Cheteshwar Pujara's unbeaten century put India in a strong position
as home side recovered from the loss of their star batsmen to reach 307
for five at the close of the first day in the first Test against New
Zealand at Hyderabad.

Pujara's maiden Test century was a patient
affair, coming in 169 balls as the likes of Gautam Gambhir, Virender
Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar all perished. His unbeaten close-of-play
score of 119 included a total of 15 fours and one six.

Pujara
found a valuable ally in Virat Kohli until the latter was caught by
Martin Guptill off Chris Martin for 58 after a fourth-wicket stand of
125 had taken the home side to 250.

Pujara then teamed up with
captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his unbeaten 29 from 37 balls took
India past 300 without further loss.

The composed performance of
Pujara contrasted with the hurried innings of opener Sehwag, who fell
three runs shy of his half-century in the morning session with a rapid
47 off 41 balls.

Sehwag lived dangerously throughout, having been
dropped early on and then seeing another dangerous shot whizz through
the slips, and his luck caught up with him in the 15th over. He could
have few complaints, however, with a poor shot comfortably held by
Martin Guptill at second slip off Doug Bracewell.

Only two overs
earlier, he had received the second of his two let-offs, with a shot off
Bracewell splitting the slips as Kruger van Wyk and Ross Taylor were
left looking at each other. In the ninth over, when on 23, he had been
dropped by Daniel Flynn when offering a difficult chance at square leg
off Chris Martin.

Gambhir had been the first to go, caught behind off Trent Boult after making 22.

Following
their departures, the run rate slowed but India made good progress
despite the loss of Tendulkar early in the afternoon session for 19,
undone by a fine Boult delivery that nipped back in to strike the middle
stump.

Pujara and Kohli then put India on course for a healthy
first-innings total, and when the latter was dismissed Dhoni came in to
help steer the home side to the close and the prospect of a big score on
the second day.

"I'll look to perform and contribute to India's winning cause. I know that's the outcome if I win matches for India," Pujara.

* India lose Tendulkar in afternoon session

(Updates at tea)
Aug 23 (Reuters) - Cheteshwar Pujara's
patient half-century helped India overcome the loss of a trio of
batting stalwarts and carried the hosts to 182 for three at tea
on the first day of the opening test against New Zealand on
Thursday.
At the interval, Pujara (54) and Virat Kohli (32) were at
the crease, having added a valuable 57 runs for the fourth
wicket.
Right-handed Pujara and Suresh Raina were included in the
India team as replacements for the retired middle-order batting
duo of Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman.
Walking in to bat at the number three spot vacated by
Dravid, Pujara displayed a measured temperament akin to his
predecessor and completed his second half-century in tests.
He hit six boundaries in his 121-ball knock with both Pujara
and Kohli looking comfortable against the visitors' bowling.
The only wicket to fall in the afternoon session was that of
batting great Sachin Tendulkar, who had hit two boundaries
before he was clean bowled by left-arm seamer Trent Boult for
19.
The bowler was rewarded for his efforts when he got the ball
to straighten after pitching and breached Tendulkar's defence to
peg back his middle stump.
Earlier in the morning, openers Gautam Gambhir (22) and
Virender Sehwag (47) put on 49 for the opening wicket to give
India a flying start after captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the
toss and opted to bat.
Left-hander Gambhir was the first to depart when he edged
Boult to wicketkeeper Kruger van Wyk when trying to run the ball
down to the third-man boundary.
Sehwag hit nine boundaries and survived two chances during
his charmed 41-ball stay at the crease.
Daniel Flynn put down a difficult chance at square leg after
the right-hander mistimed a pull off Chris Martin while an edge
off Doug Bracewell flew between Van Wyk and captain Ross Taylor
at first slip.
Bracewell finally got rid of the dangerous Sehwag after the
batsman's attempted cut was snapped up by Martin Guptill at
second slip.
The second match of the two-test series starts in Bangalore
on Aug. 31.

DotA 6.75 Beta is leaked! It's been a while since we got a DotA Beta map leaked, but here you go, a DotA 6.75
Beta Map! It's up to you to judge whether the map is legit or not. But
looking on how the leaked changelogs and the map is supporting each
other, i think it's not a fake. One thing to notice that in this map the
Roshan's location got moved as in the picture below. This change is
made because the Scourge get slight advantage from the original Roshan
position.

