Katrina Kaif Act In Mere Brother Ki Dulhan

The latest buzz in tinsel town is that Barbie doll Katrina Kaif has moved on from acting to singing. She will lend her voice in a song in her upcoming film “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan” opposite chocolate boy Imran Khan. She had earlier sung a nursery rhyme for music maestro A R Rahman’s album of nursery rhymes. It was her co-star Ali Zafar who had convinced her to sing a song in the film.

A source stated “Katrina was not really in the mood to try out something new. She has just started to get a grasp over her spoken Hindi. It was Ali who convinced her.” The source added “Ali Zafar has sung three songs in the film and Katrina has sung one of the tracks composed by Sohail Sen.” Sohail Sen the music composer of the film however stated, “We still haven’t decided on the singers.”

Aishwarya Rai & Dustin Hoffman Meet Together

Aishwarya and Hoffman reportedly met in Los Angeles at an exhibition basketball game at Staples Center. Hoffman had come with his son Jake, and Ash was with her husband Abhishek Bachchan.

Reports say Ash and Hoffman bonded for some time on the sidelines of the game. They spoke about films. The meeting was more than just a mere exchange of pleasantries but still did not last long as the two got busy cheering up the basketball teams they supported.

Aishwarya and Abhishek have also been invited to the Oscars this year, as was revealed by Amitabh Bachchan recently. In fact Ashutosh Gowariker is also expected to attend the gala awards night.

According to reliable sources, South Indian beauty Asin has been approached by the makers of South Indian superstar Rajinikanth's next film Rana to be directed by K.S. Ravikumar under the banner of Eros International and Chennai based Ocher Studios.

The sources said even a one-line summary of the script has been narrated to the actress and she is keen to team up with the super star, since the script fascinates her and the film has A.R. Rahman composing the tracks. Notably, Asin had worked with Ravikumar earlier in Varalaru. Meanwhile, Rana is said to be a live action magnum opus with Rajinikanth playing a triple role. Made in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu, the film will go on floors in March and will hit screens in early 2012.

Aishwarya clarifies that though she was really unwell, she went to Singapore for the award night in advance and never threw any tantrums.

Recently there were media reports claiming that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan threw tantrums at an award function in Singapore.

However the actress has refuted these reports and issued a clarification statement mentioning that though she was really unwell, she went to Singapore for the award night in advance and she never even mentioned a change or suggested otherwise than what was planned by the organizers, putting the award first and her personal comfort later. She went for her rehearsal late at night when all had finished with their respective rehearsals. At the rehearsal she insisted with the choreographer to send back the dance troupe as they had been rehearsing all day and used the services of two of the choreographer's assistants to do a run through and basically saw her whole act performed by them.

The next day her scheduled rehearsals timing was changed on the last moment, hence she did not get a slot to rehearse on stage and stayed back and practiced in her room with a dancer, so disrupting anyone's schedule was just out of question. She walked the red carpet because the organizers requested her presence on the red carpet as the international media was eagerly awaiting her. Further she went onto to perform her act.

Bunty Walia, MD of GS Entertainment that manages Aishwarya's stage shows says, "Inspite of being unwell with a viral flu Aishwarya did her rehearsals as scheduled in Singapore and fulfilled all her professional commitments". Shirin Morani, the one in touch with Aishwarya for her rehearsals, adds, "She gave no stress to us at all. She came to rehearsals on the time given to her by us and even though she wanted more time to rehearse she could not because of the others rehearsals that were going on. She was very cooperative and she went out of her way to understand and accommodate all requests".

Madhuri Desires To Open Dance School

Her career took a backseat after her wedding, but Bollywood's dancing diva Madhuri Dixit is seriously thinking about fulfilling her dream of opening a dance schools chain across the world.

"I don't have an immediate, ready plan to open my dance school, but I really want to do something like that and hopefully, god willing, I will do it," Madhuri told IANS. "The plans are in my head right now. It will be multi-genre school where various dance forms will be taught. I am speaking as if everything is ready... but it is my dream. If I do it, it will be everywhere," she added.

After shifting base to Denver following her wedding in 1999 to Shriram Nene, the 43-year-old kept in touch with her dance through practice sessions at home. "I started practicing my kathak there and that's something that gave me a lot of joy," said the trained Kathak dancer.

Now the actress has two children - Arin, 7 and Ryan, 5, and she wants to wait for some more time to put her plans for the dance school in place. "My children are really young right now. When I get some more time... I will focus on the dance school," she said.

