Petta (lit. Hood) is an upcoming 2019 Tamil-language action film written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Kalanithi Maran under his production studio Sun Pictures. The film stars Rajinikanth with an ensemble cast including Vijay Sethupathi, Simran, Trisha, M. Sasikumar, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bobby Simha, J. Mahendran and Guram.

Principal photography began in June 2018. The first schedule of the shoot began on 7 June at Eastern Forest Rangers College at St. Mary’s Hill, Kurseong in Darjeeling, with the initial portions lasting nine days. The team then shot in other location across Darjeeling and the hill towns for a further month, in locations including St. Paul’s and Mount Hermon School. To finish the first schedule, the team returned to Kurseong for six days. An audition to cast 150 local actors was also held in Charbagh, Lucknow during the first schedule.During the making of the schedule, Rajinikanth met with politician Gautam Deb, who helped the makers have a hassle free shoot in exchange for the promotion of tourism in the area.Principal photography wrapped in October 2018, fifteen days ahead of schedule.

On 25 December Sun Pictures announced 28 December as the trailer release date of the film. Taran Adarsh tweeted. Launching new look poster of the film Sun Pictures official handler on tweeter gave the trailer release time on 28 December.

Petta is scheduled to be released on 10 January 2019, during the Pongal weekend.

Viswasam (lit. Loyalty) is an upcoming 2019 Indian Tamil language action film written and directed by Siva. The film features Ajith Kumar and Nayanthara in lead roles. Produced by Sathya Jyothi Films, the film was officially announced on November 20, 2017 and principal photography began in May 2018. The film is scheduled to release on Pongal 2019. The first look of the film was released on 23 August 2018.

The collaboration between Sathya Jyothi Films director Siva and Ajith Kumar was announced via the studio's official Twitter handle in late November 2017, after months of speculation on Ajith's next project. Nayanthara was announced as the lead actress in early February 2018.. D.Imman was signed on to work as the film's music composer which marked his first collaboration with Ajith and Siva. This would be Yogi Babu's 100th film as actor.

Principal photography was supposed to begin on 23 March 2018,but was severely delayed due to the Tamil Film Producers Council's strike. It eventually began on 7 May at Hyderabad, and wrapped in November 2018 and is waiting for its release for Pongal 2019.

Thugs of Hindostan is a 2018 Indian epic action-adventure film, written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, and produced by Aditya Chopra under his banner Yash Raj Films. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Lloyd Owen. Set in 1795, the film follows a band of Thugs led by Khudabaksh Azaad, who aspires to free Hindostan (the Indian subcontinent) from the rule of the expanding British East India Company. Alarmed, British commander John Clive sends a small-time Thug from Awadh, Firangi Mallah, to infiltrate and counter the threat.Thugs of Hindostan is set to be released during the week of the Diwali[a] festival, on 8 November 2018.

Produced on an estimated budget of ₹300 crore (US$42 million), Thugs of Hindostan is the most expensive Bollywood film. Initially titled Thug, the film marked the first time Khan and Bachchan featured together as leads, and was the second collaboration between Khan, Acharya and Kaif, after Dhoom 3 (2013). Principal photography commenced on 5 June 2017 in Malta; the film was also shot in Thailand and Mehrangarh. It was put on a short hiatus after Bachchan was injured on set. Filming concluded in March 2018, the final schedule being completed in Rajasthan. The soundtrack was composed by Ajay-Atul, with lyrics written by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

Sarkar (English: Authority) is an upcoming Indian action drama film starring Vijay, Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Yogi Babu and Radha Ravi. The film is directed by A. R. Murugadoss, co-written by Jeyamohan with music composed by A. R. Rahman, cinematography by Girish Gangadharan, edited by Sreekar Prasad and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner Sun Pictures.
The film began production in January 2018, and is scheduled to be released in November 2018, coinciding with Diwali.

Following the successful ventures, Thuppakki and Kaththi, A. R. Murugadoss has confirmed to be the director of the 62nd film of actor Vijay. The project, tentatively titled Vijay's 62, was slated to enter production once Vijay completes Mersal and A. R. Murugadoss completes Spyder.