As a result from the new Roshan place, the Ancient also moved to this place, near the secret shop.
Other changes are the modified Phoenix's skill. Icarus Dive replaced with Overheat.

DotA 6.75 Beta Download Link
Temporary pulled down the map due to some external circumstance, try to find it yourself in the internet :)

And if you care for the changelogs, here you go! Rumors said that the
current Beta is already reach around Beta 39 (can anybody confirm
this?). Please note that the leaked map is Beta 5, so we cannot check
the Frost Wyrm because he is in the Beta 18 :(

DotA 6.75 Beta Changelogs

Beta 19:

=========

- Removed the ! overhead on Overheat since it no longer disarms

- Fixed Transformed Soul Keepers not having his recently improved base armor

- Added Frost Wyrm to forced RD

For a man as unhurried as he was at the batting crease,
VVS Laxman left in a flash of lightning. From murmur to confirmation,
the story of his exit traversed less than a day. Allowing little time
for the cricket board to fathom the right response, leaving his family
in shock and condemning cricket writers to turn over rapid copy on a
figure they had grown accustomed to describing at leisure.

In
the breathless emotion that followed his departure, one word has
dominated the discourse: 'Artist'. Admittedly, it captures the
Hyderabadi well, as the shape and form of his batting was justifiably
artistic. The magnificence of Laxman's presence at the crease has been
captured with much eloquence by writers more gifted than this one, so to
attempt another such tribute would be foolish.

I
have though been compelled to wonder in these last few days how a
'sporting artist' must find definition. For those of us who watch sport
from the outside, it is essentially about appreciating angles. The
'artist' journeys us into the unreal, the unfathomable. He is Diego
Maradona with a football at his feet. He is John McEnroe with a racquet
in his hand. He is Shane Warne with a cricket ball in his palm.

Think
angles- think Laxman. An out-swinger starting off-stump must be
caressed through point or cover. Laxman would find mid-wicket. A
leg-break aimed at the base of the front pad isn't destined for the
extra cover fence. Laxman would caress it politely towards that
destination. Think angles- think McEnroe. How the wrist would flick the
forehand across court with a feather touch. Think angles- think
Maradona. How the precision pass would dissect the defense. Think
angles- think Warne. How once the batsman lost sight of the ball it
would turn violently to crash into stumps he felt were safely protected.
Angles- Laxman- Artist.

But we
digress. For a man of such blessed gifts, Laxman was an oddball really.
Being a maverick of sorts is acceptable, almost expected, in 'sporting
artist' territory. The 'artist' is well aware his gift is a wonder. It
evokes awe and applause, forces grown men to squeal and allows him
excesses and intemperance. The shackles of discipline or the borders of
acceptable conduct are not for him. For the impossible angles he
conjures on the sporting field, the 'artist' feels entitled to transport
the same off it.

Laxman was a
startling contrast to the stereotype. I remember asking him once if he
regarded himself as an 'artist'- carrying the legacy forward of Jaisimha
and Azhar. He replied, radiant smile never leaving his face, "Not at
all. I am in the team to score runs. That is my job. I am a batsman".
Laxman was oblivious to his dazzle. He was miracle angles on the field,
right angles off it. He was an oddball.

Laxman
was bestowed with an unreal practicality. He was able to divorce
emotion from both his thought and decision making process. At 17 he knew
a successful career in medicine was his for the taking. Cricket was a
considered punt- taken after consultation within a family that was
ingrained in academia. He set himself a five year limit to discover
where the game would take him. Or else, there was medicine.

A
conversation with Laxman, both on and off the record, was always a chat
between equals. There was no aura to his presence, only candour. I
remember interviewing Laxman when he completed a hundred Tests and asked
if he ever felt upset at not being considered for India captaincy. His
response was incredibly logical, "Look, if you see the guys who were my
contemporaries- Sourav and Rahul, both were slightly senior to me. By
the time they were done as captains, a new leader had to be groomed. So I
could completely understand why I was never made captain". There was no
space for bitterness, only a pragmatic recognition of the times he
played in.

There were regrets as
you would expect, but Laxman developed an uncanny ability to mask those.
Not playing enough one-day cricket and a World Cup were on top of that
list. "Anyone who is dropped expects to be given a reason why he was
dropped. I was never given a reason", he told me once. Where was the
need for a snub, he was arguing, when a conversation would have
sufficed? Perhaps, I might have been convinced, had you only tried-
Sourav, Rahul, John?

