A team of LLB students from The City Law School reached the
grand final of the 'Game On' Competition, a challenge for
university students designed by international law firm Allen &
Overy.

The team from City, consisting of Ben Fellows, Ben Lowen, Alex
Wagg, and Joe Peak, had to compete against 48 teams from other UK
universities. After finishing at the top of the leader board in the
preliminary rounds of the contest, the students went through to the
grand final in April. The team did not win but received praise
from Allen & Overy Partner, David Campbell.

Campbell told the City team: "I can honestly say that I would be
happy to work with any of you as part of a negotiating team." He
encouraged the contestants to pursue a career in commercial law as
well as offering them his contact details.

The Competition was created to provide an insight into
commercial law and to highlight the key skills needed to become a
successful solicitor. Campbell described the Game On exercise as a
simplified example of the negotiations solicitors had to deal with
on a regular basis.

Claire de Than, LLB Programme Director says: "Congratulations,
to the City team for making it so far into the competition and
representing The City Law School so effectively."

wiki-style resources to support law students in their learning.
Both web sites built on the outstanding success of Lawbore,
originally launched in 2003.

These initiatives have been recognised and shortlisted for an
award in the Outstanding Library Team category of the Leadership
and Management Awards. The City Law School's library team is joined
by five other university library teams from across the UK and the
winner will be announced at a ceremony to take place in June at
London's Hilton Hotel, Park Lane.

The City Law School, perhaps uniquely amongst higher education
institutions, provides an extensive package of learning and support
to all its students - from first degree level right through to
those newly qualified and entering professional practice.
