficiency – that is the all-new 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG. The four-door coupe features the all-new AMG V8 biturbo engine generating an output of up to 550 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, as well as the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed Sports Transmission. Fuel economy of 16 mpg city and 21 mpg highway (esti- mated figures) represents an improvement of up to 33 percent compared with the preceding model. The 2012 CLS 63 AMG goes on sale in the US in the sum- mer of 2011.

The sporty touring also has a longer wheelbase, 1.96 inches over the previous model, as well as a wider track (front + 37 mm/1.46 in., rear + 48 mm/1.85 in.), all of these combined give the F31 Touring increased dynamics and ride balance. Despite the larger dimensions, more standard equipment and increase in torsional stiffness by ten percent, the mass weight is kept in check – depending on the model, up to 40 kilograms less than the E91 model.

2012 Citroen Grand C4 Picasso - Citroen C4 Picasso is not currently being sold in the US. The massive space and the flexible, user-friendly seating makes the Citroen Grand C4 Picasso the most practical family-ferry you can buy. Interior quality is good and forward vision is excellent.

Sloppy body control and remote steering mean the Picasso isn't great to drive, and the unconventional dash layout isn't the clearest.
Citroën Grand C4 Picasso MPV

Well-priced and -equipped seven-seat MPV with excellent diesel engines is only let down by the sloppy driving manners. Even with all seven seats in use, the Citroen Grand C4 Picasso still has some boot space.

Tucked away in a top-secret location, next to the PSA factory in the Aulnay-sous-Bois region, it comprises more than 400 vehicles in 6500 square meters of temperature-controlled warehouse. It's not open to the public, but it is awesome, so we thought you'd appreciate a virtual sneak-around.

2013 Aston Martin Vanquish - Aston Martin resurrected an icon, and we all hailed the return of the Vanquish. Clearly though, a simple re-ignition of one of Aston Martin's coolest and most revered monikers wasn't enough, so Aston set about thoroughly reworking its VH architecture and that fabulous 6.0-litre V12 engine. The new Vanquish is 25 per cent stiffer and 13 per cent lighter than the DBS which it replaces, while that V12 now produces 565bhp - up from 510bhp.

Now that luxury automaker Aston Martin has officially announced its range-topping Vanquish, based on the AM 310 concept shown at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, it’s only logical that the British luxury brand would add a Vanquish configurator to its website. Unlike other configurator sites (Ferrari's 458 Italia Spyder, for example), the Vanquish configurator (accessed by choosing "Configure" from the Vanquish page of Aston Martin's website) isn’t much of a time-suck. Prospective buyers can change paint colors, opt for “Standard” or “Carbon Fiber” trim, choose between seven wheel designs and opt for one of five brake caliper colors.

Porsche New 911 Turbo - Since the first thing you will notice about the 2013 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet in these latest spy shots is the metal roll bar behind the front seats, let us start by pointing out that this is an engineering prototype and that the production model will feature a clean design. With that out of the way, let us see what Porsche is preparing for the new turbocharged Cabriolet model.

With the 911 Turbo we showcased what is technically feasible. Nevertheless, there is always more that can be achieved. Not out of duty, but out of the passion to reach the targets we’ve set for ourselves. That’s why we’ve developed the 911 Turbo S – and given it that little bit extra.

2013 Porsche Macan - Porsche has confirmed it intends to produce the Macan, a small sport-utility based on the Audi Q5 platform that will be positioned beneath the larger Cayenne SUV. The Stuttgart-based automaker has provided a few details, including a production date of late-2013, and has released a concept drawing. Porsche Macan mules undergoing winter testing and disguised by a crafty Audi body-shell. 2013 Porsche Macan - First Look: plans are released for Porsche’s new small SUV.

Porsche confirmed that its upcoming compact crossover SUV would be called "Macan." The name is from the Indonesian word for tiger, and judging by these spy shots, the name may be apt--even if a bit odd at first blush. The latest images show the Macan testing on the Nordschleife in heavy rain, apparently at fairly high speed. Even the shots showing testing in the dry reveal very little body roll, however, indicating the Macan is already a very sporty and composed compact crossover.

2013 Porsche 911 gt3 - Development of the ‘991’ generation Porsche 911 GT3 is well underway, with prototypes of the car spotted on numerous occasions near Porsche’s headquarters in Stuttgart and at the Nürburgring and on some of the race track’s surrounding roads.Porsche's latest generation of the 911, the 991, has just recently made its way onto the scene, and, as our 2012 Best Car To Buy winner, it's excellent. But that's "just" the base Carrera and Carrera S so far--the really hot versions, including the Turbo and GT3, are yet to come.

Performance should also be pushed higher thanks to improved efficiencies inside the 3.8-liter flat six that's likely to power it. The current GT3 RS turns out 450 horsepower and weighs in right around 3,000 pounds; we expect the next GT3 to come close to those same marks, with the 2013 GT3 RS moving even farther up the supercar ladder. The car will miss out on the 4.0-liter straight-six engine found in the 997-based GT3 RS 4.0 and instead rely on the 3.8-liter six found in the regular 911 Carrera S though with output raised to around 450 horsepower.

2013 Porsche 911 Club Coupe - Porsche built its first model back in 1948 and the first Porsche Club arrived four years later. Today the company is celebrating "60 years of Porsche Clubs" with the unveiling of the special edition Porsche 911 Club Coupe. The model is based on the 911 Carrera S and will be limited to only 13 units. Prices for the US market start at $175.580.