Sarkar's basic story outline has been the topic of discussion all over social media in the past couple of weeks and it's quite a simple one. A super successful NRI returns to India to cast his vote in the election but turns out it has already been cast illegally by someone else. What does he do to regain his right?

So the idea is established right from the word go. There is no time wasted in introducing the hero and his biggest conflict. But the problem with the film starts right there too. Every second scene is a build-up that mostly doesn't serve its purpose. The high point takes a beating after the build-up that one could find pretentious. The first half travels with the story finding expression but with a lot of filler scenes that seem artificial.

We have seen AR Murugadoss handle stories that might seem superficial on the outset, with a larger than life hero. This is somewhat of the same kind and the scale is bigger, but the screenplay in the first half falls short, not managing to meet the demands at all points. The pretentiousness of the screenplay is shown in a swearing-in ceremony scene in the first half. And at many places in the screenplay, the logic is questionable.

However, with an exponentially better second half, ARM works his way out by scoring in scenes that will connect with the audience in a more personal way. AR Rahman's background score in the first half could seem quite functional, but he makes up for it with a superb score in the second half. Girish Gangadharan's cinematography is decent and gels well with the film's mood. Sreekar Prasad proves his expertise in the cuts, but there are numerous scenes that don't quite fit in the scheme of things. Ram-Laxman's stunt choreography is slick and their job is commendable.

With regards to performances, we have Pala Karuppiah and Radha Ravi convincingly playing grey politicians. Varalaxmi sticks to one expression throughout the film and it might not convince the majority. Like most of ARM's other films, the heroine comes off just as a sidekick and Keerthy's role falls in that zone with barely any scope to show off her skills.

The engagement factor could take a big hit in the first half but it works better in the latter half of the film. 164 minutes might seem to be a tad bit longer. The placement of Simtaangaran and OMG Ponnu might irk the audience that looks for progress in the story. The dialogue portions are high in number and like most of Murugadoss's other work, they give out messages with a lot of attention to detail.

At the end of it all, there is just one man who completely steals the show. Vijay's charisma, screen presence and charm are absolutely brilliant. He carries his role with style and grit. He has a few performance-demanding scenes that he aces. Yet, his style of delivering certain dialogues has become a little monotonous. We can find shades of Kaththi that reflect in this film as well.

On the whole, Sarkar can be watched to feel well connected to what our state has been fed within the past so many years, politically. Vijay leads this Sarkar effortlessly.

Verdict: Sarkar is Vijay's strong political voice for a change! Screenplay could have been more engaging and crisper, specially in the first half. But Go for it, this deepavali season.

PLOT:

Coming to the plot of the film, Neeraj Pandey has conceived the film around the life of M S Dhoni from his childhood till date! How a common guy named Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Sushant Singh Rajput) hailing from Ranchi realises his dream and the hurdles he goes through while achieving his only dream form the crux of the story.
The script highlights the journey of a budding cricketer becoming the most successful Captain of Indian Cricket Team.

What hindered his dream of becoming a national level cricket player? And in spite of having such a big dream, how did he end up as a ticket collector? The film also reveals that unknown reason that brought Dhoni back to the sport.

Apart from his struggling days, the plot of the film also throws light on the tragic love life of Dhoni and how yet again, he found the love of his life in Sakshi (Kiara Advani). How Dhoni met Priyanka Jha, his ex-girlfriend (Disha Patani) and how an unfortunate incident changed Dhoni's life forever! In the second half of the film.

Neeraj Pandey has unveiled Dhoni's equation with his teammates and many inside details related to dressing room talks and cricket politics, which are finite details you desperately want to know.

PERFORMANCES:

'Sushant Singh Rajput is an average actor,' if you're one of those, who used to say that, be ready to eat your words. You won't stop raving about this extremely hardworking actor after watching this film! There isn't a single second in three-hour long film, where Sushant lost the grip.

From Dhoni's body language to his typical tone, from those long hair to the helicopter shot, Sushant Singh Rajput has nailed it!

