La Distancia is great !!! No te olvida
This is the 2nd spanish album of brazilian singer SIMONE. The album is one of the best of her career. In 1992, the musician association of Argentina indicated La Distancia as the best album of the year. Many other countries who speaks spanish had the same position about the album. So.. it is absolutely fabulous and you have to listen those songs. Simone looks great and her performance of La Barca tastes like a brazilian sound. The main title song, La Distancia, a hit by the "King" ( O REI ) Roberto Carlos and Erasmo Carlos, is algo a great moment. In my humble oppinion.. you must have La Distancia! Para los amigos de latino america, este es un regalo de Brasil, para todos usteds. Simone eh nuestra reina de la cancion e La Distancia presenta un momento donde Brasil e Latino America son solo uno. The best mexican young singer
Myriam has the best young voice in Mexico, and her way of interpretation is beautiful and wonderfull. This is her third disk inedit and is a mix of ballads and group music.
The best for me are the ballads: "Perdida en otra piel", "Cuando tu lo deseas" y "Lo que siento es amor"
Myriam tiene la mejor voz joven femenina en Mexico, ella si tiene el carisma y talento suficiente para triunfar. Su forma de Interpretar las canciones es unica y maravillosa. Este es su tercer disco inedito, despues de la Academia. Es una buena mezcla entre baladas y musica Grupera.
Contiene intensas baladas como "PErdida en otra piel", "Cuando tu lo deseas" y "Lo que siento es amor", los temas gruperos estan bien, muy danzables, destacando para mi "NEgra Pena", "Hoy que te vas", "Fuego y Pasion" "No quiero renunciar" y el titulo del disco.

I was somewhat anxious to hear this cd and for the most part I am quite satisfied with the material. I had never heard of this band, they were not promoted at all well. I first heard the song "Medias Negras" about a year ago on the radio without knowing who sang it. I had to search for it on the internet. "Medias Negras" is a really good song, it has very nostalgic feel, sort of like a story that you keep to yourself for years and then forget it altogether for more years, then it suddenly comes to mind and you treasure its memory. Some other good songs include "De rodillas te pido" (a very popular song, this is one of many covers), "Tu naciste para mi", "Casita de adobe", and "Nacimos para amarnos". Overall, I recommend this product if you like "Medias Negras" and wouldn't mind spending a little bit of cash for this and other songs.

One of the best latin albums of 2005
I have been a Chichi Peralta fan from his beginnings and i compare this CD with his first production "amor narcótico": full of joy, lyrics, rhythm!

La Zalamera: Full of rhythm, techno, bass...definitely you have to shake at least your shoulders! One of my favorites.

Rumores del barrio: Salsa-son about "gossips in the neighborhood", a very typical situation in Dominican Republic, talking about everyone's lifes.

Un rato en la gloria: Talks about the sadly situation of youngs prostitutes, good lyrics with nice rhythm.

Más que suficiente: It's about the relationship with God and its love. Its a soft song with great combination of sound elements only as Chichi knows to do.

Cuenta la historia: Recounts about another Dominican Republic drama: Passionate crimes, women and their children killed by their jealous husbands.

Te pienso: Another great song that talks about the beautifull feelings of love. Nice to dance with your own love.

Hoy he vuelto a pensar en ti: Nice, nice, nice, nice...!

Tamborada: Another of my favorites!

Mire a vei: Rythmical love song. My third favorite!

Oceano: Soft Jazz-bolero-bachata fusion about love

Chichi achieved in this album another great fusion: Social complaint and love wrapped in a rhythmical and danceable work.

