Top 10 Essential tools for Hacking Wireless Networks

As with any trade, it’s essential to have the right tools when testing your wireless network for security vulnerabilities. Here are ten tools i m including that will assist you to increase the throughput of yur pen test.

Laptop Computer
For starters, you’ve got to a have a good test system — preferably a portable laptop computer. Although it is possible to perform wireless-security testing using a handheld device such as a Pocket PC, the tools available on such devices are limited compared to those on a laptop system.
Due to the multiple operating system requirements of the popular wireless testing tools, we recommend using either a system that can dual boot Windows (preferably 2000 or XP) and Linux (any recent distribution will do) or a Windows-based system running a virtual machine program (such as VMware) on which you can install multiple operating systems. The hardware requirements for systems running a single operating system are pretty minimal given today’s standards. A system with a Pentium III or equivalent processor, 256MB RAM, and at least a 30–40GB hard drive should be more than enough. If you’ll be running VMware or another virtual machine program, you’ll want to at least double this amount of RAM and hard drive space.

Wireless Network Card
In addition to the laptop, you’ve got to have a good wireless network-interface card (NIC). Look for a PC Card NIC that’s not only compatible with the various wireless tools, but one that also has a connector for an external antenna so you can pick up more signals. The Orinoco Gold card (and its re-badged equivalents) serves both purposes very well. Many wireless NICs built in to today’s laptops are good general purpose cards, but your test results may be limited due to the shorter radio range capability of the internal antennas.

Antennas and Connecting Cables
A high-gain unidirectional or omnidirectional antenna — or cantenna — will do wonders for you when you’re scanning your airwaves for wireless systems. When you’re shopping for antennas, look for one with a pigtail connection that matches the type of connector you have on your wireless NIC. Also be aware that the length of these pigtail cables should be kept as short as possible. Because they’re made with a very thin microwave coax, these cables have fairly high signal losses at microwave frequencies and with the connectors placed on either end of the pigtail cable. To avoid high cable losses, you should not use a pigtail cable longer than 5 feet.

GPS Receiver
If you’ll be war-walking/driving/flying — or if your wireless systems span across a large building or campus environment — then it’s time to think globally: A global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver will come in handy. With a GPS receiver, you’ll be able to integrate your wireless testing software and pinpoint the locations of wireless systems within a few meters.

Stumbling Software
To get your wireless testing rolling, wireless stumbling software is essential; you can use it to map out things like SSIDs, signal strength, and systems using WEP encryption. Software you can use for this includes Network Stumbler for Windows or your wireless NIC management software. For really basic stumbling, you can even use the management software built in to Windows XP.

Wireless Network Analyzer
To probe deep into the airwaves, a network analyzer is essential. Programs such as Kismet, AiroPeek, and ethereal can help you monitor multiple wireless channels, view protocols in use, look for wireless system anomalies — and even capture wireless data right out of thin air.

Port Scanner
A port scanner such as nmap or SuperScan is a great tool for scanning the wireless systems you stumble across to find out more about what’s running and what’s potentially vulnerable.

Vulnerability Assessment Tool
A vulnerability-assessment tool such as Nessus, LANguard Network Security Scanner, or QualysGuard is great for probing your wireless systems further to find out which vulnerabilities actually exist. This information can then be used to poke around further and see what the bad guys can see and even potentially exploit.

Google
It’s not only a great reference tool, but the Google search engine can also be used for searching Network Stumbler .NS1 files, digging in to the Web-server software built in to your APs, finding new wireless-security testing tools, researching vulnerabilities, and more. The Google taskbar (downloadable for Internet Explorer, built in to FireFox) makes your searching even easier.

12) To see his username and password login in to your webhosting site and open the file usernames.txt.

How To Remove One Operating System From Dual Boot Windows

In this age all people know that we can install two or more operating systems on the same partition or on same hard drive. For example you can install windows 98 with windows 2000 or Windows XP and also windows XP with Windows vista. You can install both operating systems on the same partition (both on C: drive) or on different partitions (one operating system on C drive and other on D drive). But installing more than oneoperating system on same drive kill the system performance.

In dual operating systems, when you turn on the computer, it gives you a choice of windows 2000 or windows XP to use. Whether you have installed your both operating systems on C drive or one on C drive and other on D drive, system store the root files of the both operatingsystems on C drive, so you can delete one any operating system with editing these root files. There is no any direct method to uninstall one operating system; you can do this only with format the partition or delete windows folder after editing the “Boot.ini” file.
The given steps to edit the Boot.ini to delete one operating system:

In case any problem after editing, first backup the Boot.ini file.

