Place any credit-card sized card next to the object you'd like to measure, snap a picture with your iPhone's camera, align your image with the card placeholder that RulerPhone displays on-screen, and you are ready to measure anything in your picture just by dragging your finger. This application checks the local networks to see which are open and then attempts to connect to them and retrieve the web page of a popular web browser. If it goes through, you get a green check mark showing it's safe to use. Touch the entry to see a details page with more information, and click Connect to connect your device to it! If there are no available networks (or you're just interested in mapping out signal strengths), use the Auto Scan tab to turn on repeated scanning, set a pause interval, and even turn on an alarm when a new usable network is found (vibrate on iPhone; sound on iPod Touch)! Click back to the Network List tab and watch it auto-refresh or lock the screen and walk around. Note that this application is just for looking at open networks - it does not attempt to break into closed networks, nor does it remember your security settings. Also, this tool will show networks with very low signal strengths (RSSI < 15) that would not normally show up in Apple's WiFi settings. WiFi can be intermittent at those levels.