Another Winner
If there's any validity to the adage that time improves all good things, Juan Gabriel's most recent release, Inocente De Ti, proves it true. The CD arrived in Mexico in January 2004 as Gabriel celebrated his 54th birthday. Time has been good to the Mexican icon, and the quality and variety he offers his fans in this CD illustrate it. The first couple tracks, including the title track, run a little slow-great Gabriel for when you're in that laid back mood. If you're feeling a little friskier, however, hold on for songs like "Amor Profundo" which is quite unlike what we've heard from Gabriel in the past. Call it big band, call it swing-call it the genius of Gabriel once again treading beyond the confines of the traditional. "Amándote" is another upbeat number as is "Como Te Quiero" whose backup vocals are synthesized. If you yearn for the sounds of Mexico, check out "Idilio." The most delightfully painful rendition on this CD comes in the form of "Loco Enamorado." Backed up by subdued Mariachi, Gabriel shows that he has not lost his touch in making songs to cry by. "El Fin" is another tune to accompany tears in the tequila. He provides his own vocals in harmony, a feature that is becoming more and more popular with this delightful pop singer. Even the best can't be perfect and Gabriel has been known to have a few off days-days when his voice reflects the strain of 30-plus years in the music business. There's no off day on this CD. The entire production is top-notch. His renditions are honey-smooth and he demonstrates all of the elements that have made him famous, including the little hiccup in his voice at just the right places. Gabriel's charismatic showmanship doesn't come across as it does in his finest works, the two live CDs and videos at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, but for a studio production, Inocente De Ti is as good as it gets. Gabriel is the author of all of the numbers and the lyrics are provided on the insert. The insert also includes a statement of an unsettling nature. He writes (translated from Spanish), "I want to show my appreciation to BMG for their support during all of these years in this, my second to the last project, with them. Juan Gabriel." What could this mean?

Superb -- Magnifico!
I am puzzled at some of these reviews. I heard some of these songs on the radio and had to research it to find the artist. I bought this one and the greatest hits, just to learn more about Chayanne. This CD is amazing! My favorite is "No Se por Que" but there are several other really excellent songs on here. The quality of the production is also very good. On the other hand, I found the "Grandes Exitos" to be aburrido -- boring. The songs on the "Grandes Exitos" are pretty mediocre -- they sound like the typical formula pop songs -- not bad but just not all that moving or interesting. So I'm astounded that people are trashing this CD. Hey - lucky me though, I got a used copy here really cheap!

The beautiful music of Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66
The pianist and composer Sergio Mendes shows off his beautiful Brazilian-like music plenty of good pop melodies and arrangements. If The Beatles lived in Rio de Janeiro, Sergio Mendes would replace George Martin. He catched the real 60's pop spirit and mixed it with his Brazilian style, bossa nova, Latin and jazz roots for this mainstream oriented band. He is supported by marvelous musicians: bassist Bob Matthews, drummer João Palma and percusionist José Soares, and the singers Lani Hall and Janis Hansen that make a superb work with their voices, plenty of delightful harmonies. There're a good balance between the proper music and the voices. This record is recognized as lighter and more easy-listening than the jazz music usually made Sergio Mendes in U.S.A. It's easy-listening, but it isn't elevator music.

This is the first Sergio Mendes album for A&M in U.S.A., the producer was Herb Alpert; it became a big exit, with excellents songs as 'Mas Que Nada,' 'The Joker', the Beatles cover 'Day Tripper' or Jobim's 'Aqua de Beber (Water to Drink).'

Unfortunately this is a short LP, it only takes 26 minutes long. Such as their first and second album for A&M together would fit on one single CD.

I gave it four stars only because I keep five for their second LP 'Equinox.'

Realmente una buena produccion y una de sus mejores a el lado de "Con Amor Se Gana," "No Me Compares," y "Lo Que Llevo Por Dentro." La mejor cancion de el disco es "Lento," por sus bellos arreglos y letras. La voz de Frankie sonaba mejor que sono en el disco "Inesperado." Otras buenas canciones incluyen "Todo Es Mentira," "Tu Voz," el titulo de el disco "Amanecer Contigo," "Venus De Abril," "Lloro Por Ti," "Juremonos," y "No Renionciare." Todavia le falta un disco excelente, quizas lo logra en su proximo proyecto.

Chayanne would enjoy regular success, releasing hit albums roughly every two years: Tiempo de Vals (1990), Provocame (1992), Influencias (1994), Volver a Nacer (1996), Atado a Tu Amor (1998), Simplemente (2000), Sincero (2003), Cautivo (2005). Each sold better than its predecessor, for the most part. Greatest-hits compilations such as Grandes Exitos (2002) and Desde Siempre (2005) would also be issued from time to time. Chayanne's hits are too numerous to list, though it is worth pointing out his particularly industrious association with songwriter Estéfano. Soda Stereo "Nada Personal" Album Review

'¿Cuanto Habre Cambiado? ¿Que Se Habra Gastado?'
'Nada Personal' es un excelente disco de Soda Stereo eidtado en 1985. Es el segundo LP de la banda, continuación de 'Soda Stereo', el disco debut. Como ellos mismos decían entonces, este era el disco donde debían probar si eran una banda pasajera, o si realmente había algo más allá de esa musica un tanto liviana que habían presentado en su primer trabajo.