As of now, she is enjoying her stint on Sony TV's "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4" as a judge along with actress Malaika Arora Khan and choreographer Remo D'Souza, and maintains that she doesn't miss the glitzy cinema life when she is back home.

"I miss Mumbai for the energy of the city and because there are a lot of friends in the city. I miss my craft sometimes but I don't miss the other stuff that goes with Bollywood because I was never part of it. I have enjoyed every moment of my life - have never had any regrets. I am glad I took a break for my children because I wanted to be with them in their formative years," said Madhuri.

The co-stars of “Anjaana Anjaani” Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra are having a silent war.

This was best seen at a fashion show where the two were to walk the ramp but did not interact with each other in the green house.

The remaining celebrities present at the fashion show Shilpa Shetty, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan AkhtarFarhan Akhtar and Karan Johar cheered for each other, Priyanka and Ranbir did little. The two ignored each other’s presence.

The real reason behind their rift is still unknown although sources state that Katrina is not comfortable with Ranbir maintaining a friendship with Priyanka and similar is Shahid’s reaction.

Katrina Kaif Set To Play Double Role In Her Forthcoming Film

Barbie doll Katrina Kaif will be seen playing a double role in Dibakar Banerjee’s upcoming film. Katrina will be seen in two new avatars.

“Yes, she has been approached for the film, where she’ll be playing a double role. Katrina too has shown a keen interest in the project and is trying to work out the dates with Dibaker.”

The source said further, “She’s excited with the prospect of playing a double role, as it’s something she hasn’t done before.”

Earlier in one of her interviews Katrina admitted that she would love to play a double role on-screen. Buzz was in the air that Katrina will be seen in a double role in Zoya Akhtar’s remake of “Seeta Aur Geeta”.

But the project did not take off. Katrina is presently working opposite Imran KhanImran Khan in “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan”.

With respect to being paired opposite Imran she stated, “It was great connecting with Imran as he is closer to me in age, as compared to most of my previous co-stars, except Ranbir (Kapoor).”

Amitabh Bachchan No Longer IIFA Brand Ambassador

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who has been the brand ambassador of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards since their inception in 2000, will no longer perform the role – and the concept itself has been dropped.

‘Due to unexplainable reasons, after announcing the event, Mr. Bachchan couldn’t participate in the IIFA Weekend in Sri Lanka last year. Following this, IIFA aborted the concept of a Brand Ambassador,’ Sabbas Joseph, director, Wizcraft entertainment that organizes the event, said in a statement.

‘Keeping in mind the huge respect that Wizcraft and IIFA have for Mr. Bachchan and the deep relationship that we’ve always shared, we are not having anyone replace Mr. Bachchan.

‘The Bachchan family has been an intrinsic part of IIFA every year, and in this regard we have already shared with them a proposal about their participation this year too. Mr Bachchan’s reason for non-participation is best known to him. IIFA and Mr.Bachchan are inseparable. We will continue to pursue his participation for this year too,’ Joseph said.

However, there could be more to this than meets the eye as Amitabh confirmed the parting of ways on his Twitter account but put the onus on the IIFA.

‘Not coming to Toronto IIFA…IIFA says my services are not required,’ he Tweeted.

Aishwarya was honoured Friday as the best actress (female) jury choice for her outstanding performance in the sensitive and challenging role of Sofia in 'Guzaarish' that also starred Hrithik Roshan as a paraplegic patient. Awards Don’t Matter Much To Me

Actress Kareena Kapoor says she prefers to be on holiday with friends and in Switzerland during the award season here as awards don’t matter much to her since they are mostly offered to undeserving candidates.

‘Awards doesn’t matter much to me. Lot of award functions requested me to attend them but I chose to go to Switzerland because that’s the only time in the year that I get to spend with my family and loved ones,’ Kareena told reporters after the launch of her dietician Rujuta Diwekar’s book

‘Women and the Weight Loss Tamasha’ at Taj Lands End Hotel here Saturday.

Asked if she believes that the awards are rigged, she said: ‘I am not sure but it’s seems so because who don’t attend, their names are never declared in award ceremonies. Those who don’t deserve, they get the awards and those who deserve, they land up enjoying pizzas at home.’

Kareena has written a chapter in Rujuta’s book on her request.

‘When Rujuta asked me to write something for her book, first I thought that I am not a professional writer, but then why don’t I just write something so that when readers read it, they get to know more about Kareena Kapoor. What is her basic, genuine kind of nature comes out across from the chapter because I have written it straight from the heart,’ she said.