His genuine acting throughout the film is the solid proof for how dedicated this actor is and no one could have pulled out this legendary character on-screen better than Sushant! On the other side, the leading actresses of the film, Kiara Advani and Disha Patani have done a good job.

Disha & Sakshi, both plays the love interests of the Dhoni and their chemistry with Sushant is very fresh and balanced. The film also marks the comeback of Bhoomika Chawla, who plays the character of Dhoni's sister and it was delight to see her after a long time on-screen. Actor Anupam Kher, who plays the role of Dhoni's stern father is the perfect choice and even in the little screen space, his acting is on point!

TECHNICALITIES:

Having said that the performances are brilliant, one can't take away the fact that the duration of the film might play the mood spoiler for you. Sitting through three-hour long movie is not an easy feat, especially when movies these days hardly cross two hours. However, Neeraj Pandey has shot the film amazingly, but there are a few minutes where he loses the crispness leaving the audiences bored.

Songs and picturization is just average but then this is a biopic not a Karan Johar movie. So, you can easily ignore this! The helicopter shot by Sushant will actually give you goosebumps and an impression that you are watching a live match in the stadium. And yes, the director scores the brownie points.

VERDICT:

Overall, it's a different experience to watch the struggles and lesser-known truths about Dhoni's life. This movie is one of a kind and it's an instant 'Yes' from our side!

The 21-year-old Thangavelu cleared a jump of 1.89 metres to strike gold on Friday (September 9).

Thangavelu is the first Indian to win a gold in Paralympics high jump. It was a memorable event for India as another athlete - Varun Singh Bhati took bronze. USA's world champion Sam Grewe took the silver. India's another high jumper Sharad Kumar cleared 1.77 metres but finished 6th.

Both Varun and Grewe cleared 1.86 metres but the American took 2nd place on count-back. This is the first time 2 Indians had finished on the podium in the same event. In Paralympics history, this is India's 3rd gold after Murlikant Petkar (swimming in 1972 Heidelberg, West Germany) and Devendra Jhajharia (javelin throw in 2004 Athens)

India now has two medals - gold and bronze at the ongoing Paralympics. Thangavelu opened India's medal tally. The T-42 classification is for athletes with lower limb deficiency, leg length difference, impaired muscle power or impaired range of movement. At the Rio Olympics 2016, which concluded on August 21, India claimed 2 medals - silver and a bronze.

Reliance Jio 4G vs Airtel 4G Tariff Plans Compared & Validity

The most awaited news of the Official launch of the Reliance Jio is finally here. Yes, it is finally here in all its glory, and now it looks like Reliance has given enough reasons for consumers to get their SIM cards and join the network.

In case you missed all the action that happened this morning, then you should check out the official Reliance Jio announcement first and see what all they are offering. Now with that being said, let’s talk about the tariff plans which Reliance is offering and see how it fairs well against some of the competitions in the country.

If you take a look at the tariff plans, then you will notice that it doesn’t make any sense to compare all the tariff plans with others for voice calls, messages, etc. Why? Because is Reliance is offering all that for free. And no this is not just for the preview offer, but for the lifetime. So no more paying for voice calls or messages.

That leaves us only data charges and that’s exactly what we are going to discuss here today. So starting things off, let’s compare the data packs which Reliance is offering with some of the offerings from Bharti Airtel.

Airtel is one of the oldest and biggest player in the telecom industry and hence now we will see how Reliance is going to survive against them. First of all, check out this speed comparison video which we did earlier, when the Reliance Jio was rolled out initially.

Talking about Airtel’s data plans, the company offers different plans according to the region where you reside. When you talk about Reliance Plans, the base plans starts from as low as 149 INR and goes all the way up to 4999 INR. Users have the flexibility to select which one they want and accordingly you can go ahead and select it. Whereas on the other hand, Airtel offers data plans from starting from 19 INR and goes all the way up to 3249 INR (including combos also). So talking about each and every tariff plan won’t make sense. So let’s discuss some of the plans that might suit your needs and see which one gives you more value for the money.