El resultado es un disco increible. Segun palabras del propio Gustavo Cerati, 'estaba aprendiendo a hacer canciones'. Abierto a todo tipo de influencias, se produce un cambio notable. Se pasa de las descripciones cotidianas y el tono burlon de una banda adolescente, a la representacion de oscuras imagenes que descansaban en algun lugar del inconsciente de Cerati desde hacía tiempo. Se abre un nuevo camino que llegara a su cumbre años despues...

Un analisis personal, tema por tema:

1. 'Nada Personal': Tema que da nombre al disco. La idea que sugiere la letra ubica a la banda en su propio espacio, esta es la idea que la enfrenta al rsto del ambito musical. Esa busqueda de alejarse del estereotipo, de no encontrar algo con lo que identificarse, son las ideas constantes que permaneceran en Soda Stereo hasta el final. Comienzan las ironias, los dobles sentidos, las referencias cargadas con un tanto de erotimos ('Sinceramente seria tan bueno tocarte, pero es inutil, tu cuerpo es de latex'). Es la puerta de entrada a este gran trabajo, y uno de los hits que sobrevivieron al tiempo.

2. 'Si No Fuera Por...': El tema tal vez menos elaborado del LP. Aunque tiene un ritmo pegadizo, es mas coherente con el primer disco que con este. La letra es una simplre enumaración de hechos, faltan esas referencias tan caracteristicas en las composiciones de Cerati. Aun si se dislumbra parte de esa idea, esa separacion de lo comun y la busqueda de algo que no se tan obvio, de lo diferente no por que sea distinto, si no por que es realmente mejor.

3. 'Cuando Pase El Temblor': Gran hit de la banda. Presente en todos los conciertos, este tema identifica al Soda Stereo de los '80 (junto a 'Persiana Americana y 'En La Ciudad De La Furia'). El video clip del tema, filmado por Alfredo Lois en el Norte de la Argentina, fue muy bien recibido y tuvo buenas criticas. Sobre el ritmo de la cancion mucho se ha escrito, Gustavo Cerati ha dicho en su momento que este tema no se parece a nada que hubieran hecho antes. Realmente suena novedoso, y se incorporan algunos efectos, que luego serian caracteristicos de la banda. La letra, un tanto oscura, es inspirada por un terremoto sucedido en un pais Latinoamericano que produjo gran impacto en Cerati. Haciendo una doble lectura, se pueden encontrar sin embargo referencias a los riesgos de la popularidad, algo a lo que la banda se enfrentaria a partir de su proximo LP, 'Signos'.

4. 'Danza Rota': Un tema simple, pero con una letra inteligente, que nos habla de otra vez de esa busqueda de lo unico y especial, pero esta vez poniendose a merced de otro, como entrgandose a la idea de que uno puedo a veces ceder a la tentacion o a determinadas obsesioes, y perder el control de uno mismo ('Dame Una Pista, Algun Rastro Para Hallarte.'; 'Hay Anarquia En Mis Movimientos, Y Al Mismo Tiempo, Alguien Los Controla').

5. 'El Cuerpo Del Delito': Lo que mas se destaca en este tema es el bajo impresionante de Zeta Bosio. Este disco es tal vez en el que mas brilla este instrumento; Zeta juega con su bajo como en ningun otro disco. La letra, un tanto fantasiosa, sirve sin embargo como marco para una historia, un juego en el que Cerati se libera de esas imagenes y esos paisajes, y se refiere a cosas concretas, la idea del escape, de burlar a la autoridad, de esconderse. Un anticipo a 'Profugos', tal vez.

6. 'Juego De Seduccion': Otro de los grandes hits de la banda. Musicalmente es impresionante, la guitarra de Cerati brilla como nunca, la intro muestra la gran sincronia de la banda. Un tema elaborado, acompañado de una de las mejores letras de Gustavo. Hay en ella romance, obsesion, fantasia y erotismo. Elementos presentes en general en sus compisiciones, pero conjugados aqui como nunca, con gran perfeccion ('Voy A Ser Tu Mayordomo, y Vos Haras El Rol De Señora Bien. O Puedo Ser Tu Violador, La Imaginacion Esta Noche Todo Lo Puede').

