If Bruno Mars will propose to you, while singing his crazy yet catchy "Marry You" will you say "yes"? Well, Amy Frankel, the girl featured on this video really did but no, not to Bruno but to her boyfriend, Isaac Lamb.

Invited to dinner at Isaac's parent's house, Amy came while she was maneuvered by Isaac's brother to sit at the back of an open CRV with headphones on just as instructed. He was to play her something.

Then, "Marry You" was played, and Amy was giggling and laughing and crying at the same time, all feeling giddy inside when friends and family started to spring out from nowhere acting to the tune and dancing. Good thing that everyone seem to have a background with a talent like this one as the couple themselves met ages ago on a local West Side Story audition. Needless to say, Amy was swept off her feet as an endearing groom-to-be, Isaac, traditionally went down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage.

Facebook Camera slowly kisses Instagram goodbye

Facebook has bought Instagram for a couple of millions of dollars well, a hefty billion to be exact but there's no stopping FB from coming up with another mobile app as closely similar to that of Instagram. You'll get to wonder what's the point in that really.

Called the Facebook Camera , a 4.9MB app , and still a photo sharing app but this time, it's made even faster in a feed of merely just a focus on your photos as well as your friends'. With Camera, you can easily post as many pics as you want at any place at the same time in just a single upload with plenty of filters that you can choose from including Insta's if not the vintage feel but the lo-fi look.

In as much as FB people stresses that Camera and Instagram are separate apps serving their own purpose, apparently, way before the Insta purchase, Camera was already on its way to Facebook. But then, somehow, a threat was imposed by Instagram as they've proven and made a hot spot in the mobile photo sharing. Hence, the purchase.

While voice recognition technology is not new among android and smartphones, it is on cars! Well, that is, if you haven't got that Ford yet in your garage with the Sync application along with it that actually spells the same when talking about this voice tech.

Anyway, Dragon Drive was launched from Nuance Communications so you can make your wheels smart too. But not your current car however, as they're still looking for manufacturers where to incorporate this voice platform.

But for interested car gadgeteers, Dragon Drive will allow its drivers to text and email by merely speaking. No hands needed while driving. Voice commands will also support several languages and will add up some more in time.

According to Mike Thompson, Nuance Mobile Division's EVP, a driver will just have a normal chat with his car while connected to a 3G or 4G, and through a cloud-based language server, Dragon Drive will perfectly understand your commands.

Microsoft's So.cl launches after FB's creator tied the knot?

Maybe it's just a coincidence for Microsoft's experimental social networking project a.k.a the So.cl- that's short for Social, to be unveiled practically the day after Priscilla Chan officially became Mrs. Zuckerberg. Was it to add friends like in Facebook or something? Well, no one can say. But one thing's for sure though, and that's creating another social networking site that would someday come close to what FB has achieved.

A good enough timing for So.cl, developed by Microsoft's FUSE Labs, to come out right after the wedding bliss. What's in Social? As put in, So.cl is a combination of social networking and search intended for web and media sharing such as videos in real time, with the aide of video parties, enabling one to create rich posts with visual content.

While this remains an experiment, it's somehow shows a rather discreet way towards the real social networking business, don't you think? After all, when signing up for So.cl, you'll be using your FB account to log in to start with.

A camera like this one is usually made to be mounted on telescopes to take space photographs of different heavenly bodies. But Zeke, a mechanical engineer says otherwise, that will definitely blow you away.

Armed with an amazing 112 megapixel camera from their 1110 series that you can see on the video, he proposes that they want to come up with a people friendly type camera that can be used by normal people or photographers using the same specs as that of their 1110 series. So instead of having it fly somewhere over space, one can shoot holding this kind of camera on their hands, like any other cam but extraordinary at that, capturing the same image.

This 1110 series has a sensor that measures 95 x 95 millimeters that can expose images for hours while it can also be cooled to a 100 degree celsius. However, these sensors are extremely expensive, and their company won't invest until they see a positive response from many.

And so, while arguing about this issue, let's just wait and see for this awesome development to be launched sometime in the future.