Their is a free utility named Ophcrack which makes the whole process of discovering the logon password easy. Ophcrack is a free Windows password cracker based on rainbow tables. It is a very efficient implementation of rainbow tables done by the inventors of the method. It comes with a Graphical User Interface and can solve passwords up to 14 characters in length. All you have to do is :-

Simply download the Ophcrack ISO from here and burn it to a CD
Insert the CD into a machine you would like to gain access to, then press and hold the power button until the computer shuts down
Turn the computer back on and enter BIOS at startup. Change the boot sequence to CD before HDD, then save and exit.
Wait for the computer to restart and Ophcrack to load, all work done just save the password it gives you and try logging in with that password.

End Non Responsive Programs Automatically

To make this work according to our need we will have to modify the registry.

First go to Start –> Run –> regedit.

Then navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

In the right side pane, find the key “WaitToKillAppTimeout”, double click it and set the time to wait for not responding applications to come back to normal. The time is in milliseconds. If you want to end the task immediately, give the value as 0.

Once you have all those resources ready, you can start the customization process as follows…
1. Take the Ownership of “explorer.exe“ which is located in the Windows Folder (Most likely in C:\Windows).
2. Open the Resource Hacker Tool.

3. Go to File menu and click on Open. Now load the file “explorer.exe” into the Resource Hacker.

4. Expand Bitmap branch in the left pane.

5. Now expand 6801 option, right-click on 1033 and select Replace Resource option.

6. A new window appears. Click on Open file with new bitmap button.

7. Navigate to the customized (.bmp) image, open it and click on Replace button.

8. Repeat steps 4 to 7 above for the options 6805 and 6809 as well.

9. Now click on Save option (File->Save). Resource Hacker will automatically create a backup file called explorer_original.exe so that you can restore it in the future if needed.

10. Log Off and Log On to see the changes in effect.

NOTE: If you are running 64-bit edition of Windows 7, then you need to use Resource Hacker version 3.5.2 beta which is 64-bit compatible. It is available from the same link provided above.

Every system must store the BIOS password information somewhere. If you are able to access the machine after it has been booted successfully, you may be able to view the BIOS password. Resetting the BIOS Password using Hardware

If you cannot access the machine after if has been powered up, it is still possible to get past the BIOS password. The BIOS password is stored in CMOS memory that is maintained while the PC is powered off by a small battery, which is attached to the motherboard. If you remove this battery, all CMOS information (including the BIOS password) will be lost. You will need to re-enter the correct CMOS setup information to use the machine. The machines owner or user will most likely be alarmed when it is discovered that the BIOS password has been deleted.
On some motherboards, the battery is soldered to the motherboard, making it difficult to remove. If this is the case, you have another alternative. Somewhere on the motherboard you should find a jumper that will clear the BIOS password. If you have the motherboard documentation, you will know where that jumper is. If not, the jumper may be labeled on the motherboard. If you are not fortunate enough for either of these to be the case, you may be able to guess which jumper is the correct jumper. This jumper is usually standing alone near the battery. If you cannot locate this jumper, you might short both of the points where the battery connects to the motherboard.
If all else fails, you may have to clear the BIOS password by resetting the RTC (Real Time Clock) IC (Integrated Circuit) on your motherboard.
Many RTC's require an external battery. If your RTC is one of this type, you can clear the BIOS password just by unsocketing the RTC and reseating it.

Most RTC chips with integrated batteries can be reset to clear the BIOS password by shorting two pins together for a few seconds.

You should be able to discover how to reset the BIOS password stored in most RTC (Real Time Clock) chips by reading the manufacturers data sheet for that RTC. Some RTC's, like the Dallas DS1287 and TI benchmarq bq3287mt cannot be cleared. The solution to resetting the BIOS password on systems with those RTC's is to purchase a replacement RTC chip. How inconvenient!

USB Scripting Tutorial

Hey guys, back after a long time. This time a simple trick for playing with your USB drives on your computers (Hackers cn think the same for others computers as well) .

The autorun.inf file is the key to getting your USB drive (or CD-ROM drive, for that matter) to perform certain actions automatically and customize it’s look in My Computer. The purpose of this article is to shed some light on how this can be done.

Autorun.inf Structure

The autorun.inf file is a simple text file that can be opened up in any text editor (e.g. notepad). It always starts with a section header of:
[autorun]
Below this header is a list of different options. Each of these options is in the following format:
option=value where option is the option that you want to set and value is the value that you are setting for that option. So, if you had an option foo and you wanted to be set to bar, then you would enter:
foo=bar
(Do not use foo=bar in your autorun.inf file as it is only an example, not a real option setting.)
That is all there really is to understand about the structure of an autorun.inf file. On to doing some actual cool stuff with it!

Setting a Custom Icon

To create a custom icon for your USB drive, use the icon option. Set it to the name of the icon file.

