"KL Gangster" tells the tale of two brothers who get involved in the world of gangsterism. The older brother Malek (Aaron Aziz) was imprisoned for five years after being betrayed by his own gang which was started by Shark (Syamsul), the step brother of the most influential gangster in Kuala Lumpur, King (Ridzuan Hashim). Malek who leads a normal life after being released, is pulled back into the world he left behind after all those years. Especially since his younger brother Jai (Adyputra) is influenced by the gangsters and decides to work for Shark bringing everything down in chaos.

Aaron, Adyputra, Adam Corrie, Ridzuan Hashim are really good actors. Aaron with his cool manners, Adi with his quick temper, Adam with his Taiko attitude and Ridzuan with all his experience can really blend with the character well. Unfortunately for Syamsul, u need to brush up ur acting skills la bro. However, u do make a lot of improvement in term of acting and directing. Thumbs up to you for able to gather a good actors in your movie because actors are the one who makes the story real. This movie is really 1Malaysia. Got Malay, Chinese and Indian.

After a long wait of five years, Hazama’s patience has been paid off after he was selected as the contestant of Akademi Fantasia season 9 (AF9) and finally emerged as the champion during the concert finale at Putrajaya Square in Putrajaya on Sunday night.

Hazama, or Hazama Ahmad Azmi beat out three other finalists, Lena, Fina and Azri, with his energetic performances of two songs ‘Lagu Cinta Teragung’ and ‘Pukau’.

As expected by many, Hazama Ahmad Azmi, 27 was the Akademi Fantasia Season Nine (AF9) champion during the reality programme final concert held at Dataran Putrajaya, Precinct 3, Putrajaya last night.

He took home RM200,000 and Power Root hamper worth RM5,000.

Hazama joined the reality programme on the third week and has experienced performing before joining AF9.

Last night he sang Pukau with special appearance by actress Lisa Surihani. The other song by Hazama was Cinta Teragung.

The second place won by Lena or Lenaber Haidir.

Fina who was given the immuity to perform in the final concert was at the third place followed by Azri.

The country's most iconic rock groups Search and Wings gave fans an electrifying evening of pure Malaysian rock at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Resort here yesterday.

Search and Wings rocked the city in their "explosive reunion" themed Double Trouble which lasted two hours beginning at 8.30pm.

The concert was a tribute to their 1993 collaboration, also called Double Trouble, which gave rise to an album of the same name. It has sold over 180,000 units.

Search, established three decades ago, and Wings, which is 23 years old, staged the Double Trouble 2 concert in 1998.

Their latest concert, which was attended by close to 20,000 fans, was organised by Adepnet Sdn Bhd.

Each group performed 10 songs, including Wings' Opera Hidup, Search's Fantasia Bulan Madu, Isabella, Derap Komando and Gemuruh.

Search's lead singer Suhaimi Abdul Rahman, or Amy, said Double Trouble was a great opportunity for fans who missed their 1992 concert to get "more than a glimpse" of it.

Wings' lead singer Ahmad Azhar Osman, or Awie, said both groups wanted to give their followers of all ages an "energetic and exciting trip down memory lane".

Search comprises vocalist Amy, guitarists Hamzah Mohd Taib (Kid) and Nordin Mohd Taib (Din), bassist Nasir Daud and drummer Yazid Ahmad.

Wings is made up of vocalist Awie, guitarist Zamin Abdul Kadir (Joe), bassist Samsaidi Ulong Idris (Eddie) and drummer Azmi Hashim (Black).

The concert caused a massive traffic jam along Jalan Bukit Kiara, leading to the concert venue.

Adepnet technical director Eddie Abdul Rahman said they had Rapid KL shuttle buses for fans -- free rides every 20 minutes from Asiajaya, Bangsar LRT station and Pusat Bandar Damansara to the concert venue and back.

Easily one of the most anticipated scores to come this year amongst some big contenders. James Horner has worked his ass off for years to make a great score for James Cameron’s epic sci-fi movie about the Na’Vi world and the (mostly) evil humans and their avatar characters. It has been hyped up by just about everyone and it’s supposed to be an epic orchestral score of massive proportions. First I got hold of part of a cue from Avatar, then 1 minute previews of all the tracks on the score. We can’t wait any longer! James Horner is back ladies and gentleman so sit back and enjoy the ride.

