India has not won a series in SA, Australia or Sri Lanka in recent past. Can it still be called the No 1 test team? Based on the performance in the current SL series I dont think so.

The bowling attack looks so weak that it would be difficult to pick 10 opposition wickets in a match - leave alone 20 needed to atleast have a chance to win the match. And the batting is not doing well either.

Only a miracle can save India now.

Michael Clarke: The Australian Weak Link?

For the first time in my life, I saw something from the Australian cricket team which was not expected from them. Indecisiveness.

What was Michael Clarke's role in this team? He came in at No 3 in the finals, a position which was Brad Haddin's all through the world cup. Why change a working plan? Somehow, I had an incling that the Australian team was not very confident about Michael Clarke's position. The indecisiveness reflected in their running. Other than Warner's run out, there were more than a couple other opportunities England missed due to the indecisive running. Was the confusion on Clarke's role in the team a cause for this?

Any way, A great win for England. They had the team to win. They were consistent and had the best bowling attack in the tournament. Congratulations England!!

Ponting was run-out for the second time in two Tests after risking a single to Vettori at mid-off and was beaten by the direct hit. It was the 13th time Ponting had been dismissed that way, making him the most run-out batsman in Tests.

The selectors will meet later today to pick the 15-man squad for the T20 world cup to play from end of April. Tendulkar was excluded from the provisional list of 30 announced last month, but tournament rules permit a player not in the list to be included in the final 15.

Sachin has been in beautiful form in the last two years. His magnificient ODI double century put the icing on the top of a wonderful phase in Sachin's Career. In the past 12 months, Tendulkar has averaged 71.50 in nine Tests with five centuries, and 65.28 in 17 one-dayers with three hundreds.

Sachin Tendulkar has been in great form in the IPL too. In the ongoing Indian Premier League domestic Twenty20 tournament, he has hit 176 runs in four games with a strike-rate of 155.75 off 100 balls.

Its not just the magnitude of runs he is scoring, but the way he is scoring them matters even more. Tendulkar's knocks have been poetry in motion. If the Brabourne on Monday night and the Feroze Shah Kotla last week could be converted into canvasses, Tendulkar painted a picture with his deft touches. There was not one harsh stroke, not one glance, not one cut that you saw and could remark 'ah! that was a chance'. He left nothing to chance. He executed every shot to perfection. It didn't matter whether you supported the Mumbai Indians or the other side, you just felt blessed watching the maestro at work.

It been Sachins dream to win India a world cup. Its unfortunate that he was not part of the victorious 2007 T20 world cup squad. Sachins dream now is "Winning the World Cup in 2011,” .

I implore you Sachin - Why not 2010 T20 world cup?

India has a very good team for T20 world cup. With Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj and Dhoni - India has a very good Batting Lineup. Adding Sachin to this lineup, with the form he is in and the class he possesses, will make the Indian Batting lineup next to invincible. Adding the fact that Indian bowling has been weak, with the exception of Zaheer and Harbhajan - Its all the more important for India to have a formidable batting lineup.

Even a cursory glance at the performances show the glaring difference in performance of the Ganguly and Tendulkar this IPL. Tendulkar averages above 58 with a strike rate of over 155. On the other side, Ganguly has an average of below 20 with the strike rate just above 90. The strike rate is well below par for a 20-20 tournament.

As Sidhu says "Statistics are like Bikinis. They reveal everything important". And in this context not far from truth.

Ganguly struggled through all the innings. Even in the innings he got a start, he was not fluent. I personally hold Ganguly responsible for KKR not posting/chasing good scores in the IPL.

On the other hand, Sachin has been at this fluent best. He had to seldom take risks. His straight drives to start off the chase today were Gorgeous. He controlled the chase perfectly.

The other member of the trio Dravid didn't get enough oppurtunities yet. So, Sachin has again established his claim as the best among the old guys ;-) trio this IPL. Can Ganguly or Dravid challenge him? What do you think?

Wow!!! What a Knock!! After 20 years, you come to expect occasional great innings from the little champions, but a double hundred in an ODI to put icing on the cake for such a phenomenal run over last two years.

Australia: Brad Haddin, Philip Hughes, Doug Bollinger, Ashley Noffke, Adam Voges, Luke Pomersbach, Clint McKay, Graham Manou, Ben Laughlin, Jason Krejza, Damien Martyn.

The fact that the Australian players might not be available for the entire IPL would be a big negative for them. Haddin and Bollinger should be among the top runners otherwise.