DIY Doorbell Will Send Pictures Of Your Guests To Your iPhone

Say you’re a misanthrope and you’re afraid of humans. What to do? Well, you could cower in the dark when people ring your doorbell or you could laugh derisively at their smug faces in the screen of your iPhone. I’m going for the derisive laughter.

This DIY Arduino project involves a simple circuit, a webcam, and a few API calls to PushingBox to enable a truly enjoyable derisive experience.

The system works by pushing images grabbed by the webcam through PushingBox to an app like Prowl or Pushme.to. When the doorbell is pressed, it sends a serial signal to the Arduino board which in turn notifies the various services. The webcam picture then gets sent over to you so you can decide whether to let whoever is outside in.

It’s probably a little more complex than it needs to be, but if you’re totally into watching the world pass you by it’s a great solution and a fun weekend project.

Steve Jobs' Dream was to Design an iCar, Says Apple Board Member

Apple co-founder Steve Jobs may have passed away in October of 2011, but he is still very much present through his ideas and dreams.

After learning about the iTV and how he wanted to shake up the television industry, J. Crew CEO and Apple board member Mickey Drexler talked about another product that Jobs had been contemplating, one much less publicized, during a recent interview at Fast Company's Innovation Uncensored symposium in New York.

"Look at the car industry; it's a tragedy in America. Who is designing the cars?" said Drexler. "Steve's dream before he died was to design an iCar."

The Apple insider noted that "it would've been probably 50% of the market" though he pointed out that Jobs "never did design it".

Regardless of what you think about Jobs and Apple and whether a tech company could venture into a completely different and very complicated industry, you will probably agree that it would have been extremely interesting to see how Job envisioned the automobile in today's world.

A cruise and booze inside Guinness' submarine bar

Celebrating its 250 years on the brewery business, Arthur Guinness' world's famous Guinness beer with the help of Jump Studios designed a submarine bar where one can go about 330 feet deep under water while enjoying a pub-like atmosphere.

Alongside Nicholas Alexander, an engineering specialist, they created this under water bar made out of glass reinforced plastic shell that will serve as the bar itself without compromising safety sub measures. Its interior will give you a feel like you're afloat on bubbles -not from all that booze really, but quite literally.

A trip like this one was given to Evelyne Gridelet, winner of the Guinness Sea Experience competition.

Students, listen up! It is time to live out the proverb, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”, which is why Microsoft decided to offer a free Xbox 360 with each PC purchased from May 20th onwards. This does not apply to just about any computer, as students in the US who pick up a qualifying Windows PC worth $699 or more at participating retailers will have to make more room in their car boot to stuff in a 4GB Xbox 360 console as well. This is not the first time that something like this has happened, as the same offer was put up last year as well. As for our friends living in the Great White North, this offer will kick off from May 18th onwards.

Make sure that you pick up your PC from one of the following participating retailers to qualify in the US though – and they are Best Buy, Dell.com, Fry’s Electronics, HPDirect.com, Microsoft Stores, and NewEgg.com. As for those living in Canada, the participating stores will include Best Buy, Dell.ca, Future Shop, Staples and The Source. Something tells me that those who pick up a fairly powerful PC might just prefer to stick to the error-laden Diablo 3 instead of playing with the entry level Xbox 360.

Should you take the keys to any one of the company's two-wheelers between now and the end of May, you'll get a Visa gift card for the amount within a few weeks. Of course, the reason it can make such a seemingly generous offer is through the sheer efficiency of an electric engine: at a typical 10 cents for every kilowatt-hour, you're looking at just under $200 for what's likely several months or more of driving, even if you're particularly enthusiastic.

Knowing that riding the same amount with a gas-powered bike practically requires taking out a small mortgage in the current economy, though, we'd say that Zero is just reminding us of an an advantage e-motorbikes already have.

The Pirate Bay: Anonymous not behind DDoS attack

A DDoS attack that has successfully knocked feared file-sharing giant The Pirate Bay offline for more than a day was not the work of Anonymous, despite rumors to the contrary.