It is for this
unflappable poise that Virender Sehwag likes calling Laxman "Sai Baba".
In a disarming conversation once Laxman said how he found it difficult
to explain to his son why he wasn't in any commercials on TV, when all
his other 'uncles' were! I never spotted a trace of envy in his voice,
even when he talked of how he willingly gave up the status of icon
player for the Deccan Chargers; forsaking a massive amount of money so
the franchise had more to spend on purchasing players. A couple of years
later the same owners dumped him. When his new IPL home Kochi went
under, I asked him, what now? He chuckled, "We all go into the auction,
but no one will want me!" There was a near pious sarcasm to those words,
no rancour even as he gazed correctly into the crystal ball.

When
I scroll down the directory in my mobile phone, I find numbers for a
stream of player agents; the bridge between us journalists and superstar
cricketers. Except I don't have one for Laxman. Why? - Because he
doesn't have one! If he calls you, the screen doesn't flash "private
number calling" as is the case with most prominent Indian cricketers. He
probably doesn't even know how to activate that service! On the morning
of his retirement, I felt privileged to get a call from him- "Press
conference at 4pm today Gaurav, I will be announcing my retirement.
Thanks to you and your channel for all the support". My voice quivered
in response, his was stoic.

I
remember one other incident with fondness. While my crew was setting up
for an interview at his Hyderabad apartment once, the power failed. So
we waited and Laxman waited with us. A few minutes later, he casually
strolled into the kitchen and served water to the entire crew in little
steel glasses! There was no gimmickry, just what you would do when there
were people sat in your living room!

In
the ordinariness of VVS Laxman's world, cricket was just something he
did. Beyond it, we were all just your every day people. As a man
destined for medicine, he perhaps had no appetite for the joys of
poetry. He could inspire it among the followers, but never succumbed to
its seduction himself. That Laxman is still around of-course, and he is
Very Very special. The artist may be gone, but the regular dude, well
look him up if you are ever in Hyderabad!

CHENNAI: Union minister
and former Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, who has been
battling liver cancer in a city hospital, died here on Tuesday
afternoon. He was 67.

Having registered with the Tamil Nadu
organ registry for a liver and a kidney, Vilasrao's case was cleared as a
'super ultra emergency'. He was to receive the organs from a
31-year-old man who was declared brain dead at the Government General Hospital,
Chennai on Monday afternoon, but the prospective donor suffered a
cardiac arrest in the early hours of Tuesday before his organs could be
harvested. Two more set of organs were available by Tuesday morning, one
from the General Hospital, Chennai, where a 20-year-old woman was
declared brain dead, and another from Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai. But
transplant surgeons at Global Hospitals found Vilasrao's condition was
too unstable to undergo the procedure. "His condition was getting worse
from early morning," said a treating doctor. "Though a transplant was
the only option, the chances of his surviving the long and complex
procedure looked bleak."

Vilasrao Deshmukh's health condition
has been see-sawing since he was brought to Chennai last Tuesday by an
air ambulance. On Saturday, doctors said his condition was stable. Since
his other organs stood the risk of failing, and doctors had to prevent
further infection, he was moved from the general ICU to an isolated unit
on Saturday. The same day his name was registered with the TN organ
registry which allots cadaver organs for transplant.

His actor son Riteish Deshmukh was registered with the authorities as a part-liver donor, but doctors said Vilasrao Deshmukh
needed a full liver, which meant they had to get the organ from a
brain-dead person. If a kidney was available, doctors said, they would
transplant that too, since his kidneys had also failed.

A dual
transplant looked likely on Monday after the family of the 31-year-old
brain-dead man at Chennai GH agreed to donate his organs. A team of
doctors from Global Hospitals reached GH, but because of some procedural
delays, the organs could not be harvested. In the mean time, the
prospective donor suffered a cardiac arrest, making it impossible for
the doctors to retrieve and use the liver and kidney. On Tuesday, the
transplant surgeons were presented with two opportunities of organs,
from Mumbai and the Chennai GH, but before they could harvest the
organs, Vilasrao Deshmukh's condition worsened by Tuesday afternoon and
he breathed his last.

