Uninor mobile services which is stopped in mumbai after order of SC. Now they said it has started to refund process in Mumbai for his subscribers.

Uninor already closed its operations in Mumbai after midnight on February 16 after the Supreme Court.

Telenor which was a joint venture with Unitech Group. Uninor will also sign roaming agreements with other operators to ensure that all Uninor customers get seamless connectivity when travelling to Mumbai.

For refund of prepaid balance "customer have to visit with Uninor Sim cards and a proof of identity of the individual receiving the claim. Uninor will verify the unitilised balance on the SIM and pay other cash as refund.

According to RTN Doordarshan is setting up a free high-definition broadcasting system in the four cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai, the ministry of information and broadcasting said. Free terrestrial broadcasting of HD quality TV channels is likely to be a novelty in a country where nearly 99% of the people watch SD or standard definition channels only. However, about 20-30% of the households have HD compatible television sets and a smaller subset of the customers would have full-HD enabled television sets. Nearly all TVs sold in India are HD-compatible, and an estimated 30% of the TVs sold are full-HD (1080p) enabled. However, the transmission of HD programs has lagged the adoption of HD TVs due to the high number of channels being broadcast in India. India currently has about 650 active TV channels. A full-HD channel, such as Movies Now HD, would require about 8-10 times the bandwidth of a standard definition (SD) channel. In other words, TV channel providers such as cable operators and DTH companies would be able to offer only about 35-50 channels instead of the current 300-400 channels if they switched over to HD.

This is Bigest Breaking news from Zee News TV that Sun TV Network on Thursday won the Hyderabad franchise of the Indian Premier League for an amount of Rs 85.05 crores per year.

The Indian Premier League Governing Council met here on Thursday to open the bids for the new IPL franchise and Sun TV was found to have the highest bid amount.

"SUN TV Network have won the Hyderabad Franchise for an amount of Rs 85.05 crores per year. This Franchise fee represents a premium of over a 100 % above the amount paid by DCHL for the Hyderabad Franchise in 2008," BCCI Secretary Sanjay Jagdale said in a release.

"The SUN TV Network bid was substantially higher than the second bid of PVP Ventures, which was Rs 69.03 crores," Jagdale said.

The BCCI had floated the tenders for a new IPL franchise after terminating Deccan Chargers' contract on September 15 but the team owners DCHL had challenged it at the Bombay High Court.

Prasar Bharati plans aggressive marketing for Doordarshan and AIR India Channels

A recent Bolstered decision of prasar bharti providing it financial relief of Rs 12,000 crore because they decided to work on aggressive marketing plans for turning Doordarshan and All India Radio profitable.

"Marketing and revenue would be the two thrust areas for Prasar Bharati, Doordarshan and All India Radio and the Board has put special emphasis on different revenue streams and innovative methods for garnering additional income," Prasar Bharati broadcaster said in a statement after its board meeting.

The Board was also unanimous in approving Prasar Bharati CEO Jawhar Sircar''s proposal to engage professionals from the open market in marketing and other areas, it said.

Officials said the Cabinet had recently approved waiver of loans and other concessions worth over Rs 12,000 crore which had taken a huge burden off Prasar Bharati.

"After the Union Cabinet decision, Prasar Bharati''s annual operational expenditure would be in the range of Rs 1,500-2,000 crore whereas the annual revenue currently is around Rs 1,600 crore. Therefore, we need to generate additional revenue of Rs 350-400 crore and that''s where our renewed emphasis on marketing is important," Sircar said.

The Prasar Bharati Board has given its nod to seek legal opinion and hold consultations with the ministry of information and broadcasting (I&B) on misrepresentation and under-reporting of data for Doordarshan by Television Audience Measurement (TAM).

In a statement, Prasar Bharati CEO Jawahar Sircar said, "The TAM data completely under represents terrestrial and rural reach of Doordarshan, where the major strength of the public broadcaster lies."

Indian advertising revenues amount to Rs 36,000 crore a year according to official estimates. Sources in Prasar Bharati said that with viewership of 3.5 crore or one-third of the total viewership, the public broadcaster should have been able to garner higher revenues that the existing Rs 1,200-1,400 crore a year.

Doordarshan has 37 channels including DD Bharati and DD National besides four allied channels like Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha TV. With 1,415 transmitters, DD enjoys 92% coverage of the country through its terrestrial network.

In its meeting on Monday the board authorized the CEO to collate data and identify the best legal option to pursue. "Prasar Bharati finances have taken a major hit not only because data related to coverage was constantly under-represented but also because advertisers have been influenced by TAM. The agency paid no attention to the rural population that was covered by DD and gave it an edge over satellite channels," a source said.

In its statement, Prasar Bharati said, "The Prasar Bharati Board has given in-principle approval to collate facts, seek legal opinion and hold consultations with the ministry on the issue of misrepresentation and under-reporting of data for Doordarshan by TAM."

The pubcaster's move comes at a time when NDTV has filed a lawsuit worth billions of dollars against TAM in the New York Supreme Court. The channel has alleged that TAM deliberately published corrupt and tainted data favouring rival channels in return for bribes and did not correct its processes despite repeated communication between the two companies for eight years.