"Who's gonna work for the working man?" wonders Jon Bon Jovi on the new album by the long-running outfit that bears his name. Well, Bon Jovi is up to the job: On "The Circle" this band of Jersey boys makes a recession-appropriate return (after appealing forays into pop and country) to its old blue-collar arena-rock style; "Work for the Working Man" even recycles the pumping talk-box groove from the band's 1986 smash "Livin' on a Prayer," and lifts the factory-floor sound effects from Billy Joel's "Allentown" for good measure.

These guys obviously mean business when it comes to the victims of big business.

Produced as were the band's previous two discs by Top 40 staple John Shanks, "The Circle" shows off Bon Jovi's still-sharp knack for wedding blandly optimistic sentiments to predictably soaring choruses. Unfortunately, it's getting pretty hard to tell one song from the next: First the singer's telling us "We Weren't Born to Follow," then he's remembering "When We Were Beautiful"; later, he reveals that "Love Is the Only Rule" before demanding that we "Learn to Love."

After all that sloganeering, "Fast Cars," near the end of the album, appears to promise something simple, refreshing, maybe even Ramones-like. Alas, no dice: "We are fast cars on the inside," Bon Jovi proclaims over a cascade of surging power chords. "There's no turning back on the highway of life."

Band Asal Jogjakarta Seventeen mempunyai sejarah unik dibalik nama bandnya itu. Seventeen yang di anggotai Andi (drum), Yudhi (gitar), Ifan (vokal), Bani (bass), dan Herman (gitar) bukanlah band baru di Indonesia.

Band yang terbentuk pada 17 Januari 1999 sebenarnya telah mengeluarkan tiga album. Dan album inilah yang paling meledak, dengan album yang berjudul ‘Lelaki Hebat’.

Pada pertengahan bulan Mac 2008, SEVENTEEN telah kembali dengan hits terbarunya: Slalu Mengalah, Untuk Mencintaimu dan Jalan Terbaik yang dipetik dari album ke-3 mereka. Album ke-3 yang diberi judul LELAKI HEBAT ini telah melakukan sebuah perubahan besar. Antara perubahan tersebut apabila SEVENTEEN harus berpisah dengan Doni(Vokal) dalam konteks profesionalisme kerja. Namun hal ini tidak mematahkan semangat anggota SEVENTEEN yang lain. Setelah Doni meninggalkan SEVENTEEN, mereka telah mengadakan sessi uji bakat untuk mengisi posisi sebagai Penyanyi SEVENTEEN. Setelah uji bakat dijalankan selama 2 bulan, akhirnya terpilihlah Ifan sebagai pengganti Doni.

Selain pertukaran Ifan sebagai penyanyi baru SEVENTEEN, musiknya turut berubah. Musik SEVENTEEN ketika ini adalah kelahiran dari perubahan yang terjadi dalam kumpulannya baik secara group mahupun individu. Memang tidak dinafikan, apabila seorang vokalis diganti maka terciptalah suasana yang berbeza dengan karya-karya sebelumnya. Karakter vocal Ifan dengan lenggok melayu tapi juga memiliki unsur rock menawarkan suasana yang lebih fresh. Dari segi persembahan dan muzik SEVENTEEN tampil lebih matang. Hal ini terbukti dari sound gitar, drum dan bass yang dilihat lebih terkonsep. Perubahan lainnya adalah sentuhan piano dan string serta brass section di beberapa lagu yang membawa lagu-lagu SEVENTEEN pada atmosfera baru.

On this 12th February 2009, the latest Malaysian 3D animation movie, ‘Geng: Pengembaraan Bermula’, will be shown in cinemas. From what I read, it is the most expensive local animation film ever been produced in Malaysia which cost around RM4 million. Hmm..a very huge amount isn’t it? For your info, this film is produced by Les’ Copaque Production Sdn. Bhd, the same company that brings to you ‘Upin & Ipin’ cartoon on TV9. So, that’s why both two kiddies will also making their special appearance in this film. Believe it or not, both Upin and Ipin voices is done by only one person who is Nur Fathiah.