Cremation tomorrow

Union science and technology minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, who passed
away in Chennai this afternoon, will be cremated at his native
Babhalgaon village in Latur district on Wednesday, family sources said.

The mortal remains of the departed leader will be brought to Latur
tomorrow and kept at his house in Babhalgaon from 9 am to 3 pm for
people to pay their last respects, his brother Dilip Deshmukh, said.

The funeral procession will start at 3 pm and last rites would be performed at 4 pm, he said.

According to the Times of India report dated 11
August 2010, Gujarat Chief minister Narendra Modi is learnt to have
approved a proposal, floated by Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd (SSNNL)
Chairman D Rajagopalan, to construct the world’s tallest 180 metres
statue, of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, in the Narmada river, near the
Narmada dam.

The statue, according to TOI report will be 40 metres higher than the
dam’s full reservoir level, 138.64 metres, and eight metres taller
than the earth’s highest statue of Crazy Horse Memorial sculpture being
carved in Mount Rushmore, South Dakota, a state in north central US.
Ahmedabad based Centre for Environmental Planning and
Technology(CEPT) University will carry out a detailed study of the
topography of the river and report if such a huge structure can be
installed there. It has to have a very wide base and would have to be
connected with a bridge so that tourists could reach up to the statue,
said an official. “According to the presentation, there would have to be
a lift that will carry tourists right to the top in order to see the
dam from afar, according to report.

While officials in the SSNNL claimed money may not be a problem, a
top aide of chief minister Narendra Modi said, "One has to take into
account cost escalation while building such kind of a statue. It is
possible that by the time the state government floats tenders, the cost
of the project would have escalated to Rs 2,500 crore".

The
Gujarat government has collected Rs 55 crore for the high-profile
project. Of this, Rs 50 crore has been collected from different state
public sector undertakings, while Rs 5 crore has been contributed by
Adani group. The PSUs have provided money from their corporate social
responsibility funds.

Called Statue of Unity, to be built on
Sadhu island which is about 3.5 km downstream of Narmada dam, the state
government has formed Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Rashtriya Ekta Trust to
implement the project.

As per the official note, the consultant
will be required to do overall area planning, including spaces for
hospitality, health, education, convention and training centres,
development and formulation of tourism plan and provide technical and
managerial assistance for bids to invite EPC contract.

A new era of water revolution has begun.
The water has started flowing from Kevadia to Kutch... Villagers are
provided water through pipelines instead of tankers...Rivers & Ponds
are recharged...More than 15,000 villages are covered under Narmada
Water supply project..Narmada main canal has reached upto
Gujarat-Rajasthan border 458 km and Sub canal distribution network has
covered more than 1000km.....

It was the late Sardar Vallabhabhai Patel
who conceived the idea of constructing a dam over the river Narmada in
1946-47 for the optimum use of Narmada waters for the welfare of the
Nation.

Today The Sardar Sarovar Project is one of the largest water resources project
of India covering four major states - Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh,
Gujrat and Rajasthan. Dam's spillway discharging capacity (30.7 lakhs
cusecs) would be third highest in the world. With 1133 cumecs (40000
cusecs) capacity at the head regulator, and 532 km. length, the Narmada
Main Canal would be the largest irrigation canal in the world.

The project will generate between 856 to 1007 million units per year
of cheap and Eco-friendly, indigenous hydropower. Project would meet the
drinking water needs of 8215 villages, 135 urban centers and benefits
three sanctuaries.

Ramdev, who was kept in detention at Ambedkar Stadium here along with
hundreds of his supporters before being let off by the Delhi Police,
stayed put at the detention venue and said this morning that he would
proceed to Haridwar in Uttarakhand after ending his fast.

Yesterday, before beginning the march Ramdev had indicated plans to oppose the Congress in the 2014 General Elections.

"I had earlier said that I will end my fast in Jail. This stadium is a
makeshift jail. I had said will call off my fast only after my
supporters get food and water. Late in the night, they were provided
with food and water," Ramdev said.

"They have appealed to me to end the fast at 11:00 am," Ramdev said, addressing his supporters this morning.

The yoga guru said history will be created today and he will announce his next course of action before noon.