Kareena is set to start shooting for ‘Bodyguard’ on 16th where she plays the female lead opposite Salman Khan.

‘Tomorrow (Sunday) I am going to start shooting ‘Bodyguard’. It’s a remake of a South Indian film. I think there the girl’s character is very performance oriented so they approached me,’ said Kareena.

Five-film-old actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, who has been striving hard to make a hit with a blockbuster, turned 29 Saturday. And he was showered with greetings and blessings from many including friends Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor.

Instead of making his debut with the usual love story, Neil chose a negative role in the 2007 crime thriller ‘Johnny Gaddar’. Then followed ‘Aa Dekhen Zara’, ‘Jail’, ‘New York’ and ‘Lafangey Parindey’.

The birthday boy showed clear signs of excitement, as he wished himself.

‘Happy birthday to me,’ Neil posted on his Twitter account.

Sonam Kapoor Donates 3000 Kites To Her Alma Mater!

Whatever actress Sonam Kapoor does, she does it in style, be it her swanky dresses in Aisha or donating gifts for charity. Sonam bought 3000 kites and “phirkis” for the occasion of Makar Sakranti, but not for herself of course, she gifted them to the tiny tots at “Arya Vidya Mandir” school in Juhu which happens to be her alma mater. She was not physically present as she was out of town for some shoot. She did write to the principle of “Arya Vidya Mandir” apologizing for her absence.

She also mentioned in the letter that the strings sent along with the kites are not glass coated but normal cotton ones. Glass coated razor sharp strings can cause serious injuries to birds flying up in the sky and she being a member of PETA, wanted to spread the awareness. She also mentioned that as a kid, she very seriously injured herself once with the “maanja,” and did not want the same to happen to the kids of “Arya Vidya Mandir.” She mentioned that she badly wanted to be present at the school and personally give away the kites but could not do so.

A PETA spokes person mentioned that children love animals and they would never want to hurt them intentionally. If awareness can be spread among these kids, then it will automatically trigger the usage of cotton strings. Children must know that “maanjas” are equally harmful for them and other living creatures.

Kareena Kapoor To Launch Her Dietician’s New Book On January 15th

Bebo has earlier launched Rujuta’s book titled ‘Don’t Lose Your Mind, Lose Your Weight’. For the latest one, Kareena has also given her voice for the narration of the complementary audio-book, which will be offered with the main book.

Kareena will fly down from Switzerland to launch the book titled ‘Women and the Weight Loss Tamasha’ in Mumbai on 15th January. The actress is now enjoying her holidays with beau Saif Ali Khan. Bebo has also written a personal note for each copy of the book.

The book will deal with on issues like food and everything, related to a woman’s health starting from puberty to marriage to pregnancy and then menopause. Bebo has been part of the entire process of bringing the book in front of the readers

Rujuta added that Kareena is very busy with her film projects, so she never thought the actress can give the narration. But to her surprise, Kareena expressed her desire to narrate her part when she came to know about the audio-book.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Escapes Clumsy Moment With Salman

At the recently held 17th Annual Star Screen Awards, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan avoided a potentially awkward moment with Salman Khan, with dignity and some quick thinking.

A source present at the event said, "The closing act of the awards was performed by Aishwarya on many of her popular hits. As she reached the backstage much ahead of time for her performance, she decided to rest at the nearby lounge till her performance was announced. But before Ash could enter the lounge she bumped into Vidya Balan and the two exchanged pleasantries for some time.

After her conversation Ash went inside, glanced around and was seen walking out of the room swiftly. Ash stood quietly outside and refused to budge till her performance was announced."When the organisers of the show, Cineyug, and the people around were wondering about the reason for Ash's sudden exit, Salman Khan was suddenly spotted casually strolling out of the lounge.

"It was obvious that Salman was inside (the lounge) but Ash with her usual poise, assessed a potentially embarrassing situation and left quickly thus averting it completely. After Salman left, a crew member rushed to Aishwarya and told her that she could now probably go and relax at the lounge but Ash refused and stayed outside," the source said.

The source also informed that while Aishwarya rushed out from the lounge, Salman appeared to be perfectly calm and collected even after spotting his ex-girlfriend. "Salman has moved on and has no issues about bumping into anyone anywhere. He was relaxing with some friends and when he spotted Ash, he appeared unmoved and continued with his conversation."