The story is about a mystery and horror creature that come out at night and thus making the village called ‘Kampung Durian Runtuh’ in havoc and chaos. Suddenly, a team of kids consists of Badrol, Lim, Ros, Rajoo, Upin and Ipin accidentally involved in solving the mystery surrounding the village. Anyway, what I can say about the trailer is it is A.W.E.S.O.M.E and has a very exciting sequence of action and roller coaster feeling. The duration of the movie will be 90 minutes long. You better watch the trailer dude :)

Bunkface are Sam (vocals, guitar), Youk (bass, vocals), Paan (guitar, vocals) and Biak (drums). Formed in 2005, the guys recently released an EP titled Lesson Of The Season, a six-track mini album filled with pop punk goodness.

The four Malaysians, who look younger than their age of 18 to 21 years old, started jamming together in school and later came together as a band. Take a listen to Bunkface and it’s clear where their influences lie. “We were all into punk and liked bands like Sum 41 and Green Day,” Sam confesses. The name Bunkface itself is taken from a song from Sum 41 titled ‘Crazy Amanda Bunkface’. After a period of considering names like Endless, Wicked Freak and Total Damage, they came to a consensus following Biak’s suggestion of Bunkface.

Bunkface’s first foray into public domain saw them participating in Blast Off!, Astro’s battle of the bands competition. While they didn’t win, they continued to play at gigs and friends’ parties every chance they had in order to make a name for themselves. So far their brand of alternative punk rock has been making the rounds on local radio stations like Fly FM, and the band is as eager as ever to play at gigs to help promote their EP. It’s no easy feat as the release of their EP was a DIY project–Lesson Of The Season is self-released and only took one month to complete. “Yeah, we were quick on finishing this EP. We recorded it in 21:05 Studio, which is owned by JD of Pop Shuvit. Working with him was really great,” Sam says. More surprising is the fact that all members learnt to play their musical instruments by themselves.

Tracklisting:

Sam writes the lyrics and melody of all of Bunkface’s songs, and then tells his bandmates that the song should sound a certain way. Each member then works on it and comes up with a mix that everyone likes and agrees on. Is it really that simple and easy as they make it sound? Apparently, yes. After all, the most important thing about a band is the chemistry between all members. In Bunkface’s case, Sam might be the most vocal but it’s evident that the members have a rapport that only four guys who share a large chunk of their lives together can have, bonding through their love for music and their ultimate muse: girls.

Asking them what their favourite song is, they reply in unison that it’s ‘SillyLily’. “Lily is a special friend of the band,” Sam reveals. “No, she’s Sam’s special friend,” Biak interjects. The band roars in laughter, each cheekily teasing the other over a crush on that special girl. Bunkface has a music video to accompany the song and it captures the band’s spirit of fun with its comical animations.

The band are currently in the middle of recording their second EP. Determined to release it by 2009, they have already released two singles on their MySpace–a Malay song titled ‘Situasi’, which has received over 45,000 plays on MySpace, and ‘Bunk Anthem’, a song with such catchy lyrics that you feel an irresistible urge to sing along. But why not release an album? “An album is a big step, and we feel with EPs you can still split your songs up and give fans a little taste of the band,” explains Sam. “We’ll release our second EP, make a boom, and when the time is right release an album that will hit platinum on the sales charts.”

Grand plans for young boys. After three years of being together, Bunkface have grown up and so have their musical influences–their fave bands now include Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco. However, they insist that they prefer listening to Malaysian bands, and list One Buck Short, Meet Uncle Hussain, Pop Shuvit, Hujan and Bittersweet as their top picks.

In many ways, the boys of Bunkface are still young and it shows in their interview. The three other members are shy in giving their opinions and leave most of the speaking to Sam. At times, they fumble to find the correct words. But it’s this naiveté’ that works to their advantage as it gives them a sunny outlook on life and on the local music scene–which in turn, reflects on their music. There’s no stopping Bunkface as they continue to churn out simple and catchy pop punk nuggets that they’re so fond of. As they sing on ‘Bunk Anthem’, “Don’t stop/Gonna make you stand up/Try to make it to the top/ Don’t give it up!”