Ramdev held an early morning strategy session with his close aides to fine tune the future course of his protest.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) will expand upon
the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched
12 years ago.
CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers
updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition,
CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards,

"Counter-Strike took the gaming industry by surprise when the
unlikely MOD became the most played online PC action game in the world
almost immediately after its release in August 1999," said Doug Lombardi
at Valve. "For the past 12 years, it has continued to be one of the
most-played games in the world, headline competitive gaming tournaments
and selling over 25 million units worldwide across the franchise. CS: GO
promises to expand on CS' award-winning gameplay and deliver it to
gamers on the PC as well as the next gen consoles and the Mac."
This is From http://www.narendramodi.in

Gujarat's CM Narendra Modi'sto People of Gujarat
Dear Friends,
Jai Shri Krishna!

On the occasion of Janmashtami, I extend my warmest greetings
and best wishes to you and your family, especially children.
Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna is the day to recall feelings
Bhakti (devotion) and Bhav (intent). In various parts of the
country rather the entire world, Janmashtami is celebrated in a major
way through different ways. The most common image of Janmashtami is that
of ‘Dahi Handi’ wherein a sea of Krishna Bhakts assemble to see
youngsters attempting to break the earthen pot filled with milk cream.
Lord Krishna, the ‘Makhan Chor’ is always remembered as Sakha (friend)
and protector of cows.
Lord Krishna stands for decimating the evil. In his
infant days he escaped the evil designs of Kansa. The image of a
youngster from Vrindavan with cows to a divine figure in the Mahabharata
always serves as a blessing for us. He always personified
divinity and enlightenment. In the middle of ‘Mahabharata’, he gave us
the message of life in the form of the ‘Bhagwat Gita’. He showed us the
way of life by teaching ‘Nishkam Karmyog’ or selfless service.
It is a matter of great pride that the blessed land of Gujarat has been
the Karmabhumi of Lord Krishna. Dwarka was the capital and he remains
the ‘Dwarkadhish’ or the Lord of Dwarka. Dakor and Shamlaji too have
deep-rooted bond with Lord Krishna.
There is a huge presence of Lord Krishna in every aspect of
our life. We not only revere Lord Krishna but also everything associated
with him. Among other reasons, his association with cows made us to
worship them as our mother. In Gujarat, we have left no stone
unturned to protect ‘Gau Mata’. We are the only state in India to enact a
law for protecting the cow’s progeny and ban cow slaughter. But, our
work does not stop at preventing killing of mother cow but to also
ensure their wellbeing. This inspired us to organize cataract operations
for cows.
It saddens me that present UPA Government led by Congress is
promoting slaughtering of cows and exporting beef to bring ‘Pink
Revolution’. Our ancient Indian ethos and values doesn’t teach
us to kill mother cow, who nurture us from the day we start taking shape
in the womb of our mother till we leave this mother earth. Sadly, the
UPA seems unbothered about this rich ethos of our culture. It wants to
make India the biggest exporter of beef! Mahatma Gandhi and
Acharya Vinoba Bhave worked tirelessly for the protection of mother cow
but this Government abandoned their teachings. Should we feel proud of this endeavor of the UPA Government led by Congress, which is founded on the killing of our mother cow?
Friends, on this day, I appeal to you to take a pause and reflect
whether we should kill our mother cow who give us milk and various milk
products which are essential for our children who are suffering with
protein deficiency. Our future generation is not getting sufficient milk
and this Government wants to kill cows that provide us ‘ladder for
life’. I’m sure that you will contribute your might in stopping such
insane act.
Once again, I convey my greetings on this auspicious day and
also take this opportunity to extend a warm invite to visit places in
Gujarat such as Dwarka, Dakor and Shamlaji, connected with Lord Krishna.
Yours,

Zeus is the son of the Titans Cronus and Rhea. He is the brother of his wife Hera, his other sisters Demeter and Hestia, and his brothers Hades, Poseidon.

Divine Mates

Roman Equivalent:

The Roman name for Zeus is Jupiter and sometimes Jove. Jupiter is thought to be made up of a Proto-Indoeuropean word for god, *deiw-os, combined with the word for father, pater, like Zeus + Pater.

Attributes:

Zeus is shown with a beard and long hair. His other attributes include scepter, eagle, cornucopia, aegis, ram, and lion.
The cornucopia or (goat) horn of plenty comes from the story of his Zeus' infancy when he was nursed by Amalthea.

