The other evening I was riding home after a heavy day’s work. I felt wearied and sore depressed, when swiftly and suddenly that text came to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for thee.’ I reached home and looked it up in the original, and at last it came to me in this way.

‘My grace is sufficient for THEE.’ And I said, ‘I should think it is, Lord,’ and I burst out laughing. I never understood what the holy laughter of Abraham was till then. It seemed to make unbelief so absurd…O brethren, be great believers. Little faith will bring your souls to heaven, but great faith will bring heaven to your souls.³

In the Philippines, small retail stores called Sari-sari store are found in almost every corner of every place. In a state university in the south, a Sari-sari vendor found his way in the campus for free by building his Sari-sari store over the school fence and placing the store window just above the fence facing the school campus. Break time sends students to this corner. Two junior high students were spending their break-time in this corner eating and talking. They got engrossed about helicopters and talked on how it would feel like to be in one of them. Unmindful of the people around them, they talked with so much passion never realizing that they attracted audience. Finally they were interrupted when someone came to buy food but instead said “one helicopter please…”

The burliest, ugliest and hairiest guy in the joint stands up and mutters, “It’s mine old timer? What’s it to you?”

“I hate to be the bearer of such dreadful news, but I believe the poor beast has passed on,” explained the old man.

“What? Are you sure? How did he die?” asked the shocked biker guy. “It seems that my dog killed him, I’m sorry to say,” replied the old man.

“I don’t buy it,” remarked the biker in disbelief, “No dog could beat my Brutus.

“It’s true, my Gunther killed him.”

“Oh yeah? Well, what kind of dog is your Gunther, anyway?”

“A Chihuahua,” answered the old man.

“There is no way that a measely little Chihuahua could have killed Brutus. No way.”

“If you don’t believe me, take a look for yourself,” instructed the man, “It looks he tried to swallow him whole and choked to death.”