File-sharing giant The Pirate Bay was offline for close to 24 hours after suffering a “quite big” distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack, reports Torrent Freak. Contrary to what you read on Twitter, however, the debilitating traffic bombardment was not the work of the lulzy pranksters of Anonymous.

Just to clarify, we KNOW that it is NOT Anonymous who is behind the ddos attack. Stop spreading rumours like that,” wrote The Pirate Bay on its Facebook page. “We may not agree with Anonymous in everything, but we both want the internet to be open and free.

While The Pirate Bay announced on Facebook that its site, ThePirateBay.se, was back up and running as of four hours ago, we were unable to access the site at the time of this writing (5:15pm ET). Firefox tells us that “the connection has timed out.”

Rumors of Anonymous’ involvement in the attack stem from a minor tiff between the two subversive online entities from last week. Following a ruling by the UK’s High Court that requires British Internet service providers to block access to The Pirate Bay, Anonymous launched a DDoS attack against the website of Virgin Media and TalkTalk, two of the five ISPs that have agreed to the ban. The Pirate Bay then came out against the attack, saying on Facebook that, “We do NOT encourage these actions. We believe in the open and free internets, where anyone can express their views. Even if we strongly disagree with them and even if they hate us. So don’t fight them using their ugly methods. DDOS and blocks are both forms of censorship.”

Considering Anonymous’ penchant for DDoSing sites offline, and the recent disagreement over the practice, it makes complete sense that the hacktivist collective would get pinned for attacking The Pirate Bay — at least, it makes sense if you’re a casual observer.

As for who is behind the attack, The Pirate Bay says it doesn’t know, but has some guesses. Considering that the site has become one of the most-hated locations on the Web by governments and copyright-reliant industries alike, it could be coming from almost anywhere. Regardless of who it is, the attack is quite notable. As Torrent Freak writes, “whoever is attacking The Pirate Bay has achieved what no copyright or governmental authority anywhere in the world has – an almost complete disruption of the site’s operations on a global basis with no court order required.”

Scientists Make Wi-Fi Twenty Times Faster

A group of scientists from Japan have been tinkering with something that is called the “T-ray” band. It is basically an unregulated part of the network spectrum that lies between 300GHz and 3THz or between microwaves and far infrared waves. When we say unregulated, we mean that for now, no internet service provider uses that network and since it is unused, there is no need for a set of rules or regulations to be implemented for it just yet. The team of scientists has used T-ray to break the record for wireless data transmission in the terahertz range with a data transmission rate said to be 20 times higher than most current Wi-Fi connections.

The team which is based at the Tokyo Institute of Technology has apparently developed hardware that is allegedly capable of transmitting data at a blazing 3 GB/s at frequencies of 542GHz. The results for the experiment were posted in digital letters. To accomplish this, the team made use of a minute 1mm-squared device called a resonant tunneling diode which produced smaller voltage with increasing current. By tweaking the amount of current flowing in, the team hit a level at which the device began to resonate and subsequently it began emitting signals in the terahertz band.

While it is just a design prototype with no practical usability for now, especially since it can only emit signals to a distance of few tens of yards, researchers allegedly think that it might be possible to hit 100GB/s in the future so this doesn’t seem that powerful in comparison. With that said however, you might want to keep an eye out on your data caps if this ever saunters into the consumer market.

New light-powered retinal prosthesis could restore sight to the blind

Age-related macular degeneration is the leading cause of blindness in North America, while retinitis pigmentosa causes approximately 1.5 million people worldwide to lose their sight every year. Individuals afflicted with retinal degenerative diseases such as these might someday be able to see again, however, thanks to a device being developed at California’s Stanford University. Scientists there are working on a retinal prosthesis, that uses what could almost be described as miniature solar panels to turn light signals into nerve impulses.

The system consists of a camera- and microprocessor-equipped pair of goggles, and a small photovoltaic chip that is implanted beneath the retina.