7. 'Estoy Azulado': Compuesta por Gustavo Cerati y Richard Coleman, ocasional colaborador de la banda, miembro del grupo Friccion (Banda integrada por Gustavo Cerati simultaneamente durante los primero tiempo de Soda Stereo). La intro, un solo de saxofon, es inesperada y refrescante, oscura, distinta, novedosa. El tema abre luego con un gran juego de guitarras, y un gran bajo por parte de Zeta Bosio. Musicalmente, uno de los mejores temas del disco. La letra, otra vez las imagenes y las representaciones, hablan sobre el cambio, sobre el impacto de otro en uno. Esta idea de cuanto cambia uno con el tiempo y las circunstancias, sera una constante en las compociones de Cerati ('¿Cuando Habre Cambiado? ¿Que Se Habra Gastado? Podria Comunicarme, Pero Siento Tanto La Erosion').

8. 'Observandonos (Satelites)': Este tema puede sonar en principio mas inocente que los anteriores, pero en su letra manifiesta claramente las mimas ideas presentes a lo largo del disco. Es un poco tambien la fantasia post Guerra Fria y del auge de la tecnologia. Esa idea de sentirse observado sin embargo tambien expresa un temor al propio entorno, la paranoia y la obsesion que reinan en el mundo de Soda Stereo de esta decada. El ritmo es bailable tambien, y es de los temas mas faciles de aceptar luego de los mencionados hits.

9. 'Imagenes Retro': Debe destacarse en primer lugar la gran bateria de Charly Alberti. En este tema, la banda se luce y se consolida como trio. La letra es de las mas oscuras, y anticipa el gran final del disco. Nuevamente obsesiones, temores. Encontramos tal vez a un Cerati mas vulnerable, enfrentando sus miedos y temiendo tal vez a ese futuro incierto. Siempre que se aproxima a algo nuevo e incierto, surge esa melaconlia por la pasado. Esta idea se hace presente en el siguiente tema.

10. 'Ecos': Ultimo tema del disco. La intro obsesiva, con la incoporacion de un teclado, nos sumerge en una especia de letargo, en un camino oscuro que de repente colisiona con la bateria y la guitarra, y una voz lejana cantando una letra sugestiva. El tema se enfrenta nuevamente a los estereotipos, a la incanzable busqueda de no nuevo, y el desprecion de esos fantasmas y ecos que repiten las mismas ideas. Esa fantasia del espacio incompleto, de llenar los vacios, es traslandadolo a la realidad la actitud que tendra la banda a lo largo de su carrera. Completar esos espacion que otros no han sabido llenar, esa actitud que tantos admiradores y detractores le han hecho conseguir. Una actitud que luego continuara Gustavo Cerati en solitario, y siempre obteniendo las mismas respuestas.

La Onda concert
I saw this talented high enery group perform in Feb 2006 at The Fiesta de La Feria in Texas. Kids from 3 to 60 years old just got up and started dancing in the streets of our small city. Those of us who couldn't dance were tapping our feet or just clapping our hands, but every one who heard the music participated. And they play and sing live just as good as what you hear on the CD.

A group of our volunteer firemen had congregated at the side of the stage, and the two girls in the group started flirting with the boys during the songs. The fire fighters faces blushed redder than their fire engines when the attractive girls asked over the loud speakers which of the men were single. It was all in fun.

A little later in the evening the girls in La Onda joined the group Control for a couple of songs. The crowd roared in approval as they listened to best of the best in cumbia music.

La Onda performed songs from the La Fiesta CD. If you want to get into a happy mood, this group will take you there. Be warned that after you listen to this album you will become hooked on La Onda.

Marcio Faraco is one of the finest Brazilian musicians playing today. He is well known in France (where he lives) and other parts of Europe, though little known in the US. I emailed Marcio Faraco around the time COM TRADICAO. his 3rd album, was coming out. I speak no Portuguese and he knows little English. It didn't matter. He said that COM TRADICAO was a happier album than his previous two. Maybe it contains less "saudado" - that untranslatable Brazilian feeling. Com Tradicao is filled with an infectious joy that begins on the first track. Musically, this is the most diverse of Marcio's four recordings -- all of which are worth having. In addition to Marcio's lilting acoustic guitar, Com Tradicao has clarinet, pedal steel guitar, bass clarinet, a mandolin-sounding instrument from Brazil, and others, along with some of the finest percussion I have ever heard. His song craft is just as diverse, ballads, bossa nova and samba injected with rhythm & blues. Just get it...and listen.

