Amongst all the papers on my desk, telephone calls to attorneys and estate agents, painting my new house and getting quotes for all sorts of revamps before I move, I have finally managed to find a gap to blog some wedding pics! If I knew how much work buying a house would be, I think I would have thought twice about it… but I couldn’t say no, I like to think it was built just for me!

So, let me take a break from all of that to tell you how much I loved this wedding! From the pot planted centrepieces at Idille to the 1800’s church where the ceremony was held, it was all so beautiful! It’s my first wedding in the Garden Route since moving back here in January and was referred by my old hostel roommate who is a photographer in Sedgefield.

One Saturday morning about a month before the wedding day, I met Sam to take a look at the venues… I was totally in love with this old church in the Hoekwil area! I can remember driving that road from when I was small with my grandparents (my gran loved a good picnic and drive to Knysna on those back roads!) – it was almost a Sunday tradition when they would come for a visit.

Anyways, it’s great to be back! Thank you Charles and Sam for the fun day – you both looked amazing and your wedding day was truly special! I hope you both enjoyed your honeymoon:)

I’m so excited to share another family shoot on my blog! I think if there’s one thing I enjoy the most, is driving down to Mossel Bay to capture some family memories.

It was a beautiful evening after three days of rain and miserable weather… We took a few pics in a rundown house on our way to Mossel Bay Point where we then saw some seals playing in the water close to the rocks. Makes me realise again how fortunate I am to live in the Garden Route!

Finally! I have found the time to upload some pics of a recent wedding I photographed in Pretoria… I think I promised to upload them about two weeks ago but my life is like a huge pile of paperwork right now that I feel bushed by the end of the day and have no energy to do any blog writing:)

I had a great time going back to Gauteng to photograph Izak and Lerika’s wedding – I stayed with my awesome friends, made new ones and ate really good Italian food! I miss the hustle and bustle of the city and that’s why I love going back.

Izak and Lerika were married at the Tin Roof Cafe in Pretoria, a cute country venue that you would swear you were in the middle of the Karoo! I asked my friend Robyn G Photography to join me on the day for some extra company and help! I loved working with her – she makes a person laugh just when you need it:)

I tried to blog this family shoot last night, but my bed got the better of me! It’s been a busy few weeks with settling in to my new home, meetings, shoots and a wedding in my favourite city Johannesburg – there I said it!

It’s good to be back and back into my routine… Before I left last week I had a family shoot in Hartenbos. I love it when everyone wants to have photos taken on the beach – I can’t decide if it’s because I love dipping my toes into the ocean or because our coastline is so beautiful?

San-Marie is actually a photographer from Hoopstad, no pressure. I was kind of nervous when she told me, but they were such a sweet family that it took any pressure off. The weather was just perfect and gave us so many beautiful images!

Thank you Hendrik and San-Marie for the booking – you guys have the cutest little boy and beautiful family!

This morning while going through my bookings over the next few months, I realised that tomorrow we’re already into the month of love! I cannot believe that we’re already through the first month of the year! Wasn’t it Christmas just a few days ago? This year is now fully underway and I’m looking forward to sharing all my upcoming work – YAY!

Anyways, last weekend I had a family shoot with some really special people who are close to my in-laws. For an hour, I was fortunate enough to hang out with little Mia – only six months old! Thank you Jacques and Claire for giving me the opportunity to photograph your beautiful daughter!

I cannot believe the year is almost done, I can honestly say that I am looking forward to 2013 and cannot wait to get this year over with. I considered writing a personal blog post to explain the reason why I haven’t been working much over the last 12 months, but decided not to in the end. It’s time for a new chapter and a fresh start and I’ll be doing that from my hometown, George, in the gorgeous Garden Route!

About a month ago, I wasn’t really sure if I wanted to continue with photography – I had lost all motivation and inspiration. Then I had a chat with a few friends and family, took my camera on holiday to Mauritius and I could feel it was all coming back to me. When my old school friend, Amanda, sent me a message and asked if I was able to do a family shoot, I jumped at the chance to get going again.

Anyways, I remember this family from when I was super small – I just remember how awesome they were when it came to playing piano:) I’m glad I had the opportunity to photograph this amazing family and all the kiddies! Thank you for the booking Amanda, it was the kick I needed!

I cannot believe we’re in September already! The air is so much warmer and I feel so motivated for the Summer season.

In July, I attended the Du Wayne Photography workshop – I had the awesome opportunity to catch with old friends as well as make new ones! Darrel was amongst the group of inspirational people there and I’m fortunate to have met her:)

She emailed me late in July asking if I would like to second shoot for her at a small intimate wedding at Avianto (what an awesome venue!!!) – I was too stoked that she even thought of me. Anyways, it was a gorgeous day with a warm breeze and such an amazing group of people at that surrounded the newlyweds.

I think out of all the shoots I’ve done thus far, this one has got to be the most memorable…

While my husband was putting all my gear into the car for me, I walked out the front door, locked it from the inside. Before I closed the door, I asked my husband if he had the keys – he didn’t answer so I assumed that meant he had taken them. I shut the door and headed towards the car only to find out that he left the keys inside. There we were. Stuck.

After numerous attempts to try override the electric gate manually, we managed to break into our garage with a screwdriver and then broke into the house by breaking a door. I never want to relive that as my stomach felt terrible! I had 10 minutes to get to this shoot and I was almost about to jump over a wall and run there with 12kgs worth of camera’s and lenses!

Anyways, I loved this shoot! Lucia was beautiful in a dress that she designed… The light was still perfect by the time I got there. Phew! I need to cut some spare keys!

A few weeks ago my husband and I attended the Du Wayne Photography workshop in Pretoria together with a group of amazing photographers I have become friends with through a few meet ups and events… So awesome to see them again and make new friends!

Anyways, I’ve been stuck in bed for the past week with the flu and I’ve finally managed to get round to uploading some pics of the two stunning models! Every year I like to attend a workshop just to refresh my mind, learn a few new tricks and chat about gear… I walked away from Duwayne’s workshop with a whole lot more than what I walked in with – he has such a creative eye that it’s so amazing to learn from him! I now find myself looking at lines and light in a much different way – I hope my husband is too:)

Two weeks ago, I had the awesome opportunity to meet and do a shoot with Byron and Claire! They’re getting married in September this year and are such a super sweet couple:) It was great to have met them, made new friends and test out some of my new equipment!

We made our way to Newtown early on Saturday morning – completely forgot that it was Youth Day! There was a huge crowd of school kids getting ready to protest in their school uniforms but fortunately they were marching towards the busier parts of Jozi:) Was really cool to experience something new in the city!

Thanks so much to my awesome friend, Claudine, for organising – she even brought me a cup of Red Cappuccino and assisted me for the morning! She rocks!