Letto third album after the Truth, Cry, and Lie (2005) and Do not Make Me Sad (2007) contains 12 tracks consisting of 3 songs in English and'9 'songs speak Indonesian. Color music variety, but it's decorated with the lyrics, lyrics that touch. Color also coloring ethnic music songs including some ethnic music Bali, Minang and Java.

According to the vocalist, Noe, Lethologica represent the feelings of the album Letto that can not be expressed with words but with music. Lethologica have their own sense of disorder, describes the time in which we can not remember what we want

It will come as no surprise to anyone listening to the soundtrack to the multiple Golden Globe-scooping Slumdog Millionaire that one of these was awarded to 'Mozart of Madras' A R Rahman for Best Original Score - or that he now stands to win a potential three Academy Awards across two categories in next month's ceremonies.
For this is about as close to perfection as a soundtrack can ever hope to get - perfectly capturing the emotional grit of Danny Boyle's onscreen drama, while successfully evoking a very Indian atmosphere for a very Western audience.

M.I.A. was a wise recruit for the purpose of bridging this gap - as a London artist with Sri Lankan roots, her relevance along with her familiarity to Western ears makes Rahman's compositions all the more accessible, as well as lending the score her inimitable kudos and an urban touch that evokes well the gritty underworld of Mumbai.

She sings on the Oscar-nominated opening track O Saya, whose lyrical imagery ("They can't touch me / We break off / Run so fast they can't even catch me") well conveys the urgent pace of life onscreen as well as providing a relevant motto for the film's protagonists. ("We live for the buck / We get for the family.")

Her own song Paper Planes is included too, both in its original form and as a DFA remix - an upbeat, eloquent song that provides the perfect match for the dynamic and colourful onscreen imagery: the chorus sung by children and the sounds of cashdrawers and gunfire perfectly coincides with the plight of the young gang of street urchins desperately trying to survive by any means available.

Elsewhere, Rahman negotiates the East/West duality with an accomplished hand, combining the conventions of both filmic traditions, with an epic Bond-esque string section that plays out over a sitar in Mausam and Escape. The strings recur in Liquid Dance, which layers these with classical Indian vocals over moody electronica.

Ringa Ringa is more traditional fare, featuring Alga Yagnik, who has been one of Bollywood's most popular playback singers since the late 1980s, although those unfamiliar with Bollywood may still recognise her from another wonderful soundtrack - to Moulin Rouge (2001) on the track Hindi Sad Diamonds.

Latika's theme is wonderfully intimate and touching in its hushed simplicity - a sweetly hummed melody that serves as a consistent motif for its titular character, and manages to be as beautiful as Freida Pinto who plays her. It is also a teaser for the film's penultimate number Dreams, which picks up where it left off, featuring the same melody and adding the lush vocals of the mononymous Suzanne to celebrate a very happily-ever-after indeed.

The record is rounded up by Jai Ho, an exuberant Bollywood dance number that encapsulates the film's feel-good-factor, and reminds us just how much this score deserves the accolades it has already won and the many it is sure still to receive - just as India's most treasured composer deserves the new-found global recognition it has earned him.

Meskipun lagu tersebut makin mendapat tempat di hati ramai peminat muzik tempatan, populariti yang diraih oleh lagu itu nyata mengejutkan tuan empunya diri, apatah lagi Nabila sendiri tidak pernah meletakkan harapan yang tinggi agar lagu ‘X-Ray’ itu berjaya mencuri tumpuan ramai.

Tutur pelakon yang baru mendirikan rumahtangga dengan suaminya Zaidy Zailani pada 2 Disember lalu, idea menghasilkan single itu sebenarnya dibuat atas dasar ’suka-suka’.

“Lagu single itu memang sudah lama saya rakamkan. Rasanya lima bulan sebelum saya berkahwin. Itu pun atas cadangan Papa. Kebetulan pula saya memang minat menyanyi, jadi saya ‘try’ sajalah.