Vico C is an amazing rapper. I disagree with the people who say that he is a reggeaton singer because rap has always been his ambition. He is Puerto Rican and grew up in Brooklyn,NY. His inspiration was D.M.C. The reason he talks a lot about God and the reason that his lyrics and music are different from many other rappers is because he suffered a severe car accident that left him almost dead. After surviving, he has tried his best to keep his music in focus with God. I think that this is one of the main reasons of why he has been a big hit not only in Puerto Rico but also worldwide. His music is clean and brings a positive message to young and old and it doesn't talk about sex, which is the main subject of reggeaton. In fact, the song "Se Escaman" says "Esto es pa'que vean que no todo lo que vende es sexo", which translates to "This is to let y'all know that not only sex is sold". This new CD, Desahogo, talks a lot about society issues and how we as humans, who will never be perfect, can keep ourselves clean from things that aren't worth getting in to (drugs,violence[gangs],alcohol,ect.)If your really like good lyrics and clean messages with hip-hop, reggeaton, and caribbean beats, then you WILL like this CD.

Za Za Za is worth purchasing just for El Za Za Za (Mesa Que Mas Aplauda.) You don't have to understand Spanish to appreciate this song. It is impossible to hear the simple, yet attention-grabbing, "za za za, y ya tu za, y ya tu za," without dancing. El Baila de la Tortuga y el Caiman equally forces you on the dance floor. Cumbia Con Sabor, Bienvenidos, and Entree El Y Yo deomonstrate Climax's versatility, and El Chupi Chupi is not an excellent song....but it is quite entertaining.

The first two songs are definately the best on the Cd. The other songs are good, Himno Climax for its beats, and Todo la Noche for its tranquility, however they are not anywhere near the same quality as El Za Za Za. Four stars is probably generous for this CD, but three stars does not accurately rate the quality of El Za Za Za, El Baila de la Tortuga, or even Mueve Tu Cuerpo. Not only do I recommend this CD, I don't recommend having a Quincinera, Baptismo, or any other celebration without playing at least one track from this CD.

Super!-
This is an incredible production by one the finest voices that bachata has to offer. For those of you who are fans of Frank Reyes surely enough you are aware of his gifted talent, definitely an artist who was born to sing. Frank Reyes has developed into one of bachata's premier modern greats and has definitely contributed to the surge of bachata music that is now capturing the attention of "tropical music " listeners all around the world. I think this album "Extrano mi pueblo" is one Frank's bests because in it he combined all the essential components of "la buena bachata" which are: meaningful lyrics, catchy rhythms and clear and convincing vocal abilities. This album has many great songs that can easily become personal favourites such as: "Orgullo de mas", "Extrano mi pueblo", "De mis males tu tienes la culpa" y "Con el amor no se juega". I highly recommend this album if you are a follower of bachata music. Also worthy of mention are two other great releases by Frank: "Vine a decirte adios", an undescribable production and "Amor en silencio", possibly his best ever. Overall you can't go wrong with any album by Frank Reyes but in particular his last four productions are spectacular. This album is worthy of your patronage.

This one reminds me of Carta de Verano
Joe Veras' latest release (Carta de verano 2003) has inspired me to go back and listen to all his albums that I own and this one really reminds me of Carta de verano which is a tremendous production. Joe Veras, a pillar bachatero in the Dominican Republic really exemplifies the beauty and magical mystique of bachata through his music. As usual the lyrics are moving and he scores again with his hypnotic rhythms. The merengues on this cd are great too especially track #4. I can't stress this enough, Joe Veras is an incredible bachata artist who is leaving quite legacy for himself. I just hope there are as many other avid followers of his music who share my point of view. All the bachatas on this cd are terrific. The ones that became popular are: El molde, Asi es la vida, Corazon callado & El amor es ciego. Go for it, you deserve it, buy the album, you will see what I mean.

Going strong
It took a little too long for people to realize how much talent these guys had and how much their songs were worth. It took too long for many "fresas" to say "Osea, estos chavos no son nada nacos." The truth is, Intocable va pa' largo! This CD is good. I was skeptical about DJ Kane, Natalia LaFourcade, and the rest of the people performing some of Intocable's best rolas, but it turned out to be great. Both CD's are amazing.