Note: Since drive letters can change for USB drives, the file path is relative to the root of the drive. This means that if your USB drive is presently mounted on U: and your icon is located at U:\Icons\MyIcon.ico, then you would enter \Icons\MyIcon.ico for the value of this option.

For example, if you had an icon on the root of the USB drive called coffeecup.ico and you wanted this to be the icon that showed up for the USB drive, you would enter:

icon=coffeecup.ico

You are not limited to .ico files. If, for example, you have an executable with a nice icon, you can specify it as the icon file. For example:

icon=DCoTopen.exe

This is valid as long as DCoTopen.exe is available on the root of the USB drive.
Some files have more than one icon embedded in them. If this is the case, you can select which icon to use by specifing the index number after the file name. For example:

icon=iconlib.dll,2

This will use the second icon in the iconlib.dll file.

Naming Your USB Drive

If you would like your USB drive to display a specific name othr than the drive label created when it is formatted, use the label option. For example, if I wanted to call my drive DCoT Drive, I would add this to my autorun.inf file:

label=DCoT Drive

Now, when you look at your USB drive in My Computer, it will say DCoT Drive by the drive letter.

Setting AutoPlay Options

AutoPlay is a relatively new function of Windows XP. It allows you to set up what file is run when the USB drive is plugged into the computer and the message that you are prompted with. There are two options that work in conjunction with AutoPlay. The first is open. It specifies the program that you can run automatically with AutoPlay. So, if we wanted to run a program called DCoTopen.exe, you would add the this to your autorun.inf file:

open=DCoTopen.exe

The second option that we add is the message the user is prompted with. To set this, we use the action option. If we want the message to say DCoT Open Program, add the following to autorun.inf:
action=DCoT Open Program

Once you have added this information, AutoPlay should look something like this:

Adding Context Menu Items

There are certain basic options such as Open and Explore that are available when you right click on a USB drive. But, wouldn’t it be cool to add your own? You can using a couple of lines in the autorun.inf file.
The first thing that we need to do is create an action, give it a name, and a message. We do all of this using the shell\verb option. For example, let’s say that we would like to create an action called lost. It does not matter what the actin is called. It can be anything you want. We would also like to show the message Help! I’m Lost! in the context menu. We would simply add this line to autorun.inf:

shell\lost=Help! I'm Lost!

This will display Help! I’m Lost! in the context menu so that you can click on it. But, it doesn’t know what to do when you click on it. Tell the system by using shell\verb\command option. In our example, we want to run the Lost.exe application. Adding this line will do the trick:

shell\lost\command=Lost.exe

You can add as many of these line pairs as you want to make the context menu as custom as you want.

Changing Default Action

When you double click on your USB drive, by default it will open up the drive so that you can browse through the files. Often, it is advantageous to perform some other action when the user double clicks the USB drive icon. You do this with the shell option. If we wanted to run the Lost.exe program from the previous section automatically when we double clicked on the USB drive, we would add this line:

shell=lost

because lost is the name of the action that was specified in the earlier lines.

Viewing a File

If you wanted to view a file on your USB drive in the default application instead of running a program on the drive, you can substitute the open option for the shellexecute option. For example, if you wanted to open up a website called, oh, I don’t know, say http://www.hackplanet.in in the default web browser, you could user the following:

shellexecute=http://www.hackplanet.in

This will work for any file. This is the equivalent of using Start - Run… and then typing in a file name and clicking OK.

How To Speed Up My Shutdown Speed in Windows XP

It's not only startup times that you'd like to speed up; you can also make sure that your system shuts down faster. If shutting down XP takes what seems to be an inordinate amount of time, here are a couple of steps you can take to speed up the shutdown process:

Don't have XP clear your paging file at shutdown
For security reasons, you can have XP clear your paging file (pagefile.sys) of its contents whenever you shut down. Your paging file is used to store temporary files and data, but when your system shuts down, information stays in the file. Some people prefer to have the paging file cleared at shutdown, because sensitive information such as unencrypted passwords sometimes ends up in the file.

However, clearing the paging file can slow shutdown times significantly, so if extreme security isn't a high priority, you might not want to clear it. To shut down XP without clearing your paging file, run the Registry Editor and go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
Change the value of ClearPageFileAtShutdown to 0. Close the Registry and restart your computer. Whenever you turn off XP from now on, the paging file won't be cleared, and you should be able to shut down more quickly.

Turn off unnecessary services
Services take time to shut down, so the fewer you run, the faster you can shut down.

So guys, this time m here with a Diff kinda trick rather than a hack one.

This simple trick would make u feel more handy on your System, as this one would make your win XP load much faster..

So here we go..