“Tapi memang tidak terlintas langsung di fikiran saya untuk hasilkan album penuh. Saya tidak bersedia ikut jejak langkah Papa bergelar penyanyi walaupun dia sendiri cukup ’supportive’,” kata pelakon berusia 24 tahun ini.

Menurut Nabila lagi, andai kata dia ditawarkan membuat album berdasarkan sambutan yang baik terhadap lagu tersebut, dia tetap akan cuba menolak dengan baik kerana belum bersedia dengan komitmen yang tinggi dalam bidang tersebut.

“Sejujurnya, saya memang tidak ada masa untuk hasilkan album. Prosesnya bukan mudah dan memakan masa juga. Lagipun, jadual harian saya memang padat dengan aktiviti lakonan.

“Setakat diundang untuk buat ’show’, saya rasa tidak menjadi satu kesalahan. Tetapi apapun, bidang lakonan tetap menjadi keutamaan saya,” kata Nabila.

THESE days, Imran Ajmain can't stop grinning like a Cheshire cat.

A year and a half ago, many would have had trouble remembering the 26-year-old's name.
He was known in hip-hop circles as the director of Beats Society, an organisation he set up to raise awareness of local hip-hop music, and as a singer-songwriter.

But his independently produced debut album, Dengan Secara Kebetulan (By Pure Coincidence), has changed that for him.

Imran has scored seven nominations at the Singapore Malay Grammys, Anugerah Planet Muzik (APM), that will be held on 8 Jun at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

To leverage on the awards show, he is repackaging and reprinting Dengan Secara Kebetulan for a June release.

To date, most of the 3,000 copies from the first print have been sold out.

Not bad for a guy who was booted out of the first season of Singapore Idol, which his friend Taufik went on to win.

It’s called Analog Heart, and a few weeks ago it was the #1 downloaded album on Amazon.com, even ahead of Mariah Carey’s new album. If you want to track it down today, however, it is mysteriously absent. Both iTunes and Amazon yanked the album, no doubt at the request of Idol powers-that-be. Seems unfair to me. Why not let Cook continue to accumulate wealth from his independently-released album? My guess is that Idol suits (in their characteristically totalitarian fashion) are counting on David Cook winning and, thus, being bound to a contract with the Idol record label. They probably are hoping to repurpose some of Cook’s songs from Analog Heart or even reissue the whole album at some point.

The third studio album by singer-songwriter Jason Mraz was originally released as three online-only four-track EPs throughout the spring of 2008, hence the odd punctuation of the album's full title: WE SING. WE DANCE. WE STEAL THINGS. Although it was originally made available in a piecemeal fashion, the entire 12-track album was recorded as a whole, and it flows naturally from the smooth pop-rock of the opener, "Make It Mine," to the extended jam workout of the closing, "Beautiful Mess." Guest spots by James Morrison on "Details in the Fabric" and Colbie Caillat on the flirty single "Lucky" are standouts, as is the shimmering first single, "I'm Yours." Overall, Mraz's tuneful songcraft is on display throughout the album.

Jason Mraz isn't so much releasing his upcoming effort as he is rolling it out. "We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things." will be available as trio of EPs, with each to hit shelves on different dates.

"We Sing" and "We Dance" will be released March 18 and April 15, respectively, while the third EP is merely bundled with the other two when the full-length debuts May 20. Purchased separately, the individual sets will come packaged with bonus alternate versions of the songs.

"We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things." features Mraz' new single "I'm Yours," which appeared originally as a demo on an EP that accompanied his last album, "Mr. A-Z." The track resonated with fans and bred more than 300 user-generated music videos online. Mraz also tapped fellow songwriters James Morrison and Colbie Caillat to contribute to the album.

Mraz will perform Feb. 28 for iTunes Live: London Sessions in England in support of the album. Additionally, he's in the midst of planning a North American tour and already has dates slated for Europe, Australia and Asia.

"We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things." is the follow-up to 2005's "Mr. A-Z," which debuted at No. 5 in 2005.