They never played to what was novel or cute. They stuck with the elemental music from the earth on which they stood. So much of Africa has been deleted from the music in order to pretty it up for newer generations. Not Pucho. He remains true to the soul of his fathers and the soul of his time. Mellow mixed with Upbeat Euphoria
An overall good album for the jazz or brazilian enthusiast, but only a few tracks that I absolutely love. These tracks, however, I can listen to on and on and have yet to grow tired of. "Capoeira Love Affair" is a beautiful song, haunting portuguese vocals in the background. "Suco" is a typical upbeat latin jazz piece; I love the bass and piano, and the nice muted brass. The rest of the album, however, cannot be played extensively without growing tired of the boring and overly-optimistic lyrics. Nice instrumentation; unfortunately the vocals overwhelm.

Brazilian instrumental "choro novo" at its best!
Rabo de Lagartixa are among Brazil's finest "choro novo" musicians who manage to achieve the impossible: to preserve the great choro instrumental tradition, and to push the envelope forward into the year 2002. The traditional 7-stringed guitar (played fantastically by the great Marcello Gonçalves) and percussion (the renowned Beto Cazes), are joined by acoustic bassist Alexandre Brasil, and the unmistakable sound of Daniela Spielmann on soprano (and alto) sax. The result is joyful, inventive, yet definitely Brazilian. This is a truly great CD.

Willy Chirino nos hace un `Hechizo de Luna'

Willy Chirino regresa con su más reciente creación de música en su último disco compacto Son del Alma (2004). Si, su nuevo tema saleroso, ardiente y bailable para el verano del 2005 es `Hechizo de Luna'. Nos dice "Esta noche será especial nos iremos para la playa. Tambores, arena y mar, canciones de mi guitarra. Dorada tienes la piel bailando sobre la arena. Se enciende mi corazón, hechizo de luna llena." Bailaremos y a cantaremos en compañía de esa persona especial. Lo he dicho!

Al informarle a un compañero que mi siguiente articulo seria acerca de Willy Chirino, me miro y seriamente comento, "Creo que el es uno de los artistas mas subestimados de nuestra generación." Yo estuve de acuerdo. Aunque Zarabanda (1985), Acuarelas del Caribe (1990), Asere (1995), y Afro-disac (2000) llegaron a conquistar discos de oro, creo que Willy Chirino es más conocido en el área de Miami, Florida, que en otras partes de los Estados Unidos e America.

La primera vez que escuche una de sus creaciones fue interpretada por otro artista, Lissette. Esa canción es un clásico que a sido interpretado por muchos artistas hispanos parlantes incluyendo a Celia Cruz. La canción es, por supuesto, `Soy' y fue uno de sus primeros éxitos a mediados de los anos setenta.

La letra de esa canción continua siendo parte de mi corazón y creo que en todas las almas de los emigrantes de mi época. El coro dice, "Soy, como la brisa, que... siempre de prisa, no... no anuncia su partida. Y como el dinero soy... donde yo quiera voy... sin una despedida." Esta canción me recuerda mucho de la época en la cual emigre a los Estados Unidos para trabajar como maestro en el programa de migrantes en Pennsylvania. Aprendí a entender la pena y el dolor latino al no estar en su país y vivir en la incertidumbre de no saber cual y donde seria su nuevo hogar.

Willy Chirino, como muchos cubanos de su época, a los comienzos de los anos sesenta, emigro a los Estados Unidos a través de la operación Pedro Pan. Su familia pensaba que seria una estadía temporera en los Estados Unidos sin saber que seria el comienzo de una larga travesía. Ellos querían que su hijo tuviera una visión diferente del mundo y evitar que cayera en manos de un dictador. Los sueños de la familia se convertirían en pesadilla y en la desolación.

Como puertorriqueño americanizado, no conocía su música ni había vivido su historia. Al enterarme que se había casado con mi dama de la canción, Lissette, decidí explorar los temas de sus canciones. Los temas primordiales del señor Chirino vienen del alma y la nostalgia de su país natal, Cuba. Se oye en sus canciones los temas de amor y añoranza de su gente y su patria. El no solo canta de su país pero también incorpora interesantes canciones de amor y pasión con ritmos y sones afro-cubanos, guaguanco y salsa... ritmos calientes, apasionados y tropicales.

Sus grabaciones de los últimos anos, ademas de su mas reciente produccion, son: Afro-disiac (2001) Greatest Hits (2000), Cuba Libre (1998) y Baila Conmigo (1997). Su ultimo sencillo `Hielo' un son bailable y una mini obra escrita por Lissette y Willy Chirino acompaña su ultimo éxito `Hechizo de Luna' escrita por Juan Marcelo y Paula de Jesús con mucho ritmo y salsa bailable del caribe.