1. Open notepad.exe, type "del c:\windows\prefetch\ntosboot-*.* /q" (without the quotes) & save as "ntosboot.bat" in c:\
2. From the Start menu, select "Run..." & type "gpedit.msc".
3. Double click "Windows Settings" under "Computer Configuration" and double click again on "Shutdown" in the right window.
4. In the new window, click "add", "Browse", locate your "ntosboot.bat" file & click "Open".
5. Click "OK", "Apply" & "OK" once again to exit.
6. From the Start menu, select "Run..." & type "devmgmt.msc".
7. Double click on "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"
8. Right click on "Primary IDE Channel" and select "Properties".
9. Select the "Advanced Settings" tab then on the device or 1 that doesn't have 'device type' greyed out select 'none' instead of 'autodetect' & click "OK".
10. Right click on "Secondary IDE channel", select "Properties" and repeat step 9.
11. Reboot your computer.

How To Create Your Own Win XP Bootable Live CD

To create a Windows XP Live CD we will require:-

1. Bart PEbuilder
2. A CD burner like Nero
3. A bootable Windows XP CD and
4. Some pebuilder plugins to customize the CD.

Step 1: Download PeBuilder from here and install it. Make sure you have enough free space on the drive where you install the program. After you have finished adding all programs it will create an ISO to be burned into a disk. The size of the ISO will depend upon how many programs you add to your live CD. I would recommend atleast 700MB of free space.

Step 2: You may want to set a wallpaper that will appear on the desktop when you boot the CD. For this open the folder where you have installed PEbuilder and replace the file bartpe.bmp with the wallpaper of your choice.

Step 3: Download XPE plugin from here (direct download link). It's the GUI shell of the XP Live CD that will create the XP start button and taskbar. You are free to download as many plugin (applications) you want. Currently there are more than 500 applications to choose from. Both freewares and commercial applications are available. Antivirus programs like Kaspersky, NOD32, Avast; burning program Nero; media players like VLC; OpenOffice, Foxit PDF reader, Acrobat Reader etc are available.

Step 4: After you have finished downloading all your favourite programs, open PEbuider and specify the source path to the Windows XP installation bootable CD. You can copy the CD to your hard disk and point the source to the copied file.

Step 5: Click Plugins and add all the plugins you have downloaded. Since we have added XPE, disable nu2shell and the startup group from the list of plugins.

Step 6: Specify the ISO image file and click Build. The program will integrate the plugins and create an ISO image.

Step7: Burn the image into a disk using any burning software and your live CD is ready.

How To make An Autorun File For USB Drives

When you plug a USB drive in, you might be interested in making a program, or other things happen as soon as you plug in. The way you accomplish this is through the Autorun.inf file. The autorun.inf file is located in the root of the usb drive and tells Windows what to do automatically.
This autorun can be used to make good, or bad USB’s depending on what you like.

HACK or Simply Change XP Start Button Name

I’ve read a number of articles on the internet about changing the text on the Start button in XP. On more than one occasion I’ve seen references to a five (5) letter limitation when the button is renamed. I always wondered if this was true or just an assumption someone made because the default ‘start’ just happened to fit the button size. So, I decided to run a test and see if there really was a five character limit.

First of all just u need to do is download Resource hacker.
Resource HackerTM is a freeware utility to view, modify, rename, add, delete and extract resources in 32bit Windows executables and resource files (*.res). It incorporates an internal resource script compiler and decompiler and works on Win95, Win98, WinME, WinNT, Win2000 and WinXP operating systems.

First Step The first step is to make a backup copy of the file explorer.exe located at C:\Windows\explorer. Place it in a folder somewhere on your hard drive where it will be safe. Start Resource Hacker and open explorer.exe located at C:\Windows\explorer.exe

The category we are going to be using is String Table In Resource Hacker. Expand it by clicking the plus sign then navigate down to and expand string 37 followed by highlighting 1033. If you are using the Classic Layout rather than the XP Layout, use number 38. The right hand pane will display the stringtable as shown in Fig. 02. We’re going to modify item 578, currently showing the word “start” just as it displays on the current Start button.

There is no magic here. Just double click on the word “start” so that it’s highlighted, making sure the quotation marks are not part of the highlight. They need to remain in place, surrounding the new text that you’ll type. Go ahead and type your new entry.

Second Step – Modify the Registry Now that the modified explorer.exe has been created it’s necessary to modify the registry so the file will be recognized when the user logs on to the system. If you don’t know how to access the registry I’m not sure this article is for you, but just in case it’s a temporary memory lapse, go to Start (soon to be something else) Run and type regedit in the Open: field. Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\ Winlogon

the Right pane (Fig. 05), double click the Shell entry to open the Edit String dialog box as shown in Fig. 06. In Value data: line, enter the name that was used to save the modified explorer.exe file. Click OK.

Close Registry Editor and either log off the system and log back in, or reboot the entire system if that’s your preference. If all went as planned you should see your new Start button with the revised text.