IT'S not all fun and games for rock group Estranged when it comes to its second album.

After a successful outing with hit song Itu Kamu (which won Song of The Year at Anugerah Juara Lagu and Most Popular Group at Anugerah Planet), the band is back — with some changes.

Comprising Rich on vocals, Hanafi (guitars), Din (guitars) and Andy (drums), its second offering is called Remain Unknown.

“This album showcases our maturity. We experimented with sounds including heavier rifts. Andy, meanwhile, showcased new drumming methods. Rich is showing progress vocally, displaying depths and diversity in tone,” said Din.
Songs such as Yang Pernah and Aurora mark the band’s departure from its sound in Itu Kamu.

“We want to sound more progressive. We did worryabout fans’ reaction but we also do not want to stagnate,” said Rich.

“Most importantly, we want people to like us as a band and not for the song Itu Kamu,” said Andy,

Despite music pundits predicting a full-fledged Malay album from the boys, Estranged has delivered an English-dominated album.

The album consists of eight English tracks, including This World, In No Time and Enjoy the Ride and five Malay tracks including Aurora and Masa.

“We have always catered to the English market. We don’t want to sing only Malay songs just because of one hit song,” said Andy.

The lyrics cover serious subjects such as global warming, political mishaps and social deterioration.

“This World highlights the deterioration of our eco-system while Tarikh Tutup deals with child kidnapping,” Rich.

The album cover depicts the struggle faced by the Orang Asli in preserving their homeland.

“Our photographer was inspired by the story of the Temuan tribe. The background of the cover shows land belonging to them which has been turned into a dam,” said Hanafi.

As one of the leading rock bands in Malaysia, Estranged has its their say in regards to the issue of 90:10.

“We can’t censure songs. In fact, we need foreign songs (Indonesian songs) for competition. It is essential to have an open market so that we know the ins and outs of the music scene,” said Din.

“We do have a lot of talented singers and bands. Let’s invest in them and give them exposure, “ he added.

Estranged was among the few local bands to perform at the Soundrenaline 2008, the biggest music festival in Indonesia, recently.

“We were treated well. Both fans and organisers were pleased with our performance, “ said Andy, referring to their shows in Medan and Pekan Baru.

Due to their successful first outing at the festival, the boys might be on board for the coming year.

“The organisers did say something about us returning to the festival. But we will have to wait and see, “ said Andy.

Life after fronting one of the biggest rock bands in Indonesian history has proven surprisingly good to ARI LASSO. Instead of being haunted by the specter of Dewa 19, the multiplatinum group he joined back in 1992, the singer gradually eased into a superstardom of his own. As he made the transition by performing duets with singers like Melly Goeslaw, Ari began recording songs that he had been writing since 1997, when he left the band after four albums. Several years later, Ari was ready to release his first solo effort "Sendiri Dulu."

That album (which loosely translated means "Alone") defied all expectations and sold 100,000 copies in two weeks. After six months more than 500,000 copies had been sold, making it one of the best selling albums of 2001. "David Archuleta" is the new debut album from 17-year old American Idol season 7 runner-up, David Archuleta. Let me first say that I have never watched a previous season of American Idol. I HATE reality TV, yet I tuned in for season 7 because I was bored since the writer's strike was happening at the time. Who was I to know that a humble Utah teen would make me watch an entire season of the very show that I swore I would never watch. I have loved and adored David since the first note he sang on "Heaven" during Hollywood week on Idol. I have never felt so emotionally connected to a celebrity before. Actually I do not even consider David a celebrity. His humble nature proves he is above that. His voice, nature, and the inspiring performances he has given to all us fans is what makes us love him

The Salt Lake Tribune has given it a B- and said that the album focuses on David’s voice instead of collaborations with artists like Timbaland.

Entertainment Weekly was not as kind. With a grade of C+, citing generic writing and a lack of passion on romantic songs as the main reasons for the low evaluation.

I hope that the album does well and doesn’t discourage him because I really think that, under the right circumstances and with the right writers, David could be a huge star. I think he has one of the best voices to ever grace the Idol stage and he’s definitely got the right look.