Además de `Hielo' y `Hechizo de Luna', grabo un dúo con el gran Johnny Ventura titulado `Alla Se Quedo'. Esta es una canción nostálgica por familia y patria. Todas estas selecciones son de su último disco compacto Son Del Alma (2004) el cual es distribuido por su propio sello discográfico Latinum Music Inc.

Finalmente, quisiera añadir que nuestros lectores deben saber que Lissette y Willy Chirino acaban de celebrar veinticinco anos de matrimonio y están en proceso de completar un disco compacto de música en dúo. Ya es tiempo que ambos realicen los sueños de sus fanatizadas. Mientras tanto continuare hechizado por una luna llena con música seductora, caliente y topical en mi trayectoria diaria bailando en mi coche de la casa al trabajo y del trabajo a la casa.

I would give this album five stars but there were only three songs I felt were great songs. The rest of the album is too commercial for me. Tito has never been to great at picking songs for his albums, but he is not alone.

A must have, excelent album, and there is a sound reason...
notwithstanding the validity of all personal opinions shown about the appeal of this project from caetano, i just would like to mention what he did stated at his concerts on this material (which i attended).

there has been a constant influence of english worded music in brazilian and in caetano's life (he even spent all his exile while the brazilian dictatorship, living in london). then brazil and the usa have a long road of interinfluence, both ways, from the sounding success of carmen miranda in hollywood to the appraisal people like jobim, sergio mendes, ayrto and many other received from the american press and public, rocketing to world fame from there (something brazil can not do is to discover itself: it needs from others!).

then there is the attention the brazilian public devoted to american artists. that brings its load of outstanding cases from the american song having strong impression on the brazilian ear.

so from here, from all this wealth of reciprocating cultural milestones, it arised according to caetano's words, a common universe from which he wanted to design a random/not so random (he is an artist, he needs the randomness against the method!)promenade.

to listen to caetano like if he were only a local exotic specimen, with a life alien to what we call globalization today, would be not to know caetano in his human depth, made of roots and uprootedness, tradition and influences, receptivity and demands. and it would deprive us from getting a balanced approach to his genius, to his universal power of poetry and sensibility.

he is normal. he's been there where we are today 40 years ago.

Supernatural?
This is an amazing CD. Having seen these guys perform a couple of times, and being a guitarist myself, I have this to add to the other reviews: On the CD you will hear some of the most complex and technically proficient classical guitar work that has ever been recorded. But when you see them live, you understand that these guys cannot possibly be human, because a great deal of that material is played by *both* Rick and Mark del Castillo *simultaneously* and in perfect synchronization. I literally could not believe what I was seeing. Catch them live, if you can.

Lucybell "Lumina" Album Review

Good CD, Some Strong Songs
I have been following Lucybell for an online magazine, and saw them in concert last year. I can say they are great musicians but also they are pretty dark. That's why I disagree with a few reviewers here: tracks like Ojos del Silencio actually enhance the CD and their lives shows, because it gives the audience a break to catch their breath and changes the pace, as well as touches the heart. What do I think about the future of Lucybell? Lots of upside - they could go down as a type of Latin American U2 if they continue to innovate and do not produce too many dark songs. Tough to say. In concert, they can come off as being too powerful, which is tough on the ears.

El lanzamiento oficial se realizo en el teatro porvidencia por partida doble. Destacan en este disco las primeras canciones interpretadas por Francisco Gonzales.

Thalia's magnum opus
This is the album that I would recommend and/or buy to someone if he or she asks me the best latin pop album I have listened to. Thalia, Emilio and Kike produced their finest work of art yet. The title track alone, Amor a la Mexicana (and its video! if you buy the greatest hits dvd), is the ultimate masterpiece in latin pop. The video too, is so wonderfully done, so full of subtle and discrete sexual references that you're going to notice every time you watch it.

Too bad I was stuck in Japan and have heard of this album ten long years after I have rediscovered Thalia. It's odd that Thalia's much-maligned cross-over English album became popular in Japan,(she even came here to promote because the single "I want you" reached the top of the charts) but that's probably because of strong popularity of American hip-hop music in general, which Thalia's mediocre English album is very much influenced. Hey Thalia babe, you're a mujer latina, you're no hip-hop, I like you for the way you are, just be yourself.