Mukesh Ambani has now officially announced the Reliance Jio 4G Plans, along with Free All India voice calls & Roaming. The “JIO Welcome Offer” will be offering all the services for free till 31st December.

Validity

When we talk about the validity of these packs, Reliance straight up gives 28 days validity for all its plans. So even you are buying a 150 INR plan, you will be able to use it for 28 days until you exhaust it completely. And same goes with the 4999 INR plan also. And when you talk about Airtel plans, then you get the 19 INR plan with 2 days of validity with 80MB of data. So essentially you are being forced to exhaust the data here.

Airtel also offers 115 INR plan with 285MB of data with same 28 days validity. There is also another plan which will give you 1GB of night data plan as well which will cost you 125 INR. But do make a note that Reliance is offering you free unlimited 4G night data with any plans ranging from 499 INR to 4999 INR.

Another plan that Airtel offers is 989 INR, which will get you 10GB unlimited data for 28 days. But again, you will be paying charges separately for voice calls, messages, etc. So, the 999 INR plan from Reliance is the best one here as it will get you 10GB data plus unlimited night data along with 20GB of data via Wi-Fi hotspots.

Most Expensive Plan :

The most expensive data plan which Airtel offers here in Andra Pradesh costs 1855 INR. Do make a note; we are just comparing data packs only, and no combo packs are taken into consideration. So this plan will get you 15GB unlimited data @ 4G LTE speeds post which you will be browsing with limited speeds up to 28 days.

And when you compare this with the most appropriate plan with Reliance for the same price, then you can get the 1499 INR plan. This will get you 20GB of data with unlimited night 4G data and up to 40GB of data via Wi-Fi hotspot. Yes, all this for just 1499 INR. This pretty much makes it way easier to choose. Note that this is not the most expensive plan from Reliance Jio.

Best data plan for an average internet user :

This one is very easy to pick. Depending on your needs, you can select one. But we believe that the ‘M’ plan which is 499 INR will be the best option as it will give you 4GB of internet data along with unlimited night data and 8GB of additional data via Wi-Fi hotspot. All this for 28 days. And if you look for a similar plan in Airtel, then you can get the 655 INR plan, which will get you 5GB of data @ 4G LTE speeds. So when you compare solely on value for money, then definitely Reliance is going to be better.

However, do make a note of these points below :

The data plans from Airtel compared above are for Andra Pradesh circle only. You can go to Airtel’s official website and check for data plans in your circle. But all the plans and their values are more or less similar.
Also, we have been using the Jio SIM for about 3-4 months now and sadly we were not able to initiate a voice call with any other mobile network from a Jio network.
The data connectivity is not consistent at all time and all places. It will fluctuate depending on where you are and what the surrounding coverage situations are.

So if you are planning to do an MNP from other networks like Airtel then you should definitely consider all these points. And when you talk about Airtel’s coverage and data connectivity right now, then you can safely bet that it is way better than Reliance.

So do consider all these points and choose a network that suits you best. Ultimately, consumers are the end users who will get the benefits

Soon -- or rather on September 5 to be precise -- everyone in India with a phone that supports 4G technology will be eligible for the Jio Welcome Offer from Reliance. This means you will get a Jio SIM for free along with the benefits that come with it. What are these benefits? The benefits are "unlimited" data, calls and messages for almost three months. Although there is a fine print in all this -- the unlimited data is actually 4GB per day, which too is generous -- it is safe to say that the offer is fairly amazing. And tempting. No wonder, a lot of people are going to get the free SIM.

The problem is that in many phones that people have right now, the Jio SIM is not going to work. And in many, where it is supposed to work, it may not work until you troubleshoot it. But before we come to that, don't get the Jio SIM if:

-- You have a feature phone.

-- You have a phone that only supports 2G or 3G. Even some high-end phones that are older than 2 years -- Xiaomi Mi 4 for example -- doesn't support for 4G.

-- You have only one phone and you are not willing to change your phone number.

-- You have a Dual-SIM phone but 4G is supported on only one SIM and you are not willing to move your existing SIM card out of it.