Porsche has worked up a treat to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the first two Porsche Clubs, the first of which was founded by seven gentlemen in Westphalia, Germany in 1952, and the second started by another six gentlemen a few months later. Those few enthusiasts and two organizations have grown into 181,000 members among 640 Porsche Clubs in 75 countries. In honor of those humble beginnings, Porsche has created the 911 Club Coupe.

Using the Carrera S as a base, the Club Coupe gets the Carrera S Powerkit providing an extra 30 horsepower, taking the total to 430 hp and dropping the 0-to-100-kph sprint to 4.0 seconds. The PASM option drops the car by 20 millimeters over its 20-inch Sport Techno rims, and the Sport Design package adds a new front fascia and a ducktail spoiler out back. The work is then coated in Brewster Green paint with an Espresso interior, and finished with glossy script on the doors.

2013 Porsche 911 Targa - The 2013 Porsche 911 Targa has been caught by our spy photographers.The Porsche 911 Targa will likely be introduced early next year with sales starting shortly thereafter. Engine options should carryover from the standard model, so expect a 3.4-liter with 350 PS (257 kW / 345 hp) and 390 Nm (288 lb-ft) of torque as well as a 3.8-liter with 400 PS (294 kW / 394 hp) and 440 Nm (324 lb-ft) of torque. Both can be connected to a seven-speed manual or a seven-speed PDK transmission.

The ‘Targa’ version of the latest 991-series Porsche 911 has been spotted testing in prototype form, with engineers from Porsche attempting to disguise the car as a regular convertible model. The soft-top roof fitted to the prototype is a ruse to hide what’s underneath, namely, a fixed center roll bar similar to the one that debuted on the first 911 Targa all the way back in 1967. Other than the roof system, the new Porsche 911 Targa should essentially be the same as the 911 Carrera or Carrera S, depending on whether the sportier option is chosen.

2013 Mini Cooper S - The mainstay of Mini's lineup looks set to grow in size as it merges platforms with BMW's next 1-series. Mini’s upcoming hardtop isn’t as inappropriately named as is Mountain Dew—seriously, on what mountain does Hi-Liter-colored sugar water condense?—but when the next generation of the hatchback arrives in 2013, it’s going to be rather less mini than it is today.A brand new generation of the MINI Cooper is just around the corner, and that means replacements for all the different variants including the sportier S and John Cooper Works trims, as well as new versions of the Clubman, Countryman and all the other bodystyles MINI is now offering.

However, according to a new report there may be some changes in store for the upcoming MkIII MINI Cooper range. The biggest change, according to Autocar, will be the introduction of a regular five-door MINI Cooper, possibly as the new Clubman. Aimed at families with small children who still want to own a MINI but don't want to upsize to something like the MINI Countryman, the new car would feature four conventional doors and a rear tailgate. MINI is hoping the increased flexibility will make the new Cooper appeal to a wider audience and boost sales beyond last year’s tally of roughly 285,000 units. Note, despite the additional set of doors, the rear seats will still only be suitable for small children so parents with a couple of teens best look elsewhere or at least have a second car if a MINI is a must.

2013 Mini Paceman - The new boss of Mini Australia says the British brand will add a seventh model to its local line-up in 2013 and promises there are plenty more to come in the future. Mini Australia general manager Kai Bruesewitz confirmed the production version of the Mini Paceman concept will be the next all-new model line to be added to the range.

The Paceman is a two-door concept coupe that debuted last year, and our sources say it's a lock for production. Mini will have to work hard with this model, though, which is essentially the forthcoming Countryman minus two doors. The Paceman should either get real horsepower and ride considerably lower than the Countryman (think: a big version of the Mini Cooper S, but with all-wheel drive), or be made even more all-road capable than the Countryman, as a rival to the likes of the Subaru WRX—of course in full rally-car livery. Mini Paceman will launch its seventh model – a two-door version of the Countryman crossover – at the Paris Motor Show later this year, and our trusty spy photographers recently spotted this prototype out testing. Many sources have stated that the car will be dubbed Countryman Coupe when it hits the market, but we've also heard rumors that the vehicle will wear the Paceman name that was given to the original concept that debuted at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show.

Now Chevy has announced that ZL1 thump will be available in ragtop form, too—and that it won’t be diluted. As such, the Camaro ZL1 will become the most powerful convertible ever to wear a bow tie.

Not only does the new ZL1 get a ridiculous amount of muscle good for 0 to 60 runs in the low 4-second range, but it also benefits from revised front and rear dampers as well as antiroll bars. Finally, then, the $54,995 Camaro ZL1 is starting to fulfill its potential to offer supercar driving at a price that more than the 1 percent can afford. Even better: These same revisions will trickle down to the more affordable $31,930 Camaro SS.

2013 Toyota Prius C - The Prius revolution is officially on at Toyota dealers, where shoppers will soon find four times the number of Prii on offer. The 2012 Toyota Prius C in a new video review that urges car shoppers to get a used regular Prius over the new baby model, "it's a much better car overall," said Mike Quincy in the review. At Toyota they have another idea, where C is not for Cookie, it's not for Car and it's not for Compact. In the latest addition to the Prius family, C is for City.

2013 Toyota Prius C at this year's North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Toyota debuted an entire line of Prius models, including the intriguing Prius C Concept. They still stress that this is a concept, but a small, sporty hybrid hatchback is surely on its way. We can merely hope Toyota is smart enough to retain these design cues, especially as this is meant to be a "fun to drive" hybrid with taut handling and a sub-$20K price. Toyota is promising the highest mileage of any hybrid on the road that isn't a plug-in.
