A customer wanted them to build a chassis for a street bike  that will have a flat track look to it using the wheels, suspension,  brakes, engine and swingarm from a Buell XB. Their job, specifically,  was to build the chassis, after which the owner will finish it to his  own taste. Of course, being designers, they couldn’t help but try a few  ideas of their own to see how the finished tracker might look and that’s  what you see here. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;div id="attachment_14514" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 530px"&gt;  &lt;img src="http://thekneeslider.com/images/2011/03/bottpower-xr1-3.jpg" alt="Bottpower XR-1 transforming old Buells into Flat Trackers" title="Bottpower XR-1 transforming old Buells into Flat Trackers" class="size-full wp-image-14514" height="390" width="530" /&gt;  &lt;p class="wp-caption-text"&gt;Bottpower XR-1 transforming old Buells into Flat Trackers&lt;/p&gt; &lt;/div&gt; &lt;blockquote&gt;&lt;p&gt;The Harley XR1200 is the most similar thing you can find  on the market, but while the Harley weighs 250 kgs (551 pounds) and has  85 HP, the BOTT XR-1 will weigh 170 kgs (375 pounds), will have more  than 100 HP, and it will have much more aggressive geometries,&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/blockquote&gt; &lt;p&gt;Now here’s the fun part, if they find there’s a lot of interest, they  just might make a kit so you can put one of these together yourself.  For those of you who liked the performance of the old Buells but were  never really fond of the looks or just prefer the flat tracker, this  might be just the ticket. It looks like something Harley could have  built instead of the XR1200, a real lightweight performer with just  enough flat track look to fit in with the Harley heritage. All four  models return unchanged save for graphic updates.&lt;span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;The 2012 Suzuki RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 (pictured above) are fuel  injected and equipped with fully-adjustable Showa forks, twin-spar  aluminum chassis and swingarm and five-speed transmissions.&lt;span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span id="more-11139"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;The Suzuki RM-Z450 (pictured below) is  powered by a 449cc Single and has a 1.6 gallon fuel tank, with a claimed  curb weight of 249 pounds.  &lt;p&gt;This was first revealed by Ducati CEO Gabriele Del Torchio in an  informal gathering with journalists on Tuesday and later amplified by  Ducati Corse CEO Claudio Domenicali during the Wednesday news conference  he shared with designer and engineer Filippo Preziosi. &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;“I believe that he will have a tremendous impact on our brand and I  believe that it will help us a lot in terms of technology development,”  Del Torchio said, adding that Domenicali would have more to say on  Wednesday. A completely new bike could take three or four  years, Domenicali said, “but it is also true that if today we do not  start thinking about really new and really extraordinary for the next  three years then we will not have anything if we don’t start now. This  is typical of automotive companies who work with plans for five or six  years. So today you start to think about the products for four or five  year’s time.&lt;/p&gt;   &lt;p&gt;“For us, this is an extraordinary opportunity to not only have the  rider who won more world championships, who is now with us and who is  capable of achieving fantastic sporting results, but it is a fantastic  opportunity for us to explore a real fan of bikes who can give us his  contribution, his suggestions and his opinions. Somehow we can allow the  products that we are going to develop in the future can be influenced  by his knowledge. I think that a sports bike tested by that type of a  test rider is more likely...to be a really exceptional object as against  one tested by someone else. It is not just a consultant. I think if  anyone could have such a test rider, all would explore such a test  rider.”&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Ducati races to win, but also uses the race team as an R&amp;amp;D lab,  an “advanced research lab,” Domenicali said, “in which we do advanced  experimentations. The global economic downturn hasn’t hit Canada as hard as it has the U.S., but that doesn’t mean it’s been smooth sailing. To survive the recession, Honda Canada has been offering throat-cutting promotions on previous model years to clear out back inventory. Meanwhile, 2010 models haven’t been selling, despite Honda lowering the prices to narrow the gap between Canadian and U.S. pricing.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"&gt;Honda’s efforts have put it back on top of the sales charts, but it low prices haven’t helped with profits. Even worse, according to Milner, the price slashing has lowered the value of the brand. After-sales support has also taken a hit as there isn’t enough money to provide it.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"&gt;By contrast, European manufacturers such as BMW, Ducati and Triumph, have been able to keep up with sales without hurting the bottom line. No more discounts, for one thing.&lt;/strong&gt; Customers will see dealers stick close to MSRP in 2011. They may also see some new models. The CB1000R, for one, is almost sure to arrive in Canada. There are other holes in Honda’s product lineup that could be filled.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"&gt;Right now, &lt;strong&gt;Honda Canada’s best selling model is the CBR125R, which trails the Kawasaki Ninja 250R on Canada’s top sellers list.&lt;/strong&gt;Both entry-level models have been doing a good job bringing in new riders, and Kawasaki’s new Ninja 400R (pictured above) will give those new riders an option to upgrade. But Honda doesn’t yet offer anything similar in that bracket. Its VTR250 naked V-Twin roadster sold in other markets would be a ready-made bridge from the CBR125 to the CBR600RR.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"&gt;The Canadian motorcycle industry is much different than it is in the States, of course. With a smaller population, shorter riding season, not to mention different government regulations, Canada presents a different set of challenges for manufacturers.