Powers of Zeus:

Zeus
is a sky god with control over weather, especially of rain and
lightning. He is King of the gods and a god of oracles -- especially in
the sacred oak at Dodona.
In the story of the Trojan War, Zeus, as a judge, listens to the claims
of other gods in support of their side. He then renders decisions on
acceptable behavior. He remains neutral most of the time, allowing his
son Sarpedon to die and glorifying his favorite, Hector.

Sources:

Ancient sources for Zeus include: Apollodorus, Diodorus Siculus, Hesiod, Homer, and Hyginus.

Etymology of Zeus and Jupiter:

The root of both "Zeus" and "Jupiter" is in a proto-Indo-European word for the often personified concepts of "day/light/sky".

Zeus and the Origin of Man:

Ages of Man

Zeus Abducts Mortals:

There
are many myths about Zeus. Some involve demanding acceptable conduct of
others, whether human or divine. Zeus was enraged with the behavior of Prometheus.
The titan had tricked Zeus into taking the non-meat portion of the
original sacrifice, so that mankind could enjoy the food. In response,
the king of the gods deprived mankind of the use of fire so they
wouldn't be able to enjoy the boon they'd been granted, but Prometheus
found a way around this, and stole some of the gods' fire by hiding it
in a stalk of fennel and then giving it to mankind. Zeus punished
Prometheus with having his liver pecked out every day.
But Zeus himself misbehaves -- at least according to human standards.
It is tempting to say that his primary occupation is that of seducer.
In order to seduce, he sometimes changed his shape into that of an
animal or bird.

When he impregnated Leda, he appeared as a swan [see Leda and the Swan].

When he abducted Ganymede, he appeared as an eagle [see Zeus and Ganymede] in order to take Ganymede to the home of the gods where he would replace Hebe as cupbearer; and

when Zeus carried off Europa, he appeared as a tempting white bull

[see Europa and Zeus]
-- although why the Mediterranean women were so enamored of bulls is
beyond the imaginative capacities of this urban-dweller -- setting in
motion the quest of Cadmus and the settling of Thebes. The hunt for Europa provides one mythological version of the introduction of letters to Greece.

Olympics:
The Olympic Games
were held to honor Zeus. Pausanias 5.7 says the Olympic origins lie
with Zeus' victory over Cronus. The following passage also explains
musical elements in the ancient Olympics.

Now some say that Zeus wrestled here with Cronus himself for
the throne, while others say that he held the games in honor of his
victory over Cronus. The record of victors include Apollo, who outran
Hermes and beat Ares at boxing. It is for this reason, they say, that
the Pythian flute-song is played while the competitors in the pentathlum
are jumping; for the flute-song is sacred to Apollo, and Apollo won
Olympic victories.
Origins of the Olympics

Apollo
Unlike most of the Olympian gods, there was no special Latin variant of his name, so the Romans also called him Apollo.
Phoebus Apollo
Sometimes the Romans referred to him as Phoebus, either alone or combined, as in Phoebus Apollo.
Sol
As sun god, he was also called by the Latin word for sun, Sol.

Attributes, Animals, and Powers:

Apollo is depicted as a beardless young man (ephebe). His attributes are the tripod, omphalos, lyre, bow and arrows, laurel, hawk, raven or crow, swan, fawn, roe, snake, mouse, grasshopper, and griffin.

Although often associated with the sun, Apollo was not originally a
sun god. In Homer, he is god of prophecy and plagues. He is also a
warrior in the Trojan War. [Gods in the Iliad shows which side the gods favored.] Elsewhere Apollo is also a god of healing and the arts -- especially music (Apollo taught Orpheus to play the lyre) -- archery, agriculture . His arrows could send plague, as happens in the Iliad Book I.

Titles of Apollo

Apollo's Symbols

Apollo's Mates:

Apollo mated with many
women and a few men. It wasn't safe to resist his advances. When the
seer Cassandra rejected him, he punished her by making it impossible for
people to believe her prophecies. When Daphne sought to reject Apollo,
her father "helped" her by turning her into a laurel tree. Apollo sired mostly males, including Asclepius.
Apollo never married.