The output of the camera is displayed on a miniature LCD screen, located on the inside surface of the goggles. That screen is special, however – it emits pulses of infra-red laser light, that correspond to the images it’s displaying. Photodiodes on the chip register those pulses, and in turn stimulate retinal neurons. In theory, this firing of the neurons should produce visual images in the brain, as would occur if they had been stimulated by visible light.

“It works like the solar panels on your roof, converting light into electric current,” said Dr. Daniel Palanker, associate professor of ophthalmology. “But instead of the current flowing to your refrigerator, it flows into your retina.”

Palanker’s team has created a chip about the size of a pencil point, which is thinner than a human hair, and contains hundreds of the photodiodes. These were tested using retinas from both sighted rats, and rats that were blind in a fashion similar to human degenerative blindness – the retinal neurons were still present, but were generally inactive. While the chips in the blind retinas didn’t respond to visible light (unlike those in the sighted retinas), they did respond to the near-infrared light. “They didn't respond to normal light, but they did to infrared,” said Palanker. “This way the sight is restored with our system.”

The scientists are currently testing the technology on live rats, and state that it so far looks as if the electrical signals are indeed reaching the rats’ brains. They are now looking for a sponsor for human trials. Palanker notes that the system doesn’t allow for color vision, however, and that what vision is does provide would be “far from normal.”

While other retinal prostheses are also in development, these reportedly involve more in the way of hardware such as coils or antennas being implanted in the eye. Most of the technology used in the light-based Stanford system, by contrast, is located in the goggles.

This gamer already beat Diablo 3 in 12 hours

Diablo 3 was officially unleashed on gamers at midnight. Were you one of the hardcore fans waiting in line for it? Did you stay up all night to get your D3 fix? Guess what? Somebody already beat the entire game.

When I game, I like to take my sweet time with it and go through everything. It's like reading a good book — there's no need to rush because the journey is the experience.

Not so for Yoshichan. This gamer beat Diablo 3 in 12 hours and 29 minutes racking up 8,368 Lifetime Kills, 412 Elite Kills and 168,481 gold as a Barbarian on normal difficulty.

Did this guy even stop to enjoy the game? See what he was obliterating? Probably not. Clearly, Yoshichan didn't run into any of the Battle.net server problems that many players were facing last night.

Calling all gamers. How has your Diablo 3 experience been so far? Good? Great? Server issues? DVICE editor Kevin Hall hasn't played it yet (he's busy running the site), so help me help him by spoiling it all!

The Fahrradi Farfalla FFX is a Pedal-Powered Ferrari!

Ferrari makes some of the greatest supercars in the world, but unfortunately drivers looking for a green supercar have had to look elsewhere. Until the upcoming Ferrari hybrid debuts, Ferrari buyers now have a new option that has all the style of a Ferrari, but also the ultimate green powertrain. The Fahrradi Farfalla FFX was created by Austrian artist Hannes Langwelder and is a followup to the Ferdinand GT3 RS that he created. What makes the Fahrradi Farfalla FFX the ultimate green supercar? Its V-12 gas engine has been swapped out with a set of pedals, meaning that this supercar is only powered by humans.

The name “Fahrradi” is German for “bicycle,” and “Farfalla” translates to “butterfly” in Italian. The Fahrradi Farfalla FFX weighs in at a very light 220 pounds and its pedal powertrain features 11 gears. The butterfly portion of its name is in reference to the rear axle that moves the wing doors while driving, resulting in a wing beat similar to that of a butterfly.

Although the one-off Fahrradi Farfalla FFX may look like it’s just a fantasy, it’s actually for sale, for a very, er, reasonable $1.6 million. It’s currently on display at the LENTOS Museum of Art in Linz, Austria.

'Discus' underwater hotel planned for Dubai with underwater rooms 10m below surface

When a country has hotels like the Burj Al Arab, the Real Madrid Resort, the Burj Khalifa, and the Apeiron Island, something weirdly futuristic and forthcoming seems like a day to day affair almost. But then, when you have suite rooms 10 meters below the sea surface, all housed in disc like buildings, it does manage to divert your attention towards it, anyways. The ‘Discus’ as it is being called, is going to be a joint collaboration of Drydocks World and a Swiss firm, who have been in the mood to utilize the underwater space of Dubai to good effect, and pump in more for the local tourism industry to boast of. Even though this project is quite a few years away, it still has managed to already garner interests from around the world.