Now, that we have taken care of these basics, let's look into the problems you may face after you put in the Jio SIM in your phone. The good bit about the Jio SIM is that it is a nano SIM with the micro and Full size adapters in built. So, see which size will fit your phone and then accordingly use the adapter. If you have a phone bought this year, chances are that it will use nano or micro size.

The SIM is not Recognised :

-- If this is the problem you face, ensure that you are putting the SIM in a 4G compatible slot. In many dual-SIM phones, only the primary slot -- the number 1 slot is the full-speed, fully supported SIM slow. So, put the Jio SIM in that.

-- Restart your phone.

-- Take out the SIM and put it again.

-- Even after all this the SIM card doesn't work, chances are that the Jio SIM won't probably work with your phone.

SIM Recognised but No Signal :

-- Ensure the SIM is in the primary SIM slot (slot 1) if your phone has dual-SIM functionality.

Reliance Jio went official yesterday at Reliance's 42nd General Meeting in Mumbai. Mukesh Ambani took to the stage to announce Jio's 4G data plans and other tariffs. While the Jio plans have already taken the market by storm, the rival telecom operators like Airtel and Vodafone have cut down on tariffs too.

It's a different thing to fall for words like "no call charges", "free internet" and "no blackout", but the reality could be different. Reliance Jio's plans start at Rs 19 and go up to Rs 4,999. Here's a complete comparison of 4G services offered by Reliance Jio and its rivals.

Lowest plans:

Reliance Jio: The lowest plan in Reliance Jio will cost you Rs 19. For this sum you get 100MB of 4G data along with unlimited STD and local calls, unlimited messages. The plan is valid for 1 day.

Vodafone: The Rs 12 prepaid plan by Vodafone gives users 50MB of 4G data. But unlike Jio, there are no calling or messaging benefits.

Airtel: Airtel's lowest plan will cost you Rs 23 for 3 days. It will give you 90MB of 4G data and nothing else.

Rs 199 vs Rs 102 vs Rs 145:

Reliance Jio: The Rs 199 plan in Jio has a validity of 7 days. And in return it gives you 750MB of data along with 1.5GB of JioNet Wi-Fi. No limits on voice calls and messages apply on this plan too.

Vodafone: Vodafone charges Rs 102 for the 10 days plan. This will give you 300MB of data.

Airtel: The Rs 145 plan will be valid for 14 days and give users 580MB of 4G data to consume. No voice calls and messages benefit.

Reliance Jio: Jio's Rs 299 plan is valid for 21 days and comes with 2GB data along with 4GB JioNet Wi-Fi consumption.

Reliance Jio: This plan offers 4GB of data valid for 28 days. It also has 8GB of JioNet Wi-Fi usage.

Vodafone: At Rs 499, Vodafone offers 2GB of data. In addition, it also gives the users 700 minutes of voice calling and 500 SMS.

Airtel: Airtel gives 3GB of 4G data at Rs 455. This plan doesn't come with any additional benefits.

Rs 999 vs Rs 999 vs Rs 949 and more:

Reliance Jio: Jio takes the lead in this price segment as well. The Rs 999 plan gives users 10GB data and 20GB JioNet Wi-Fi access.

Vodafone: The Rs 999 plan benefits users with 3GB of data, 2,000 calling minutes, and 500 messages for a month. Vodafone doesn't have any plans above this price segment.

Airtel: Airtel has two plans that look similar but have a slight difference in this segment. The Rs 949 plan 1GB of data, 100 messages per day and unlimited local voice calls. The other plan which costs Rs 1,199 has the same benefits but also gives unlimited local and national voice calling minutes.

Rs 1,499 vs Rs 1,599:

Reliance Jio: This plan gives 20GB data along with 40GB of JioNet Wi-Fi usage.

Airtel: The myPlan Infinity costs Rs 1,599 and gives 5GB of data, 100 messages per day, and unlimited local and national calls.

Rs 2,499 vs Rs 2,999:

Reliance Jio: This plan from Reliance Jio offers 35GB of data along with 70GB JioNet usage.

Airtel: The Rs 2,999 plan is the highest that Airtel offers. It gives a user 20GB of data along with 100 messages per day and unlimited local and national calls.