Apollo's Mates

Apollo Becomes a Laborer:

Apollo is a healing god. He transmitted this power to his son Asclepius,
who exploited his ability to heal by raising men from the dead. Zeus
punished Asclepius by striking him with a thunderbolt. Apollo retaliated
by killing the Cyclops, who had created the thunderbolt. Zeus punished his son Apollo by sentencing him to a year of servitude, which he spent as herdsman for the mortal king Admetus. Euripides' Alcestis tragedy tells the story of the reward Apollo paid Admetus.

In the Trojan War:

The Trojan War was a pivotal event for the Greeks. In the Iliad (attributed to Homer), the god Zeus attempts to maintain neutrality during the war, but other gods and goddesses choose sides.

Apollo and his sister Artemis side with the Trojans in the Trojan War. In the first book of the Iliad,
he is angry with the Greeks for refusing to return the daughter of his
priest Chryses. To punish them, the god showers the Greeks with arrows
of plague, possibly bubonic, since the plague-sending Apollo is a
special aspect connected with mice, sort of an Apollo the Mousey God.

Pride of Agamemnon and Achilles
Provides more details on how Agamemnon's behavior provoked Apollo. As
the title suggests, it also explains the relationship between the two
excessively proud warriors.

Homeric Hymn to Pythian Apollo:

There is a hymn called the Homeric Hymn to Pythian Apollo, because it was attributed to Homer, that was written to honor the Apollo who slew the python. There is another Homeric hymn, to Delian Apollo, honoring Delos, his birthplace.

Apollo and the Laurel Wreath of Victory:

Apollo
slew the python, competed musically with another god, Pan, and insulted
still another god, the god of love (Eros/Amor/Cupid). As a result of
the last, Cupid shot him with one of his special arrows: Apollo was
fated to a disastrous and unrequited love. Daphne, the object of his
love, metamorphosed into a laurel tree to avoid him. Leaves from the
laurel tree were thereafter used to crown victors at the Pythian games.

The Victory Laurel

    Apollo at Delphi
Apollo's expiation for the crime of the murder of the Python is connected with laurel, as well.

The Pythian games featured musical competitions.

Apollo in 20th Century Culture:

Apollo Mission:
The U.S. used the name of the Greek god Apollo for NASA's Apollo Program (1963 - 1972), whose purpose was to take people to the moon.
Who Mourns for Adonais? (1967):
Apollo also made a memorable appearance in the original Star Trek television series where he was trying to find worshipers.

Apollo and the Sun:

Apollo has many attributes, but he wasn't originally the chariot-riding sun god Helios.
He was god of prophecy, healing, music, archery, light, and truth, the
twin brother of Artemis (Greek) or Diana (Rome) who became associated
with the moon.

Perhaps the earliest reference to Apollo as the sun god Helios occurs in the surviving fragments of Euripides' Phaethon.
Phaethon was one of the chariot horses of the Homeric goddess of the
dawn, Eos. It was also the name of the son of the sun god who foolishly
drove his father's sun-chariot and died for the privilege.
By the Hellenistic period and in Latin literature, Apollo is associated with the sun. The firm connection with the sun may be traceable to the Metamorphoses of the popular Latin poet Ovid (43 B.C. - A.D. 17).
In Greek mythology, Greek gods frequently interact with humans,
especially attractive young women, and so you will find them in
genealogy charts for the important figures from Greek legend.
These are the main Greek gods you will find in Greek mythology:

Apollo

Ares

Dionysus

Hades

Hephaestus

Hermes

Poseidon

Zeus

Below you will find a some information about each of these Greek gods with hyperlinks to their more complete profiles.

1. Apollo - Greek God of Prophecy, Music, Healing, and Later, the Sun

CC Maciej Szczepanczyk

Apollo
is a many-talented Greek god of prophecy, music, intellectual pursuits,
healing, plague, and sometimes, the sun. Writers often contrast the

If you do not know what I mean with evasion utility, is one of the most valuable travian gold club utilities, The troops leave at the moment of the attack comes in and return 180 seconds afterwards, this means that if you attack someone and he always gets his troops away his village this evasion option could be activated, but there is a way to cheat .

I know that Many player have headache to kill troops of those players who has troops evasion on...

this is the solution...read this carefully......

The troops will evade only if NO troops are arriving at home
within the next 10 seconds, and we will make use of this “mistake”, we
just need to send a fake-reinforcement to
the village we want to attack, this reinforcement must arrive between 9
seconds before our attack in order to deactivate this evasion option.
