Hello my followers,

I have not been doing any posts lately because to be honest, I have been feeling very uninspired. I am not sure what is causing this.
I guess at some point in life, one comes to a plateau somewhat. I need some excitement, a challenge or something motivating and inspiring to look forward to.

I feel that I am a person that constantly needs to be working towards a goal or some sort of acheivement.

Mr Darcy was romantic, patient, hot all with the perfect English accent. Makes a girl wishes she was alive in the 18th century. :-) *sighs*

Naturalista Fashionista Files-Cee

Hey lovelies,

I love natural hair, and more importantly I am enamored by healthy and beautiful natural hair.
Many of my friends have beautiful natural hair which I absolutely love and admire. I felt it important to feature them on the blog so that I can share their journey with you and also show you the flexibility of natural hair

This feature is on my friend Cee.

I have known Cee since we were children (5 years old or earlier) , in fact we are from the same village in Grenada.
Cee has some of the most stunning locs i have seen. Many people assume that locs are dirty, unkept and not fashionable. I am here to show you that locs can be very fashionable with proper management , the right products and some creativity.
Cee is really an inspiration for me as I have been thinking of the possibility of getting locs. Her locs are long, healthy, shiny and very well kept (which you will see for yourself) .

C: I wanted a natural hairstyle that was very low maintenance

LS: How long have you been growing your locs?

C: I have been growing them for 5 years, well will be 5 years on June 5th

LS: What was the process like?

C:It was a rollercoaster, I enjoyed every bit of it though.

LS: What advice do you have for people thinking about locs?

C: Make sure it's something you really want, be patient, enjoy the bitter with the sweet.

My Hair Moisturizers: Miss Jessie's Buttercreme and Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie

Hey Chicas,

I wanted to come quickly to share with you my favorite natural hair moisturizers.
A few people asked me what I use to moisturize my hair since moisture is very important to natural hair.

I do not use a lot of products in my hair and my hair does not like "hair grease" as it tends to weigh it down.
So I tend to stay away from that. Here are the products I use to moisturize my hair

I currently use my Miss Jessie's Buttercreme and Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie. After washing my hair and deep conditioning it, I would take the Smoothie and run it through my hair. After that, I section my hair and twist it, before twisting I put a dime size amount of the Baby buttercreme in my palm and down the hair shaft before twisting.
I find that my hair is very moisturized with this method and I only need to re moisturize during the week.

Recent Purchases: Books

Hello all,

I just wanted to share my most recent purchases.

Last evening, before dinner with 2 of my friends at The Pickle Barrel, I made a pit stop to the used bookstore.

I love the used bookstore; it always has a plethora of amazing books and interesting characters. I only spent about 30 minutes in there as I did not want to be late for my dinner. Normally I would spend over an hour in there - so many books so little time, so many interesting folks to chat with as well- however, time did not permit.

I ended up browsing both floors and I picked up 5 books, but decided to stick to my $20 budget.
I gave them my crisp $20 and walked out with three books and a big smile on my face.
Here are my purchases. I can’t wait to read them…*dances*

Hair Journey-

OCt 2009 I came home from work and decided to just shave my head. I had always wanted to shave my head, not necessarily to rock in public but its just that i wanted to track my hair's progression. I did such a bad job that the following day I ran to my local barber and had him fix it up. As it was cold when i shaved my head (wasn't thinking about temperature) I opted to wear extensions and wigs to grow my hair out and to keep warm. I loved the versatility that wigs and wigs offers.

The only thing i was worried about was what my family would say, as i did not want them to that i was going through some personal breakdown, which I was not..Thankfully, they were fine with it, infact all they said was that "I looked like a 15 year old boy"..LOL

I have absolutely no regrets about shaving my hair and lately i have been getting temptation to shave again, I figured this is a sign to share my hair journey with my followers.

I do not have thick hair, I have always wanted thick hair, if you know anything that would help me thicken please let me know

Facial routine Update!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys,

After a few months, I have decided to go back to my tried and true skin care routine. For the last 3 or so months, I have been using the Clinique 2-step system. I really really wanted to love this and I wanted to see some major changes in my skin but that has not happened. I think that certain skin care products are not designed for dark and black people.

I felt that as I got older I should splurge on skin care products. I figured everyone was raving about Clinique and i really was expecting a miracle. I have learned that price does not equal quality. After using Clinique, my skin was not as dewy as it was looking previously..Infact, it was looking sort of grey and dull. The moisturizing lotion did help with the oil. However, the changes were not so substantial.

My routine will consists of my cleanser from Olay, toner from either Clean n Clear and my faical lotion from Olay.

So my Birthday was Feb 13th. I was not really excited about this birthday im not sure why that is. I guess its old age getting to me. I did the dinner with my closest friends. Small Haul: Black Opal Perfecting Powder Makeup

Hey all,

I have a small haul. I recently purchased the Black Opal Perfecting Powder Makeup. My colour match is Beautiful Bronze and I paid $11.99 (before tax) for this product at Beauty Supply Warehouse. Here is what the the product claims to provide;

Moderate Coverage
Silky, creme-formula dries to a matte powder Finish, provides advanced oil-controlling action
Creme-based formula flashes instantly to a soft, powder finish on skin
For Oily Skin

The product does promise everything it states on the package. It is extremely light weight and goes on really effortlessly. It is not really build able so if you do not have too many blemishes it should be OK.
I wore it all day at the office, and when i checked myself in the mirror , i was not my usual oily self. Usually by 9am, you can see your reflection on my oily nose like my nose was swimming in Coconut Oil *sighs*. I don't know if this product is mattifying but it did offer a lot of oil control.

What I also love about this is that it offers a no makeup look, sometimes are dark skinned girls, some powder foundations can leave us ashy. This gives a nice natural finish. If you guys are looking for an inexpensive product that is very good. I recommend Black Opal Perfecting Powder Coverage. I have nothing bad to say about this product.

Rant: Why do comfortable shoes have to be so awful looking?

During my vacation in NY last December I picked up some shoes for the office. One of them being a Naturalizer work shoe. I really wanted to get shoes that were light and felt like walking on a cloud. I tried them on at the store and OMG, it was soo Heavenly (comfort wise). It had everything I wanted in a good shoe....Except for the look of the shoe. I love the shoe but they are so matronly and grandmotherly. I picked up the shoe in black, its all leather. I got size 8 but I should have gone to a 7.5 because it stretched out a bit.Suffice it to say, I would love if i can get the comfort in those shoes in something that's a little bit more pleasing to the eye..

Why can't sexy shoes be comfortable? If you know, please tell me...