Airtel doesn't offer any plans above this price tag. Reliance Jio, on the other hand, has a Rs 3,999 and Rs 4,999 plans. It offers 60GB data plus 120GB JioNet usage for Rs 3,999. For Rs 4,999, Reliance Jio gives 75GB data along with 150GB JioNet data usage.

Winner: Reliance Jio is the winner in this comparison hands down. But it doesn't stop there. Once you've consumed the data limit of the plan Airtel and Vodafone will charge you 4p/10kb, or Rs 4 per MB of data consumption. On the other hand, Reliance Jio will charge 5p/MB above data limit, which means only Rs 50 per GB of data!

This pricing is as aggressive as it can get. We are assured this will tip the market in Jio's favour but for how long can the company deliver good service is something we'll know in the coming months.

Performance

Though the versatile actor Mohanlal has made an impressive performance in the Koratala Siva-directorial venture, the 'complete actor' seems to be incomplete without his own voice as it has been given by a dubbing artiste.

Through Anand, "Janatha Garage" delivers a strong message, asking each of us to serve Mother Earth by protecting nature in all the best ways possible. If a person bursts a cracker causing pollution or if a businessman wants to build a township by destroying a park, Anand reacts as an environmentalist, and fights — verbally and physically — to take care of nature. But too much of love for nature can also be irritating at times for viewers, even if you are an environmentalist.

The usual one-man show stunt sequences where Jr. NTR fights without even shedding a drop of blood are sure to enthral his ardent fans. But there is a scene in which Anand is seen attacking police officers too. Is it possible in real life? Such sequences are part of Young Tiger's action thrillers.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu is more than just a good looking and glamorous actress, and her short stint has once again entertained the audience with the good on-screen chemistry with Jr. NTR. Though seen in only a few scenes, Nithya Menen has also delivered a natural performance opposite the young star. As Mohanlal's son Raghav, Unni Mukundan proves to be a promising actor in his debut Tollywood project in a negative character. Sachin Khedekar, who plays a successful businessman struggling to make a few of his dreams come true because of Sathyan, deserves applause for his convincing performance. The other actors, including Brahmaji, Ajay, Sithara, Saikumar Pudipeddi and Devyani, have also done justice to their roles.

Technical aspects

The background score is spot on, matching the situations of the movie. From "Pranaamam," "Rock On," "Apple Beauty," "Jayaho Janatha," "Nee Selvadigi" and "Pakka Local," all the songs of the movie are impressive. The peppy numbers, especially "Apple Beauty" and Kajal Aggarwal's "Pakka Local," are a delight to watch for the audience, with beautiful choreography and colourful visuals. The cinematography by Tirru is a visual treat, and the "Rock On" song has especially captured the beauty of the Athirappally waterfalls in Kerala.

Drawbacks

One of the major drawbacks of "Janatha Garage" is its slow narration. There were many portions that could have been cut short and better editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao could have made it a crisper entertainer.

Final Take

"Janatha Garage" is an action thriller that also gives equal importance to family relationships and emotions. The main topics narrated in the movie are protection of environment and the well-being of common man. Both Mohanlal and Junior NTR get equal prominence in the movie that is sure to impress both the Telugu and Malayalam audience. However, the duration, which is nearly three hours, makes the movie slightly weary at times. The Koratala Siva-directed film is a one-time watch for the notable performance of the lead actors.

Akira is an upcoming Indian action drama film co written, produced and directed by AR Murugadoss. It is the remake of Tamil film Mouna Guru (2011) and features Sonakshi Sinha in lead role.

Story :

The story initially, revolves around the life of a hot-head Kumari Akira Sharma (Sonakshi Sinha), who always find it difficult to adjust herself with the society. Owing to her over-aggressive nature, her mother and brother convince her to pursue her higher studies away from her hometown, Jodhpur.

That's how Akira Sharma lands up in Mumbai. For her, controlling anger is next to impossible; and even there, she picks a fight with her hostelmates and ends up in major trouble.