The way the hotel has been structured, is that there are 2 main portions/discs: 1 above the water level, and 1 below it. The unit below the water will have 21 suites rooms next to each other along with a wet bar. The unit above the waters will have the stairwell and common areas. The interesting aspect however, will be the underwater tourism opportunities, where by guests can operate smaller vehicles to tour the local arena and have photographs taken thereof. We could possibly imagine a few submarines for the local underwater tours as well, along with more innovative restaurants or common areas.

Also, the other most important aspect of this project is that it’s an ecologically sustainable one. Though details will be furbished from time to time, regarding the engineering complexities, but eco-friendly tourism won’t disappear from the scheme of things.

Till more mysteries of this eco-friendly abode comes unveils, lets keep our fingers crossed!

BRD RedShift Electric Motorcycles: Eco-Friendly and Look Good Doing It

Motocross bikes are notoriously horrible for the environment, with their tiny two-stroke engines, they spew forth tons of Carbon Monoxide. And while many bikes have more environmentally-friendly four-stroke engines, they still have some emissions. But now riders have a choice to be a little more green when they head to the hills, thanks to the BRD RedShift.

This new line of motorbikes not only looks great, it runs on electric power, making them green and quiet. There are two main bikes in the line, one designed for off-road action – the RedShift MX, and another designed for city streets – the RedShift SM. The 260lb. RedShift MX offers a continuous output of 25hp and a peak of 40hp, and can run for up to 2 hours on a charge. Top speed is 80mph, and it’s tuned for off-road use, with its 21″ front and 19″ rear spoked wheels.

The RedShift SM has the same bones as the MX, but is designed for a smoother ride, with 18″ spoked wheels, and a slightly heavier weight of 265lbs. It will also be available as a special police cruiser called the RedShift PD. All three bikes have durable frames designed to take a beating whether on the trail or in the city.

The RedShift MX will retail for $14,995(USD), and the RedShift SM will sell for $15,495. You can get on the pre-order list with a $100 deposit over at BRD Motorcycle’s website.

Play the cello in another level with the Magnetic Cello

Musicians and avid beginners may want to try out this newly developed cello, much different from the old school musical instrument but will still be able to deliver the same musical output.

Magnetovore, a magnetic cello, was created by Cal Poly SLO student David Levi after three years of enhancement until just recently, it was perfected through the help of some cellists and a professor from the Electrical Engineering Department.

The instrument is technically very simple. The bow switches select a tuning for the instrument, and pressing down on the resistive ribbon in different places along its length changes its output voltage. This voltage is fed into the VCO, which turns that voltage into a frequency. That frequency is fed through a voltage controlled amplifier. The voltage controlled amplifier is controlled by the voltage induced in the coil when the magnetic bow is moved, Levi said.

A limited number of Magnetic Cello will be made and will be released this summer for half the price of a standard accoustic cello, that according to Levi would range from $600-$900 respectively. Watch out for the demo video below how this magnetovore is played.

It's a high powered and unique SUV sportscar where it features a 440 KW/600hp, as expected nothing less from a Lamborghini. It has an exceptional design, from its outer shell to its interior just as any bull's. A powerful and athletic facade but with class and elegance.

To launch maybe sometime in 2016 at $200,000.

IBM develops oxygen powered battery

In the next few years, approximately 8 years from now according to Winfried Wilcke, IBM's senior manager, cars will be capable to run using an oxygen generated battery that produces power by breathing in oxygen.

Dubbed the "Battery 500 project", it is said that it will power up a car to go 500 miles without the need to recharge, after all, it already does that by merely exhaling. Yup. It breathes.

It works when oxygen flows in and when reacted with lithium ions, electricity is expelled. When the battery is saturated with oxygen, it ends its charge and needs recharging through a power source wherein by this time, oxygen is expelled once again, turning the lithium peroxide back to ions.