Meanwhile, there is one more character in the film, around the whom the plot of the story revolves. It's the corrupt Police Officer played by Anurag Kashyap, who witnesses an accident along with his Sub-Inspector.

When he is about to take the victim to a nearby hospital, he comes across a huge stash of cash. Out of greed, rather than helping the victim, he kills him on the spot and flee to Mumbai with the money! Now, how Akira gets stuck in this crime plot and what she does to prove herself innocent, forms the crux of the story!

Performances :

Let's take a moment to appreciate Sonakshi Sinha's guts to this film. And let us tell you that throughout the film, the lady has shown full confidence in her acting as she knows, she is doing an amazing job! We totally loved the badass avatar of Sonakshi in the film.

What amused us the most, is how she excels in different emotional frames like a pro! No need to say that her high-octane action sequences are the major highlights of the film and she sizzles in those frames!

On the other hand, Anurag Kashyap is quite impressive in the film as well and is showing just the kind of menace that is expected from a villain. Konkana Sen, who appears more in the second half of the film, has done justice to her serious character and it's always a delight to see her on-screen!

Technicalities:

While we loved seeing Sonakshi Sinha kicking some serious butts, we can't take away the fact that some scenes were just too exaggerated! There were a few sequences in the film, where we felt that action sequences should have been shot from a woman's perspective.

A R Murugadoss is one talented director and overall he has done a good job in re-launching Sonakshi in a rebellious avatar! However, the plot of the film fails to command our interest at a stretch.

Amidst the shabbily cut scenes, the overdone actions and violence, we feel that the editing team too, lacked crispiness or they didn't do their homework properly! Apart from Anurag Kashyap, songs of the film also play the villain of the film! No matter how serious the storyline is, audience wants a refreshment and here, the songs take a backseat.

No matter whether you are a Sonakshi Sinha fan or not, we suggest you to watch Akira, only and only for her career best performance! More power to you, Sona!

He won two national awards for the songs "Ananda Yazhai Meetukiral" in "Thanga Meengal" and "Azhage Azhagu" in "Saivam".

Two-time national award-winning lyricist Na. Muthukumar succumbed to jaundice in Chennai on Sunday. He was 41 and is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

He first won the award for the song Aananda Yazhai Meetukiral in the filmThangameenkal and the second award was for the song Azhage Azhagu inSaivam.

"In my opinion he had the calibre to achieve great heights in Tamil literature. But film industry reduced the space for his creativity," said director N. Alagamperumal. Na. Muthukumar wrote most of the songs for his film Dum Dum Dum and all of them were hits.

"He is a friend and we would have a chat over phone once a week. I love his lines Un Perai Sonnale Ul Naaku Thithikkume, Nee Yenkey Nee Yenkey and Desingu Raja Desingu Raja," said Mr. Alagamperumal.

Later, he wrote for films of Selvaragahavan and the song Niniathu Ninaithu Parthen in 7G Rainbow Colony became one of the evergreen film songs. His Anil Aadum Mundril, a poetic narration published in Tamil weekly Ananda Vikatan, proved his grip with the language and close observation of Tamil life.

"It was writer Sujatha who first introduced his poem Thoor in a meeting organised by Kanaiazhimagazine. He introduced images of modern poetry in films songs, which is achieved by very few writers. He excelled both as a lyricist and a poet and he achieved great heights in a short span of life in a highly competitive world," said poet Manushyaputhiran.

He further explained that at a time when music directors dominated the film world, Muthukumar secured a space for poetry and meaningful lines and also an identify for himself.

Muthukumar entered the film world with a dream of becoming a director and worked as an associate for Balumahendra. "But his knowledge in Tamil language and literature led him to the area of song-writing and he first wrote for director Seeman's film Veeranadai," said writer Suka, who also worked with Balumahendra.

A native of Kancheepuram, Muthukumar is also a distant relative of DMK founder C.N. Annadurai, "He studied in Pachaiappa's college and was shaped by his father Nagarajan who was a voracious reader and had a great collection of books," said lyricist Palaini Bharathi.

DMK leader M. Karunanidhi condoled his death, saying he was shocked by the sudden demise of the lyricist.
